RLDRFH Extra pt. 3

T/N: This is the last release for RLDRFH. Thank you for accompanying me, HZZ, and FH on this almost year-long journey.

I’m grateful to all of you, my readers and supporters, particularly Jessie, for the kudos (back on SH), ko-fis, and comments. Couldn’t have done it without your support! 🤗

-komorebi

P.S. If you’re looking for more of my projects, check out: BATCFO, TWE, ABV, or find the rest of them listed on my ko-fi page under “About Me”.

“Will the couple come back in time?” Guo Bing held the last cigarette in his mouth, stepped on the wall in front of him with one leg, and looked out at the empty ruins.

“Who knows? Didn’t they bring gifts when they came back last time?” Chen Ning loosened his collar and said indifferently.

“Hey… who made this a mass wedding?”

Yes, a mass wedding.

Since Yan Xin announced he was getting married, and the object of his marriage is a certain man with flashy glasses… Well, Yin Dong has a lot of nicknames, who made him offend so many people?

After the shock from the announcement, everyone expressed that they also wanted to get married.

There have been quite a few new couples formed during the past few years, but because everyone has been hovering on the edge of life and death, no one ever thought about getting married or holding a wedding. People these days have become more realistic. When two people are together, they will be together. At most, they will tell their friends. Because of the imbalance between men and women in the post-apocalyptic world, the vast majority of people who are clamoring for weddings this time are male couples.

Among the people Guo Bing is acquainted with, only Chen Ning, this scum, actually caught a woman during the three years and got a girlfriend!!!

This is something that this uncle can’t bear. Although the little girl looks ordinary, she is a kind-hearted girl. During the 3-year defensive battle, she was a member of the logistics team with water abilities. Don’t know how she was hooked up by Chen Ning, this sinner.1Treat this paragraph as Guo Bing’s internal monologue

What makes people feel more wasteful is that another pair wanting to get married were actually two girls… yes, two lilies2re: yuri. If Guo Bing didn’t really know them, he would definitely run over to persuade them not to be so wasteful, and consider heterosexuality for the future of mankind.

As his brain hole was running wild, Chen Ning suddenly patted him. “Look, isn’t that their car?”

A familiar Knight XV drove towards the gate, making everyone who knew them smile. After the two came in, the head of logistics took the lead in pushing aside the crowd and rushing forward. “What did you get this time? The base has some big crystal cores. Come, come in and trade with me…”

He Zizhong was taken away by the head of logistics who still had some serious psychological trauma, and Fang Hao greeted Zhang Xiaoming and the others with a smile. “This mass wedding, we will stay for a while before going out.”

The fog in the space gradually thickened. After they woke up before, they discovered Tuanzi, this good buddy, achieved good results, causing the space to progress fairly quickly. Using Tuanzi, who can travel at the speed of an airplane now, they went to hunt some hidden away zombies to dig out crystal nuclei. After the fog concentration in the space reached a certain degree, they returned to the base.

When the space went from level 4 to 5, it took more than 20 days. This time, it took a whole month to reach level 6.

The collective wedding at the base was completely prepared. Because more and more people wanted to join in, many people took this as an opportunity to find a passable partner to spend the second half of their lives with.

The mass wedding was huge and lively.

At this wedding, everyone saw a lot of familiar faces. For example, Yan Xin saw a familiar face in the crowd. It was Song Xianghong’s wife, the woman he used to call ‘aunt’. Even in her 50’s, she still had her own charm. Rumor was, after the Song family father and daughter vanished, she first lived alone in the villa, but after being unable to support herself, she finally found a man to live with, after changing several boyfriends, the youngest which was 16 or 17.

As for Song Xianghong and Song Qiaoqiao… the two of them have completely disappeared from the base.

Fang Hao and He Zizhong didn’t join in the fun. The two of them had no interest in this so-called ceremony or wedding. As long as they have the ring they put on each other’s hands, as long as the two of them are still together, their home is complete… of course, with the addition of Tuanzi.

On the contrary, all married couples were given a marriage certificate during the wedding. Obtaining it marriage certificate was much simpler than before the end of the world. Just sign a paper, take a photo, and stamp it with the official seal. The two took the opportunity to queue up to receive one as it was reasonable, legal proof of them being together.

Someone took out firecrackers from somewhere, and the long-lost sound of crackling sounded in the base. Wine, which was stored in some people’s space, was taken out, diluted with water, and shared amongst people. The lively wedding became a carnival…

—–

Deep in the urban area of A city, there are a large number of zombies entrenched in the maze-like underground subway. The passage used for convenient transportation in the past was now occupied by these creatures who were afraid of the sun. They hide in the dark and sneak out at night, relying on information carried through the wind to hunt.

