Here we go again, here we go again.
Song Li really couldn’t understand it sometimes. He Muyan seemed like an exceptionally cold and obtuse person, yet in certain aspects, he appeared entirely in his element. With this kind of intentional or unintentional verbal flirting, Song Li wouldn’t be able to withstand it even if it happened another hundred times.
Fearing that he would discover his face was about to burn bright red, he hurriedly turned his head and stood up.
“It’s getting late. Let’s take a shower and go to bed quickly.”
He Muyan asked him, “Are there any clothes I can wear?”
They originally hadn’t planned on staying overnight today, so they hadn’t made any preparations. However, Mother Song had been far too enthusiastic, insisting no matter what that they stay over for the night. Hospitable invitations are hard to refuse, so they had no choice but to agree.
After thinking for a moment, Song Li walked over to the wardrobe nearby and rummaged through it for a while. Eventually, he pulled out a set of light gray plaid pajamas, “I rarely come back recently either, so these clothes were bought a long time ago. If you wear them, they might be a little small.”
He Muyan took them, “It’s fine.”
By the time both of them finished showering, it was already nearly ten o’clock. Song Li was sitting on the bed scrolling through Weibo on his phone. As he scrolled, he would still steal glances to the side from time to time.
He Muyan sat at the edge of the bed wiping his hair. Song Li’s pajamas were simply too small for him, so he had simply chosen not to wear the top. His lean, muscular upper body was exposed. His physique was truly excellent with all the muscles he ought to have, evenly distributed beneath his skin; beautiful yet without any lack of a sense of strength.
Looking at it made Song Li want to swallow his saliva.
“Song Li.”
He Muyan turned around suddenly, catching Song Li completely off guard. He hurriedly and flusteredly picked up his phone before looking at it randomly.
“W-What’s wrong?”
Looking at his unnatural expression, He Muyan’s lips curved into a smile.
“What are you nervous about?”
Song Li’s hand gripping the phone paused, and he stubbornly blurted out, “Who… who’s nervous! This is my room. If anyone should be nervous, it ought to be you.”
He thought He Muyan would take the opportunity to tease him further, but unexpectedly, the man flipped directly onto the bed and said in a very low voice, “I am a little nervous.”
Song Li was stunned. Just as he was about to lift his head to see what kind of expression he had while saying those words, he heard a click, and the light was turned off again.
“Let’s sleep.”
He Muyan’s slightly deep voice came from beside him.
Song Li blinked, finding the scene before him incredibly familiar.
This man He Muyan really had quite a knack for escaping reality.
Since the light was already turned off, he felt too embarrassed to turn it back on, so he could only set his phone aside and lie down rather deflatedly.
Having slept for so long in the afternoon, he actually wasn’t sleepy at all right now, and He Muyan was surely the same as him.
Song Li visualized a mental picture of the two of them staring in the dark with eyes as wide and bright as lightbulbs, beaming rays of light at each other, and he really couldn’t resist letting out a laugh.
He Muyan turned his head and asked him, “What’s wrong?”
Song Li cleared his throat, speaking up with some embarrassment, “It’s nothing, I just thought of something funny. Are you unable to sleep too?”
He Muyan let out a low “En.”
Feeling that this was a good opportunity, Song Li flipped over with great enthusiasm, “We slept too long in the afternoon, so I can’t sleep either. Why don’t we chat for a bit?”
Looking at his eyes which remained bright even in the darkness, He Muyan curved the corners of his lips, “Okay, what do you want to chat about?”
What to chat about… that truly was a good question.
Song Li fell silent. How awkward. He had just blurted it out in the heat of the moment, but thinking about it now, he and He Muyan didn’t seem to have any common topics to talk about at all.
As if sensing his awkwardness, He Muyan unexpectedly took the initiative to speak first, “Aside from not being able to eat foods like red meat and fatty meat, is there anything else you can’t eat?”
Song Li let out a confused “Huh?” He was a bit surprised that He Muyan still remembered this matter after so long. After thinking it over, he answered seriously, “Aside from red meat, I actually find the gamey smell of mutton a bit hard to accept. As for vegetables, I’ve always thought the taste of cilantro and celery is a bit strange. And seafood… I seem to be a little allergic to it, so I rarely ever eat it…”
The more he spoke, the more embarrassed Song Li became. He lifted his head to look at him, “Am I too much of a picky eater…?”
“Shh.” He Muyan suddenly interrupted him, leaning down close to his ear to say, “Listen.”
He had suddenly approached way too close. His lips were practically pressed against Song Li’s ear, making it feel as if he might take his earlobe into his mouth at any moment while speaking.
Song Li’s heart beat incredibly fast, yet he still had to spare some attention to listen for the sound He Muyan mentioned.
Holding his breath and listening intently for a while, it seemed to be coming from next door; it was moans and gasps, intermittent and broken, sounding like a man’s voice at one moment and a woman’s voice the next.
Song Li was utterly bewildered at first, but a moment later, it suddenly clicked. His face instantly burned intensely as he flusteredly explained, “This… this should be from the neighbors. I heard my mom say that a newlywed young couple just moved in next door recently. The house here is old, so the walls aren’t very soundproof. D-Don’t mind it…”
After listening to him finish, He Muyan let out a low, hoarse “En”, “It’s fine.”
Neither of them spoke anymore, and the surroundings instantly fell quiet. With their side becoming quiet, it made the noises from next door stand out even more. Whether it was because Song Li was paying too much attention to it or something else, he felt as if their movements were getting louder and louder, the cries drilling straight into his ears.
This sense of shame was truly too much for Song Li to bear, so he pulled up the blanket, wanting to cover his face.
