AMBTICBPIB Chapter 82

Mutual Worries

Shen Liyuan 1 little lucky star could now run steadily.

Fortunately, their large house had a spacious courtyard where he could run freely. Sometimes he would trip and fall, but he never cried or fussed, simply getting up and continuing to play.

Chu Yi watched him with admiration, thinking, “No wonder he’s Shen Jin’s son—just like his father, he’s fearless of pain.”

Shen Liyuan was Little Lucky Star’s formal name.

Now that Little Lucky Star could walk and run, he had explored every corner of the house, his curiosity boundless. To him, the sprawling villa was like a vast maze, with new discoveries every day.

Chu Yi once again felt his stamina failing to keep up with Little Lucky Star. He even considered intensifying his workouts, but after a few steps on the treadmill in the gym, he abandoned the idea entirely—it was just too exhausting.

When the sound of a car reached the courtyard, Little Lucky Star immediately ran to the front door, looking at Chu Yi and saying, “Papa, door!”

The car meant Big Daddy was home.

Chu Yi opened the door, and Shen Jin stepped out of the car.

Seeing Little Lucky Star, Shen Jin crouched down and opened his arms. Little Lucky Star ran into his father’s embrace, calling out in his sweet, childish voice, “Daddy!”

Every day when Chu Yi and Shen Jin returned home, Little Lucky Star would greet them enthusiastically at the door, making coming home a truly joyful occasion.

Chu Yi asked him, “Why are you home so early today?”

Shen Jin played with Little Lucky Star for a while, then glanced at Chu Yi, who had collapsed onto the sofa. He knew Chu Yi had been running around with Little Lucky Star all afternoon.

“There wasn’t much to do this afternoon,” Shen Jin said. “Let’s go out and have some fun today, and then come with me to a banquet tonight.”

“Sure, no problem. What time does it start?” Chu Yi asked, checking the time. There were still several hours before the banquet.

“I want to take a bath first,” Chu Yi said. He had worked up a sweat playing with Shen Liyuan.

Shen Jin smiled. “Alright, I’ll run the hot water for you.”

Chu Yi suddenly added, “I want a romantic, atmospheric bath.”

Shen Jin chuckled and headed upstairs. “Okay.”

After playing with Little Lucky Star for a while, Shen Jin came downstairs to call Chu Yi up for his bath.

When Chu Yi entered the bathroom, he was astonished by the setup.

As he climbed the stairs, he had assumed Shen Jin had simply run the bathwater, given the short time he’d been given to prepare.

But he never could have imagined Shen Jin had prepared so much.

Scented candles filled the bathroom with a delicate, sweet melon fragrance—a scent so enticing it made you want to take a bite of the fruit.

Fresh flowers adorned the bathtub, their petals still glistening with dew, making them appear even more vibrant and alluring. The bath bomb had completely dissolved, releasing a milky, sweet almond aroma—Chu Yi’s favorite scent—while rose petals floated on the water’s surface.

Most importantly, Shen Jin had prepared snacks. Freshly cut fruit and a cup of freshly brewed coffee, still steaming, sat on the shelf.

A tablet was already set up, and Chu Yi’s phone lay nearby, in case he needed to call Shen Jin.

Shen Jin had also set an alarm to ring in forty-five minutes.

He wasn’t rushing Chu Yi; rather, he wanted to ensure Chu Yi didn’t soak for too long, as prolonged bathing can be detrimental to one’s health.

Chu Yi was astonished by how much Shen Jin had managed to prepare in such a short time.

He quickly stripped off his clothes and sank into the tub. The warm, soothing water enveloped his body completely—it was pure bliss.

Shen Jin picked up the clothes Chu Yi had tossed on the floor and placed them in the laundry basket. “Remember to get out when the alarm rings,” he reminded him.

Chu Yi nodded. “I know.”

Shen Jin leaned over the bathtub, looking at him. “Want me to help you wash?”

Chu Yi pushed his face away. “No.”

Leaning back in the tub, Chu Yi ate fruit while watching videos, occasionally sipping from the coffee beside him. He was utterly delighted.

Time always seemed to fly by during a bath. When the alarm rang, Chu Yi promptly got out of the tub. His skin felt soft and smooth, with a faint almond milk scent lingering on his body.

When he emerged from the bathroom, Shen Jin was already waiting in the room with a hairdryer in hand.

Shen Jin had already chosen Chu Yi’s outfit for the banquet.

After drying Chu Yi’s hair, Shen Jin helped him dress.

Shen Jin often helped him dress, especially during the colder months when Chu Yi didn’t want to move.

Once dressed, Chu Yi sat in a chair while Shen Jin knelt before him to put on his socks.

“What kind of banquet is this?” Chu Yi asked.

Shen Jin looked up at him. “It’s not an important one. If you get bored, we can leave early.”

Chu Yi tilted his head. If Shen Jin was attending, it couldn’t be as unimportant as he claimed.

Shen Jin ruffled his hair.

At the banquet, Chu Yi spotted Gu Jin and the others. Only after asking Gu Jin did he realize that this wasn’t just a casual gathering, as Shen Jin had claimed, but a rather important event.

