Chu Yi hadn’t realized how quickly a baby grows, changing almost daily. Little Lucky Star had been beautiful from birth, and with meticulous care at home, he only grew more so.
After a month, Little Lucky Star became even more adorable—chubby and fair-skinned, with large, dark eyes like glistening grapes. Uncle Wen showed Chu Yi photos of Shen Jin as a baby, and it was striking how similar Little Lucky Star looked to his father, except for his eyes, which were slightly larger than Shen Jin’s had been at that age.
He was a perfect miniature version of Shen Jin. Everyone who saw him remarked on the striking resemblance.
News of Shen Jin and Chu Yi’s baby spread quickly through high society. Many influential figures wanted to visit and congratulate Shen Jin, but he refused them all.
Chu Yi needed peace and quiet most of all. Shen Jin didn’t want anyone disturbing him and preferred to focus solely on being with Chu Yi.
Shen Jin didn’t even go to the office, handling virtually all his work from home, including video conferences.
One day, when Chen Ye came to deliver documents to Shen Jin, Little Lucky Star was asleep.
As Shen Jin reviewed the documents, he would occasionally glance at Little Lucky Star, then at Chu Yi beside him. Even with these distractions, he remained focused, immediately spotting any issues in the paperwork.
About half an hour later, Little Lucky Star woke up crying from hunger.
Chu Yi immediately tossed aside whatever he was holding onto the sofa and sprang up. “I’ll get him! I’ll get him!”
Chen Ye blinked, unsure what was happening. Shen Jin frowned. “Don’t run.”
Reminded by Shen Jin, Chu Yi slowed his pace. He kept forgetting about the wound on his abdomen, since it no longer hurt.
But Shen Jin remained vigilant, constantly reminding Chu Yi to be careful. He forbade him from running, lifting heavy objects, or holding Little Lucky Star for more than an hour at a time.
Chen Ye then realized that Chu Yi’s urgency stemmed from needing to prepare milk for Little Lucky Star.
With four nannies at home providing exceptional care for Little Lucky Star, Chu Yi usually had to compete with them to prepare the milk. He had already mastered the art of mixing formula.
The water in the cup was kept at the perfect temperature, but Chu Yi still dripped two drops onto the back of his hand to ensure the milk in the bottle wouldn’t be too hot or too cold.
Having not yet held Little Lucky Star that day, Chu Yi cradled him in his arms, feeding him while gazing at him.
Little Lucky Star was eating more than usual. During his feeding, he would pause occasionally to look up at Chu Yi, drawn to the familiar, sweet, and comforting scent emanating from him.
Chu Yi murmured, “Little Lucky Star, are you tired from eating? That’s why you’re pausing to rest, right?”
While Chu Yi’s gaze was fixed on Little Lucky Star, Shen Jin turned his head to watch Chu Yi.
Chu Yi leaned against Shen Jin while cradling Little Lucky Star, finding this position even more comfortable than reclining on the sofa.
Chen Ye suddenly realized that the sight of Shen Jin and Chu Yi sitting side-by-side, with Chu Yi cradling Little Lucky Star and feeding him, radiated an overwhelming sense of happiness.
The sound Little Lucky Star made while drinking milk was the most beautiful sound in the world.
After finishing his milk, Little Lucky Star gazed at Chu Yi with his big eyes, while Chu Yi looked at Shen Jin.
Without a word, Shen Jin took Little Lucky Star from Chu Yi’s arms, gently placed him on his shoulder, and patted his back to help him burp.
Chu Yi had never dared to put Little Lucky Star on his own shoulder, always fearing he might accidentally hurt the baby. He’d never even tried burping him, always handing the task over to Shen Jin and watching with an adoring expression. *Shen Jin is so amazing!*
Shen Jin thoroughly enjoyed Chu Yi’s worshipful gaze.
As Chu Yi played with Little Lucky Star, he suddenly caught a whiff of a foul odor. He sniffed around and realized the smell was coming from Little Lucky Star’s diaper.
Chu Yi looked at Shen Jin. “Shen Jin, he pooped.”
Shen Jin immediately set down what he was doing, laid Little Lucky Star on the bed, and began changing his diaper.
Nanny Yue, who had been following them closely, stepped forward to help, but Shen Jin shook his head. She had no choice but to stand back and watch. It wasn’t that she lacked initiative; Mr. Shen simply didn’t need her assistance.
Chen Ye considered offering help, but quickly realized he was utterly useless.
Shen Jin changed the diaper with practiced ease, as if he’d done it countless times.
As he removed the soiled diaper from Little Lucky Star, Shen Jin’s expression remained unchanged, his movements growing even gentler.
Just as he finished wiping Little Lucky Star’s bottom dry and was about to put on a fresh diaper, a warm stream suddenly erupted, drenching Shen Jin. His expensive shirt and vest were soaked through, still warm from the spray.
Chu Yi, watching from the side, couldn’t help but burst into laughter. “Hahaha, Little Lucky Star, you peed on Daddy again!”
Even Chen Ye couldn’t suppress the trembling of his shoulders.
With a clean diaper secured, Little Lucky Star kicked his chubby legs happily. Only then did Shen Jin go to change his clothes.
After changing, Shen Jin resumed working. As Chen Ye prepared to leave with the documents, Shen Jin suddenly said, “Chen Ye, starting this month, increase the lunch and transportation subsidies for all company employees by thirty percent.”
