PCMWF Chapter 189

Look, what a mature, sensible child.

Pei Yi shut his mouth, crouching. “Go, go. Come back early. Don’t make uncle wait too long.”

Pei Qiqi: “…”

After dinner and craft homework, Pei Qiqi was turning a Rubik’s Cube and building blocks with his uncle. The smell of cream filled the house.

“Qiqi, don’t get distracted.”

Pei Yi sat cross-legged on the carpet, turning Qiqi’s head back.

Pei Qiqi looked at his uncle. “Uncle, I want to go to the kitchen.”

He’d played with his uncle for a long time. He preferred making desserts with his aunt. With his uncle’s permission, Pei Qiqi went to the kitchen to make cake with his aunt. Hua Zhao was making a Basque cake. After mixing the melted cream cheese, the rich milky scent filled the kitchen. It was a child’s favorite smell.

Pei Qiqi didn’t love sweets, but he loved the process. The finished product gave him satisfaction. Especially when Youyou ate his desserts happily, his heart felt like it was in warm water. The little boy in his custom apron stood on his stool, focused, stirring the ingredients. The man who’d been playing blocks came in, phone raised, walking around the kitchen. Filming Hua Zhao, then the little dessert chef Pei Qiqi.

“Qiqi, smile.”

Pei Qiqi’s expression was faint. He looked at him with the whisk. “Uncle, can you be quiet?”

Hua Zhao laughed. “Hahahaha, someone’s being disliked.”

Pei Yi pinched Qiqi’s soft cheek, voice fierce. “You think I’m noisy, Pei Qiqi? You’re getting bold.”

Pei Qiqi puffed his cheeks, turning his face to shake off his uncle’s hand. Just then, Hua Zhao’s phone rang. She wiped her hands. The caller ID: Sister Shilan. Niu Niu’s mother.

The four families of “Little Feet Big Adventure” were close. Though far apart, they met weekly. She put it on speaker.

“Sister Shilan.”

“Hua Zhao, you and Qiqi went to the hospital today. Is something wrong?”

Hua Zhao said, “No, Pei Yi and I took Qiqi to chat with Doctor Du.”

After Wang Shilan’s divorce, worried about Niu Niu’s psychology, she also booked Doctor Du through Hua Zhao and Pei Yi. Both children were now Doctor Du’s friends.

Wang Shilan relaxed, then mentioned something else. “You and Qiqi are on the hot search. Did you see?”

Hua Zhao was surprised. No chef at home. She’d been busy cooking, then making cake. No time for her phone. She wiped her hands with a clean cloth and opened social media. She saw her and Qiqi’s names on the hot search. The original post was from a fan they’d met, with photos and Qiqi’s signature.

[Ahhh, do you guys understand? I declare I’m the luckiest person in the world. I met Qiqi and Sister Hua Zhao at the hospital today. Sister Hua Zhao is super nice. She looks a thousand times better in person. Her skin is amazing… omitting a hundred words of praise.

I also met my internet son, Pei Xu. QAQ how can a child be this handsome? His looks are unreal… omitting two hundred words of praise. Our Qiqi is only four and can write his name. What a genius baby, cute and handsome…]

Full of genuine feelings, long praise for Qiqi’s handsomeness and Hua Zhao’s beauty. The post had over fifty thousand likes, shares in the tens of thousands. Comments had passersby and fans sharing photos. Hua Zhao looked at Qiqi, face dusted with flour, sleeves rolled up, in his apron on the stool, seriously making cake, and couldn’t stop smiling.

“See it?” Wang Shilan asked.

Hua Zhao’s voice was smiling. “Yes. These netizens have good taste. My Qiqi is indeed handsome.”

Wang Shilan laughed. “Stop being narcissistic. I’m talking business.”

“Go on.”

“Remember the endorsement Du Ze ruined? The one I mentioned?”

How could she forget? The ‘ALLE’ brand suing Du Ze was a big industry scandal. Du Ze initially received a penalty from ‘ALLE’. Then ‘ALLE’ sued him. The compensation matched the penalty. Wang Shilan ruined Du Ze’s endorsement without spending a cent. After ‘ALLE’ terminated, other brands followed.

Netizens trended “How much does Du Ze owe?”

“I promised ‘ALLE’s head I’d find them a suitable spokesperson.” Wang Shilan’s tone was eager.

Hua Zhao’s mouth opened. “You mean me?”

Wang Shilan nodded. “Smart.”

‘ALLE’ was a well-known children’s brand in China. She couldn’t believe it.

She’d just returned, no fame. Why her?

“Sister Shilan, you’re too good to me.”

Wang Shilan laughed. “Of course I have to be good to you. If not for your reminder, I’d still be fooled by Du Ze.

Besides, you and Qiqi are famous now. ‘ALLE’ wants you both. The contract is for one year. You understand, after Du Ze, they’re scared…”
Who’d refuse money? Hua Zhao wanted this chance.

She looked at Qiqi, frowning. “Sister Shilan, I need to ask Qiqi.”

Wang Shilan said, “Mm.” “Tell Qiqi that Mi Huan and Mi Le will also shoot with him. Tell him not to be scared.”

Mi Huan’s agent knew Brother Tian. Tian’s blood pressure spiked because of Du Ze. After discharge, he organized a dinner, recommended Mi Huan to ‘ALLE.’ Within a week, Mi Huan got the contract.

Hua Zhao was considering how to tell Qiqi when a teasing laugh came through. “Didn’t you see netizens say Qiqi’s face not on the big screen is a waste?”
