“…”
“You’re a serious person, Hosokawa-kun. Maybe you’re overthinking this. How about approaching this with a lighter heart—just as a friend who might someday turn into something more? Nagashima-kun might scold me for saying this, but I’m not in a rush to find someone either.”
It was so reasonable that Minato couldn’t help but agree. If Koumoto wanted to, he could find someone immediately.
Still conflicted, Minato finished the meal and left the restaurant with Koumoto. It was already past 11 PM, and the streets were nearly empty.
“It’s late. I’ll walk you to the station.”
“Thank you. But I’ll be fine on my own. Besides, I’m sorry, but I really don’t think this—”
“-Is it really impossible?”
His soft yet firm words left Minato unable to respond. As he struggled to find the right words, Koumoto smiled gently at him.
“You’ve never been in a relationship before, right, Hosokawa-kun? Then, have you considered that maybe you’re misunderstanding your own feelings?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Just because they’re your feelings doesn’t mean you fully understand them. Come here for a moment.”
Before Minato could protest, Koumoto placed a hand on his back and gently guided him forward. He had no argument to counter his reasoning.
“Um…”
As they turned into a side alley, the streetlights grew dim. There were only a few lights, and they were faint. No one else was around.
The next thing Minato knew, he was pressed lightly against a wall. As he realized what had happened, a shadow loomed over him, and Koumoto’s handsome face drew close enough for him to feel his breath.
Minato couldn’t think of anything to say or do to escape. Something soft brushed against his lips, making a small sound before pulling away. Koumoto’s gentle smile, so close it seemed unreal, made Minato think, detachedly, that Koumoto was still handsome even at this proximity.
“Was that unpleasant? If not—”
Before he could finish whispering in Minato’s ear, a strong hand pulled him back by the shoulder. The sudden pain made Minato grimace, and he was startled to find himself pulled into a firm embrace.
“What do you think you’re doing in a place like this?”
The deep, commanding voice came from right beside him. He couldn’t believe his ears. Minato turned to look up at the wild yet familiar face of Ogiwara, who stared back at him, leaving his mind blank. Dressed in a shirt and chinos, he looked older than his age, more like a working adult than a student.
“Shouldn’t you be working on your graduation thesis or something? Wandering around this late at night—what are you thinking? Let’s go home.”
He spoke quickly, pushing Minato forward as he began walking. Koumoto called out in confusion.
“Wait. Hosokawa-kun is with me.”
“I can’t trust someone who drags another person into a dark alley.”
“I won’t deny that, but that’s for Hosokawa-kun to decide, not you. Whoever you are, this isn’t your place to intervene.”
Koumoto’s voice carried clear irritation. Picking up on it, Ogiwara’s aura grew even more dangerous.
“I— I’m sorry!” Minato turned back and bowed deeply to Koumoto, who was looking at him with a dubious expression.
“Thank you for today. But I’ll be leaving now.”
“Before that, who is he? I’m not comfortable letting you go like this.”
“He’s one of my students—someone I tutor. He’s a high schooler, so it’s not ideal for him to be out at this hour. Please understand.”
It was late enough that simply walking the streets might get him stopped by the police. Worse, the school might be contacted, which could be devastating for a model student like Ogiwara. Minato couldn’t let that happen.
“I’ll contact you later. I’m really sorry!” Minato bowed again before being pulled away by Ogiwara. As he nodded apologetically to Koumoto, he was dragged along.
Even after they got into a taxi, Ogiwara remained silent, his expression blank as he stared straight ahead. Minato couldn’t find the words to say to him.
Yet, he found myself strangely glad that Ogiwara was there with him. He couldn’t help but feel a small sense of comfort in his presence—even though his hand on his arm hadn’t let go.

Ogiwara paid the taxi fare without so much as glancing at Minato, who had been about to open his wallet beside him. After receiving the change from the driver, he promptly grabbed Minato by the elbow again.
Minato, being pulled along without a word, hurriedly opened his mouth to speak.
“Ogiwara-kun, it’s already late, and I don’t want to impose on your family, so I think I should just—”
“My right knee is hurting, and I’m not confident about using the stairs. Please help me. My parents won’t be home tonight, and my brother usually stays out past midnight when he’s drinking.”
“Your knee hurts? Then shouldn’t we go to the hospital instead?”
“There’s no need. It’s not bad enough to warrant rushing there.”
Ogiwara spoke casually as he stepped out of the taxi, pulling Minato firmly by the arm again. Faced with such insistence, Minato had no choice but to hurry out of the taxi as well.
The time was nearing midnight, and the streets illuminated by the streetlights were deserted. Most of the houses had their lights off, and the town was steeped in the quiet of the night. Ogiwara’s house was also dark, the porch light by the gate having been turned off.
Minato suddenly wondered why Ogiwara had been at that place earlier.
Ogiwara’s older brother had mentioned attending a company welcome party, but it seemed unlikely he would summon his high school-aged brother to a bustling downtown area at night. Ogiwara himself wasn’t the type to willingly go to such places.
There must have been some reason for it. But the idea that he just happened to be there by chance seemed far too convenient.
As his arm was tugged along and he walked faster than usual, Minato found himself gazing at Ogiwara’s back, which stopped in front of the house’s entrance. The front door unlocked, and Minato was gently nudged inside, stepping across the threshold. Even then, he was preoccupied with concern for the state of Ogiwara’s right knee.
“…Could you give me a hand?” Under the bright light of the entranceway, Ogiwara asked, and Minato nodded. He quickly took off his shoes and stepped inside, then helped Ogiwara climb a small two-step platform. When he was asked to assist up to the second floor, he positioned himself on the side opposite the handrail. As he extended his hand, Ogiwara leaned heavily against him, placing his full weight on Minato.
The weight sent a cold shiver of fear through Minato.
Since he had started accompanying Ogiwara before his surgery, there had been occasions where he had offered his assistance. But the strain he felt this time was incomparable, suggesting the pain must be much worse.
“You really should go to the hospital. Forcing yourself like this will only make things worse later.”
“Just focus on getting upstairs.”
With Ogiwara brushing aside his concern, Minato felt a mounting fear and frustration, unsure of what to do. Worried about Ogiwara falling backward, he shifted behind him to provide better support while continuing to assist. By the time they reached the room at the far end of the second floor, Minato was drenched in cold sweat.

*Translator’s Note: Well, he obviously heard the phone conversation. Talk about Ogiwara giving off yandere stalker vibes here. The non-con part is coming up next. Be warned. -K
