I seriously die laughing every time Kitty Baby pulls one of these outrageous moves. Everyone else struggles through the instance, doing everything they can to keep the NPCs happy, while he just stomps the NPC into oblivion. What if that NPC was Qu-laoshi’s main personality? Wouldn’t this Level 5 instance just shut down early?”

“He definitely didn’t stomp the main personality. Did none of you read the mission description? ‘Explore Teacher Qu’s dream.’ That means Qu-laoshi is having a nightmare right now. The alters running around inside the dream have to be his negative personalities. By crushing one of those negative personalities, Kitty Baby’s actually helping Teacher Qu escape the nightmare.”

“So that’s how it is. My brain really is useless. But then again, I’m watching a kitten clear an instance, so why do I need a brain? As long as Mimi stays adorable every day, that’s enough. Anyway, Mimi’s brain works better than mine.”

“Shouldn’t you be ashamed? Your brain’s not even as useful as a cat’s. Though… mine isn’t either~”

Qi Feng climbed onto Yan Jiyun’s head. Seeing that there was nothing beneath his paw anymore, he realized that Class Monitor No. 5 was probably gone for good. For some reason, he found the situation rather amusing.

Chuckling softly, he rubbed Yan Jiyun’s head. “Well then, let’s keep running.”

‘Of course we have to run,’ Yan Jiyun thought. ‘The dinosaurs behind us are practically surrounding us already!’

This was Teacher Qu’s dream. Who knew where the end was?

With Class Monitor No. 5 gone, they’d lost another guide.

Class Monitor No. 4 had voluntarily jumped into the sea to show them the way, but now they were stuck on a vast prairie filled with gigantic dinosaurs. At this rate, they’d literally run their legs off inside Teacher Qu’s dream.

Yan Jiyun suddenly looked toward the sky and let out a loud, “Meow!”

Inside, he was cursing Teacher Qu, wondering whether the man could somehow hear him.

After venting, he continued sprinting with Qi Feng on his back. Since the scene hadn’t changed after Class Monitor No. 5 disappeared, it meant they still hadn’t found the correct way to leave. In other words, they still hadn’t eliminated the source of Teacher Qu’s nightmare.

Yan Jiyun simply kept running. Qi Feng sat atop his back, experiencing the legendary sensation of racing like the wind. For the moment, he wanted nothing more than to enjoy the exhilaration of the speed. He didn’t even feel like stopping to admire the scenery.

Running flooded the body with adrenaline, and cats were no exception. Yan Jiyun’s heartbeat accelerated alongside the rush of adrenaline.

Until he saw an enormous wall ahead.

Holy shit. This has to be the source of the nightmare.

Ahead of them, two mountain-sized dinosaurs were fighting. Each weighed at least a hundred tons; their limbs were towering, their necks even longer than giraffes’, swinging violently as they slammed into each other.

Yan Jiyun stopped. Qi Feng, still sitting on top of his head, lurched forward from inertia and nearly buried himself in the thick black fur. Clutching handfuls of the now much thicker, longer fur, he struggled to avoid sliding off.

“Those dinosaurs are magnificent,” Qi Feng said, noticing a shimmering ripple-like barrier behind them. “If we get past them, we should be able to leave this place.”

Yan Jiyun naturally understood. Moreover, his Lucky Card was about to expire.

Time was running out, they had to get through.

But the two dinosaurs together weighed at least two hundred tons. Trying to squeeze beneath them wouldn’t be easy. Just as he could stomp one of Teacher Qu’s personalities out of existence, those giant dinosaurs could just as easily flatten both him and Qi Feng with a single step.

Suddenly, one of the dinosaurs stopped fighting. Instead, it turned its gaze toward Yan Jiyun, its enormous feet began carrying it directly toward him.

Every muscle in Yan Jiyun’s body tightened.

Qi Feng gently patted his head. “Caramel, don’t be afraid. We’ll go around from the side.”

Yan Jiyun understood. Huge dinosaurs had disadvantages too — the larger they were, the slower their reactions. Although one stride from them required Yan Jiyun to run a great distance, he was much more agile. The instant they lifted a foot, he could change direction.

Truthfully, Qi Feng was even more nervous than Yan Jiyun. After all, he was completely passive, and couldn’t control where his cat ran.

Yan Jiyun, however, had far more experience being a cat. His hearing and escape instincts far surpassed Qi Feng’s. When it came to running, he’d trust his own judgment.

Boom… Boom… Boom…

The giant dinosaur’s footsteps grew closer, its pace quickened. They no longer had time to identify dinosaur species.

Qi Feng suddenly pointed toward the detour route. A whole herd of dinosaurs, each only slightly larger than Yan Jiyun, had appeared there.

For some unknown reason, more and more dinosaurs were converging.

The second giant dinosaur caught up with the first, and now both of them were charging straight toward Yan Jiyun.

Yan Jiyun couldn’t think of anything about himself that would attract this much attention. This was Teacher Qu’s nightmare, so could it be this happens because he’d just stomped one of the personalities out of existence? Had that personality’s consciousness scattered apart and transformed into the awareness of all these dinosaurs, now coming after him?

That’s seriously messed up. When are they ever getting out of Teacher Qu’s nightmare?

They’d already entered three separate instances, which meant they had to clear all three before they could truly leave, and still find the real Teacher Qu.