Some low-level zombies have gradually decayed and withered away because they haven’t eaten for a long time. The crystal cores in their heads were eaten by their same kind to maintain their lives, and even improve their strength.

A small figure sat in an empty hall, where the passageway above has collapsed. There is only a small passage to go up. These days, the one with the best physique is this little zombie. All zombies in the hall obey its commands and belong to it.

Each time it opens its mouth, an angry noise reverberates in the passageways. Since its birth, it has never encountered such a predicament – being stuck in the empty ruins, unable to go out, and unable to recklessly hunt for food.

The nasty thing in the sky will melt its body.

It is the king of zombies. It has the absolute right to make all zombies obey. Its birth is different from all zombies. It was born in the womb of the mother of zombies, from the combination of sperm and eggs collected from a human woman by those people. The eggs were implanted in the abdomen of a female zombie and nurtured. Those people were probably trying for a different outcome, and accidentally created the zombie king.

But although it has the absolute right to order all zombies and is extremely fast and powerful, it is very fragile. It’s still a baby, so before it grows up, it needs the protection of other zombies.

At this time, the hall is densely surrounded by zombies of various colors as if standing guard. They are all protecting their king from any harm. Because of the king’s command, they found a new way of survival in this sun-lit world. They successfully attacked human villages several times in the dark, and hunted down some human beings who dared wander nearby. They are loyal to the king and will protect it closely – only it can let them live in this world and live for a long time!

Kara, kara… The sound of rolling gravel echoed, the noise magnifying through the empty space.

The little zombie turned its head and looked at the entranceway.

Suddenly! Vines shot into the sky, sprouting from all directions! Rushing towards the densely packed middle!

No matter how fast one is, no one can avoid this endless net. No matter how sharp one’s teeth is, they can’t bite off these damn unending vines! Several twigs slammed into the small body, causing the small zombie to scream piercingly.

Above and below, all the zombies shook, and started to dig holes randomly and frantically to open up a passage over. But when they finally opened the passage, they were stunned to find that the hall was empty, and there was nothing left…

And that’s a wrap folks! Thanks for reading and accompanying me, HZZ, FH, and Tuanzi on this long journey!

  1. Ayame85 says:

Thank you for translating this story! Sad to see it end..

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. It’s sad to see it come to end as well. 😢
But a good kind of farewell.

  2. Momo says:

Ah, I’m sad to know this had to end but gotta say is a pretty satisfying ending? I mean, I read other 2 I think with a similar idea and both ended with a cut that almost made no sense.

Thanks for your hard work, translator!

    And well done, author.

    1. komorebi says:

It’s a happy ending at the least for our main couple. They get the freedom they wanted (to enter the space, etc.) but also have friends and a base run by idiots. It also pays homage to plants vs. zombies.

  3. Anaid919 says:

Thank you for translating … sad that no more FH and HZZ but happy it ended well for them❤️

  4. De Vile says:

Waaaaaahhhhh Good job komorebi!!!!! Congratulations on finishing~~

  5. Fisukisuki says:

Mass Wedding and the Zombie Baby King is ended by the Mutated Vines… Lovely Ending~ 😊😂👍

    I Love it!!!
Never expect the Magical Space secret would actually NEVER get Revealed to ANYONE!!! Amazing!!! The author definitely can keep it secret till the end… Awesome!!! The consistention is Amazing!!! Then again, the author’s other Zombie novel is that consistent. Good author!

THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR COMPLETING THIS AMAZING NOVEL’S TRANSLATION!!! 🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇🙇 FOREVER ETERNALLY GRATEFUL

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. Thank you for reading!!!
It is nice the space is never revealed. Our MCs get their own vacation home basically. 🥰

  6. Tatiana Galvis says:

    ahh!! Good ending!! 💕💕💕🎉🥁
thank you very much for this really🙏🏻☺️👍🏻
time passed very quickly, I love everything💞; thanks for the translation😘

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. Thanks for reading!! 🤗

  7. Vin says:

Thanks for translating it till finish.
Was not prepared for that ending.
Could we hope that final mutant plant was the one traumatized by our Tianzi?

    1. komorebi says:

It very well might be that plant. 🤣

      1. Micky says:

I do agree with that. it has to it. it just has to.

    2. Rhai says:

Faz sentido que seja. Já que ela era enorme e estava traumatizada em ir para a superfície, o metrô é provavelmente um lugar que ela apareceria.

  8. Elle says:

Ahhh??? what happen?? thats it? wuwuuwuwu 😭😭

  9. Elle says:

Ahhh??? what happen?? thats it? wuwuuwuwu 😭😭
But anyways Thank you 😊 ☺

    1. komorebi says:

      Yeah… it’s over. 😭😭
Thank you for reading and supporting!

