With some self-righteous, sweet little thoughts of his own, Song Li’s heart softened quite a bit. He turned his head and asked in a low voice, “Are you feeling unwell?”
He Muyan’s head was already resting in the crook of his neck, his breath hot as he exhaled, “En, my head is a bit dizzy.”
Hearing his voice, he sounded truly miserable. Song Li couldn’t help but start worrying, reaching out to hold his arm, “If you’re feeling unwell, don’t force yourself to hold it in. Do you feel like throwing up? Why don’t you go inside and lie down for a while?”
He Muyan lifted his eyelashes to look at him, his dark eyes deep and dark like ink, “To where?”
Looking at his constantly fluttering long eyelashes, Song Li resisted the urge to brush them with his fingers, “Go to my room.”
He Muyan looked at him for a moment longer, a very faint smile seeming to float in his eyes, and said in a hoarse voice, “Okay.”
Song Li then helped him to his room.
He hadn’t lived at home for a long time, but fortunately, Mother Song would clean his room regularly, so it looked very neat and clean.
The bedsheets and quilt smelled sweet and fragrant; she must have specially changed them for new ones, knowing they were coming over today.
He Muyan lay on the bed, his gaze slowly scanning the surroundings.
Song Li bent down to help him take off his shoes and pulled over the blanket nearby to cover him. But just as he was about to stand up, his wrist was suddenly grabbed.
He was startled and looked down at the person beneath him, “What’s wrong?”
He Muyan seemed to be feeling the effects of the alcohol rushing to his head. His eyelashes covered most of his pupils, his gaze unfocused, and it was hard to tell if he was even looking at him, “I’m uncomfortable…”
Song Li thought, Is he acting spoiled?
The drunk He Muyan was simply too endearing!
Song Li’s heart was thumping wildly, almost completely out of control. He reached out and gently patted him over the blanket, “You’ll feel better after a nap. Be good.”
However, He Muyan’s grip on his hand tightened slightly, staring at him with his ink-like eyes, “I’m not drunk.”
Song Li let out a confused “Huh?”
He Muyan’s tone sounded somewhat aggrieved, “I’m not drunk. You don’t have to coax me like this.”
Song Li blinked. They say that drunk people never admit they’re drunk, and that saying was truly accurate; he was even starting to feel aggrieved now.
Smiling, he softened his tone even more, “Alright, alright, you’re not drunk. Sleep for a bit first, I won’t disturb you… Ah!”
Before he could finish his sentence, he was pulled down by a sudden force. Song Li’s face crashed right into the chest of the man beneath him, the pain almost bringing tears to his eyes.
Struggling to lift his head, he asked, “W-What’s wrong?”
He Muyan cupped his face with one hand, rubbing gently against his lower eyelid with his thumb, “You sleep too.”
Song Li squinted his eyes from the itchiness, saying curiously, “I didn’t drink alcohol, I’m not sleepy.”
Watching his little habit of squinting, He Muyan’s breathing somehow grew a bit heavy, “Sleep together.”
Song Li felt like there was no way to communicate properly with He Muyan right now. And how should he put it? Although the usual He Muyan already had a bit of a straight-guy obtuseness combined with male chauvinism, the drunk version of him seemed to have added a touch of stubbornness and domineering behavior, being incredibly forceful.
What could he do? He liked it so much.
Song Li pursed his lips and said in a very small voice, “My bed isn’t big. It’ll be a bit crowded with two people.”
He Muyan let out a low hum, his throat unusually hoarse. He shifted his body further inside to free up some space, his large hand still firmly clamped around Song Li’s waist, refusing to let go, “Come here.”
With He Muyan in this position, Song Li couldn’t even stand up to take off his shoes. He had no choice but to kick them off with his feet and lie down on his side.
He Muyan smoothly scooped him into his arms before slipping one arm under his underarm while pressing his large palm against his back. The palm felt frighteningly scalding through the thin layer of his shirt.