Teacher Qu. Teacher Qu. Teacher Qu—

Yan Jiyun sighed. Teacher Qu filled every corner of his thoughts, making him feel like he’s obsessed. 

Just whose personality had created this nightmare?

Never mind that — right now, he needed to escape this herd of dinosaurs, whether they were heading into battle or gathering for some prehistoric marketplace.

Yan Jiyun burst into another sprint!

A stegosaurus nearly his own size rammed toward him, but Yan Jiyun didn’t even think about fighting. His objective was crystal clear: He had to rush towards the vortex not far ahead. He’d seen it during the Peak Competition. It was an exit.

Leaping high, he planted one paw on another dinosaur’s broad back. Using it as a springboard, he vaulted gracefully onward, bounding across several dinosaurs in succession.

They couldn’t run as fast as he could, nor were they as nimble. They could only watch helplessly as the jet-black creature effortlessly sailed over their heads.

Qi Feng remained absolutely silent atop Yan Jiyun’s back, as he didn’t dare distract the giant cat. For the first time, he truly understood just how incredible his Caramel was. Warmth filled his heart; his Caramel really was unique, the only one of its kind in the world.

Meanwhile, Yan Jiyun continued sprinting with all his might. He couldn’t afford to let even a single dinosaur touch him. Not for even one second could he lose focus.

Were these dinosaurs migrating at this moment? They all seemed to be rushing toward one destination. They didn’t actually appear interested in attacking Yan Jiyun. Only he and Qi Feng were struggling upstream against the tide.

Perhaps, this was what nightmares truly were. Teacher Qu might be the one dreaming. But the ones actually fighting through the nightmare were Yan Jiyun and Qi Feng. For them, this was the real nightmare.

Cursing while running, Yan Jiyun thought, ‘Damn garbage game! You can’t play people like this!’

Time was running out.

The vortex still looked about two minutes away.

More and more dinosaurs filled the path ahead, Yan Jiyun had no choice but to run even faster. They were packed too tightly and moving directly against his direction. If he accidentally landed on the ground, he could easily be knocked over. And once he fell, a stampede would probably finish him off.

Now it wasn’t only Qi Feng worrying for Yan Jiyun; the viewers in both livestreams were practically holding their breath, waiting for them to land safely.

“This is terrifying. I don’t even dare speak.”

“Same. I’m scared that if I blink, Mimi will get knocked down.”

“I checked Xiao Lanlan’s stream. It’s completely dark… Oh, wait. Lan Mo’s just sleeping normally. So does this instance only involve Feng-ge and his cat while everyone else gets to sleep peacefully? This game really has it out for Feng-ge.”

“But Feng-ge’s luck has always been pretty good. How did he suddenly get dragged into a nightmare instance?”

“His cat kept meowing, and then he got pulled into the nightmare. Honestly, Feng-ge never should’ve raised a cat. The cat led him astray.”

“Even so… I think Feng-ge actually looks like he’s having fun.”

Qi Feng truly was enjoying himself. He felt as though he’d obtained the world’s one and only cat capable of becoming this enormous. He still had no idea how the game mechanics worked, though, but the fact that Caramel could grow gigantic was astonishing enough.

Did cat players use the same system as ordinary players?

He remembered the system mentioning that Caramel used a sub-account derived from his own main account. In theory, their system functions should be identical.

He decided to study it carefully after this instance ended.

Now that he no longer needed to worry about other players or NPCs bullying Caramel, and now that Caramel clearly possessed the strength to protect himself, Qi Feng could finally relax.

Yan Jiyun had no idea that a single transformation card had unintentionally convinced Qi Feng he was fully capable of taking care of himself.

Finally, a glimmer of hope appeared. 

But ahead of them, the dinosaurs were packed even more densely, it was as though they had materialized out of thin air. 

Neither Yan Jiyun nor Qi Feng bothered wondering why anymore. Inside a world of consciousness, anything unreasonable was simply reasonable. Better not to think about it.

Compared to these gigantic beasts, even Yan Jiyun’s enormous paws still belonged to nothing more than a cat.

After springing off the final dinosaur emerging from the vortex, he landed on the ground. Ahead waited two dinosaurs even more terrifying than the previous pair: they could fly!

The pterosaurs folded their wings and dived straight toward Yan Jiyun. Yan Jiyun lowered his hindquarters, preparing to fight.

One swooping pterosaur opened its massive beak, aiming directly for Qi Feng riding on his back, but there was no way Yan Jiyun would let it succeed. 

When the pterosaur came within two meters, Yan Jiyun exploded upward with his hind legs. His razor-sharp forepaw slashed viciously across the creature’s eye. Before its claws could seize anything, pain exploded through its vision, while its body lurched sideways. The agony made it completely forget how to fly — and so,i t crashed heavily onto the ground. Yan Jiyun immediately rushed forward and raked another claw across its remaining left eye.

The second pterosaur, witnessing its companion’s miserable fate, had already begun its dive. Yet it forcibly halted midair. Retracting the huge talons meant for the black cat, it turned and flew much higher into the sky.

Several carnivorous dinosaurs seized the opportunity. They grabbed the fallen pterosaur by its wings and dragged it away.

By then, Yan Jiyun had already reached the edge of the deep blue vortex.
