MSCRB Chapter 4

Raising the First Villain (4)

Silently accepting Lin Shi’s ‘service,’ Qin Mo’s eyes lowered, hiding all emotions at the bottom of his eyes. His dark pupils were as dark as if soaked in ink, surging with invisible undercurrents.

Very dangerous!

Yes, he was not Qin Xing. He was Qin Mo, the other personality that split from Qin Xing after being humiliated. He hadn’t expected that in just one day, that crybaby Qin Xing would agree to be the little follower of the person before them and promise to listen to the other.

Ha! The promise was made by Qin Xing; it had nothing to do with him, Qin Mo. What surprised him, though, was the other’s attitude toward him. In just one day apart, the attitude had changed so dramatically. Not only would the other dry his hair, but also let him lie on the other’s lap, and apparently planned to let him sleep here.

In the past, when the crybaby accidentally touched the other once, the other had been so disgusted that he directly pushed the crybaby down the stairs, causing a concussion. Unless the other wanted to get something from the crybaby? That’s why he was acting this way. Just as he reached this conclusion, Qin Mo negated it the next moment. Given the other’s style, if he fancied something of the crybaby’s, he would just take it directly.

Through the memories shared with that crybaby, a guess emerged in Qin Mo’s mind. Today’s other seemed like a different person, a situation similar to his own. If the other was like him, then things would get interesting. Just as Qin Mo keenly sensed that Lin Shi was different from before, in that same instant, an alarm sounded in Lin Shi’s consciousness, catching him off guard.

[Warning! Warning! Task-taker, pay attention to your words and actions, maintain your character.]

Lin Shi’s hand jerked. Frowning, he instinctively looked at the back of the head resting on his lap. The other suspected him?

But the next moment, the system’s voice sounded again in Lin Shi’s consciousness:

[Warning cleared, Warning cleared. Task-taker, please continue and complete the task.]
Accompanied by the system’s mechanical voice, a soft, sweet voice reached Lin Shi’s ears, dispelling his vigilance, carrying a trace of cautious inquiry.

“Big brother, let me dry your hair for you.”

“Okay, dry it properly; don’t try to slack off.”

Lin Shi crossed his arms over his chest, snorted twice through his nose, and deliberately threw the towel onto Qin Mo’s face with a nasty attitude. Qin Mo returned behind Lin Shi, towel in hand, skillfully drying Lin Shi’s hair. When he lifted the hair, Lin Shi’s fair neck was exposed to Qin Mo’s eyes. Looking at the other’s completely unguarded appearance, Qin Mo’s eyes turned slightly crimson, a fierce light flickering. His hands pulled the towel into a straight line with force, holding his breath. Such opportunities were rare. No matter what the other had become, as long as he was alive, he would be a threat to him.

Only the dead were safest!

At this moment, if Lin Shi had turned around, he would have discovered that Qin Mo’s expression was completely unlike that of a seven-year-old child. Unaware that the other was weighing the pros and cons in his heart, wondering whether to take this opportunity to finish himself off, Lin Shi, completely unguarded against Qin Mo, urged drowsily:

“Hurry up; once you’re done, we’ll sleep. Tomorrow I’ll take you out to play.”

“Mm, also there’s pure milk in the mini-fridge. Be a good boy and go get a bottle to drink. It’s good for your bones.”

“Oh, thank you, big brother.”

Qin Mo imitated the other self, thanking him politely in the tone he most disdained. Forget it, he’d let it go this time. He’d give the other one more chance. If the other stayed like this, it would be acceptable. He absolutely was not softened by the other’s words. As he was thinking this, Qin Mo looked up and crashed into a pair of emerald slit pupils, freezing on the spot. Where did this little milk cat come from, appearing out of thin air without a sound, lying on Shen Chi’s shoulder like a ghost?

Facing such a supernatural event, Qin Mo suppressed the urge to reach out and test it, silently and quickly drying Lin Shi’s hair. When he saw the hanging towel pass through the white kitten’s body, Qin Mo was already certain this was a ghost cat. But why had it suddenly appeared on Shen Chi, and was it related to the change in Shen Chi’s attitude toward him?

Watching the white kitten affectionately rub its little head against Lin Shi’s cheek, Qin Mo dismissed the guess that the cat was here for revenge. 004 didn’t care what Qin Mo thought of it. It just felt that the little villain before it seemed somewhat different from before. It had just gone back to the system space to send an email, and when it returned, it saw the little villain staring at it thoughtfully. For a moment, it thought the other could see it.

But no sooner had this thought arisen than it dismissed it. What a joke; it was a system, a mid-level system at that. Apart from the main god and the main system, even task-takers with high-level systems couldn’t see it. How could someone from this small world possibly see it?

[Master, I’m back. I left a message for the main system. It’ll see it as soon as it comes online.]

In the system space, many systems complained that the main system seemed to have disappeared recently, not replying to messages. When encountering problems, they could only figure it out themselves. But naturally, it wouldn’t tell its master this.

“Mm, I know. Thanks for your hard work.”

[Master, are you going to sleep with this little villain tonight?]

Seeing both of them in pajamas, 004 couldn’t help asking. What if the little villain attacked in the middle of the night and did something bad to its master? Looking at how the master and the little villain got along, there was absolutely no vigilance at all. In one world, it had been in with its master; there was a real case of a seven-year-old child who had long suffered domestic violence, one night, while his parents were sound asleep, using a sharp weapon to kill them both. It felt like Master should keep his distance from this little villain. The world task clearly stated that this little villain named Qin Xing would kill people.

