DSMC Chapter 126.1

Caramel No Longer Trusts Human (Part 1)

Aside from Lucifer, there were also a silver dragon and a red dragon at the bottom of the mountain.

Without Yan Jiyun as a bridge, they would just be monsters emerging from the abyss. But now, Yan Jiyun could communicate with them.

Lucifer landed on the mountaintop.

As it descended, it kicked up a cloud of dust, forcing the three of them to shield their faces with their hands.

Yan Jiyun could tell Lucifer was in a good mood. He glanced at the wound on Lucifer’s flank and saw it was gone, likely restored by the system back to its original, undamaged state.

Relieved, Yan Jiyun said, “Your injury’s healed. Not bad! You’ve got enough strength to fight the silver dragon again.”

After landing, Lucifer flapped its wings at Yan Jiyun, signaling for him to turn back into a black cat.

But Yan Jiyun ignored its little scheme. If he transformed now, wouldn’t he expose himself in front of others? Absolutely not.

Right now, the most important thing was getting Lucifer to take him out of here.

In this vast abyss, they had no idea where the exit was. They could only rely on Lucifer to lead the way.

He now understood: every action and decision in the game would affect what came later. Just like in a story-driven game, different choices led to different plot outcomes. One correct step leads to more correct steps; one wrong step leads to more mistakes.

After confirming their bond, Yan Jiyun didn’t hesitate. Under the watchful eyes of He Yuanle and the young man, he jumped straight onto the black dragon’s back.

They had to leave immediately. His time was extremely limited.

[Time until Abyss Gate closes: 17m 30s]

[Human Form Time Card remaining time: 16m]

He Yuanle asked nervously, “W-what about us?”

Yan Jiyun patted Lucifer’s head. “Call your companions up here!”

The mountaintop could only fit one dragon. Another one landing would likely push all three of them off the cliff.

Lucifer clearly didn’t like the idea of carrying more humans. It immediately took off, carrying Yan Jiyun downward. After circling in the air, it let out a call toward the silver and red dragons. The call itself sounded like a command.

Among the three western dragons, the black dragon held the highest authority. The red and silver dragons obeyed it.

Yan Jiyun looked back at the two of them and shouted across the open sky, “That’s as much as I can help! Once you get on them, they’ll take you out!”

The young man clutched his injured arm, staring at the other two dragons in the sky, his eyes lighting up.

He Yuanle was both nervous and excited. “I—I can ride one too?”

Yan Jiyun had a simple reason for leaving first. He didn’t know whether he’d exit onto a street or into a rest area.

But most importantly, his Human Form Time Card time was running out.

He couldn’t appear in front of other players as a cat. He had to put distance between himself and the others first; only then could he safely revert and conserve time.

Lucifer carried Yan Jiyun away, but he had no idea where it was heading.

The game had given him a time limit, only 16 minutes remained.

Yan Jiyun patted its neck. “Lucifer, do you know where the Abyss Gate is? Please take me there.”

Whether it was the mountain wind or something else, Lucifer didn’t respond. It simply began descending.

The wind howled against his face. Yan Jiyun had to lower his head and cling tightly to Lucifer’s neck.

Was this really the direction to the Abyss Gate?

He wanted to conserve time on the card, but his cat form was too small and light. At this speed, he could easily be flung off at any moment.

Lucifer continued diving. Yan Jiyun felt his face and ears go numb from the rushing wind.

After several minutes, he finally felt Lucifer slow its descent.

At that moment, he faintly heard He Yuanle screaming from above.

“WAAAAAHHH—!! HELP, THIS IS TOO EXCITING!”

“He Yuanle, shut up!”

The screaming stopped abruptly.

Yan Jiyun’s ears finally got some peace. He Yuanle really needed someone to keep him in check.

The fierce wind softened into a gentle breeze. Yan Jiyun finally lifted his head.

What surrounded them now was no longer steep cliffs, but a valley in full bloom. The flowers sprouted everywhere, and the temperature was pleasant, with a gentle breeze brushing against his face. The scenery was breathtaking.

It was completely different from what they saw on the mountaintop. This was like a hidden paradise between above and below. No wonder the game called this option “Happy Abyss Adventure.”

Many flying creatures filled the valley, from birds and to large animals Yan Jiyun had seen before.

They lived here freely, soaring happily through the sky.

Lucifer slowed its flight, and the red and silver dragons caught up from behind.

Yan Jiyun asked, “Is this where you live?”

It felt like a dreamlike fairyland.

He hadn’t expected a place like this to exist in the game.

Right now, it felt like he was exploring a massive 3D game world, though it was a pity his pooper-scooper wasn’t here with him.

Lucifer kept flying over flower fields, over streams, and over waterfalls.

But the red and silver dragons veered off in another direction.

They seemed to be carrying out a task, taking He Yuanle and the young man elsewhere.

Yan Jiyun tapped Lucifer’s neck. “We’re not going that way?”

After flying for a while, Lucifer suddenly stopped and descended in front of a massive cave.

Yan Jiyun understood; this must be Lucifer’s lair. “This is where you live?” he asked.

