Yan Jiyun’s provocative words were truly infuriating.

Six players from Teams B and E had charged inside. If it weren’t for the abandoned building’s narrow space, even more might’ve come in.

When they saw Yan Jiyun instantly take out one of their teammates once he appeared, they subconsciously took a step back. Realizing that backing away weakened their presence, they quietly shifted their feet forward again.

But Yan Jiyun still noticed this small movement, and he nearly burst out laughing.

“Are you afraid of me? In that case, why don’t you just let me take your number tags directly? Save me the trouble of doing it myself. C’mon, just do it! Your number tags will all end up with me anyways.”

The six players had originally only wanted to provoke No. 29 into coming out, but now that No. 29 had appeared just as they hoped, they didn’t know what to do next.

Talking big about No. 29 and actually facing No. 29 were completely different experiences!

In less than 24 hours of the instance, No. 29 had inflicted so much psychological trauma on them. Only now, standing before him, did they remember that he was just someone in his early twenties. There’s nothing to fear! He’s still a baby! 

“Guys, if we take out No. 29, we can snatch the Revival Stone.”

Liang Yu and Tang Shi automatically filtered out all important player-to-player dialogue.

Liang Yu only caught the part about them wanting to steal the Revival Stone. Before Yan Jiyun could reply, his expression had already darkened, his black eyes sinking coldly.

He said in a low voice, “Here to steal the stones again…”

Tang Shi was also surprised. “They’re this blatant now?” 

Yan Jiyun had finally regained human form and could speak again, so he quickly added, “Exactly, these people just want to rob me. But… what’s a Revival Stone?”

Liang Yu said, “Don’t worry, I’ll explain later.”

Since Liang Yu still wasn’t under his control, Yan Jiyun didn’t say anything more.

Liang Yu didn’t bother talking nonsense with the players. He charged straight at one of the players in front of him with a punch. The player reacted too slowly and took the hit directly, stumbling backward in fright. Their NPCs had been mostly worn down in earlier fights with other teams, so they were now forced to fight personally.

Liang Yu’s strength was more than enough to handle players. Yan Jiyun didn’t get in the way. He didn’t want to become the liability of the team.

Still, he kept frantically transmitting the thought of “grab number tags” to Liang Yu.

Tang Shi was truly worthy of being an NPC who could knock out a player with one punch. Two players rushed him at the same time, but they couldn’t restrain him. He instead struck them both twice. His punches were powerful, and while his fighting form wasn’t as professional as Liang Yu’s, he was tricky and precise. The two players nearly couldn’t hold on.

Their opponents were six players. Two held back Liang Yu, two held down Tang Shi, and two focused on Yan Jiyun.

To be fair, their strategy wasn’t bad, but they underestimated Liang Yu and Tang Shi.

Yan Jiyun wasn’t as strong as the NPCs, but when surrounded, he naturally ran. And no one ran better than he did.

The two players dealing with Yan Jiyun were his former teammates, the couple who had switched teams earlier, No. 21 and No. 22.

Neither side considered the other as former teammates. After several previous emotional blows, the couple’s personalities had shifted drastically; each move aimed to kill Yan Jiyun.

Because they were too close and the room too crowded for him to maneuver, Yan Jiyun couldn’t dodge in time, and his right arm was grabbed by No. 21.

No. 21 immediately shouted to his girlfriend, No. 22, “Hurry! Rip off his number tag!”

Despite their issues, the couple still had some coordination. No. 22 took a big step and grabbed at Yan Jiyun’s arm!

Yan Jiyun kicked backward at No. 21, but No. 22’s hand arrived at the same moment— Rip!

No. 22 lifted No. 29’s number tag high. “I got it! I stole No. 29’s number tag!”

While they were thrilled, Yan Jiyun leaped onto a cabinet, moving with such agility he looked like he’d trained in qinggong¹sometimes tl’d as lightness skill. Like in those wuxia films!

After a number tag was stolen, the player should disappear, and the plate should remain in the thief’s hand for only one second.

The other players turned—

Something was wrong. The number plate in No. 22’s hand hadn’t disappeared!

And No. 29 was still climbing the cabinet. His number tag showed no signs of vanishing.

Holding his kicked waist, No. 21 immediately realized, “Is the number tag fake?”

Squatting on the cabinet, Yan Jiyun mocked them mercilessly. “Only noticing now? Isn’t it a bit too late?”

Damn it. What a schemer!

He used a fake number tag to fool them!

