AMBTICBPIB Chapter 84

This is the office, don't get any ideas...

As Shen Jin approached their office door, his gaze lingered on Chu Yi for a moment, their eyes locking in the air for a few seconds.

If Chu Yi hadn’t glared at him, Shen Jin’s gaze might have lingered even longer.

Fortunately, apart from Chen Ye, no one noticed. Everyone else assumed President Shen was simply scanning the room.

Seeing his little one put Shen Jin in a good mood, which was evident in the way the corners of his lips curled upward.

The department manager introduced Shen Jin to the team and their supervisor, Manager Meng.

Shen Jin glanced at Manager Meng.

After Shen Jin passed by, Chu Yi overheard the excited whispers of the young women nearby.

“That must be our President Shen! He’s so handsome! So tall, and his presence is so commanding!”

“The assistant beside him is pretty handsome too.”

“I wonder why President Shen is visiting our company?”

“Could there be some major changes coming from the top?”

“Who cares? As long as it doesn’t affect us, the higher-ups can do whatever they want.”

Chu Yi was now filled with questions. When he saw Shen Jin, he immediately understood that this company was still under the Shen Clan’s umbrella. But what was Shen Jin doing here?

He soon found out Shen Jin’s purpose.

Sister Wang, with her remarkable connections, learned from other departments within half an hour that President Shen would be working here for the foreseeable future.

Chu Yi: ……

Chu Yi pursed his lips. Shen Jin had kept this secret from him so well, even lying that the company wasn’t affiliated with the Shen Clan. *Hmph, I’ll settle the score with him properly when we get home.* He even suspected that his job offer was due to Shen Jin’s secret influence.

Just as Chu Yi entered the restroom, he saw someone else enter through the mirror.

The man glanced around to confirm they were alone, then locked the restroom door and approached Chu Yi.

Chu Yi stared at him. “Why did you lock the door? What if someone needs to come in?” How would they explain being in the restroom together with Shen Jin, with the door locked?

Shen Jin reassured him, “Don’t worry, Chen Ye is outside.”

With Chen Ye guarding the door, Chu Yi felt relieved.

Chu Yi finally remembered to settle accounts with him. “Liar! You told me this company had nothing to do with you. If it’s unrelated, why are you here? Liar!”

Shen Jin, who had no intention of hiding the truth, chuckled. “I just wanted to be with you. Who told you not to join the group?”

Chu Yi glared at him.

Shen Jin smiled. “Actually, there’s a reason.”

After Shen Jin’s brief explanation, Chu Yi roughly understood.

Chen Ye had been by Shen Jin’s side for many years, experiencing countless events and witnessing numerous situations. With his exceptional work capabilities, Shen Jin decided to promote Chen Ye and entrust him with managing this company.

Chen Ye had just taken over, and Shen Jin was here to support him.

Chu Yi: “But I heard you’re planning to stay here for a while.”

Shen Jin replied casually, “Mm, Chen Ye is new to the role and will inevitably have questions. I can guide him.”

Chu Yi found this explanation perfectly reasonable and nodded. “I see.”

Chu Yin asked, “My getting hired…”

Before he could finish, Shen Jin understood his question. “Has absolutely nothing to do with me.”

Having promised Chu Yi not to secretly help him, Shen Jin was determined to keep his word. Moreover, he had complete confidence that his little one would succeed on his own merits.

Relieved to know that his job offer had nothing to do with Shen Jin, Chu Yi felt at ease.

Thinking about working at the same company as Shen Jin, Chu Yi said, “I need to set some conditions.”

Shen Jin raised an eyebrow. “What are they?”

Chu Yi pondered for a moment. “At the company, we have to act like we don’t know each other. You can’t talk to me, visit me, or take care of me.”

Now that he was working at the same company as Chu Yi and could see him anytime, Shen Jin was willing to agree to anything.

“Alright, I’ll do as you say. Anything else?”

Chu Yi thought again. “You can’t suddenly corner me in the bathroom like you just did.”

Shen Jin chuckled softly. “Alright, Chu Yi. Weren’t you going to use the restroom?”

Chu Yi finally remembered and stepped into a stall.

Shen Jin misunderstood, blocking the door to prevent Chu Yi from closing it. He gazed at him with a teasing look. “Honey, are you still shy around me? What haven’t I seen already?”

For some reason, Chu Yi’s ears flushed crimson at those words.

“I’m just used to using the stalls,” Chu Yi mumbled.

Taking advantage of Shen Jin’s momentary surprise, Chu Yi slammed the door shut.

Outside the stall, Shen Jin suddenly burst into laughter, thinking about something. *How could my little one be this adorable?*

As Chu Yi washed his hands, he said, “I’ll go out first. Wait a few minutes before you come out.”

Shen Jin naturally agreed, “Okay.”

By the time Chu Yi finished washing his hands, Shen Jin was already there with a paper towel to dry them.

Shen Jin dried his hands meticulously, making sure to get every finger.

After drying off the water droplets, Shen Jin slid his fingers between Chu Yi’s, one by one, until their hands were tightly intertwined.

Chu Yi’s voice was soft, “This is the office. Don’t get carried away.”

Shen Jin gently pulled him closer, a smile in his eyes. “Wife, I just wanted to hold you. What were you thinking?”