Lucifer flapped its wings at him, nudging him inside, as if it just wanted to show him its home.

Yan Jiyun had no choice. He didn’t dare anger Lucifer now, so he followed it into the large, spacious cave.

Although it wasn’t a place meant for humans, it was surprisingly clean and fresh.

Then, his eyes were nearly blinded by the dazzling pile in the center of the cave.

It was… an entire mountain of gold??

Not only were there mountains of gold, but also multicolored gemstones and all kinds of gold coins.

Yan Jiyun thought about how he was a poor human and shed envious tears. “Lucifer, you’re really too rich!”

Lucifer flapped Yan Jiyun again with its wings.

Yan Jiyun glanced at the remaining time on his experience card and thought that he might never have the chance to meet Lucifer again in the future, so he directly turned back into a black cat.

Lucifer visibly became happy. It nudged Yan Jiyun, who had landed on the ground, with its head, seemingly urging him to jump onto the pile of gold.

Yan Jiyun did indeed smell the scent of gold and felt envious, but he couldn’t take any of it with him.

In fact, his material desires weren’t strong. He wasn’t the type of person who would be unable to move upon seeing money. What was his was his; what wasn’t his wasn’t his.

However, he could indulge himself for a moment in the pile of gold. He jumped onto the gold and casually pawed through each large gold piece.

Given his current situation, having so much gold was useless anyway.

Besides gold, there were also many diamonds and jewels in the pile. Any single piece could fetch hundreds of millions if auctioned outside.

So nice, who would have thought Lucifer was a super-rich tycoon!

As expected of a treasure-loving dragon setting, not deviating at all.

After playing for a while, Yan Jiyun realized it was time to leave. No matter how reluctant he felt, it was useless. These treasures all belonged to Lucifer, not him.

He stood on a pile of gold at the same height as Lucifer and patted its head with his paw. He looked toward the cave entrance, signaling that it was time for him to leave.

Lucifer couldn’t forcibly keep the black cat. Although it wanted to keep him, it subconsciously knew it wasn’t possible. So it hooked out a gemstone necklace from the pile of items and hung it around Yan Jiyun’s neck.

This string of sapphire necklace was very beautiful, but Yan Jiyun didn’t like having heavy objects hanging around his neck. He lowered his head and returned the necklace. Valuable items were truly heavy. This weighty treasure was something he couldn’t take away.

Seeing he didn’t like it, Lucifer switched to a red gemstone necklace. Yan Jiyun lowered his head again and pushed it back.

Lucifer was clearly a bit confused. Why didn’t the black cat like the things it gave?

Of course Yan Jiyun didn’t dislike them; he just didn’t dare take things recklessly. Who knew if this was a trap set by the game? What if taking the necklace here caused him to be unable to leave?

But Lucifer was a stubborn child. It continued rummaging through the pile of gold and finally found a nameplate made of gold. This nameplate didn’t look particularly eye-catching, but this time it insisted on hanging it around Yan Jiyun’s neck.

Magically, the plate had the number 29 written on it, the exact same number Yan Jiyun used when playing in [Hide and Seek].

Unable to resist Lucifer’s persistence, Yan Jiyun temporarily wore it around his neck. If he really couldn’t get out, he would just throw the necklace away.

Seeing that time was running out, Yan Jiyun could no longer continue playing with Lucifer.

He used the Human Form TIme Card again and stood in front of Lucifer. “I have to go, Lucifer. Thank you for the necklace. Also, your home is very beautiful, and the place you live is also very beautiful. I like it very much, but I don’t belong here. I can’t stay here and live with you.”

Lucifer knew its own task and mission. It spread its wings, signaling Yan Jiyun to climb onto its back.

Yan Jiyun patted it and then nimbly jumped onto its back.

This time, Lucifer was truly sending Yan Jiyun away, no longer wasting time.

It carried Yan Jiyun through a beautiful sea of flowers, past an almost erupting volcano, and then through a cloud sea like a fairyland.

In just ten short minutes, Yan Jiyun witnessed scenery he had never seen in his entire life.

Although his time with Lucifer was short, he could feel that it wanted to be friends with him.

[Time until Abyss Gate closes: 5m 20s]

Lucifer finally carried Yan Jiyun across a stretch of mountains and seas. On the surface of the sea was a huge blue vortex.

Lucifer circled here. In front of it was an invisible air wall blocking its path. It could not fly any further.

And this seemed to be what it was supposed to do: bring the black cat here.

Yan Jiyun hugged Lucifer’s neck and said, “This was a very pleasant journey. Thank you, Lucifer.”

Since Lucifer could bring him here without any instructions, it meant that this was the exit of the abyss.

Lucifer let out a howl in response.

“Lucifer, goodbye!”

Yan Jiyun took a deep breath, stood on Lucifer’s back, and without hesitation leaped straight down toward the vortex below them.

[Time until Abyss Gate closes: 5m 0s]

[Human Form Time Card remaining time: 3m 30s]

His figure quickly disappeared into the vortex, without causing even the slightest ripple on the surface.

Lucifer circled over the vortex for a while, as if weighing what the consequences would be if it jumped down.

The black cat could jump down, so why couldn’t it?