  10. NotYourBae says:

Thank you so so much for translating. Gonna miss HZZ and FH a lot, they grew on me. Also gonna miss your commentary after each chapter 🙁

    1. komorebi says:

HZZ and FH definitely grew on me too!

That’s sweet of you. I have other ongoing projects you can, and I’ll shamelessly add should, check out (e.g., After marrying the wealthy disabled tyrant, Bursting after he transmigrated into the cannon fodder omega). You can find them in the “About Me” of my ko-fi page or occasionally referenced in T/Ns for RLDRFH and other projects. 🤗

      1. NotYourBae says:

Oh I did already(coz I wanted to read more of your translations) but realised I can’t read them now. After marrying the wealthy disabled tyrant has way less chapters now and its story line seems interesting so I’ll wait for it to reach atleast half of the original and Bursting after he transmigrated into the cannon fodder omega is nearing its end(12 chapters left right)? So I’ll also wait for it to complete.
        Commented a lot lol.

  11. Zombiiecat says:

What did happen to the Song Father and daughter? I think I read too fast and just happened to skip over something that happened to them? Or was there a paragraph that insinuated something?

Anyways! Thank you for translating this lovely story! I’m never a fan of Seme Protagonist but I really enjoyed this one! Now I need to find other complete stories to binge read now. Haha.

    1. komorebi says:

After they picked up that batch of equipment, they ‘vanished’. Rumor/signs point to them being ambushed by others and killed/materials taken away.

  12. Lady namika says:

Help!!! Who is zhang xiaoming partner??!! Who?? Who?? I thought its chen ning. Why author not disclosure this. Had waiting since we know he had someone. If you guys remember (when tian lei had crush Arc). No!!!! This is major cliffhangers!!!!!
Or its just my misunderstanding. That zhang xiaoming does had anyone?????

    1. komorebi says:

He has someone, but I don’t recall it ever being disclosed.
Who would have guessed that’s the real mystery in the plot!!!

      1. Sos13 says:

Is it still not disclosed? Maybe the Author has left a comment somewhere?

    2. Xaviera says:

That’s also the biggest bummer for me lol. I thought finally it would be disclosed during the mass wedding but then nothing! Wth, author left us a mystery. I also thought it was Chen Ning but then he ended up with a woman so then who is Xiamong’s partner??? The biggest mystery in the whole story indeed.

  13. marmar says:

waah thank you for translating!!! i binged read this in 3 days lmaoo so fun too read!! wish we can see the mass wedding more, wanna see yin dong reaction lmaoo

    1. komorebi says:

That’s quite a binge alright! Glad you enjoyed the ride. 🙂

  14. Crux99 says:

Thank you so much for the translation! Im pleasantly surprised tht the a lot of readers are reading this in 2022 (most novel that i read has comments from longer,,lol). Sry for being weird, just feeling sentimental.

What a good read, thanks again for translating, komorebi!! ❤❤❤❤

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. Thanks for reading and dropping a note.

Welll… I did finish translating this in less than a year, so that might be why. Maybe in a couple of years you’ll see comments from 2022 and think that’s so long ago! 😹

  15. Cy says:

Hi! Have been a silent reader since I have started reading this novel (Since it was finished already and really had the intention to binge read this for a few days). Now that I have finished it, I’m actually a bit unwilling to see it end QAQ Just wanted to say thank you for giving us the opportunity to read such a satisfying bl apocalypse novel. Thank you so much Komorebi! As this is my first time reading one of your works, please expect me to read your other works as well heehee~

    1. Cy says:

Btw, how can I find your other translated novels? Can I please get a link at least 🥺

      1. komorebi says:

        Hey Cy,

Thanks for leaving the note. I’m glad you enjoyed it, and want more. I felt the same way, and had to binge some other fluff/farming novels to overcome the bittersweet pangs.

You can find all my projects listed on my ko-fi page. See the “About” on the lefthand side, with links to them. Alternatively, here they are:

  16. skysong says:

Thank you for the translation, also for the kofi supporters! Good read, I never guess the ending would be like this. I certainly would me the old man tuanzi and the cutest fang hao.

  17. Somenonameshit says:

Wahhhhhh! Thank you so much for this komo 💗! I love your translations so much and I appreciate all your effort 🤗, and also, because of you, I get to read this story without stressing myself to understand the mtl version. This is such a good read ☺.

Also, kudos to the author for creating a story like this🥰.

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. Thank you for reading, supporting, and dropping a comment. Glad you enjoyed the story, and the ride. 🥰

  18. Sl says:

Thank you for translating this wonderful story. I enjoyed reading this novel. Take care.

    1. komorebi says:

      You’re welcome. Thanks for reading!

  19. Cry says:

Holy shit this was so so good. Better than the author’s other zombie apocalypse hoarding novel. Thank you for the great translations.

