More than a dozen players took out a pile of items and began throwing and smashing them at the small bar. In the end they used something big — throwing a bomb into the bar. With a loud boom, the entire place was blown up.
As soon as they started moving, Yan Jiyun jumped from the corner onto the rooftop next door. When the blast wave rushed toward him, he quickly hid against the wall of the adjacent house and barely escaped the disaster.
These players were really disgusting. They couldn’t beat Qi Feng inside the instance, so they came outside to bully others?
Were Hard-level instance players really of such low quality?
The conversation between Vice President Fu and the short man answered Yan Jiyun’s question.
“This time the president was tricked badly by Qi Feng. He almost didn’t make it out of the instance. Let’s give him a little lesson first. Tell the guild members to keep tracking Qi Feng and his teammates. Don’t let a single one of them go.”
The short man said, “Vice President, it’s such a pity the system doesn’t allow killing.”
Vice President Fu sneered, “Even better that killing isn’t allowed. We’ll just block them where they enter their personal spaces. If we can’t kill them, we can still disgust them. Chase them like rats in the street. Arrange people to watch them around the clock and report progress to me anytime. I don’t believe we can’t wear them down. Without instance information, entering Hard-level instances means death sooner or later.”
Short man: “President, what you say makes a lot of sense.”
He called out the names of several people beside him, ordering them to keep a close watch on Qi Feng and the others, report their movements at any time, follow them, and harass them.
“Our guild has plenty of points. They’re just a few people. How many points can they possibly have to compete with our guild’s spending?”
The sneering vice president said, “Smart. You get it immediately.”
Yan Jiyun couldn’t help frowning. Qi Feng appearing at the newbie instance entrance was probably somewhat related to him. He suspected Qi Feng’s backend could see information about when he entered and exited instances, otherwise it would be impossible for him to appear twice at the instance entrance at the exact times he came out.
Qi Feng didn’t wait for him at the Easy-level instance entrance, which meant the system notifications he received weren’t comprehensive. They probably didn’t tell Qi Feng the specific instance level, only the instance name. Otherwise, with Qi Feng’s intelligence, he wouldn’t have waited for a cat at the Newcomer instance entrance.
And judging by the normal progress of a regular player, he had only just cleared his fourth instance. Under normal circumstances he should indeed have exited from the Newcomer instance.
No matter how clever Qi Feng was, he couldn’t guess that his cat could not only turn into a human but had also rushed straight into the Easy-level instance after just three instances.
This wasn’t Qi Feng’s fault. No one would imagine their cat would become an infinite-flow player. And before turning into a cat, his cat had originally been a human.
Looking at the blown-up small bar, Yan Jiyun felt extremely angry inside. How could these people still say such inhumane things?
Instances had their own rules. Just because Qi Feng had competed with their president, they destroyed someone else’s property? Simply despicable!
The small bar was gone, and his master would also be blocked by them. He couldn’t swallow this anger. It was absolutely disgusting.
He hadn’t even bullied his pooper scooper himself yet. Who gave these crooked losers the right to bully him?!
Yan Jiyun’s anger surged, but he didn’t lose his rationality. Right now he only wanted to repay them in kind.
Then he quietly followed that vice president from some unknown guild.
Damn idiots. If he didn’t give them a lesson, he’d take the same surname as that disgusting bastard!
Yan Jiyun kept a distance of about two to three hundred meters from them, tracking them by recognizing their footsteps.
This vice president from some unknown guild was also a battle-hardened player. On the way back, he kept walking and stopping. After becoming players and experiencing many instances, certain abilities would gradually improve. This vice president had a knack for avoiding danger. In other words, his sixth sense was a bit stronger than most.
He said to the person beside him, “Why do I feel like someone’s following me?”
The player beside him replied, “No way. Everyone around here is ours. If someone was tailing us, we’d know.”
Vice President: “Maybe I’m being too sensitive.”
The short man had already gone to track Qi Feng and the others and wasn’t with him.
Yan Jiyun knew the other party was very alert and was glad he hadn’t acted recklessly. He kept a distance where he wouldn’t be discovered. Even if the other party turned around a hundred times, he wouldn’t see where Yan Jiyun was hiding, let alone detect the tail.
The small bar had chosen a rather remote location, and the road the vice president took back was quite dark, allowing Yan Jiyun to hide easily.
After several instances, Yan Jiyun’s physical fitness, hearing, sense of smell, recognition ability, running speed, and other abilities had all improved.
He had rested for three full days in the instance, so he still had plenty of energy. Combined with the fairly good dinner he had just had with Gu Wenzhu and the others, he didn’t mind working a bit overtime tonight before going to rest.
The vice president from that unknown guild headed toward a more crowded area, while Yan Jiyun jumped onto rooftops to continue following him.
Most of the buildings in the central district were no higher than three floors. For Yan Jiyun, whose physical strength had improved, climbing from the ground onto rooftops was as easy as eating or drinking, especially after receiving one-on-one “custom training” from the black panther. He had already mastered quite a few new tricks.