Song Li’s face was pressed against his firm chest, and he swallowed hard; he was a bit nervous.
After all, the way he and He Muyan usually interacted couldn’t really be considered very intimate. Their physical contact was pitifully scarce. Aside from when they did that business at night, most of the time they treated each other with mutual respect, being excessively polite and deferential.
Being so straightforwardly sought after and depended upon by He Muyan like this right now was truly an unprecedented first time.
Alcohol really was a wonderful thing.
The scent on He Muyan mixed with the smell of alcohol, and as it evaporated from their shared body heat, it slowly seemed to ferment into a completely different kind of aroma. It smelled wonderful, making Song Li feel somewhat spellbound even though he hadn’t had a drink.
The restlessness inside his chest grew intense, causing him to rub against He Muyan’s embrace uncomfortably.
He Muyan’s chin rested on his hair. With his eyelashes lowered, his voice was low and deep, sounding as if he might fall asleep at any moment, “What’s wrong?”
Song Li tilted his head up slightly and happened to meet his downward gaze. His heart stirred slightly, and he gave an embarrassed smile, “You’re holding me so tight, it’s a bit hot.”
Hearing this, He Muyan still didn’t loosen his grip. He pinched his chin with his fingers with his thumb brushing against his lips.
“So red…”
“Huh?” It took Song Li a moment to realize that he was probably talking about his lips. He was just like that; whenever he got nervous, he tended to blush easily. Not only did his face turn red, but his neck would too, and even the color of his lips would become much deeper than usual. He was just like a child, far too thin-skinned.
Embarrassed, he bit his lower lip with his teeth, “I… I just have this issue. Once my face turns red, everything turns red. I…”
He Muyan stared at his lips, which kept opening and closing. They were a moist red like flower petals, and felt so soft to the touch. He really wanted to taste them…
A drunk person’s actions always move faster than their brain. Before this thought had even fully formed, he was already tasting those two alluring lips.
So soft, so sweet.
He couldn’t tell how much time had passed, but as a sliver of clarity returned to him, he looked at the person in his arms who had been left completely defenseless.
Song Li had turned so red he looked almost like a cooked shrimp. His eyes were damp with moisture, his slightly parted lips were swollen from being tormented, and the hands gripping He Muyan’s collar were limp and devoid of strength.
“Lili.”
Song Li’s body suddenly shuddered. His eyelashes fluttered wildly as he hid in He Muyan’s embrace, both angry and ashamed.
“Don’t keep calling me that.”
He Muyan let out a delighted laugh, his large hand running through and messing up Song Li’s hair.
Perhaps the alcohol was truly starting to take effect. After messing around like this for a bit, He Muyan actually quieted down. Just like that, he slowly fell asleep while keeping his arms wrapped around Song Li.
The two of them slept for half the day. In his dream, Song Li seemed to hear the sound of voices speaking outside. He opened his eyes fuzzily and subconsciously reached out to find his phone to check the time, only to bump into a solid wall of flesh.
He was stunned for a moment and lifted his head to meet a pair of calm, ink-dark eyes.
He Muyan had woken up earlier than him and was just looking down at him like this, though there was no telling how long he had been watching.
Song Li blinked, his face feeling a little hot, “How long have we been asleep?”
He Muyan’s voice was slightly hoarse, “Not long.”
Song Li felt incredibly bashful. He really didn’t want to maintain such an ambiguous and intimate posture with him now that they were awake, so he pushed him away and sat up.
Only after getting up did he realize the sky outside had actually darkened. They had slept for far too long. In a panic, he hurriedly got off the bed to put on his shoes.
He Muyan sat up as well, reaching up to brush his hair back, “Your mom came to knock on the door and call us just now.”
Song Li let out an “Ah?” and turned back to look at him, “Then why didn’t you wake me up?”
