PCMWF Chapter 188

Qiqi's Signature

Pei Yi shook his head. “I don’t think she was there for Qiqi. She had a child with her, and a man…”

Hua Zhao paced. “Maybe her new son is at Xingya. Maybe we should transfer Qiqi. Doctor Du said Qiqi can’t be stimulated. If he sees his mom dropping off another child, he’ll be devastated.”

They weren’t afraid of Fang Qin. They worried about Qiqi.

Pei Yi forced calm. “I’ll ask the principal if any parent is named Fang Qin.”

Hua Zhao nodded, slapping his arm. “Why didn’t you look closer?”

They whispered, discussing whether to transfer Qiqi if Fang Qin’s stepson was at Xingya.
Pei Yi got angry thinking of that woman. “What’s there to fear? She should hide. She wronged Qiqi.”

But they knew. Children were the purest, kindest beings. Even hurt by their mother, they still loved her. They sighed.

Hua Zhao pulled him down. “Qiqi’s custody is still with her. We need a plan.”

Pei Yi wasn’t afraid. He’d asked Shen Minyan for help, consulting a lawyer months ago. The lawyer said Fang Qin leaving Qiqi in full-time kindergarten for seven months, causing his psychological illness, constituted abandonment. The court could change guardianship. About forty minutes later, the doctor’s office door opened. Doctor Du smiled, leading Pei Qiqi out.

“Qiqi.” Pei Yi and Hua Zhao stood, crouching to observe Pei Xu’s expression.

Doctor Du smiled. “Qiqi told me a story.”

His tone was boastful, proud of earning Pei Qiqi’s trust.

Pei Qiqi’s face was red. He held up his lollipop. “Auntie.”

It was Doctor Du’s reward.

Hua Zhao was moved. “Qiqi did so well today, so Doctor Du rewarded you?”

Pei Qiqi was shy, looking up at Doctor Du.

With Doctor Du’s encouraging nod, he nodded. “Mm.”

He told Doctor Du a story. Doctor Du praised his clear speech and nice voice, saying he could be a little announcer. After affirming himself, Pei Qiqi buried his face in his aunt’s arms, shy. After Hua Zhao led the child away, Doctor Du’s smile faded, speaking to Pei Yi about Pei Xu. Mostly good. Pei Xu had blended in, playing with children.

But…

“But what?” Pei Yi’s face changed.

“Qiqi still doesn’t pay much attention to children other than Youyou. He’s not sensitive to others’ emotions.”

Pei Yi gaped. “Ah?”

Doctor Du put his hands in his pockets. “That is, even if other children cry or laugh beside him, he’s indifferent. He only reacts to Youyou’s emotions.”

Pei Yi: “…”

Pei Qiqi, led by his aunt, carefully put away his lollipop.

Hua Zhao teased, “Qiqi, why aren’t you eating?”

Pei Qiqi whispered, “I want to give it to Youyou.”

Hua Zhao suppressed a smile. These two kids really thought of each other. Friday afternoon, the hospital was crowded. Coming out of the elevator, they met fans of “Little Feet Big Adventure.”

They were surrounded. Hua Zhao crouched, holding Qiqi protectively. Hospital security came when the crowd gathered. The fans weren’t as wild as Hua Zhao imagined.

“Qiqi, I really like you. You’re so handsome,” a young girl said happily.

“Hua Zhao, you’re so beautiful.”

“So cute, Qiqi, can you smile?”

Everyone kept their distance, greeting them.

Hua Zhao relaxed, touching Qiqi’s hair. “Qiqi, say hi to the aunties.”

Pei Qiqi, held by his aunt, greeted them obediently. They took photos with fans. Meeting enthusiastic fans on the street was a first for Pei Qiqi. No child disliked praise. Pei Qiqi’s ears were red, saying “Thank you” many times. The fans recorded videos, sighing at how handsome he was. If he was this handsome as a child, imagine when he grew up.

An auntie said hopefully, “Qiqi, you must enter the entertainment industry. Auntie will be your loyal fan.”

Such a face would be wasted not on the big screen. Pei Qiqi tilted his head, not understanding. Fans suggested to Hua Zhao, let Qiqi debut! Hua Zhao laughed. Her child was super handsome. But they only wanted Qiqi to grow up healthy and happy. They didn’t care about the entertainment industry. At the fans’ request, Pei Qiqi took a pen and signed his name on a medical form. The child seriously wrote his name: Pei Xu. A toddler’s strokes, slightly immature, but the order was correct.

“My god, Qiqi, you can write your name? You’re a genius!”

“Wuwuwu, I’ll keep this signature forever.”

Pei Yi came down to this scene. His nephew was surrounded by people. Everyone looked lovingly at the child writing on the bench. Feeling the love, Pei Qiqi wrote better. By the last one, his face was red, eyes joyful. Pei Yi’s nose tingled. Hua Zhao pinched him to maintain his image.

“I, I’m just happy to see Qiqi doing so well.”

Pei Qiqi could talk to strangers now, surrounded by people. He was so happy. Qiqi would get better and better. At home, Pei Qiqi got out of the car with his backpack, drifting toward the Shen house.

Pei Yi asked knowingly, “Qiqi, where are you going?”

Pei Qiqi clutched his lollipop, pointing at the Shen house. “Uncle, I want to find Youyou.”

Pei Yi cried, “Wuwuwu, some kid only thinks of Youyou. Backpack not put away, won’t eat with uncle, going to play at someone else’s house.”

Pei Qiqi was amazed at his uncle’s instant crying. After two seconds, he grabbed his uncle’s pants. “Uncle, I’m just giving Youyou the lollipop.”

He added, “I’ll be back soon.”