A hand stopped his movement. He Muyan had leaned over at some point, hovering above him, gripping both of his hands to lift and pin them above his head.
This restrained position left Song Li with a severe lack of a sense of security. He seemed to know what He Muyan wanted to do, yet he didn’t dare believe he would actually do it.
Frightened, he spoke up to call his name, “He Muyan, He Muyan.”
“Shh,” He Muyan said in a hoarse voice. “Keep your voice down.”
Sensing the tenseness in his body, He Muyan said with a light laugh, “They are a newlywed couple, and we are a newlywed couple too. If they can do it, we can do it too.”
Even if we can, we don’t necessarily have to do it right now!
Song Li was incredibly embarrassed, his voice even carrying a hint of a crying tone, “We’ll be… heard by my parents.”
He Muyan’s voice seemed to grow even thicker, “Don’t cry.”
Song Li felt immensely aggrieved, “I’m not crying at all, it’s you who is bullying me.”
He Muyan narrowed his eyes, suddenly lowering his head to bite his neck; it was viciously, as if he wanted to tear off a piece of his flesh.
Song Li cried out from the pain with tears instantly falling, “Are… are you crazy? It hurts so much!”
He Muyan let out a raspy “En.” Song Li felt his hands shaking slightly. He exhaled to compose himself and called out in a small voice, “He Muyan, He Muyan, let go of my hands.”
He Muyan’s movements paused, but he didn’t let go immediately.
Song Li sighed, softening his tone, “Don’t worry, I won’t run away. I just…”
Speaking up to this point, Song Li felt the temperature on his face grow even hotter. Enduring the shame, he continued, “I just… want to hold you.”
The movements of He Muyan’s hands ground to a halt, and he lifted his head to look at him.
In the darkness, Song Li’s tear-filled eyes were translucent and beautiful, yet he looked as bashful and timid as a startled little animal.
He couldn’t resist planting a kiss on them before slowly releasing his grip.
Song Li let out an exhale and rotated his wrists, which were aching from being squeezed by him. Looking at the man still hovering over him, he reached out to wrap his arms around his shoulders.
He Muyan’s back was very broad and thick; it always gave a firm and stable sense of security whether holding him or being held by him.
“He Muyan,” Song Li whispered close to his ear, “take me.”
This sentence was the most fatal mistake Song Li made that night.
It was also on this day that he truly and genuinely experienced just how infinite the physical strength and energy of a young man five years his junior could be.
It turned out that during the previous few times, He Muyan had actually been showing him mercy.
Was this the disparity between an aging waist and a prime-of-life waist?
He understood now.
When he woke up the next day, he almost couldn’t even feel his own body.
Rolling over on the bed with great difficulty, he nearly cost himself his old life.
He Muyan was putting on his clothes nearby. Hearing the sound, he turned around and bent down to look at him, “You’re awake. How do you feel?”
Song Li turned his head, revealing the red rims of his eyes. Looking at the refreshed and invigorated face before him, he spoke through gritted teeth, “My waist is about to break.”
He Muyan touched his face, “Then don’t force yourself to get up just yet. Sleep a bit longer.”
Looking at his concerned eyes and brows, Song Li let out a sigh, “No, I want to get up.”
After saying that, he pressed against the bed to slowly sit up, while He Muyan extended his arm behind him to help support his body.
Song Li finally managed to sit properly. Pursing his lips, he shot him a sideways glance, “You went way too far last night.”
He Muyan let out a low hum, gently rubbing and kneading his lower back with his large hand, “I put you through a lot of trouble.”
Looking at his expression, Song Li felt as if he were looking at a lion on the savanna that had just finished hunting and eating; satiated, lazy, and with a few large words explicitly written in his gaze: I know I was wrong, but I’ll do it again next time.
Fearing the aftermath, he shifted his body backward a bit but suddenly felt a tug of pain somewhere on his neck.
He couldn’t help but lift his hand to touch it.
Noticing his movement, He Muyan looked down and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Song Li shook his head, “My neck suddenly hurts a bit here.”
He Muyan moved his hand away, “Let me see.”
Therefore, Song Li tilted his head up to let him look. Spotting the change in He Muyan’s expression, his heart skipped a beat, and he asked nervously, “W-What’s wrong?”
He Muyan’s finger brushed against that spot, and he said in a low voice, “It scabbed over.”
“What scabbed over…”
Song Li was about to ask how his neck could possibly have a scab when it was perfectly fine, but then he suddenly remembered how He Muyan had bitten him like crazy last night. He silently shut his mouth and lifted his eyes to look at the man in front of him.
He Muyan’s gaze carried an apology, “Does it hurt a lot?”
It had already scabbed over, so it wasn’t even a matter of whether it hurt or not anymore. Feeling huffy, Song Li swatted his hand away and checked it using the front-facing camera of his phone, nearly fainting from shock.
“It’s such a large mark. How am I supposed to explain it if someone sees it?”
Like a child who had done something wrong and was being scolded, He Muyan lowered his eyelashes with a hint of ingratiation in his tone, “Wear clothes with a collar to cover it up for now.”
That was the only way; otherwise, how could he go out and face people? Song Li silently nursed his anger for a moment. Looking at the big guy still hovering in front of him, he thought to himself that his apology just now had been quite sincere. Furthermore, given He Muyan’s usual personality, compromising to this extent was already considered highly unusual.
Thinking about it this way, his heart couldn’t help but soften again. He lifted his head to look at him, “I’m fine now. Just don’t do it again next time.”
He Muyan’s expression instantly turned from cloudy to bright, and he even unexpectedly leaned down to plant a kiss on his cheek, “Lili is so nice.”