Chu Yi blinked, even his eyelashes betraying his disbelief.

Shen Jin chuckled softly. “Alright, fine. Actually, there’s one more thing I wanted to do.”

He lowered his head and kissed Chu Yi.

The bathroom door opened, and Chu Yi peeked out. In the distance, only Chen Ye was visible. Chen Ye nodded slightly when he saw Chu Yi, who darted out of the bathroom and slipped back to the office.

Back at his desk, Sister Wang looked at him curiously. “Chu Yi, did you run back? Why is your face so red?”

Less than a minute after Chu Yi returned to his desk, Wang Xin also came back to the office. He glanced at Chu Yi.

Chu Yi sat at his desk, his heart still racing. He thought to himself, *I must stay far away from Shen Jin during work hours.*

As he was thinking this, he received a WeChat message from Shen Jin at lunchtime, asking him to come to his office.

**Chu Yi:** I won’t.*

**Shen Jin:** It’s important.

*Important.* The moment Chu Yi saw that word, he immediately got up and headed out.

He glanced around. It was lunchtime, and no one seemed to notice him. *They probably wouldn’t pay attention to an intern anyway,* he thought.

Still, to avoid any unnecessary trouble, Chu Yi quietly slipped into Shen Jin’s office.

At the door, he saw Chen Ye exiting. Chen Ye told him President Shen was waiting inside.

Watching Chu Yi dart into Shen Jin’s office like a flash, Chen Ye couldn’t help but smile. *Chu Yi is just too adorable,* he thought. *He and Shen Jin are a perfect match—the most perfect match.*

The office here was much simpler compared to the group headquarters.

Upon entering, Chu Yi saw Shen Jin sitting leisurely on the sofa, waiting for him.

“What’s so important?” Chu Yi asked. “Are you feeling unwell? Should we go to the hospital right now?”

Shen Jin pulled him down to sit beside him. “I’m fine. I just wanted you to join me for lunch.”

Chu Yi blinked, finally noticing the dishes laid out before them. The aroma alone told him it was Uncle Wen’s cooking.

After a moment’s thought, Chu Yi asked, “You called this ‘important’? Just lunch? How is that important?”

Shen Jin’s words warmed Chu Yi’s heart: “Everything you do is important to me.”

As they ate lunch together, Shen Jin occasionally put food on Chu Yi’s plate. “Eat more. You’ve gotten thinner from working.”

“You’re exaggerating,” Chu Yi replied. “It’s only my second day of the internship.”

The food, freshly warmed in the microwave, was steaming hot and far tastier than the cafeteria fare. Chu Yi and Shen Jin finished nearly every bite.

Shen Jin poured a bowl of soup from a thermos and placed it in front of Chu Yi. “There’s also Gastrodia elata fish head soup. Uncle Wen made it especially for you.”

Fish heads typically have a strong fishy taste, but after Uncle Wen’s meticulous and elaborate cleaning process, every trace of fishiness was gone. The resulting Gastrodia elata fish head soup had a tea-like color and an incredibly delicious flavor.

Chu Yi patted his full stomach after the meal, feeling completely satisfied.

After lunch, Chu Yi prepared to return to his office for a rest.

Shen Jin asked him, “How do you usually rest at noon?”

“I just nap at my desk,” Chu Yi replied.

While the others in the office had purchased chairs that could recline into beds, Chu Yi and Wang Xin, being newcomers, had only standard chairs. During lunch breaks, they would simply rest their heads on their desks for a short nap.

Shen Jin frowned. “From now on, come rest here after lunch.”

Chu Yi was about to object when Shen Jin added, “If you don’t agree, I’ll just come visit you in your department.”

Fine, Chu Yi relented. He knew Shen Jin was perfectly capable of carrying out his threat.

The office sofa was large and wide, and Chu Yi lay stretched out on it, covered with Shen Jin’s coat.

After Chu Yi fell asleep, Shen Jin quietly watched him. Even in his sleep, his little one looked so beautiful. This scene reminded him of the time when Chu Yi insisted on attending classes while pregnant.

Back then, Shen Jin had brought Chu Yi to his office every day.

Before Shen Jin could admire him for even a few minutes, Chu Yi rolled over, turning his back to Shen Jin and causing the coat to slip off and fall to the floor. Shen Jin picked it up and draped it back over Chu Yi.

The sofa couldn’t compare to a spacious bed. Every time Chu Yi shifted, the coat would fall off. Shen Jin had to cover him several times.

*I should buy a blanket right away,* Shen Jin thought.

Ten minutes before work resumed, Shen Jin gently woke him.

Chu Yi sat up, stretching luxuriously. Lying on the sofa was far more comfortable than napping at his desk. He had enjoyed a restful, uninterrupted afternoon nap.

Chu Yi quietly slipped out of Shen Jin’s office again.

Back at his workstation, Wang Xin approached him for a casual chat. “Didn’t see you at lunch. Did you go out?”

Chu Yi scratched his head. “Ah, yeah, I went out to eat with a friend. Just got back.”

Wang Xin smiled. “No problem. I just didn’t see you at lunch and was worried you might be hungry. I wanted to let you know I have snacks here if you need them. Don’t go hungry.”

Chu Yi: “Thanks.”

Wang Xin: “Don’t mention it. We’re from the same school, so helping each other is only natural.”