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you enjoyed the journey, and thank you for reading and dropping a comment!

  20. Rosebud says:

    Congrats on finishing this.

  21. Hancock23 says:

It’s rare for me to read a book without skimming/skipping and this did it for me. I liked that it was consistent from beginning to end and didn’t go on weird tangents. I liked that the author chose not to be melodramatic about relationships whether love, friendship, or enmity. I love the ending that makes you imagine a sequel, but don’t actually want a sequel.
In my opinion, this book is a perfect mixture of romance, friendship, cultivation, comedy, drama, and survival.

Thanks a lot for translating this beautiful work.

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you enjoyed reading this! I feel you with the – lots of what ifs, but also a nice non-melodramatic ending. And the protags being down-to-earth, instead of ruling the world, is nice.

  22. maëvalily says:

Thank you so so so so much for this amazing translation! I really loved the entire journey of this book 😍❤️🥰

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you enjoyed reading, and thanks for dropping a comment! 🥰

  23. Akiva says:

Thank you for translating this novel. I really waited for it to be completed. You guys are the best!

Although I feel sad with the ending, I admit I’m slightly not satisfied but I guess, this is better. I’m happy with the happy ending.

    Once again, thank you!

    1. komorebi says:

Thank you, I’m glad you liked it. The ending could have been rounded out a little better, but it’s still satisfying.

  24. trash_generalist says:

Thanks so much for translating this to the end!!! ☺️💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. Based on your comments, you must’ve binged it? 😉

  25. RakiSerin says:

Thank you for translating this story

    1. komorebi says:

You’re welcome. Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed it!

  26. Angela says:

I just finished binge reading the novel and had a great time, it’s my 1st time reading this apocalypse kind of plot and it was way more enjoyable that I thought! Thank you to komorebi for the excellent translation <3

But I'm surprised no one else caught who Zhang Xiaoming partner is!!! The author must have edited it out, but if you keep an eye on the main Samsara teammates closest to our main couple, the only one not paired is the strong guy Ding Minggang, the one who was the 1st to reach level 3 during their long mission.

I'm 99% sure it's him 'cause he was one of the five "chosen ones" to be rescued into the space, including the Guo Bing-Le Tian couple, and Chen Ning has a gf.

    1. komorebi says:

      Glad you liked it!
It’s the eternal mystery!! DMG is a good guess… for a while, I thought it was Chen Ning, but as you said, he has a gf, so it can’t be him.

  27. Renna Angela Otero says:

I was planning to speedrun reading this, but I didn’t expect it only took me two days 🤧 anyway, love the novel. Kudos to the author and translator. Thank you for you hard work. And I’mma guess the mutant plant that killed the zombie king was one that has a PTSD for Tuanzi 😆

    1. komorebi says:

Looks like you really speed ran this! You’re very welcome, and I’m glad you enjoyed HZZ and FH’s story. 🤗

P.S. if that’s the plant, it means that Tuanzi is the real boss in the world.

  28. Aifa says:

I am very proud to announce this is the best zombie novel I have ever read , I loved it to bits, just sad it ended. Once again thank you for translating this novel it’s been an honor to read. I enjoyed it very much thank you.

    1. komorebi says:

I’m so happy to hear you say that! You’re very welcome!!!

  29. miso says:

    Aiyo, it’s the end 😢

    Thank you for translating! 🤗

  30. TyKerUella says:

I had a really good time reading this. I love this type of novels even if it gets a little repetitive, but there where really interesting things in this one.
Like, Tuanzi. That guy is almost the MC 😂
And the non-revenge plot, just like “i’ll give you just a push and let you fall by yourselves while i’m enjoying my Big Cheat”.
The ending was satisfying, not rushed or irrealistic.
Thanks you really much for your work, i think i’m gonna try your other works too 😊

  31. Erin0997 says:

Thank you for translating this amazing novel.
I had fun reading this. One of the best bl apocalyptic novels I’ve read.
I’m gonna miss HZZ and FH even though I only read this for a few days 😭

    1. komorebi says:

I’m glad you enjoyed the read. Now that’s its complete, you’re always welcome to reread it. 🤗

  32. kas says:

i started reading this last night and i just finished it now. i felt like i spent weeks reading this but no it was only a day. so much has happened and the ending seems so unsatisfying to me couz i want more but sadly nothing last forever😫😫

    1. komorebi says:

That’s a binge alright. Glad you enjoyed their story. 🤗

  33. Stela says:

Well it sure was a satisfying end… specially all the apocalypse ones i read….❤️
    Thanks for the translation ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  34. MJ says:

I would like to believe the plant that killed the Zombie King was the one scared of our couples dumpling.

    1. komorebi says:

Haha, so the resulting food chain becomes:
Humans < Zombies / Mutant animals < Mutant plants < Tuanzi!