When the news broke, the employees were ecstatic. President Shen had been incredibly generous lately!
With more people caring for Little Lucky Star, Chu Yi had been able to rest and recuperate properly. Thanks to his youth and good health, he had fully recovered.
However, he hadn’t forgotten about his studies. Having fallen behind by over a month, Chu Yi was starting to worry.
When Shen Jin returned to the room, he found Chu Yi diligently studying. Who would have guessed that just an hour earlier, he had been playing wildly with Little Lucky Star and had even managed to coax him to sleep?
An hour ago, he had been a father; now, he was a university student earnestly studying.
Shen Jin sat beside him, quietly reading a book, keeping him company.
When Chu Yi closed his laptop, he realized it was quite late and his stomach was rumbling. He looked at Shen Jin, just like always, and said, “I’m hungry.”
In the kitchen, Shen Jin scooped the boiled dumplings into a plate.
Each plump, white dumpling had been hand-wrapped by Aunt Wu and Uncle Wen that afternoon, filled with Chu Yi’s favorite three-delicacy filling.
The dumplings were cooked, but Chu Yi’s game wasn’t over yet.
Shen Jin smiled and sat beside Chu Yi, gently pulling his chair closer. His movements were so casual that Chu Yi didn’t even notice, only suddenly realizing how close he was to Shen Jin.
Chu Yi’s stomach rumbled loudly.
Shen Jin picked up a dumpling, blew on it, and brought it to Chu Yi’s mouth.
Chu Yi had always said that Uncle Wen and Aunt Wu’s dumplings tasted best without any dipping sauce.
Chu Yi naturally opened his mouth to eat. The dumpling wasn’t too hot or too cold—the temperature was perfect. The filling was tender and juicy, bursting with flavor.
Rich juices dripped onto Chu Yi’s lips. Shen Jin took a tissue and wiped away the oil, treating him like a small child.
After a few dumplings, Chu Yi’s game ended, and he put down his phone. But Shen Jin continued to feed him, not letting him lift a finger.
Chu Yi laughed. “I can eat by myself. I’m not Little Lucky Star anymore.”
“I know,” Shen Jin said, bringing another dumpling to his mouth. “I just want to feed you. In my heart, you’ll always be a little one who needs taking care of.”
Chu Yi grinned foolishly. Shen Jin was even gentler and kinder to him now than he had been during his pregnancy.
After finishing a plate of dumplings, Chu Yi said contentedly, “I’m full.”
Shen Jin put down his chopsticks. “Really full? Let me see.”
Chu Yi glanced around. With only the two of them in the kitchen, he lifted the corner of his shirt. “Look, my tummy’s all puffed out!”
Shen Jin chuckled indulgently. He had only meant to tease his little one, but Chu Yi was so earnest.
After the meal, Shen Jin carefully wiped Chu Yi’s mouth clean and led him upstairs to bed.
Little Lucky Star was growing day by day, staying awake longer each time. Whenever he was awake, everyone clamored to play with him.
Chu Yi sometimes couldn’t even get a turn. He would go to Shen Jin to complain, “I can’t get a turn with Uncle Wen! He says he’ll hold Little Lucky Star for just a moment, but he ends up holding him for ages!”
Shen Jin smiled. “Why don’t you hold me instead?” He couldn’t very well snatch Little Lucky Star from Uncle Wen’s arms; the man clearly adored the baby.
*Well, if I can’t hold Little Lucky Star, holding Shen Jin isn’t bad either.*
Chu Yi stepped forward and wrapped his arms tightly around Shen Jin’s waist.
Lately, Chu Yi’s attention had been entirely focused on Little Lucky Star. He even felt like he had been neglecting Shen Jin.
Chu Yi nuzzled against Shen Jin’s chest. “What’s wrong?” Shen Jin asked softly.
“Nothing,” Chu Yi replied. “I just missed you.”
Shen Jin froze for a moment, then chuckled softly.
Lately, Chu Yi had been waking up and immediately asking for Little Lucky Star, and before going to bed, he would insist on seeing him again. His eyes were always fixed on the little one. It was impossible for Shen Jin not to feel a pang of disappointment.
*They’re both my precious treasures,* he thought. *I have no choice but to indulge them both.*
Hearing Chu Yi say he missed him, Shen Jin’s breath suddenly grew heavy, his body stiffening. Chu Yi noticed the change.
Chu Yi stood on tiptoe, wrapped his arms around Shen Jin’s neck, and leaned in for a kiss. His kisses were still clumsy, yet they stirred a maddening itch in Shen Jin’s heart.
Shen Jin gradually guided him, and before Chu Yi realized it, he was sitting on Shen Jin’s lap, straightening his back to kiss him.
Between kisses, Chu Yi asked, “Still not allowed?”
Shen Jin chuckled softly. “Not yet. You haven’t fully recovered.”
But Chu Yi felt perfectly fine. The scar on his abdomen was barely visible, and he had been jumping around energetically all day without any issues.
Still, he knew Shen Jin would always worry about him.
As they kissed, Chu Yi suddenly remembered something Shen Jin had said over a month ago.
“Shen Jin, how did you know I was pinching you back then?”
He had clearly pinched Shen Jin from behind, his movements so light that Shen Jin couldn’t possibly have seen him.
So how had he known?