After following the vice president through several blocks, the man entered a building of about five hundred square meters. Many players were coming and going there, so it was probably the guild’s territory.
Yan Jiyun crouched on the building opposite and clearly saw the house number. By listening to the conversations between players, he heard a guild name mentioned frequently: the New Forces Guild.
After the vice president entered, he began gathering people to surround Qi Feng and his group.
Yan Jiyun checked the list of the top ten guild names he had previously recorded in the system’s memo.
New Forces Guild, ranked eighth. This wasn’t their main headquarters but their Intermediate-level branch.
Although he didn’t approach the building, he didn’t miss a single piece of gossip he could hear.
Some players were complaining behind Vice President Fu Guangmin’s back. The man was known for scheming, and his strength did not match his status at all. Yet for some reason the higher-ups still promoted him to the head of the Intermediate-level branch. What made others even more dissatisfied and angry was his extremely cruel management style. Disobedient players would be thrown into instances and abandoned. If someone left the guild out of resentment, he still wouldn’t let them go. Instead, he would constantly harass them until they died in an instance.
Players in this Intermediate-level branch had long been full of grievances, but under the pressure he exerted, they could only swallow their anger and follow orders.
“Acting on behalf of heaven” was a very good excuse.
Yan Jiyun considered the props in the shop. Most props were designed for instances, and outside of instance runs the shop mainly sold items related to daily life. However, since Fu Guangmin could get someone to blow up Qi Feng’s small bar, then Yan Jiyun could also buy materials from the shop to create similar items.
Of course, Yan Jiyun hadn’t studied chemistry and didn’t possess such knowledge. But he could use his sense of smell to locate the New Forces Guild’s weapons depot.
He had learned from the black panther that to accomplish something, one must have enough patience.
He waited until most of the guild’s players had left before jumping down from the building opposite their branch.
While waiting, he had browsed through the prop shop and placed the things he wanted into the shopping cart so he could purchase them whenever needed.
The building opposite had a garden, artificial hills, and a small pavilion. Overall, a very Chinese-style landscaping. It was quite a pleasant and comfortable place.
Perhaps because many players were still coming and going, when the guards at the gate changed shifts at night, no one noticed whether any unusual species entered or left.
The walls had not only barbed wire but also thin blades attached. Yan Jiyun wasn’t about to risk his life climbing over them, so he chose to slip in through the main gate.
After the vice president entered, he never appeared again, but Yan Jiyun knew his office was on the third floor, a room with an excellent view.
After sneaking inside, Yan Jiyun stuck to the walls and crept through the dark corners until he reached the place with a very strong smell: the “weapons depot.”
No one was guarding it. Yan Jiyun smoothly pushed open the door and slipped inside. Perhaps to prevent moisture from affecting the weapons, the windows were closed, so people used the main door.
Among rows of weapon racks, he found the small bombs they had used on the bar.
Though each was only the size of a bottle cap, the person who made them must have had excellent chemistry talent. Yan Jiyun had watched the entire process of how they blew up Qi Feng’s bar.
He used a five-minute card and gently removed several small bombs, wrapping them in cloth and placing them into a small bag.
At this hour no one came to the depot. Five minutes later, Yan Jiyun turned back into a cat, carrying the little bag in his mouth as he retraced his path. The exit process went just as smoothly.
Humans shared a common trait: once night fell, they relaxed their vigilance. Especially since this Vice President Fu wasn’t well-liked. The players in this branch were unwilling to risk their lives for him.
After jumping back onto the building opposite, Yan Jiyun used another Human Form Time Card, put on a night outfit, and wore a black mask. He even prepared gloves.
After putting on the gloves, he carefully took out one of the wrapped bombs and threw it toward the weapons depot that had just been exited.
Boom!
Then he threw another one toward the artificial hill.
Boom!
The weapons depot continued exploding with deafening blasts, even causing the building he stood on to shake.
The players still inside the branch were nearly frightened out of their wits by the tremors, let alone Fu Guangmin, who had been upstairs proudly writing plans to eliminate Qi Feng’s team.
Fu Guangmin’s face turned pale as he shouted outside, “Run, run! Qi Feng has come to kill us!”
He stumbled toward the stairs. When he jumped to the first floor, he broke his leg. Someone from the same guild accidentally knocked him down, and Fu Guangmin slammed headfirst into a pillar, splitting his head open and collapsing on the ground in a pool of blood.
Seeing the miserable state of the other party, Yan Jiyun withdrew the small bomb in his hand. He turned and jumped down from the building. No one noticed a dark shadow silently disappearing into the night.
His principle was simple:
They could bully him if they wanted. But they absolutely could not bully his shit-shovel officer!
T/N: And that’s for the 4th arc! See you next week for the 5th arc, “Peak Competition”~

Yes, Qi Feng will be prominently featured in this arc. I personally think it’s their first romantic development.