  35. ruinthyself says:

aw gonna miss this two sweet couple and more of Tuanzi!!! thank you so much for the wonderful translating of this story ♡

    1. komorebi says:

You’re very welcome. Thank you for reading and for the lovely comments. Hope to see you around the other projects. 😄

  36. Hōzuki says:

We reached the end without even knowing who’s Xiaoming’s partner… I thought its Chen Ning but the dude is straight… Now I’ll bet on Mengzi hahahahaha
A little disappointed by the ending but its still good since I’m pretty sure that-that mutant plant is definitely the plant who’s scared of our Tuanzi haha

    1. komorebi says:

Yeah, Xiaoming’s partner is the real mystery in this book. Not Tuanzi, not the mutant vine, and not the zombies. But Zhang Xiaoming!!! 😹

  37. Queue says:

Thank you for translating. I didn’t know there was another novel by the “Otaku” author so I found this by chance.
Great novel. Great translation. Thanks again.

    1. komorebi says:

Welcome! The author has another apocalypse-like novel as well, which is quite interesting, though the MC/ML in that are a bit too OP… and the ending is quite unexpected.

      1. kisa says:

Which one? Is it a HE?

  38. kisa says:

Thank you for the translation! I read this via MTL before and it’s nice to read again a pick up all the things I missed.

  39. Kohaku says:

I just finished binge-reading. Indeed, it was a satisfying story that I can’t help but wished there are more chapters. T^T Anyway, I won’t have had a good reading experience without your wonderful translation so a big thanks to you komorebi! I’ve read a few mtled chapters of this novel and it really hurt my brain that it went “kaboom.” Good thing I’ve found your translation. (^-^)v Well, that’s all. Good luck with your future translation projects!!! Wishing you the best!

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you liked it enough to binge! 🥰

  40. Son says:

I can’t say I’m satisfied by this ending, but I enjoyed the journey still. Pleased to know that at least the zombie king is dead. Let me not get into the whys and hows the birth of zombies somehow coincided with a devastating climate event that blocked out the sun for years (bc really how impossible is that irl rn lol)

I would have liked to see more about how humanity has and will rebuild, but I guess not. Ntm the space remains a mystery. *sigh* I’m gonna miss our favourite hoarders and their big eater.

Thank you for your translation! Seeing your notes it looks like you worked hard to get translations out one chapter after another. You did a good job! 👍🏾

  41. Alyssa says:

Time the fuck out that really happened that ending. Are you serious? No fucking way! Oh my god!

I loved this story I did but I always wondered how the story was going to end simply because it was a zombie story and those are peculiar in their own right. How do you defeat all of the zombies in the world? You killed them but if zombie plants or mutant plants are in the mix it’s different right? I just didn’t know how it was going to end but never did I think it would end this way.

He Zizhong was a character I loved him and I thought all of his personal growth by the end of the story showed especially when he was willing to put everyone in his space so they would survive simply because he cared about them and grew a bond with them. It showed that revenge didn’t matter and that he could get over his past and build bonds. I was so glad to see that he didn’t lock himself away in the space as he could have but defended the people he grew to like.

As for Fang Hao, he didn’t have the same personal growth simply because he didn’t have past memories as He Zizhong but you could tell that he grew to care about others as well and not just He Zizhong. I think they have grown and should have shared the food from in the space even if they had to out themselves in my opinion.

    1. komorebi says:

They did start sharing food, but more intermittent in the form of dried veggies and some meat. And of course, at the end.
I wish Samsara + them made that backup base they talked about

  42. Chaos3910 says:

Thank you so much for doing a flawless job on translating this story. I can say without a doubt that your T/N and smooth work have made this story so much fun to read. I literally binged this in two days that I even called in sick to work today because I stayed up too late reading. My heart is just sooooo full even if there is sadness about finishing the story. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you enjoyed this so much to binge, but I deny all responsibility for you calling in sick to work!

  43. kuroma says:

I just finished reading this wonderful zombie apocalypse novel and it was amazing 🥰

Though, that sunlight breaking into the world was a bit too much like a plot armor to protect our beloved characters from impending doom… Though maybe I should think of it as this instead:
The Void Space is actually the “heart” of the world. Zombie apocalypse happened because the world was “sick/infected” hence the strong gloomy mist covering the skies. And thus affected the living creatures, forming zombies, mutant creatures and ability holding humans. Everytime the void levels up, doesn’t the space stretch and became a small island? Then two islands by the final battle… So maybe the increase in void level equals the recovery of the world? Hence that final battle, the mist was broken though and zombies were debuffed? 🤔

Your translations are very nice, Komorebi. Thank you for all the effort you’ve put into this.

    1. komorebi says:

Thank you for the compliment. 🧡
That’s an interesting description of the world and what happened. I do like how the author bound the edges of the space so it’s infinite like some spaces.

