DSMC Chapter 135.1

The Cat Demon Appears Again! (Part 1)

Yan Jiyun’s hunger was instinctive, it’s probably triggered by the smell of meat drifting from the living room, and then he simply became hungry along with it.

Teacher Qu No. 2 came out of the study with an impatient expression, but instead of letting Yan Jiyun out, he shut the door behind him.

Facing the door, Yan Jiyun angrily cursed: “Meow!”

Strangely, even after he called out like that, Teacher Qu outside showed no reaction at all. He didn’t come to open the door? Did he not hear him?

Likewise, Yan Jiyun couldn’t hear the two brothers talking outside either. Their relationship was obvious at a glance, and there was no need to keep anything secret in front of a cat.

After Teacher Qu No. 2 left, Yan Jiyun glanced at the list again. Once he confirmed nothing was missing, he put it back in place, restoring everything as it was.

Not long after, Teacher Qu No. 2 returned carrying a plate of beef that Teacher Qu No. 1 had cooked. The meat was still steaming hot, and for convenience, it had been cut into chunks with scissors. The only drawback was that he couldn’t eat food that was too hot.

Teacher Qu No. 2 casually set the plate directly on top of the list, and the moisture on the bottom soaked into the paper.

Luckily, Yan Jiyun had already memorized it. Once the plate was removed, the list probably wouldn’t be readable anymore.

What Teacher Qu No. 2 brought was a piece of boiled steak, likely something Teacher Qu had cooked.

He grabbed the meat with his bare hands.

Yan Jiyun’s gaze followed his hand, mentally complaining furiously, ‘I didn’t expect there are still people who eat meat with their hands these days!’

Teacher Qu No. 2 snorted at him. “Smells good, right?”

Yan Jiyun snorted inwardly, agreeing.

Teacher Qu No. 2 turned his wrist and waved the meat in front of him. “Letting you smell it is enough.”

Yan Jiyun: ‘You know humans who do this get smacked by cats, right?’

Without even looking at the piece in his hand, Yan Jiyun reached straight for the plate, hooked a chunk of beef with his paw, and stuffed it into his mouth.

The beef wasn’t too hot, so it was fine once he bit into it.

He chewed through it in big bites, but remembering news about cats choking to death from eating too fast, he made sure to chew it thoroughly before swallowing, not daring to rush.

Meanwhile, Teacher Qu No. 2’s eye twitched as he watched, stunned into silence as Yan Jiyun reached for another piece.

He had originally wanted to tease the cat, but the cat clearly had a broader vision. While he saw just a single piece of meat, the little black cat saw the whole plate.

Yan Jiyun knew there was nothing unusual added to the meat. After eating piece after piece, the emptiness in his stomach was filled. Half a plate later, he felt completely full. Unsurprisingly, he had overeaten.

Only then did he remember he was just six months old. His appetite wasn’t the same as an adult cat’s; at his age, he should be eating kitten food.

Yan Jiyun jumped down to the floor. He needed to digest.

He stood by the door, waiting for Teacher Qu No. 2 to open it. As for the remaining food, he left it for Teacher Qu No. 2. That man had looked quite tempted earlier anyway.

But Teacher Qu No. 2 lazily leaned back in his chair, legs spread wide, not moving at all.

Seeing that he wasn’t moving, Yan Jiyun prepared to jump up and use his own door-opening skills.

Just then, there was a click from the door.

Yan Jiyun saw Teacher Qu push the door open and walk in.

He spotted Yan Jiyun standing by the door. “Wuyun, when did you come in?”

Yan Jiyun turned back to indicate that Teacher Qu No. 2 had let him in. But when he looked, Teacher Qu No. 2 had disappeared!

W-where did he go?

Don’t be this scary in the middle of the night!

There wasn’t anywhere to hide in the room either. Teacher Qu No. 2 had a similar build to Teacher Qu, both over 1.8 meters tall. Did he crawl under the desk? Or climb out the window?

Yan Jiyun leaned forward, about to look under the desk, but before he could, Teacher Qu picked him up.

He couldn’t help recalling the “paranormal” incident those three players had encountered earlier. No way… could it really be? Could this actually be a supernatural instance?

Teacher Qu No. 2, just like Teacher Qu, might have some malicious streak. He was probably just messing with him.

That’s right, how could anything supernatural exist? It must be Teacher Qu No. 2 playing tricks on him.

But seeing that Teacher Qu seemed completely unaware of Teacher Qu No. 2’s presence, Yan Jiyun felt a chill run down his spine.

So he timidly hugged Teacher Qu’s hand, hinting for the teacher to take him out of this room.

Teacher Qu was very satisfied with Wuyun’s behavior. Looking at the cat clinging to his hand, a faint smile curved his lips. “Wuyun is being very obedient now. I’m happy.”

[Want to be Human] livestream channel:

“Damn, I want a kitty hugging my hand too!”

“Ahhhh, Qu-laoshi’s smile is so good-looking! I’ve watched so many instances and never seen him look this gentle before. So cute!”

“Kitty Baby really knows what he’s doing, one move and he’s already living in Qu-laoshi’s heart. Getting your hand hugged by a little kitty-cat must feel incredibly satisfying. Don’t ask me how I know!”

“Actually, I think Kitty Baby is just scared after seeing Qu-laoshi’s twin suddenly disappear. He’s not trying to cuddle his new owner. Qu-laoshi’s misunderstanding might be pretty big. I’m evil hehehe, I kind of want to tell him the truth. He’d probably smile and pinch Kitty Baby’s chin, saying, ‘Wuyun, you lied to me?’”

“Commenter upstairs, your imagination is amazing~ I can already picture it. So good, more please!”

Yan Jiyun didn’t care whether Teacher Qu was happy or not, he just wanted to leave this room as soon as possible.