He was smiling like such a villain. Could they kill him now?

Yan Jiyun added, “I have plenty more.” He pulled another number tag from his pocket and stuck it to his right arm. “Come again.”

No. 21 was livid. He climbed onto the cabinet after him.

Yan Jiyun hooked one hand over a beam on the ceiling and swung himself in the opposite direction. No. 21 had just stood fully upright on the cabinet when Yan Jiyun attacked without giving him the chance, his kicks landed hard. 

No. 21 lost his balance and fell, crashing onto the dining table. The table shattered into pieces.

Before No. 22 could run over to help him, Yan Jiyun jumped down from above and swiftly snatched No. 21’s number tag.

“This one is the real one. You just lack experience,” he said regretfully.

No. 22 stood right in front of him, watching her boyfriend vanish before her very eyes. He had moved far too fast, she hadn’t been given even a moment to react.

If… if she hadn’t switched teams earlier, would she have won easily by now?

Yan Jiyun didn’t give her time to think. Striking while she was dazed for a second, he placed a hand on the ground, sprang lightly to her side, and in one motion took her number tag too.

Like a villain, he had taken out the pair in a single sequence.

The remaining four players wanted to retreat. No. 29 wasn’t using his real number tag.

It wasn’t as though they hadn’t tried using fake tags themselves, but no matter what they did, their number tags couldn’t be concealed. They could be stolen even through clothing! How was he doing it?

Damn it, why did he understand the rules so well? And why were they the ones constantly being toyed with?

Yan Jiyun had said from the start he intended to shut the door and deal with them like trapped dogs. He wouldn’t let a single player who attacked him escape. The four who wanted to retreat? Impossible.

He walked to the half-open door, glanced at the players waiting outside for an opening to rush in, and slammed it shut in their faces, sealing off the outside spectators entirely.

The four remaining players felt a chill run through them. The two players Liang Yu had pinned tried to run, but one was grabbed by the collar, and the other was tripped. They were practically being dragged across the floor by Liang Yu.

Yan Jiyun took three quick steps forward, and before they could struggle, he stole their number tags.

The players naturally wanted to cover their number tags, but Liang Yu twisted their arms behind their backs. Faces pressed against the floor, they could only lie there and be slaughtered.

One of them tried to slip away while his teammate was pinned, but Liang Yu’s foot moved faster. He hooked a small wooden stool with his toe and smashed it precisely into the back of the man’s head, knocking him out cold. Before disappearing, his teammate got to watch the whole scene.

Who had it worse was hard to say.

Yan Jiyun harvested their tags one by one.

They had intended to delay No. 29, but instead their fighting power was scattered and they were defeated individually.

Where did they get the confidence that six of them could defeat two NPCs and a boss-level player who popped in and out like a ghost?

Was it too late to regret now?

But since they’d originally come for No. 29’s Revival Stone and never planned on giving him any chance, why would No. 29 let them off?

Tang Shi’s angles were sharp, and his moves were merciless. Aside from normal punches, he had no qualms on kicking groins or aiming at the eyes. Handling two players at once was a bit strenuous, but after Liang Yu joined in, he had no pressure at all.

Yan Jiyun swiftly collected the last two number tags. In under five minutes, all six players were eliminated.

The systems kept sending out notifications:

Team F Player No. 29 has snatched—

Team B Player No. 23 and No. 27,

Team E Player No. 11, No. 25, No. 21, and No. 22. 

All of them are eliminated!

When he opened the door of the abandoned building again, there wasn’t a trace of any other players outside.

At this point, including Yan Jiyun, fewer than ten players remained in the game.

And right then, a new notification appeared.

[More than two-thirds of the players have been eliminated. The Xiaoyun Street area will close in 30 minutes. Any player who has not left before the area closes will be immediately eliminated.]

Good thing he revived Qiu Xi and Gu Wenzhu before receiving the area-closure notice. Otherwise, if they had stayed where they were without knowing, they would’ve been directly eliminated.

While the NPCs were having a little reunion, Yan Jiyun rushed upstairs. His Human Form Time Card was almost up.

Meanwhile, Liang Yu found Oreo’s former owner suspicious. When Yan Jiyun went upstairs, Liang Yu tried to follow, but Yan Jiyun wasn’t stupid. He immediately ordered Tang Shi to stall Liang Yu.

So the three NPCs teamed up to hold Liang Yu in place.

When the Human Form Time Card time ended, Yan Jiyun turned back into a cat.
