After being scared several times already, Yan Jiyun still didn’t find anything more shocking than the appearance of Female Ghost No. 2.
Was this telling him that Teacher Qu’s split personalities existed on both the ghost side and the human side?
So did that mean he was going to have to meet a whole bunch of ghosts?
Just thinking about it made Yan Jiyun feel awful. Why couldn’t he be the one who fainted? Qu Wanqiao was so useless.
Or maybe he had fainted on purpose!
Yan Jiyun didn’t want to face such a terrifying scene alone. He swung his wrist and smacked Qu Wanqiao across the face. Without the slightest trace of acting, he shouted, “Qu-laoshi, wake up! Wake up!”
Qu Wanqiao still didn’t wake up. Yan Jiyun increased the force and slapped that handsome face that nine hundred million girls would love even harder. “Qu-laoshi, if you don’t wake up, we’re going to die here.”
The electric fan began making a creaking sound. Yan Jiyun had no choice but to leave Qu Wanqiao behind and search the classroom for the switch, hoping he could turn the fan off.
The switch for an electric fan was usually at the front of the classroom. Ghost No. 1 had disappeared somewhere. Was she still controlling the fan from the shadows?
Female Ghost No. 2, with Qu Wanqiao’s face, was even more terrifying than Female Ghost No. 1, though somehow there was also something slightly comical about it.
For a moment, Yan Jiyun didn’t know what to say.
He could only curse this lousy game some more.
If the game wanted him to complete the mission, fine, but why couldn’t it clearly state whether there was one ghost or two? They could even gang up and appear together. This was way too much.
There were no lights in the classroom, but that wasn’t enough to stop Yan Jiyun. He quickly located the switch and ran through the rows of desks and chairs.
He pressed the switch. He had expected that trying it out might not work, but the electric fan that had been on the verge of falling suddenly began to slow down and gradually stopped.
So the electric fan could actually be controlled!
At that moment, Female Ghost No. 2 disappeared.
Yan Jiyun felt the back of his clothes turn cold. He was drenched in cold sweat.
That was terrifying. But there were still two minutes left before the mission ended.
The mission reminder said they couldn’t stay in the same spot for more than 30 seconds. They had to keep moving.
Yan Jiyun returned to where Qu Wanqiao had fainted and dragged him to the side. He was surprisingly heavy. As soon as he moved over, the electric fan started creaking again, and this time it was spinning even faster.
He dragged Qu Wanqiao farther away. It seemed that Qu Wanqiao wasn’t going to wake up before the mission ended, and Yan Jiyun certainly couldn’t carry him out in such a short amount of time.
Yan Jiyun tried pulling open the classroom door again, only to discover that it wouldn’t open at all.
The door had clearly been able to open before.
Female Ghost No. 1 wanted to kill them. Female Ghost No. 2 had shown her face and then disappeared. Maybe she had seen Qu Wanqiao and had complicated feelings about him?
Yan Jiyun hated ghosts that suddenly appeared and disappeared even more than anything else. Most importantly, these female ghosts were genuinely terrifying to look at. He couldn’t think of any way to deal with them.
Yan Jiyun could only hold a chair in front of himself as a weapon and shield. His nose was starting to itch, his throat was dry, and Qu Wanqiao was still lying on the floor. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He lightly kicked him once, then kicked him again.
Why wasn’t he waking up yet?
The classroom was filled with an ominous, bone-chilling atmosphere. October nights were already quite cold, and after sweating so much just now, Yan Jiyun’s entire body was trembling slightly.
He felt like this cold had hit him especially hard this time. He could only grit his teeth and endure it, but his head was beginning to feel foggy.
He forced himself to concentrate. The fan continued spinning, blowing cold air over him.
Suddenly, a chill crept up his neck. His breathing grew weaker and weaker, and a pale, bluish-white face suddenly appeared in front of him!
A pale hand clamped around his neck.
The chair in his hands was completely useless against the ghost, and using the Invisibility Cloak at a time like this wouldn’t work either. He frantically rummaged through his props. Not a single prop in his inventory could deal with ghosts. However, one item in his pet-item inventory was glowing.
It was his number tag.
On the back of the number tag was a silver cross, a gift Lucifer the dragon had given him before leaving after the Peak Competition.
He had heard that crosses could also be used against vampires. He didn’t know whether they would work against Eastern ghosts.
Western souls and Eastern ghosts… surely the principles behind them were more or less the same.
Yan Jiyun immediately took out the prop. He didn’t have time to think.
[Would the player like to use the Cross Number Tag?]
Of course he wanted to use it. Wasn’t that an obvious question?
[Cross Number Tag usage duration: 60 sec.]
The next second, the item appeared around his neck.
The number tag hanging against his chest shone with a silvery light. The increasingly intense chill around his neck receded, and his breathing gradually became easier!
The ghost’s hand seemed to have been burned by something. She hissed hoarsely at Yan Jiyun, “Hhh… I’ll kill you!”
The cross actually worked against ghosts!
The functions of the props in this game were seriously bizarre. As expected of a game with such a high degree of freedom. He had to try the props one by one to discover their secrets.
