DSMC Chapter 156.2

Giant Black Cat (Part 2)

Yan Jiyun reread the instance objective. Teacher Qu’s original personality was trapped inside a nightmare. If they didn’t free him from it, he would never wake up. Perhaps the reason he couldn’t wake was because the alters were interfering with him?

Just as Yan Jiyun finally started piecing everything together, everything suddenly became bright.

Neither he nor Qi Feng had a single drop of water on them.

They had landed inside an amusement park. Not just any amusement park, either. It was a dinosaur-themed amusement park!

Holy shit. He and Qi Feng had landed directly between two enormous herbivorous dinosaurs!

Were these dinosaurs real or fake? Why were they staring at them so intently?

They were huge!!

Qi Feng reacted on instinct. What else could he do? Of course, run.

The herbivorous dinosaurs immediately became interested in the fleeing Qi Feng and began lumbering after them at an unhurried pace.

“ROAR!”

“ROAR!”

“ROAR!”

Everywhere in the dinosaur park echoed with simulated dinosaur calls.

Looking at one enormous dinosaur after another lowering its head curiously toward them, Yan Jiyun nearly died of fright. No matter how experienced or fast Qi Feng was, he couldn’t outrun creatures this massive.

“Waaah…”

“Waaah…”

“Waaah…”

The crying child could be heard again.

In front, crying sounds; in the back, pursuing dinosaurs. What should they do now?

Perched on Qi Feng’s shoulder, Yan Jiyun watched as the stegosaurus behind them rapidly closed the distance. Just a few more strides, and they’d both be crushed beneath its gigantic feet.

He opened his prop inventory, but using the Invisibility Cloak now was too late.

Wait. He still had the Lucky Card he’d obtained in the previous instance.

He immediately activated it, hoping it would actually live up to its name.

[Player has activated Lucky Card ×1. You have obtained a 10-minute Size Transformation Card. Would you like to become bigger or smaller?]

So this is the legendary Lucky Card? Having almost never been lucky in this game, Yan Jiyun immediately chose “bigger”.

[Lucky Card remaining time: 9 min 59 sec]

While Qi Feng continued sprinting with him in his arms, Yan Jiyun leaped off his shoulder. The very next second, his body began undergoing a dramatic transformation visible to the naked eye.

He was actually growing.

His viewpoint kept rising, his body kept expanding. His front paws, his hind legs, his head, and every part of him grew larger and larger! Only when he had grown enough to meet the charging stegosaurus eye-to-eye did the transformation finally stop.

Meanwhile, Qi Feng suddenly felt Caramel slip from his grasp. Without even thinking about his own safety, he spun around to find him, only to witness his cat transform into an enormous beast in a single instant.

No, this wasn’t just a large cat. It was a gigantic black cat, maybe weighing several tons.

Qi Feng’s expression and emotions froze completely: “???”

Why can Caramel become bigger?!

Within the span of barely half an hour, Qi Feng felt he had endured more shocks than he could process. Everything about his cat had long surpassed everything he thought he understood, and it had completely escaped the boundaries of his comprehension.

At that exact moment, the livestream audience was every bit as stunned.

[Want to be Human] Livestream channel:

“AAAAAAAHHHHHHH! Kitty Baby GOT BIGGER!! I SCREAMED SO HARD MY VOICE CRACKED!! THIS IS SO DAMN COOL!! HE’S SO AWESOME!!”

“AAAAAAAAAHHHHH! I CAN’T EVEN SAY ANYTHING EXCEPT SCREAM!!”

“AAAAAAAAAHHHHH! BIG KITTY!!”

“That’s not just big, that’s HUGE! My eyes can barely take it all in!”

“That’s so FUCKING cool!! My whole body is shaking!! How did he do that?! Kitty Baby, can I ride on your broad back? (kneeling and begging.jpg)”

“Same! I’m bowing to Kitty Baby over and over! (The most humble horror-game livestream viewer in history.jpg)”

Yan Jiyun was quite satisfied with this Lucky Card. He was now at least ten meters long. However, he had no time to savor his overwhelmingly awesome new size.

The stegosaurus charged straight at him. Yan Jiyun pushed off hard with his hind legs and slammed into it, knocking the unprepared dinosaur flat onto the ground.

The massive creature crashed down with a tremendous thud, kicking up a dust cloud like a sandstorm.

Frozen for a second, Qi Feng finally snapped back to reality. He realized that it’s best for him to just hide. At a time like this, there really wasn’t much a pet owner like him could do. As long as he didn’t become dead weight, that was enough.

The fallen stegosaurus quickly struggled back to its feet and swung its upper body toward Yan Jiyun. But Yan Jiyun was far more agile despite his size. With a light leap, he used his body weight to ram the stegosaurus, sending it flying over a hundred meters away.

Now that he was huge, he no longer needed to hold back his strength. He could even use the stegosaurus to test his agility and physical power in this gigantic form.

The stegosaurus’s tiny brain was thoroughly rattled. It probably wouldn’t be getting back up anytime soon.

Yan Jiyun had no intention of lingering in battle. He immediately turned back to find Qi Feng. Spotting the tiny Qi Feng standing beneath a tree, he lifted his enormous left forepaw and gently pressed it against Qi Feng’s head.

Oh man, this is so fun!

How the tables had turned, ah~

Before, he had always been the tiny one, looking up at Qi Feng. Now it was Qi Feng craning his neck to look up at him.

‘Heh. Am I so handsome that you’re completely captivated?’

Unfortunately, that smug thought only lasted for a moment.

This was a J*rass*c Park-knockoff. The dinosaurs here weren’t made of plastic. Every single one of them was alive, energetic, and full of vigor.