He Muyan tilted his head slightly, “You were tense the entire night and didn’t sleep well, so I wanted to let you rest a little longer.”
Looking at his face, Song Li clenched his fists and turned around abruptly.
Help me. Talking was one thing, but why did he have to tilt his head while saying it? It was too cute. He had almost been unable to resist the urge to lung forward and plant a kiss on him just now.
“I-I’ll go out first. You should get up quickly too. My mom has probably finished making dinner.”
After saying this, he flusteredly opened the door and walked out.
Shutting the door firmly behind him, he leaned his back against the door panel and let out a long exhale.
“Is that Xiao Li who came out? Come over quickly and help me carry the soup.”
Mother Song’s voice drifted over from the kitchen.
Song Li patted his own cheeks, gave a response, and ran over.
Mother Song was bustling around the kitchen in her apron. Song Li helped her carry the soup out before heading back in to find other chores to do. After turning off the gas stove, Mother Song turned around, looked him up and down, and smiled. “Has my son-in-law still not woken up yet?”
It took Song Li a moment to realize who she meant by “son-in-law,” leaving him both amused and helpless, “He’s awake. He drank quite a bit today, and he still looked a little dazed just now.”
Mother Song let out an “Oh”, “It’s only natural for newlyweds to be close, but you shouldn’t be so attached to him either. He was the one who drank, not you. Broad daylight, and the two of you stayed shut up in your room for half the day without coming out, what would people think? They’ll laugh at you.”
Song Li was stunned, his face turning red instantly, “Mom, we didn’t do anything. It’s just that he drank too much and felt unwell, so I let him lie down in my room for a bit, that’s all.”
“Stop, stop, hold it right there.” Mother Song waved her hand to interrupt him, “As an elder, it’s not appropriate for me to listen to the details, so don’t explain either. There’s just one thing Mom needs to make clear to you first. Our house is small and the walls are thin, some sounds can’t be contained even with the door shut. Pay a little attention tonight.”
These words were getting more and more explicit. Song Li felt both incredibly bashful and amused, utterly at a loss for how to respond.
After a simple dinner, Mother Song went out to do square dancing. Father Song’s craving for chess kicked in again, and he dragged He Muyan over to play another two rounds with him. Song Li watched for a bit, but he had never had any interest in chess. After watching from the side for a while, he started to feel sleepy, so he simply went back to his room to watch a movie on his tablet.
He found a new movie that had been released a while ago. He had wanted to watch this film for the longest time, but he had been too busy before to go to the theater. In the end, he hadn’t managed to see it before it left the cinemas.
As he watched, he became completely immersed in the story, his eyes turning red as he was deeply moved by the twisted romance of the film’s male and female protagonists. It wasn’t until the movie ended and the closing credits song began to play that he slowly snapped out of it. He reached out to the side for a tissue, but accidentally touched a large hand instead.
Startled, he hurriedly looked up to find He Muyan sitting beside him, pulling out a tissue to wipe away his tears.
Song Li sniffled, feeling a little embarrassed, “When… when did you come in?”
After wiping the tears, He Muyan used his fingers to gently brush the reddened corners of his eyes, “I’ve been in here for a while. Seeing how engrossed you were, I didn’t want to call out to you.”
Song Li let out an “Oh,” turned off the tablet, and set it aside.
“Do you like watching movies?”
Song Li nodded, “I like it quite a bit. I didn’t have time to see this one when it was in theaters, so I’m just catching up now.”
He Muyan recalled the final clip he had just caught a glimpse of, “It was a romance movie.”
Song Li’s face grew hot, “I like watching other genres too, not just romance.”
He Muyan nodded, “Next time there’s a new movie you want to see, you can tell me. I’ll accompany you.”
Song Li was stunned as he lifted his eyes to look at his expression, “Maybe we shouldn’t, you’re so busy with work.”
He Muyan looked down at him, his expression calm and composed, “I’ve said it before; for certain things, you are more important.”