???? in the end i have many criticisms than praise for this novel. i was really hoping for a more rounded out story but i shouldn’t be expecting anything from the start i guess…

nonetheless, thank you for your translation!!! i’ve silently read a few other novels you have translated as well and have always felt your work is reliable and excellent. thank you for all that you do!

  47. Violet Evergarden 31 says:

Hey, I was reading one Japanese cooking novel (just for the ending, somewhat mid-tier) and I came across your works. BATCFO was the 1st one and it was so good for me that I read your other translated works everyday and only 1 is left. This is my 2nd apocalypse novel being bl, the other was ‘Global Examination’ which was more of a survival setting (not zombies, just the competitive factor as in Squid Game) and a somewhat harem apocalypse novel called ‘World’s Apocalypse Online’. It’s my 1st time seeing the MCs choosing a supportive role rather than being on the forefront, though the ending was quite abrupt. I can guess that the mutated plant became a subordinate of Tuanzi (little dumpling) and wiped out both the zombie baby King & its lackeys.

Also, about this whole apocalypse; just a theory : That secret underground prisoner base, while researching might had secretly discovered something (rock/meteorite/asteroid/strange living matter) either through medical research or space and injected it into different individuals (from children to old people) and also included pregnant women. Definitely many died and were considered a failed experiment as that matter spread in gaseous form the most, corrupting them into zombies and quickly spread across the world, creating a conducive environment. While many turned into zombies, the pregnant zombie lady was one with a living consciousness and so formed that circle-like barrier, meant to prevent human food from escaping by giving a false sense of security. The dosage must have been strong, thus even after the sun came out, the baby didn’t disappear completely. I believe they either have already explored that place or didn’t find anything new (or forgot?)

As for the ‘space’ ability, nice to see them keeping until the end. Not all people can be trusted, but glad that it’s their exclusive space. Hm… maybe the ability lvlled up and that Island recovered that the Sun was visible in the sky?? It could be connected to real world (just diff. dimension)

Also, wanted to say Zuanzi is a cute momo. The funny part I remembered was that when HZZ & FH held each other’s hands in front and Tuanzi was formed ( a joke that the shou could get pregnant after holding hands). I wanted to see how they deal with the aftermath. Even a wedding anniversary and despite the MC seme being closed off during the apocalypse could still decide to risk his ability & the uke MC suffering from his childhood and had eyes only for his love, could also have thoughts about trustworthy friends. I think for now lvl 6 would be the max lvl when the zombies vanish.

I so enjoyed reading this novel and felt that even 200 chps. weren’t enough. Thank you Translator Komorebi for your hardwork and making it such an enjoyable work with your comments.😊 I sometimes wish to forget my favourite stories just so that I can read them all over again!😭😭

    1. komorebi says:

You’re welcome. Thank you for the kind (and long) note. Glad you enjoyed reading it. RLDRFH is one of those novels that feels short in the first half, drags a little, and then ends abruptly. At least the extras make up for some of it.

  48. Rain says:

Thank you for the translations. Enjoyed the story while it lasts. Lol, I wonder which mutated plant it is that swallowed the baby king. Probably the traumatized plant. Kekeke

    1. komorebi says:

Probably. That’s the only plant which got notable screentime.

      Glad you enjoyed the read!

  49. Miki says:

Thank you for translating. Discovered this book pretty early on, but wanted to binge so I waited and recently restarted. This was an amazing and fun story to read, and we were able to read it thanks to you translator. So, thank you very much for sharing this story with us and… Belated congratulations on finishing the story.

    1. komorebi says:

I’m glad you enjoyed it. Tempts me to go back and reread this too.

  50. Ageha says:

Thankyou for translate this. Read it for 2nd time 🤣 I realized when they moved into the villa.can’t find something else. Any recomendation?

  51. Catnel says:

Thoroughly enjoyed this story. I wish it went more into their future together, but hey, it’s all good now. The sun is back, the plants took out the zombie king and the zombies, and our couple is forever happy together😊 Thank you for all your work translating.😎❤️