Throughout the banquet, Shen Jin and Chu Yi drew attention from all sides due to their striking appearances.

Previously, everyone had been waiting to see Shen Jin and Chu Yi make fools of themselves. They wanted to witness Shen Jin being harassed by the Shen Clan’s stubborn elders, forced to relinquish his position as the clan’s leader, and Chu Yi being driven out of the family.

But those who had hoped to see the couple humiliated were thoroughly humiliated themselves.

Shen Jin was now the sole leader of the Shen Group, while Chu Yi remained by his side, cherished like a precious gem.

Their relationship was thriving, and they even had a son. The family of three lived in perfect harmony.

Just look at how Shen Jin never left Chu Yi’s side, even when chatting with others, his gaze frequently drifting back to Chu Yi—he was practically turning into a wife-obsessed maniac.

Was this the same Shen Jin who had once been rumored to be cold and ruthless?

As Shen Jin was conversing with someone, he overheard whispers about someone falling down the stairs.

His first instinct was to find Chu Yi. He scanned the crowd but couldn’t spot Chu Yi anywhere.

Panicked by Chu Yi’s absence, Shen Jin immediately tried calling him.

But then his pocket vibrated. Shen Jin had forgotten that Chu Yi had left his phone with him.

Shen Jin had been busy earlier when Chu Yi came to tell him he wanted to go outside and explore. Gu Jin offered to watch over Chu Yi, assuring Shen Jin he didn’t need to worry. Relieved, Shen Jin let Chu Yi go play, intending to find him later.

Chu Yi’s phone was with Shen Jin, who immediately called Gu Jin, but no one answered.

Growing increasingly anxious, Shen Jin urgently asked a nearby staff member, “What did the person who fell look like? Where is he now?”

Fortunately, the waiter had witnessed the incident and recognized Shen Jin. “Um, he was a very handsome young man. He was bleeding from his injuries, but it didn’t seem too serious. They took him to the upstairs lounge for treatment.”

*A handsome young man!*

“Where’s the lounge?” Shen Jin demanded.

The waiter, noticing his dark expression, quickly pointed. “Over there.”

The waiter found it odd that the head of the Shen Family would be so concerned about someone else.

Shen Jin hurried toward the lounge, his steps frantic, his expression filled with anxiety.

Watching from a distance, Gu Jin wondered what could have happened to make Shen Jin look so distraught.

“Honey, where are you going?” A familiar voice called out behind Shen Jin as he was about to head upstairs.

Shen Jin turned to see Chu Yi looking at him with confusion, clearly noticing his frantic state. “What’s wrong?”

Chu Yi stood before him, completely unharmed.

Shen Jin strode forward, ignoring the people around them, and pulled Chu Yi into a tight embrace, calling his name, “Chu Yi.”

For some reason, Chu Yi’s heart began to race. He could feel Shen Jin’s intense concern and care for him.

Chu Yi’s heart softened, a bittersweet ache settling in his chest.

“What’s wrong?” Chu Yi asked softly.

Shen Jin held him tightly. “I’m just glad you’re okay.”

Before seeing Chu Yi, Shen Jin had been gripped by anxiety, fearing that the person who had fallen down the stairs was Chu Yi and that he had been injured.

Now Chu Yi understood why Shen Jin had been so tense earlier. He smiled. “Don’t worry. See? I’m perfectly fine.”

So that’s why Shen Jin had been so worried earlier—because of him.

Gu Jin finally understood why Shen Jin had worn such a strained expression earlier. He had been worried about Chu Yi getting hurt.

“Shen Jin,” Gu Jin said, “you should trust me. With me around, nothing will happen to Chu Yi.”

Shen Jin glanced at him, his skepticism clear. “Then how did his phone run out of battery that time?”

Gu Jin: …*Is he never going to let this go? It was just that one time! Why is he still bringing it up?*

Earlier, while Chu Yi was outside, he had heard about someone falling down the stairs and getting injured. Although he knew it probably wasn’t Shen Jin, he couldn’t shake off his unease and decided to check on him.

He never expected to find Shen Jin in such a state of anxious discomposure.

Chu Yi patted Shen Jin’s back. “I’m fine. Don’t worry.”

Due to this minor incident, Shen Jin took Chu Yi away from the banquet early.

As soon as they got into the car, Shen Jin pulled Chu Yi onto his lap.

Chen Ye had already raised the partition, completely isolating the front and back seats.

All the suppressed emotions suddenly surged forth. Without a word, Shen Jin wrapped his arms around Chu Yi’s waist and kissed him deeply.

The kiss was urgent, tinged with anxiety. Only kissing Chu Yi could calm his restless heart. The corners of Chu Yi’s eyes quickly turned red.

Understanding Shen Jin’s unease, Chu Yi wrapped his arms around his neck and returned the kiss.

Shen Jin opened his eyes. Chu Yi’s long eyelashes fluttered. The way Chu Yi looked while kissing him was breathtaking.

Shen Jin lost control and bit Chu Yi’s lip, drawing a soft moan of pain.

When the kiss finally ended, both were breathless.

Chu Yi, his face flushed, whispered, “Tonight, I’ll do whatever you want. We can try it in the study.”