Was Teacher Qu No. 2 even human?

Because Teacher Qu No. 2 looked exactly like Teacher Qu, he had initially assumed they were twins. But now things have become increasingly unclear.

Only now did he start paying attention to the details of Teacher Qu’s apartment.

There was only one pair of slippers at the entrance. Only one cup on the table. Only one set of utensils laid out on the dining table. This was a single-person apartment, there was no way two people lived here!

But could it be deliberate?

Maybe they actually lived together, but the apartment was arranged to look like only one person lived there?

He had read plenty of mystery novels, cases where twins committed crimes weren’t uncommon. One would create an alibi while the other carried out the crime. One in the open, one in the shadows. Without deeper investigation, the police wouldn’t suspect the truth at all.

Could Teacher Qu and Teacher Qu No. 2 be doing the same?

Compared to a supernatural explanation, this made more sense. Teacher Qu No. 2 could be like Teacher Qu’s shadow, but was there really a need for that?

Unless they had another purpose for coming to this school!

That brought him back to his original assumption: he needed to continue investigating the names on the list.

After all, he had already memorized them!

Teacher Qu was very satisfied with Wuyun tightly hugging his hand.

But Yan Jiyun noticed there was still another freshly cooked steak on the table.

Sure enough, the two brothers had been playing with him!

Teacher Qu had just made two portions of meat, one given to Teacher Qu No. 2, who then brought it into the study to share with him.

Perhaps they had agreed on it beforehand: one would stay active in the living room, while the other moved like a shadow in the study.

At that moment, the fear in Yan Jiyun’s heart eased quite a bit. As long as it wasn’t anything supernatural, it was fine.

Whatever it was, it absolutely couldn’t be a paranormal event. Those were far more terrifying than murder or arson!

Seeing that Teacher Qu didn’t touch the beef on the table but instead placed him on a chair and asked, “Want to eat?”

Yan Jiyun had just stuffed himself and wasn’t hungry at all.

Once free from Teacher Qu’s hold, Yan Jiyun jumped back onto the sofa and lay down, quietly waiting for the food in his stomach to digest.

Teacher Qu didn’t force him to eat. Instead, he found a bowl, cut the beef into smaller pieces, put it inside, and placed it somewhere Yan Jiyun could see.

Even though he had decided to raise a cat, he hadn’t intended to cling to it all the time.

His mood had been good all evening. He lifted the piano lid and happily began to play “Song of the Cat”, which he had forced Class 18 to practice earlier that day.

Without the “meow meow meow,” just pure piano, Yan Jiyun found it quite pleasant. It’s an excellent lullaby.

Then Teacher Qu glanced over, he even let out a yawn. With his stomach full, he felt sleepy now.

Seeing him yawn, Teacher Qu suddenly felt drowsy too. The elegant man yawned gracefully.

Checking the time, the second evening study session wasn’t even over yet, and he was already sleepy. He thought yawns were contagious only between people, who knew cats could pass it on too?

On a whim, Teacher Qu said, “Wuyun, give me a meow.”

Yan Jiyun felt the atmosphere was warm and comfortable, and yawned again.

Ever since entering the instance, he had meowed quite a lot. He was no longer stingy with his voice. He now knew how to use his advantages to gain NPC trust.

He let out a sound mid-yawn, which turned into: “Meow-ao~”

Teacher Qu’s fingers paused slightly, and he actually struck a wrong note. He rarely made a mistake like this. Fortunately, Yan Jiyun didn’t understand music well enough to notice anything off.

But the system notification that followed snapped his attention back.

[Congratulations, player has completed the hidden mission “ Teacher Qu’s Anger.” Points will be awarded after the instance ends.]

Huh? The mission was completed just like that?

What kind of role did Teacher Qu play in this instance?

He didn’t seem like a villain.

For the moment, Yan Jiyun couldn’t figure it out. Since he couldn’t leave anyway, he might as well rest for a while.

At least for now, he knew he wasn’t in immediate danger.

Breathing in the faint scent of sandalwood in the room, Yan Jiyun slowly fell asleep. He was too tired.

In previous instances, no matter how sleepy he got, he had never felt this exhausted. He hadn’t even been running around nonstop this time, so why was he this tired?

Soon, his mind stopped working altogether, and he drifted into dreams.

[Want to be Human] livestream channel:

“What’s with Kitty Baby? He just fell asleep listening to Qu-laoshi’s piano? He’s usually super alert.”

“Didn’t you notice? Qu-laoshi lit sandalwood incense before playing. Maybe the kitten didn’t notice earlier. I remember cats can’t handle strong scents, right? They keep sneezing.”

“Qu-laoshi is fine though. Maybe Kitty Baby is just sleepy after eating? Wait, the kitten didn’t eat the portion Qu-laoshi gave. He ate the one brought by his twin brother.”

“But that was still beef cooked by Qu-laoshi. The twin brother had to have taken it from him, right?”

“But you’re forgetting something: the moment Qu-laoshi came in, his brother disappeared. What’s going on? I can’t figure it out anymore.”

“I’ve watched this instance for ages, yet I’ve never heard of Qu-laoshi having a twin brother or sibling! Help, can someone explain? [Mermaid] was originally a Level 2 difficulty instance, now it’s Level 4. What went wrong?”

“While you guys are discussing the plot, I just want to quietly admire the sleeping kitty. So cute!”

“Holy shit, the study door opened, and it’s empty! AHHH—!!!! That scared the hell out of me…”

As Yan Jiyun slept deeply, he had no idea what was happening outside. He only felt his body gently rising and falling, as if he were lying in a cradle. He didn’t get motion sickness, so the sensation was rather comfortable, enough to make him want to sleep for over ten hours.
