DSMC Chapter 107.2

After the two circled around the Pegasus, they didn’t find its rider. It was possible that the person had managed to land safely during the fall and was outside the range Yan Jiyun could hear.

“Ah—!”

They had walked less than five hundred meters when they heard a scream from the sky. This time it was a woman’s scream, easy to recognize.

People and Pegasi were falling from the sky.

This time it wasn’t just one Pegasus falling, there were two. At some point a flock of black birds had appeared in the sky, all attacking the Pegasi.

It seemed the most dangerous option was still riding a Pegasus.

Soon after, more players and Pegasi fell from the sky.

One after another, none managed to break free from the flock of black birds.

Yan Jiyun sighed inwardly: Pegasi looked impressive but were useless. If only they had some kind of fire-breathing ability, players wouldn’t be falling like this.

Chu Mo watched purely with a spectator’s mindset. His neck was already sore from looking up, but he kept watching.

Chu Mo: “It’s flying lower and lower. Feels like the Pegasus can’t hold on much longer.”

Yan Jiyun felt extremely anxious. Because he couldn’t see clearly who the person in the sky was. Now only one player remained, which meant Qi Feng had already fallen.

Chu Mo wasn’t stupid. His temporary teammate had been insisting on finding people. There had to be a reason.

Yan Jiyun firmly stuck to his original explanation. “To gather information. I don’t want to die in this game without even knowing why.”

Chu Mo was silent for two seconds. “Fine. I’ll assume you’re really looking for information. I’ll believe you this once.”

“You can believe it or not.” Yan Jiyun shrugged. One downside of teaming up with a temporary teammate was that it easily created trust issues, especially when the other person was a veteran player whose scheming and vigilance were hundreds of times higher than a newcomer’s.

Chu Mo decided to team up again with Yan Jiyun based on the reason of gathering information.

In fact, the entire time it was Yan Jiyun leading the way.

The place where those players had fallen earlier wasn’t too far from where they were.

The direction the Pegasi had been flying should be toward Angel City, so moving in that direction served two purposes.

After walking for a while, they saw another Pegasus, but there was no sound of players walking nearby.

Chu Mo clicked his tongue while looking at the Pegasus lying on the ground. “What a pity for such a fine creature.”

Yan Jiyun stepped forward and touched the Pegasus’s neck. They weren’t actually that different from ordinary horses, just larger, with an extra pair of wings that allowed them to fly.

The first Pegasus they saw hadn’t been injured this severely. Most of its injuries came from the fall. But the impact from falling out of the sky was too great, and it had died anyway. The injuries on this Pegasus, however, didn’t look like they were caused by a bird’s beak; they looked more like cuts from a sharp weapon.

Yan Jiyun touched the Pegasus’s neck. It still had a faint breath left, its eyes half open.

“It’s not dead yet.”

Chu Mo said, “You’re not thinking of saving it, are you?”

Aside from the cuts from sharp weapons, the Pegasus also had sap stains from crashing into trees.

Yan Jiyun stroked his chin. “Didn’t you just say it was a pity? And it’s not dead.”

At that moment, Chu Mo looked at Yan Jiyun like he was looking at a complete idiot. He couldn’t help rolling his eyes.

Damn it. Did he run into some naive, pure-hearted player?

Should he break off the temporary team with this guy right now?

While Chu Mo was hesitating, Yan Jiyun could feel the Pegasus’s intense desire to live. Perhaps it was a kind of connection between animals.

“Save it, or not?”

Yan Jiyun wanted to save this Pegasus because it carried Qi Feng’s scent.

Yan Jiyun: “Some connection, but no. Don’t just stand there watching, help out. Lift its body a bit so I can wrap the bandage.”

Chu Mo could only help. What if the Pegasus really did lead them to some shortcut to clearing the level?

After the two of them finished bandaging it together, the Pegasus stopped crying and struggled to stand up from the ground.

Its wings were injured too, but Yan Jiyun couldn’t do much about that, so he found a branch to help splint them.

Yan Jiyun stroked the Pegasus’s white mane and said, “Horse, lead the way.”

The Pegasus understood him and immediately found a suitable direction in the forest and began walking forward.

Chu Mo: “…” That works too?

He had used NPCs before, but animal NPCs had never crossed his mind.

Yan Jiyun followed closely beside the Pegasus and whispered, “Quick, take me to the person who was riding on your back earlier.”

The other guy is just a stupid newbie player.”

“Exactly. It makes me so mad. Why is Doggy wasting time with him? They still have to reach Angel City before nightfall. Instead of spending time saving animal NPCs, they should’ve hurried on their way.”

“But didn’t you notice how well the two of them cooperated when fighting the monster earlier?”

“Even without that newbie player, Doggy could’ve dealt with the monster by himself, right?”

“I strongly suggest Doggy break up with this newbie player immediately!”

“What’s the point of saying that? Doggy can’t see our chat anyway.”

Yan Jiyun was anxious to know Qi Feng’s current situation. The Pegasus seemed able to understand what he said and led him deeper into the forest. They kept walking until they reached the edge of a cliff, where it stopped moving.

Chu Mo muttered to himself that the Pegasus really was unreliable. Maybe it had gotten lost instead of guiding them properly and had led them straight into a ditch.

Just as he was grumbling, he suddenly saw his temporary teammate rush toward the cliff. Chu Mo was startled. “Hey, what are you doing?”

Yan Jiyun couldn’t hear Chu Mo at all. He saw Qi Feng hanging from the edge of the cliff. The man had already lost consciousness, and the vine supporting his body was slowly slipping downward.

If he had arrived just two minutes later, Qi Feng would have fallen!
