PCMWF Chapter 171

Encountering Sasaeng Fans at the Airport

The return trip was without the production team, so both adults and children were more relaxed. Qiqi and Youyou sat next to their respective adults, their seats very close, one in front of the other.

“Brother Qiqi, look.”

A little hand reached through the gap in Pei Qiqi’s seat.

“What?” Pei Qiqi turned, resting his hand on the seat back, and saw the little guy with noise-canceling headphones through the gap between the seat and the window.

The little guy didn’t like getting haircuts. When Qin Kun took him to the barbershop, the little guy would sit on the stool and start shedding tears. His neck was wrapped in a cape, making him feel like he couldn’t breathe. A stranger told him to sit still and picked up scissors. Anyway, it was very scary.

After returning to Beicheng, the Shen family discovered this little quirk. Shen Yan had tried having a barber come to the house, thinking the little guy would be less resistant in a familiar environment. The result was obvious. Seeing the little young master avoiding him, the barber left dejectedly. Now, his fluffy curls were almost covering his ears. With the over-ear headphones on his head, the long curls stuck out messily, making his delicate face look even smaller. Pei Qiqi suppressed a smile, thinking Youyou looked like a little sheep.

“We’re on the clouds.” The little guy didn’t notice Brother Qiqi staring at his hair. He excitedly pointed at the white clouds floating in the blue sky.

Pei Qiqi looked through the gap, not at the clouds outside, but thinking that the clouds in Youyou’s eyes were the most beautiful. Seeing clouds on a plane was one of the little guy’s favorite things. Shen Yan was afraid he’d hurt his eyes, so he closed the window after ten minutes. The little guy didn’t fuss. He smiled and leaned against Shen Yan, whispering to ask if he could have another marshmallow.

The two families were returning together. The two little ones hunched over, covering their mouths to whisper, making the ten-plus hour flight more interesting. They landed at ten in the morning. The little guy’s jet lag hadn’t worn off. Shen Yan held him with both arms, coaxing him softly. It was windy when they got off the plane, so Tang Dou draped a jacket over the little guy. The airport was crowded. It didn’t take long for Shen Yan to be recognized. His height and looks were too striking. The mask on his face was useless.

“Big Brother.” The little guy heard someone shouting his brother’s name, very loudly.

Shen Yan and Tang Dou walked quickly, sending a bodyguard to get the luggage and hurrying the little guy toward the parking lot. He heard chaotic footsteps and felt his brother being pushed, stumbling a step. The little guy’s drowsiness vanished. His little head popped out from under the jacket. Many people were holding phones, flashing lights at Shen Yan, taking pictures. The shutter sounds and shouts grew louder. The scene was chaotic.

Someone saw that the little guy in Shen Yan’s arms was awake and shouted excitedly: “Youyou, Youyou!”

The little guy was so scared he shrank back into his brother’s arms like a quail, his hot little face pressed against his brother’s chest.

“Youyou, don’t be scared. Dad should be on his way.” Shen Yan coaxed him gently.

Shen Yan quickly lifted the little guy up, pulling the jacket up to cover him completely. The eight bodyguards who had accompanied them to Country D were doing their duty, guarding them, spreading their arms to protect Shen Yan. Shen Yan walked faster. He had no time to wonder why there were so many crazy fans at a private trip. Tang Dou felt like his feet were on spinning tops. Shen Yan’s legs were too long. He almost couldn’t keep up and nearly got lost in the crowd. A group of people came from the parking lot entrance. Seeing Shen Yan, they quickly ran over, blocking the fans and maintaining order.

“Shen Yan, Shen Yan, I’ve liked you for years. Can you give me an autograph?”

The girl screamed, chasing desperately. The burly bodyguard almost couldn’t hold her back. Shen Yan said nothing, protecting the little one in his arms, watching his step, not stopping for a moment. Shen Minyan and Shen Lin immediately came to meet him. Soon, the fans and curious onlookers were temporarily controlled by over a dozen bodyguards.

“Youyou, it’s okay. We’re in the car.”

The car door was open. Shen Yan bent down and got in with the little guy. The door closed immediately, and the car quickly left the parking lot.

Shen Lin, in the passenger seat, stuck his head out the window and saw the crowd behind them. He said curiously, “Brother, wasn’t this a secret trip? Why are there so many fans?”

Shen Yan had already taken the little guy out of the jacket, still holding him. The little guy’s cheeks were flushed, as if scared stiff, his eyes unblinking.

“Youyou?” Shen Minyan touched the little guy’s forehead with the back of his hand. His temperature was normal.

The little guy looked up and blinked slowly: “Dad.”

Shen Minyan smiled and reached out to him. The little guy sat in his brother’s arms, leaning forward, opening his arms and calling out “Dad” again.

“Dad, so many people.”

Shen Minyan nodded and asked, “Was Youyou scared?”

The little guy had seen crowds before. When they returned from Haicheng, many brothers and sisters had come to pick them up. They held signs and plush toys, called his and his brother’s names, and smiled. The little guy was shy, but not afraid of those enthusiastic brothers and sisters. Because they didn’t get too close, they were polite, didn’t chase them, didn’t shout.

The not-yet-four-year-old thought all airport pickups were like that, so he didn’t understand. Why were the brothers and sisters just now so fierce? They put their phones in his brother’s face, and some pulled his brother’s clothes. Shen Minyan held his little son, his heart aching. He patted Shen Yan’s shoulder.

“Do you know who leaked the schedule?”

Shen Yan shook his head, his mind a mess. He had only heard older actors in the industry talk about sasaeng fans, but had never encountered them. Today’s group couldn’t be called fanatical. Several times they almost grabbed Youyou. It was insane. Even so, so many bodyguards couldn’t handle them.

Shen Lin analyzed seriously, rubbing his chin: “Someone in your studio must have betrayed you, brother. Be careful.”

Although he didn’t follow celebrities, because his brother was in the entertainment industry, he paid some attention to fan circles.

“They say sasaeng fans aren’t real fans. If they were real fans, knowing you had Youyou with you, they wouldn’t act like that.”

The little guy sat up. He heard his brothers and dad talking about “fans” and “fans.” Was it food?

The little guy, who had been on a long flight, was hungry. His milky voice broke the tense atmosphere: “Youyou wants to eat fans too!”
