AMBTICBPIB Chapter 89

The End of the Main Story - We're Taking Little Dad Home...

The weather was clear and mild, neither too hot nor too cold, with a gentle breeze that carried the fresh scent of grass and flowers.

Shen Jin and Chu Yi were playing ball with Shen Liyuan on the lawn. The yard echoed with laughter from adults and children, so loud it spilled into the house.

Chu Yi’s stamina couldn’t keep up with either Shen Liyuan or Shen Jin.

In less than half an hour, he was already panting heavily. “I can’t kick anymore,” he gasped. “You two keep playing.”

Chu Yi plopped down on the grass, watching Shen Jin and Shen Liyuan. He genuinely wondered if the father and son ever got tired.

Far from tiring, the pair seemed to run even harder. Despite his small size, Shen Liyuan moved with astonishing speed, with only Shen Jin able to keep up.

For once, Shen Jin wasn’t dressed in his usual suit and tie but in casual clothes. Running across the lawn, he looked remarkably youthful, almost like a college student from behind.

This side of Shen Jin felt different from his usual demeanor, yet undeniably handsome.

Chu Yi sat under a sun umbrella, a chilled drink in hand, watching Shen Jin and Shen Liyuan play.

The icy beverage instantly banished the summer heat. He gulped down half the bottle in one go, ready to finish the rest in a single swig.

Shen Jin glanced at him. “Don’t drink anything that cold.”

Chu Yi paused, impressed. *How can Shen Jin multitask so well? He’s playing with his son and still notices me.*

Still, he obediently set the drink aside. He knew better than to indulge in cold drinks; too much would upset his stomach.

Instead, Chu Yi switched to snacking while watching Shen Jin and his son.

After finishing two bags of snacks and seeing they’d been playing long enough, he called Shen Jin and Shen Liyuan over for a break.

Shen Jin wiped Shen Liyuan’s sweat with a handkerchief. After all that running, both father and son were drenched.

Shen Liyuan tilted his little face up to let Big Daddy wipe his sweat, while Chu Yi fanned them both with a hand fan. A gentle breeze swept over them, leaving them refreshed.

Shen Jin helped Shen Liyuan wash his hands. The boy then nestled against Big Daddy, clutching his bottle of children’s juice. Drinks always tasted extra delicious after exercise.

This kind of leisurely, heartwarming scene was commonplace in the Shen Family, playing out every day.

After running around the yard all morning, Chu Yi and Shen Liyuan were both hungry.

Butler Wen had already prepared lunch.

Shen Jin, acting like the head of the family, took care of the two children. He picked out boneless fish for Little Lucky Star, who loved it, and peeled shrimp for Chu Yi.

“Daddy, I can eat by myself!” Little Lucky Star declared.

Grandpa Wen’s cooking was so delicious that Shen Liyuan ate every spoonful with gusto.

Shen Jin continued to care for the children, simultaneously offering peeled shrimp to both Chu Yi and Shen Liyuan.

Chu Yi used the serving spoon to scoop a spoonful of minced pork tofu for Shen Liyuan. “Try this! Grandpa Wen made it extra flavorful.”

“Everything Grandpa makes is so yummy!” Shen Liyuan replied.

When it came to eating, Shen Liyuan and Chu Yi were remarkably similar. Neither needed prompting; they would both eat their fill on their own, and their focused expressions as they ate were nearly identical.

Watching them eat always filled Uncle Wen with double the happiness and a sense of accomplishment.

When they looked up, both the adult and the child had oily smudges on their lips.

“You have something on your mouth,” Chu Yi pointed out.

“Daddy, you have something on your mouth too,” Shen Liyuan countered.

Shen Jin wiped Shen Liyuan’s mouth first, then Chu Yi’s.

“Thank you, Daddy.”

“Thank you, Husband.”

Chu Yi stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing out at the courtyard. Initially, the courtyard had been nothing but a plain lawn, utterly monotonous. Now, it had transformed into a beautiful garden.

Shen Jin ruffled Chu Yi’s hair. “What are you thinking about?”

Chu Yi looked at him. “Nothing much. Just remembering something from a long time ago.”

He was thinking about his first time coming here.

Back then, Chu Yi had stood alone at the gate, clutching a suitcase, his eyes filled with insecurity. Facing an unknown environment and an uncertain future, he had been genuinely afraid, yet he hadn’t retreated. All he had wanted then was to successfully finish university.

The Chu Yi of that time could never have imagined how happy he would be now, with Shen Jin and Shen Liyuan by his side. It all felt like a dream.

Noticing Shen Jin’s gaze still fixed on his face, Chu Yi smiled. “I just suddenly remembered my first time coming here.”

These words stirred a pang of tenderness in Shen Jin’s heart.

Lost in thought, Shen Jin suddenly reached out to Chu Yi.

Chu Yi looked at him, puzzled. “What’s this for?”

Shen Jin smiled without answering, his hand remaining outstretched. Chu Yi placed his hand in Shen Jin’s palm, which immediately closed around it.

Shen Jin naturally hadn’t forgotten their son, holding his other hand.

The family of three walked to the front gate. Shen Liyuan asked curiously, “Daddy, what are we going to do?”

Shen Jin crouched down to explain to his son, “Let’s take Little Dad home now, okay?”

Little Shen Liyuan didn’t quite understand what Big Daddy meant. Weren’t they already home? Why did they need to take Little Dad home? Still, he happily agreed, “Okay!”

Chu Yi suddenly realized what Shen Jin was planning. His eyes welled up, turning red-rimmed, as a bittersweet emotion spread through his chest.

Before the feeling could fully bloom, Chu Yi exclaimed in surprise, “What are you doing?”

Shen Jin had scooped him up with one arm, while still holding Shen Liyuan’s hand with the other.

“Wife, let’s go home,” Shen Jin said.

Step by step, Shen Liyuan and Shen Jin crossed the courtyard. Shen Jin, with his long legs, took small, deliberate steps, while Shen Liyuan nimbly kept pace with his Big Daddy. Sunlight bathed the three of them.

Ahead wasn’t just a luxurious villa; it was their warm, loving home.
