GUL Chapter 24: The Bitter Supporting Male Rewrites the Script Online

Qin Qing walked back into the conference room and placed a steaming, fragrant cup of coffee beside Cang Ming. Cang Ming looked down and his eyes flickered. On the coffee, a very round and adorable cat face had been drawn in cream. Making him drink the troublemaking cat, so Qin Qing was venting his frustration? Cang Ming took a sip of coffee, using the cup to hide the interesting curve of his thin lips. He was smiling, very subtly and secretly, but Xu Yizhi noticed it immediately. Xu Yizhi looked at Cang Ming. When the other man put down the cup, he saw the half-eaten cat face.

“Heh.”

A deep laugh escaped his throat uncontrollably. He turned his head away, covering his thin lips with his large, well-defined hand, but his narrowed eyes were curved. This little flower was truly interesting.

“President Cang, this is for you.” Qin Qing stood at his seat, reached over Xu Yizhi to hand a napkin to Cang Ming, then stuck out the tip of his tongue and suggestively licked his upper lip.

His originally dry, pale lips slowly turned into moist, glossy pink, the lip bead prominent, full and cute. Cang Ming’s eyes darkened, thinking it was a seduction.

Xu Yizhi took the napkin and handed it to Cang Ming, his deep voice carrying a hint of teasing: “Wipe your mouth. You got cream on it.”

Cang Ming, whose mind had already fallen into a heated turmoil, took the napkin and wiped the cream from his upper lip. His expression was still stern, his aura still powerful, but his movements were somewhat stiff.

“You’re overthinking it.” Xu Yizhi leaned close and whispered in his ear, his eyes full of mischief, but also hiding a hint of coldness.

Cang Ming cast a cold glance at him but said nothing.

“The coffee is very good.” When he turned to Qin Qing, his expression softened again.

“Ah, thank you.” Qin Qing, who had already returned to his seat and was flipping through documents, replied with delight.

Receiving such a compliment after making a mistake made him feel completely at ease. Qin Zishi gripped his pen and smiled falsely. He had thought that Cang Ming’s unfathomable eyes had never truly seen anyone, nor given any emotional feedback. Even a simple compliment for a cup of coffee, the most basic courtesy, was something he had never done before. But at this moment, Cang Ming was watching Qin Qing and responding to him with emotion, even comforting him. He was no longer the Cang Ming of before. The immense sense of loss and panic almost suffocated Qin Zishi. He felt that Cang Ming shouldn’t act so strangely for someone so insignificant. The only one who could change him was himself. This inexplicable confidence gave Qin Zishi a sense of certainty and excitement when facing Cang Ming. But now, that certainty was slowly crumbling, like a solid tower suddenly losing its foundation. Qin Zishi picked up a document and forced himself to read it, but his mind was filled with tangled hatred and resentment.

Just then, the CFO walked in and handed a thick stack of documents to Qin Qing: “Xiao Qin, this is POC’s financial analysis report. Distribute it.”

This meeting was mainly to discuss the POC acquisition plan, led by the legal department. As a member of the legal department, Qin Qing immediately stood up and took the documents. The documents were quite heavy. The moment he took them, his arm involuntarily sank. Xu Yizhi immediately reached out and supported the bottom of the stack, making the weight disappear instantly. Only after Qin Qing had securely held the thick stack in his arms did Xu Yizhi withdraw his hand. This help was silent, warm, and considerate. Qin Qing looked down at Xu Yizhi, his dark eyes full of grateful smiles and sparkling light. He felt a secret joy and wanted to say thank you, but didn’t want others to hear.

Xu Yizhi caught his little secret and smiled. Beneath his elegant, composed mask hid a heart that was inexplicably satisfied. Cang Ming reached out to Qin Qing, his expression somewhat somber. As the big boss, the first document naturally had to go to him. That warm, sweet, ambiguous atmosphere was broken. Qin Qing quickly walked over to Cang Ming. But before he could hand over the documents, a furry fat ball attacked from behind, slamming into his shoulder like lightning. It was 996. The pain numbed his entire arm. Qin Qing’s grip loosened, and the several-pound stack of documents scattered all over Cang Ming’s head. White papers almost buried him completely. Watching their boss’s predicament, the conference room fell into another eerie silence.

Qin Qing was stunned for a moment, then asked worriedly, “President Cang, does it hurt?”

The coffee incident hadn’t passed, and now there was a document attack. Who would believe it wasn’t intentional? Lost in his thoughts, Qin Qing let out an involuntary groan. His clear, spring-like voice carried a hint of embarrassed hoarseness, brushing against the eardrums with a tingling sensation, strangely evoking some intimate scenes. Cang Ming’s eyes darkened, and he caught Qin Qing’s outstretched hand.

“I’ll pick them up myself. It doesn’t hurt much.” His voice was slightly hoarse.

“President Cang, I’m sorry.” Qin Qing stepped back, bent down, and smiled bitterly.

“The cat again?” Cang Ming slowly gathered the scattered papers, asking with a hint of sarcasm or teasing.

Qin Qing was silent for a moment, then forced himself to answer: “Yes, the cat did it.” He closed his eyes in resignation, waiting for the impending social death.

