最佳契合 (Perfect Match) – 十九瑶

Chapter 6

Zheng Feiluan’s tolerance was starting to wear thin.

He was so desperate to get out of this mess that he didn’t even try to act like he was talking to He An on the same level anymore. His rage finally broke out, and he let it all out on the omega.

“He An, you keep asking to sign an agreement—are you really that stupid, or are you just acting? I won’t ever sign anything with you, because the agreement itself is a tie between us. Actually, even this—”

He grabbed the half-written paper and slammed it back down on the table, “…isn’t something you get me to sign.”

“I… I understand…”

He An’s voice was shaking. Seemingly paralyzed with cold, he drew his arms close to his chest.

In his hallucination, those long-legged eight-foot spiders crawled across the backs of his hands. Each thin leg was covered in black-and-white fur. Their metallic shells hung in front of his eyes like glossy seeds; every now and then the shell split open and dozens of translucent wings fluttered out, brushing lightly across his cheek.

Bugs scared He An to his core. His hair stood up, and his stomach cramped so violently that bile rushed up his throat.

Was this a “perfect match”?

Because he didn’t want an omega talking back, the alpha flooded him with pheromones and tortured him mentally—was this how the man he loved used their so-called compatibility?

He had always believed pheromones were tied to love alone—low compatibility meant shallow feelings, high compatibility meant deeper love. Now he finally understood: pheromones made alpha and omega into two resonating strings. Beyond lust, there were a hundred different types of entanglement—bone-deep attachment, inexplicable thrill and terror, one side’s overwhelming need to dominate, and the other’s involuntary desire to submit.

As an omega, he didn’t mind his natural urge to obey.

If Zheng Feiluan loved him, submission would be sweet, like a sort of intimate, vulgar erotic game. He would gladly get on his hands and knees for Zheng Feiluan, bend over for him, and bend so low that he gasped out “no” as he brazenly exposed his body, all the while taking pleasure in his own vulnerability. He would be safe. If it became too much, he could beg with Zheng Feiluan, who would then apologize, gently kiss him, and stop.

But what if Zheng Feiluan didn’t love him?

Then this one-sided force, impossible to resist, was like a hand pushing his head under water. When he couldn’t take it any longer—when he was suffocating and about to die—who could he turn to for mercy?

On the couch, He An was trembling uncontrollably. Zheng Feiluan was completely unfazed. He gave a cold look, not needing to put in extra effort since anger had already shut the omega up.

He picked up his pen and began writing line by line, speaking in a businesslike tone, “You’re six months pregnant. The abortion needs to be done as soon as possible. If you have your child too early and it survives, it will be a problem for everyone. I’ll call a doctor and have the surgery first thing tomorrow morning. I won’t be there because I would rather not be seen, but Cheng Xiu will take care of you. You used to tell him everything—you trust him, don’t you?”

Zheng Feiluan’s lip twisted into a sarcastic smirk at that last line.

He An barely responded, just mumbled a weak answer.

Zheng Feiluan continued writing, “About a month after the abortion, you’ll go into heat. It will be too much to handle with my mark still on you, so I’ll arrange surgery for you to have it removed. After that, you’ll be an unclaimed omega again. I hope you find a new alpha soon and stop fantasizing about me. Is that clear?”

He waited. He An’s lack of answer made him raise his voice and asked, “Do you understand?”

“Y-yes… I understand.”

He An flinched and lifted his head, staring blankly at him.

“One more thing—your house.” Zheng Feiluan paused, “Bought or rented?”

“R-rented.”

“Good.” His pen was moving quickly again, just like his voice. “You need a new place. I won’t make you leave Yuanjiang, but if I ever lose control again, you better get out of here fast so I can’t find you. As compensation, you can choose any place under two hundred square meters. I’ll pay the full price. But you only have one chance. If I find you again, you will have to leave Yuanjiang for good. He An, this is not a threat. It’s to make sure you hide properly. Do you understand?”

He An nodded after staring blankly.

After the three clauses were done, Zheng Feiluan looked over the draft again, cutting out any vague words and fixing poorly written parts. Only when everything was perfectly airtight did he set the pen down.

Now that everything was finalized and there was no way to fight back, he calmed down and went back to ninety percent of his gentlemanly facade.

He flipped the page, smoothed out the wrinkles with his long fingers, and then pushed it towards He An, “He An, I apologize for interfering with your life, causing you physical pain and emotional distress. But this is the best I can do. What we had was an accident, and if an accident isn’t stopped quickly, it only gets worse. For you, but even more for me. It’s best to just end it now.”

“Don’t worry about money. I will pay for the lease penalty, two surgeries, post-op care, and moving expenses. You can get everything from Cheng Xiu, but remember this—do not contact me. I expect you to keep your word. Starting now, cut me out of your life. Cleanly.”

It was a decisive decision, with no room for negotiation.

He An shivered violently. A numbing cold wave raced through his body. He felt like he was at the bottom of a frozen lake. Through the thick ice, Zheng Feiluan’s garbled voice said, “That’s all. I hope you meet someone who loves you… so we don’t have to meet again.”

Without stealing a last look at He An, he got up, adjusted his suit jacket, checked the mirror to make sure his collar and cuffs were in the right place, took a large bill, placed it on the table, and then made his way out of the coffee shop.

He had left.