  52. Blank says:

Ahh what a great story. I love the He Zizhong didn’t even need to do anything for the scum to die, they all basically played themselves to death—in fact, in his first life, you could say that the main reason he died was that he was a good man who got entangled with bad people out of a sense of responsibility and caught up in their stupidity. They died sooner because, frankly, he was what was keeping some of them alive in the first place… I’m really happy for Fang Hao too, who had such a depressing life overall that he thought dying in the arms of someone who’d pretty clearly forgotten him was the best ending the first time around, since he finally got to be with the person he remembered knew how to treat people really thoroughly sincerely. It makes a lot of sense of his determination to be with This Guy In Particular, going from “kind of silly and cute” to “a little bit heartbreaking but it follows” and either way he’s living his best life now!! He’s got everything he could want! Who could imagine that kid playing house really grew up to be a husband the same level of devoted! Definitely worth it.
On the plot side of things, I know that the sun coming out feels a bit deus ex machina but I have to say there’s some kind of…karma, something, going on with sunlight (which only the two of them had access to anymore in their space) breaking back into the world the moment they were determined to take others into the space with them if they had to. Especially since their space and its related abilities has a lot of connections to gold imagery, which was specifically emphasized when the sun came out… I don’t know, I feel like there’s something there if you want to read into it, though it would’ve been nice to have it be a bit more explicit somehow. In any case, I do feel it’s particularly appropriate that they weren’t the ones to single-handedly take out the zombie king or anything, either, they really do want to just coast living their best lives and lowkey farming. And it was a plant that did it! I hope it was the one Tuanzi kept scaring, the fact that it definitely took out the corrupt base leaders and only lived long enough to do so because He Zizhong originally backed off from seeing if they could kill such a high level foe is very thematically appropriate. It all comes full circle! Of course it could easily be any other plant, but since Tuanzi makes a habit of taking mutant plants out, I’d bet it was the one that has kept on running from them haha. It was a good ending, feels good, makes me happy, just like the rest of this wonderful story
Thank you so very much for translating! <3

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you liked it and took the time to write such a long comment. Thanks for reading! 🥰

  53. thatonecat says:

I liked the story, but it really feels like the author just got bored and slapped something together. The big space/buddha/tianzi mystery was never touched on again, the big bad was abruptly introduced and then killed abruptly, deus ex machina sun, no description of what their powers can do at level 6+, etc.

It’s like how xianxia novels seem to universally have a crap ending, because the author is burnt out and using 500+ chapters to properly finish their story seems nightmarish so it takes 10 chapters instead. Not saying this novel was bad, but I sincerely don’t think the author was trying to be mysterious and is a great writer- the ‘honeymoon’ phase of easy storywriting was over, so they just stopped.

Same thing with how unsatisfying the endings of all their foes was. They could have been written with a much more fun, face-slapping, bad ending, but every single time the author took the easy way out.

Still, despite all my b****ing throughout comments, it was still entertaining. Thank you so much, komorebi, fornyour hard work. Now I just need to find a way to bribe you to start translating bl infinite flow novels like I Wasn’t Born Lucky (just an example, it’s already fully translated. But I’m only halfway joking about bribing you for tl.)

    1. komorebi says:

Hahaha – I considered infinite flow novels before, but the thing that gets me is the difficulty re-starting translates with each ‘world’. I.e., what’s the nomenclature for this place or name or thing. Have a couple candidates of what to translate next after SMM/WMWG are finished (which timing wise looks to be sometime in the summer if not earlier).

  54. Mndless says:

What an ignoble end for the zombie king. Killed by a mutant plant. So, in the end, the war between plants and zombies was won unilaterally by the plants.

    1. komorebi says:

Hahaha, and then Tuanzi spread the fear of squishiness into the plants! 🪴

  55. missluna says:

This is my second re-read and this novel is as good a I remember 😭💗
Thank you so much for translating this, you’ve worked hard 💗🍫💗
Thank you to the kofi supporters too 💗🍫💗
I will miss this family of three so much 😭

  56. maryngue says:

ahhhh this is such a good novel it’s just a pity that there’s so many things that happened that the author didn’t specifically explained 😩 i will still give this a full rating since i truly enjoyed the novel despite its flaws and for the hardworking translator.

i noticed that i almost read all of the translator’s works except for the titles after becoming the alpha protagonist and bursting. im going to check out those novels now!!

    1. komorebi says:

Glad you enjoyed it. Agreed, there definitely are some loose ends, but I discovered that many of them are answered subtly or brought up inadvertently when I reread it. The ending is still rushed though.

Yay! You can find a list of all my works on my kofi page, under “About”. (Gotta click see more.) Happy reading!

  57. Amethist says:

Thanks for the hard work translating~

I really wanted to know what happened to the space after leveling it up to 6 and I’m surprised they were able to keep their space hidden for so long I would think the secret would be exhausting at that point but necessary nonetheless. And I don’t know if it’s cannon or not but I feel like the plant that killed the zombie king is the one that’s afraid of the little annoying white ball LOL

  58. Octachus says:

……………..That’s it? The Zombie King got killed by a mutant plant? The supposedly strongest zombie died just like that by a plant? The last Big Boss villain perished so soundlessly and without even a decent amount of screentime? How… anticlimatic. I thought this novel would have a sequel about the revenge of the zombie king after the King has grown up.

This novel is worse than Otaku Reborn (the other novel of this novel’s author).