His thick lashes trembled slightly with shame and unease, like stamens trembling before a storm. His lips were so pale, but his cheeks slowly flushed, like peach petals in spring.

Cang Ming took a deep breath, his tone unbelievably gentle: “That cat really needs to be taught a lesson.”

He too went along with it, blaming the mistake on a non-existent cat. Qin Qing opened his eyes, looking at Cang Ming in surprise. The colleagues around him were shocked but dared not show it.

“Your hand was already injured and not very nimble. Don’t carry such heavy things next time.” Xu Yizhi picked up a few papers from the floor and smiled reassuringly.

Only now did everyone notice the twisted, hideous scar on Qin Qing’s right hand. So he really hadn’t done it on purpose. But why did he have to use such a terrible excuse? No one understood, but no one dared to criticize. Xu Yizhi stood up, pressed Qin Qing’s shoulder to make him sit back down, and distributed the documents himself. Qin Qing was effectively soothed. His grateful gaze followed Xu Yizhi.

Qin Zishi took a document and thanked him, but his finger accidentally tore the cover page. Qin Qing, what made you deserve such preferential treatment? Once everyone had the documents, the meeting began. Qin Qing listened to everyone’s speeches while being wary of 996’s sneak attacks. But the cat didn’t show up again until the meeting ended. Qin Qing breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing everyone stand up and leave one by one, he carefully pulled out his chair, checked under the table to make sure it was empty, then slowly backed away toward the door.

Xu Yizhi waited nearby, laughing softly: “What’s wrong? Are there landmines on the floor?”

Qin Qing shook his head, his expression awkward. He had probably lost all his face here today. Cang Ming stood by the door waiting. When Qin Qing approached, he turned and walked away. Just then, a round furball slammed into Qin Qing’s lower back, making him cry out and lurch forward. Hearing the cry, Cang Ming immediately turned and caught the flustered Qin Qing. A fragrant bundle, soft and fresh as a flower, crashed into his hard, broad chest. Cang Ming instinctively tightened his arms, holding this fragrance that seemed as if it might dissipate at any moment.

“Are you okay?” His voice was hoarse, an unprecedented nervousness appearing in his eyes.

“I’m fine.” Qin Qing placed his hands on Cang Ming’s chest. His fingertips could feel a solid warmth, and his composed face was tinged with a faint blush.

“The cat again?” Cang Ming asked in a low voice.

Qin Qing nodded helplessly: “Yes, the cat again.”

Cang Ming’s arms still encircled Qin Qing’s slender, supple waist. A flower blooming on a branch, seemingly breaking at the slightest touch, must be like this. The hand at his waist couldn’t help but rub gently.

“Not going to change your story?” Cang Ming deliberately asked.

His blush deepened. Qin Qing stepped back a few paces, shaking his head: “No.”

“Why?” Cang Ming’s arms felt empty, lost.

Qin Qing said calmly, “If you want to believe, then believe. If not, I won’t defend myself.”

Either way, that was the truth. He bowed slightly and said helplessly, “President Cang, I’m sorry.”

Cang Ming looked at him steadily, then suddenly said, “If I catch that cat, I’ll teach it a good lesson for you.” He made this promise with unusual seriousness.

Qin Qing was stunned for a few seconds, then laughed lightly.

“If you really catch it, please flatten it for me, okay?” He squinted his beautiful peach-blossom eyes and made a small joke.

Cang Ming nodded solemnly: “Okay.” A hint of pleasure flickered in his deep eyes, unseen by anyone.

Xu Yizhi quickly stepped forward, put his arm around Qin Qing’s shoulder, and led him out, his tone casual: “Getting angry over a little bump, what man would be that petty? Come on, don’t be afraid of him. Go back to work.”

In one sentence, he flattened Cang Ming’s magnanimity, reducing him to just another ordinary man. Xu Yizhi led Qin Qing toward the elevator, looking back to cast a cold glance at Cang Ming. Cang Ming stood there, returning the look with equal coldness.

Just then, Qin Zishi, who had been lingering nearby, handed over a document: “President Cang, I’ve secured the contract with the Romen Group. Would you like to see it?”

The Romen Group contract was worth tens of billions, involving energy extraction and sales. Whoever secured this contract would get promotions, raises, and even company shares. Qin Zishi had originally planned to use this trump card at the most critical moment, not to hand it over so hastily like this. But he couldn’t hold back any longer. He had to crush Qin Qing under his feet. Being good-looking might give you some advantages, but in the workplace, it ultimately came down to ability. Cang Ming took the contract and called out to Xu Yizhi and Qin Qing, who were about to enter the elevator.

“Come take a look too. See if you can find any loopholes.”

Someone without even a lawyer’s license, finding loopholes? Qin Zishi curled his lips contemptuously.

996 ran out from the stairwell, sneaking up behind Qin Qing, and said excitedly: “Meow. Qin Qing, you’re about to witness the destined one’s rise. There’s absolutely no way you can stop this part of the plot.”

It stood on its hind legs, doing a boxer’s shuffle, waving its chubby paws in a provocative challenge: “Flatten me? Come on, come on, come on.”