Yan Jiyun gripped the number tag and held it against his chest. “Why do you want to kill me? I have no grudge against you.”
The ghost hissed, “Kill you. Kill you.”
Yan Jiyun listened as she repeatedly muttered, “Kill you, kill you,” like a soul that had completely lost its mind. But if she had lost her mind, how could she still control the electric fan?
The ghost lunged at Yan Jiyun and Qu Wanqiao again. But with the Cross Number Tag, every time she got close, it was as though she had been burned.
This didn’t drive her away. Instead, it made her rage skyrocket.
She spread both arms, and the desks and chairs in the classroom suddenly flew into the air, all of them hurtling toward Yan Jiyun and Qu Wanqiao. If all those desks and chairs crashed into them, the two of them would probably die here.
[Time remaining until the end of mission: 1 min 1 sec]
Even the cross couldn’t stop her anymore.
The cross was a magical attack, while desks and chairs were physical attacks. They were two completely different types of attacks.
He began rummaging through his inventory again. The Lucky Card was still on cooldown and couldn’t be used. The only thing left was the black-cat embroidery given to him by the Yan Weilan.
That item probably couldn’t be used in this instance.
The female ghost let out a furious roar and thrust both hands forward. All the desks and chairs flew toward Yan Jiyun and Qu Wanqiao.
Yan Jiyun’s mind was practically numb. With no other options, he could only make a desperate attempt and quickly activated the black-cat embroidery!
No system notification appeared.
He didn’t feel a layer of sturdy armor covering his body. Instead, something icy and cold pressed down over him and Qu Wanqiao. It wasn’t heavy, but it was freezing cold, like a block of ice that had just been taken out of a freezer, cold enough to make his fingers instinctively curl.
The desks and chairs came crashing down with a tremendous clatter, but all of them were stopped outside a layer of invisible force.
Female Ghost No. 1 finally changed her line.
“Get out of my way!”
Yan Jiyun lowered the hands shielding his head and finally saw what was standing in front of him.
A bluish-gray face was staring directly at him.
Holy shit, it nearly scared his soul out of his body! It was Female Ghost No. 2!
Although she shared the same face as Qu Wanqiao, this face was clearly younger, like that of a high school student. Even her hairstyle was neat and demure.
Once Yan Jiyun got a good look at her, he surprisingly no longer found her frightening.
He realized one thing: Female Ghost No. 2 had saved them.
Or rather, Female Ghost No. 2 actually wanted to save Qu Wanqiao.
Yan Jiyun hadn’t even had time to thank her when Female Ghost No. 1 rushed forward and began fighting Female Ghost No. 2.
Female Ghost No. 2 sent all the desks and chairs that had just crashed down around them flying back at Female Ghost No. 1 in one go. Female Ghost No. 1 couldn’t dodge in time and was smashed into the wall.
Female Ghost No. 2 said, “Stop…”
Female Ghost No. 1 snapped, “Mind your own business!”
Female Ghost No. 2 said, “He’s my older brother. You can’t kill him.”
Female Ghost No. 1 said, “Then I’ll kill you!”
With that, the two ghosts began fighting again.
Yan Jiyun glanced at Qu Wanqiao, who was still unconscious on the floor.
What was going on? Female Ghost No. 2 was Qu Wanqiao’s younger sister?
In other words, Qu Wanqiao might actually be the real Teacher Qu? His younger sister had died?
But when had his younger sister died? Was she the first victim to fall from the Mingya High School teaching building, or one of the later victims? Why didn’t he remember Female Ghost No. 2? He didn’t even seem to have the slightest memory of her.
Had he lost his memory?
Good grief. Why were the instances in Teacher Qu’s consciousness getting more and more melodramatic???
It was like stepping into a suspenseful idol drama.
Yan Jiyun watched the two white figures flying around and fighting fiercely. The fear in his heart gradually diminished.
As long as he kept holding onto Qu Wanqiao, he could receive Female Ghost No. 2’s protection.
If he just treated her appearance as Halloween makeup, it became much easier to accept. He could simply think of it as a girl with a particularly unusual hobby.
Had Teacher Qu just handed them a pretty obvious clue?
Female Ghost No. 2 clearly had memories. She remembered that Qu Wanqiao was her brother.
Wouldn’t that mean she also remembered what had happened before her death?
Yan Jiyun’s gaze toward Female Ghost No. 2 changed.
Was she the answer Teacher Qu had practically delivered to him?
But there was still one question: why was the main mission to dodgeFemale Ghost No. 1’s attacks rather than Female Ghost No. 2’s?
It was obvious that Female Ghost No. 2 had no ill intentions toward the players. She even seemed to be there to hand them the answer, almost like an open-book exam.
She was suspicious, yet she had also helped him survive this round.
For a moment, Yan Jiyun couldn’t tell which side represented Teacher Qu’s main personality. Perhaps Teacher Qu’s secondary personality was deliberately doing the opposite? Turning bad things into good things and good things into bad things, leaving the players with no way to figure out what was going on?
If that were really the case, then it was truly despicable — doing everything it could to prevent them from leaving, while slowly devouring the main personality.