Teacher Qu had definitely stuffed an entire dinosaur encyclopedia into this place.

Stegosaurs were actually considered rather small among dinosaurs. There were countless species much larger than them. They couldn’t afford to stay here any longer1according to the internet, stegosaurs typically have a length (snout to tail) around 6.5 to 9 meters, with height (foot to top of head) around 2.7 meters. They are famous for having such a small brain compared to their body size lol.

The booming footsteps and earth-shaking rumbles around them were drawing closer and closer, while the sound of the crying child was moving farther away.

Yan Jiyun lowered his head, allowing Qi Feng to climb onto his back.

Qi Feng was so tiny. He wondered if Qi Feng would be thrown off while he was running.

Maybe he should carry him in my mouth? No, that wouldn’t do. At this size, his bite force had probably increased proportionally. If he accidentally bit Qi Feng in half, where was he supposed to find such a perfect shit-shoveling servant again?

Better to handle him carefully. For now, he’d treat Qi Feng like a fragile collectible.

Using both hands and feet, Qi Feng climbed onto Yan Jiyun’s soft, fluffy back. He buried his face in the plush fur, almost tempted to roll around in it.

He struggled to keep a straight face. His wish had suddenly come true one day, and he wasn’t even sure how to arrange the smile tugging at his lips.

While Yan Jiyun thought they were in a life-or-death crisis, Qi Feng actually laughed out loud.

Yan Jiyun twitched his large ears and meowed, reminding him to grab onto his fur tightly so he wouldn’t get flung off.

Qi Feng, now practically a Level 10 Cat Language expert, immediately understood. “I know, Caramel. I’ll hold on tight!”

This was the enlarged version of his Caramel; he had to cherish this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

He had always worried that his cat wasn’t eating or sleeping well inside the instance. He had never imagined that one day the roles would reverse — that the owner would be riding on his own cat’s back.

Somehow, it made him feel incredibly happy. His Caramel had definitely been worth raising.

[Want to be Human] livestream channel:

“I’m so jealous~”

“I’m so envious~2T/N: just a ramble, but isn’t jealousy and envy actually a bit different? From what I know, jealousy is the fear of losing something you have, while envy is wanting something you don’t have.

“I want to pull that guy down! Jealousy is tearing me apart! AHHHH! I want to ride the giant kitty too! It’s so cool!”

[Has Anyone Seen My Cat?] Livestream channel:

“…”

“I was wrong. I’ll never say Feng-ge’s cat is dead weight again. That’s not a cat he’s raising; that’s practically a deity!”

“Now I really want a cat too. Sigh.”

“I have a cat too. Why won’t mine grow bigger? Grow! Grow! Grow!”

“Can someone tell me whether Feng-ge’s cat is actually an NPC?”

“Quietly watching from a certain mysterious livestream~”

After making sure Qi Feng was firmly gripping the fur on his back, Yan Jiyun finally started running. Naturally, he headed toward wherever the crying child was.

Now nearly ten meters long, with powerful legs and incredible speed, running felt absolutely exhilarating. He no longer envied the speed of black panthers; he could run like the wind, it’s so good.

Living for so long in a city of steel and concrete, he’d never experienced the joy of running so freely. He could practically smell freedom.

Now he truly understood what “freely swimming” meant.

Yan Jiyun was several times faster than the dinosaurs weighing dozens or even hundreds of tons. He quickly left the terrifying pursuers far behind and tracked down the crying child.

He wondered which class monitor they’d run into this time.

Was Teacher Qu such a crybaby when he was little? Why does every single scene lure us over with crying?

Following the sound, Yan Jiyun found the crying child.

He guessed that only these children could lead them to the exit for the next scene.

The only question was, which of Teacher Qu’s emotions did this child represent?

Qi Feng had the advantage of actually being able to speak, so he was responsible for communicating with the child.

Unfortunately, while Qi Feng was an expert at dealing with his own cat, he was hopeless when it came to children.

The child had every reason to cry, because he was hanging upside down from a tree. If his legs hadn’t been hooked around a branch, he probably would have fallen already.

Seeing the pose, Yan Jiyun couldn’t help thinking of Red Boy from the 1987 adaptation of Journey to the West, who used a feigned plea for help to trick Tang Sanzang. He and Qi Feng had watched that episode together.

Do the two of them really look like Tang Sanzang…?

Even upside down, the child looked exactly like the class monitor.

Seeing them, he shouted, “Save me!”

Qi Feng remained unmoved, and so did Yan Jiyun. Neither of them saw even the slightest trace of tears in the child’s eyes. Those earlier sobs had clearly been fake.

Class Monitor No. 5 stopped pretending to cry and switched to pleading desperately with Qi Feng. “Please save me! My dad is very rich! If you rescue me, my family will reward you generously!”

Qi Feng still made no move to get off Yan Jiyun’s back. While he was sizing up the child, Yan Jiyun heard the dinosaur calls around them growing even more numerous.

Without waiting for Qi Feng to respond, Yan Jiyun simply kicked the tree the child was hanging from with his hind legs. Caught completely off guard, the child tumbled from the tree, and he landed lightly on his feet. Realizing the two of them weren’t easy targets, he immediately tried to run, but Yan Jiyun pinned him to the ground with a single paw.

The child let out a tiny, “Ah,” and then there was complete silence.

Qi Feng was quiet for a moment before asking uncertainly, “Caramel… you didn’t accidentally step on him to death, did you?”

Yan Jiyun lowered his head. Carefully lifting his paw, he found nothing underneath it: “…”

He didn’t… accidentally squash one of Teacher Qu’s personalities to death, did he?