He left without hesitation.

He left behind only a payment for the drink, a borrowed pen, a cup of cold chocolate, and a sheet of paper that ended everything.

What else do I have?

He An asked himself.

Except for those awful memories with tiny bits of joy, you have nothing. Absolutely nothing.

When Cheng Xiu stormed in like a rocket, He An was hunched over the table, throwing up on the floor.

The poor assistant nearly died from a heart attack. He helped He An stay calm and grabbed a dozen tissues to wipe his mouth. Up close, he noticed sweat running down the omega’s face, soaking his forehead and nose until they shimmered. He looked as drenched as a damp rag all over.

A quick touch—burning.

“He An, it’s been what, a few minutes? What happened to make you like this?”

He only went across the street to get a phone screen protector. What on earth had Zheng Feiluan done in that short time to cause such a serious meltdown?

Even Cheng Xiu, who was not particularly bright, didn’t understand it. Everything was confusing at first, but after reading the “Relationship Termination Agreement” word for word, he finally understood.

If there were a list of the worst people, his boss might hesitate to claim the top spot, but he would certainly be in second place.

After leaving the coffee shop, Zheng Feiluan told him to type a handwritten copy into a legal contract and get He An to sign it. Furthermore, Cheng Xiu would be the one to sign the document on behalf of the alpha. And the handwritten draft must be discarded.

At first, Cheng Xiu wasn’t surprised. This was classic Zheng Feiluan: quick to decide, ruthless, and careful to hide all evidence of his actions. But after reading it, Cheng Xiu’s guilt almost took over his professional ethics. For a crazy moment, he wanted to expose this on a TV talk show: the famous Second Young Master Zheng of Yuanjiang’s hotel business got an omega pregnant and then dumped him without warning, forcing an abortion when the baby was almost born. Let public outcry and the Omega Protection Bureau step in, forcing his boss to marry He An.

But that was only a pipe dream, of course.

He was still Zheng Feiluan’s assistant, earned a lot of money, and couldn’t do anything unprofessional. All he could do was curse Zheng Feiluan silently, going through every animal-related insult he knew, like he was watching a wildlife documentary.

When he finished cursing, he turned his frustration on He An, “You didn’t fight him? You agreed to the abortion just like that?”

He An shook his head weakly and said, “…he wouldn’t let me… resist…”

Cheng Xiu’s eyes widened, “Wouldn’t let you? He used pheromones on you?!”

He An did not deny it.

“That brute—he’s fucking heartless!” Cheng Xiu slammed the table, and a waitress gave him a dirty look.

As a beta, Cheng Xiu hardly remembered anything from sex ed; he had entirely ignored the lessons and barely passed. So he was pretty much worthless right now. All he could remember was that an alpha had total control over an omega they had marked. And the higher the alpha’s pheromone level, the more control they had. Someone like his boss, an unhinged Level 9, could easily tell He An to jump from a tall building with a single word.

He stroked He An’s back and asked, “Still sick?”

The hallucinations hadn’t stopped. His stomach turned again as bits of spiders and insects flashed before his eyes.

He answered quietly, “Yes… it’s horrible.”

Cheng Xiu let out a deep sigh.

Zheng Feiluan and He An have never been on equal footing emotionally or socially.

When Zheng Feiluan first lost control and stormed into He An’s house, he hurt him so badly that he bled. The omega spent days in the hospital, receiving IV fluids and eating rice porridge. When he finally called from the ward, his first question was if Zheng Feiluan was okay after that. Meanwhile, Second Young Master Zheng was at an entertainment industry party, champagne in hand, floating among a sea of bare shoulders, backs, and hips, having long forgotten the young man he’d brutalized in a daze.

Cheng Xiu really felt bad for He An after seeing that difference.

He hadn’t thought that more than a year later, with the truth revealed and the two finally facing each other, Zheng Feiluan would still sit on his high horse, and the only thing on his mind would be cutting ties and eliminating this omega from his life completely, guilt-free.

Cheng Xiu used to consider playing matchmaker, pushing them to be honest with one another, but He An begged him not to. He had made fun of He An for being blind back then. But he could see it clearly now: he was the one who had been naive.

He An’s temperature continued to rise. Because his undershirt was wet, it clung to his chest and lungs, making it difficult for him to breathe normally. He got even more dehydrated from throwing up, and his dizziness and blurred vision got worse.

As if clutching onto a lifeline, he held Cheng Xiu’s wrist, “Cheng Xiu… I promise not to bother you again after I move… Can you help me one last time?”

“Not a problem!” Cheng Xiu gave a firm nod, “I’ll find the best place for you, and I’ll get you as much money as possible. You deserve something after all that suffering.”

He An mumbled, “That… that’s not what I meant…”

“I get what you mean.” Cheng Xiu blinked, bent down, and put a hand on He An’s belly, “After the baby is born, shouldn’t they be welcomed into a spacious, bright room stocked with high-quality imported formula and diapers?”

He An froze.

Gently patting his shoulder, Cheng Xiu reassured him, “Don’t worry, He An. No matter what, I’ll make sure your baby lives. Even if Zheng Feiluan fires me and tells everyone in the city not to hire me, I will still do it. But let the baby call me godfather in return, okay?”

He An looked at him, and a faint smile finally appeared on his pale, lifeless face.