“Mm, Xiao Si, don’t worry. Xiao Xing is very good.”

Knowing what the system was worried about, Lin Shi’s lips curved slightly, speaking in a relaxed tone. Wasn’t he obediently drying his hair right now?

[But Master, I think he seems not…] quite the same.

“Even if he wants to kill me, isn’t Xiao Si still here? If he has any extreme behavior, tell me immediately.”

Lin Shi interrupted 004, pulled Qin Mo over, rubbed Qin Mo’s head, and pointed toward the mini-fridge, signaling the other not to forget to drink the milk.

[Master, I will definitely watch him twenty-four hours a day for you. I absolutely won’t let him do anything harmful to you.]
“Mm-hm, Xiao Si is the best.”

004: Praised by Master again, so happy.

“If Shen Chi’s soul fluctuates, remember to notify me in advance.” Damn, this was also a time bomb.

[Rest assured, Master. I’ll monitor it in real time.]
Qin Mo held the pure milk with both hands, the sweet, milky fragrance filling his mouth. His eyes watched the little white cat wandering around Lin Shi. Watching the other occasionally hover in the air, acting cute, rolling around, he could sense the cat was in a very good mood. And Shen Chi, based on his careful observation, could clearly see the little white cat just like him. The other even unconsciously rubbed back when the little white cat nuzzled his cheek. The look in his eyes when looking at the kitten was gentler than when looking at him.

Hmph, hypocrite!

He absolutely refused to admit that for a moment, he had minded. Lin Shi looked at Qin Mo sitting upright in the chair and suddenly thought of the other’s age. A child this age drinking milk at night- would he wet the bed?

“If you dare wet my bed while sleeping, see how I’ll deal with you tomorrow.”

Lin Shi had originally said this to test the waters and to reinforce his character. But as soon as the words left his mouth, he saw Qin Mo’s face flush bright red, his ink-black eyes glaring at him angrily, retorting in shame and anger:

“You’re the one who wets the bed; your whole family wets the bed!”

Qin Mo slammed the empty milk bottle heavily on the desk, and, regardless of pretending to be the other self, retorted and huffily prepared to leave the room. Seeing this, Lin Shi quickly pulled him back into his arms.

“Aren’t you part of my family?”

The subtext: saying that is saying yourself. Qin Mo glared fiercely at Lin Shi, about to retort, ‘Who’s family with you,’ but meeting Lin Shi’s smiling eyes, his reason instantly returned. He lowered his head, restrained his emotions, and said in a muffled voice:

“I’m already seven. I won’t wet the bed. Big brother, I’d better go back to the attic to sleep.”

“Alright, alright, just teasing you. Don’t be angry. It’s very late; let’s sleep first.”

Having gotten the answer that the other wouldn’t wet the bed, Lin Shi coaxed the person in his arms. This Qin Mo, who would get angry and retort, in Lin Shi’s eyes, seemed more vivid and adorable. He hoped that one day the other could be carefree, not just in front of him, but in this home, no longer needing to be timid and wronged. He brought the person to bed and turned off the lights. Watching the little villain beside him instantly fall asleep with steady breathing, Lin Shi couldn’t help but pull out a smile.

Really, just a child- falls asleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. Recalling the day’s interactions with Qin Mo, Lin Shi sighed. This child was too sensitive. Helping him grow up healthy in body and mind would be no small challenge.

“Goodnight, little star.”

The murmured words echoed in the silent room, drilling into Qin Mo’s ears, making the originally pretending-to-sleep Qin Mo’s ears burn uncontrollably. He listened carefully to the movements of the person beside him. The warm, soft touch on his cheek made Qin Mo’s body stiffen instantly, his mind going blank.

He-he had actually been kissed!!!

The other had actually kissed him while he was sleeping. So annoying! After the brief shock, Qin Mo forced down the urge to push the person beside him away, quietly waiting for the other to fall asleep. But the next moment, he was pulled into a full embrace. The faint scent of body wash lingered at the tip of his nose. Qin Mo tried to move, only to find the arm around his waist tightening, making it somewhat difficult to move. Damn it, he was being treated like a rag doll!

He knew it; how could the other be so kind as to let him sleep in the room? There was definitely a purpose. Counting someone’s heartbeat in his mind, Qin Mo gradually grew sleepy. An unfamiliar emotion spread in his chest, the corners of his lips curling up slightly. Considering the bed was so soft, he’d let it go for now!

Morning sunlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling window, lighting up the room. Lin Shi had slept well all night. The corners of his lips curved slightly, in an excellent mood as he opened his eyes. He lowered his head to see if the little villain in his arms was awake, only to find the other looking at him with an expression on the verge of tears, eyes full of caution.

“Big brother, can you let go of me? I want to go to the bathroom. I can’t hold it anymore.”

Author’s Note:*

——Just kidding around——

Lin Shi: Why do I feel a chill on my neck?

004: Congratulations, Master. You’re only now feeling the fact that you brushed past death.

Little Qin Xing (innocent eyes): Big brother, what’s wrong?

Little Qin Mo (proud and tsundere): Finally noticed I’m different?