Thank you for your hardwork in translating this novel, translator.

  59. squalojaeger says:

Gostei bastante da novel ,bem criativa mesmo eu particularmente não gostando muito qnd mistura cultivo com apocalipse, porém o final me decepcionou, acabou muito abruptamente

  60. AiGongzhu says:

Plot twist: The apocalypse actually started because He Zizhong activated his space.

Reason 1: One day after he carved his name into the magic bracelet, thus activating the space, people started inexplicable fevers that kicked off the congestion in hospitals. Is it really a coincidence?
Reason 2: Although the space could upgrade using jade and other gems, the majority of its energy intake was obviously crystals nuclei from zombies, mutated plants, and mutated animals – which were all the products of the apocalypse. It needed the apocalypse to happen. Just how many jade and gems are there in the world and just how many could He Zizhong have access to? It couldn’t have upgraded with just that and it was even stated that while jade and gems could provide the space with energy same as the crystal nuclei, the energy was lesser than crystal nuclei. Otherwise, why would Tuanzi, that damned spawn of hell, not ever be interested in jade and gems just like it was not interested in lower lever crystal nuclei after upgrading. Is it really just a lucky encounter in the midst of misfortune that although people were turning into zombies, at least they had a space that could coincidentally be upgraded with nuclei dug out from the heads of those zombies?
Reason 3: The well water from the space can upgrade abilities which people only got after being infected with zombie virus and successfully resisting it. Another lucky thing. It couldn’t have been just to condition their bodies for martial arts since those martial arts manuals only appeared after upgrading.
Reason 4: (or more like the reason that prison base could not have been the source of the outbreak) The zombie king did not state whether it was born before or after the apocalypse but it said it was born from the mother of zombies as a fertilized egg of a normal human male and female injected into the womb of a female zombie. That tells us that there already was one at least one zombie when it was created. Its creators obviously did not want to created a zombie king through this experiment but accidentally did. Maybe they were looking for a breakthrough solution for humanity to get through the apocalypse? A new kind of human that is immune to the zombie virus via early introduction from its development as an embryo who could then continue the human race? Or maybe they thought they were cultivating a vaccine by cultivating a human baby immune to the zombie virus from whom they could then extract zombie virus antibodies.
Reason 5: (or more like 2nd reason why it couldn’t have been started from the prison base) What could have gone so wrong that the zombie virus spread so widely to the whole world from that tiny place? This is just not scientifically possible.
Reason 6: (or more like the reason why that little zombie king could not have started or facilitated the spread of the apocalypse) The apocalypse worsened when the weather went from bad to worse and the sun was not seen for more than three years as later scientists discovered that the sun could have killed off the zombie virus. The disappearance of the sun also killed off almost all normal plants. The zombie king certainly did not have the power to control the weather, or else it could have the sun never show up ever again and for the fog to never clear up – that way it would never have lost. Which brings us to the next reason.
Reason 6: Is it really also a coincidence for such a contrast between the weather in the space and the real world? When the real world’s skies are shit, the space is like a vacation island from the south.
Reason 7: Whenever the space upgrades and they needed higher-level crystal nuclei, the zombies would conveniently also upgrade to provide them exactly what they needed at just the right time and not too early or they might get killed off or be forced to retreat into a lower level space and stop upgrading altogether. Like, 2nd level zombies never appeared before the space upgraded into 2nd level, and so on and so forth up until they upgraded into the 5th level and 5th level zombies started appearing and the zombie king brought its armies. Even He Zizhong felt they might not be able to defeat a zombie army of that level and number with a commander and was preparing to just retreat with their favorite people into the base. Then with no earlier signs at all, the fog just suddenly clears up and the sun shines down to purify the land. Maybe even the space’s calculations and manipulations could not account for human intervention which created a zombie king and made it harder on the owner and so, it could only end the apocalypse early and suddenly? Otherwise, if the humans had not created such a formidable zombie king, maybe the normal zombies could have mindlessly upgraded into level six zombies to upgrade the space further and so on until full level by which time any emerging naturally-created zombie king would have been defeatable by the then upgraded Void Space Patriarch and Spouse, aka He Zizhong and Fang Hao. I guess those experiments and that zombie king really did end up bringing the end of the apocalypse, after all.

    1. AiGongzhu says:

Major corrections (too lazy for the minor ones):

(1)The second reason 6 is obv 7 and the last then becomes Reason 8.

      (2) Reason 8: …Even He Zizhong felt… retreat with their favorite people into the SPACE (not the base).

    2. komorebi says:

      It’s all a conspiracy right there! 😱

IIRC, the carving on the bracelet has been there longer than doomsday day 1 though

  61. Grace says:

Can anyone tell me what the other stories name are? Of this author (same genre) and can I find it here? Also thankyou for translating thissss
