Zhong Ming transmigrated into an unlimited flow horror game. His residence was a haunted, terrifying Western-style mansion, and his duties included serving as a servant, a butler, and occasionally, acting as a maid.
Life as a game NPC was hard work. Not only did Zhong Ming have to arrange the daily lives of the family of three living in the manor and act as a guide for new players at any given moment, but he was also responsible for the cleanup afterward.
This was a typical day for Zhong Ming:
In the morning, he prepared breakfast for the young master, supervised the child as he ate, and then tidied the nursery.
Just as he was gathering the bedsheets to take them for washing, the big boss on the second floor, the sixteen-legged Spider Duchess, suddenly rushed downstairs. Extending her massive mouthparts, she pointed at a human limb stuck between her teeth and gestured toward Zhong Ming: “Xiao Zhong, my teeth are stuck, and I can’t chew! Hurry, help me clean them out!”
Zhong Ming: “…Understood, Madam.”
After the Spider Duchess was back in working order and had completely wiped out the previous batch of players, Zhong Ming set about preparing for the next group. Because the haunted house hadn’t been conquered for years, the odds of winning were too high, and the lack of budget forced Zhong Ming to occasionally act as a maid.
Wearing a puffy maid’s dress, he stood in the center of the open gates and bowed to the new players:
“Welcome, everyone, to the haunted house.”
The players always reflexively assumed he had no self-awareness and whispered right in front of him:
“Wow…this maid is really something.”
“Those are white stockings, amazing.”
“As expected of a boss-level haunted house, even the NPCs are of such high quality.”
“I’d die happy if I died at her hands.”
Usually, Zhong Ming simply pretended not to hear these teases. After leading the new players into the manor, he still had to oversee lunch preparations, assign bedrooms, set up death triggers, and so on.
By the time he finally finished his busywork, night had fallen. Zhong Ming carried a tray, intending to go to the third floor to deliver a midnight snack to the master of the house—the Duke. But his path was blocked in the hallway by a new player.
The player, who looked like a male college student, raised an eyebrow at him and said, “Good evening, beautiful Miss Maid.”
He then leaned down, hooking a finger into the lace bow on the maid’s leg, and whispered, “If you give me a clue, I promise I’ll use an item to take you out of here and end your pathetic cycle—”
Zhong Ming looked up expressionlessly, glancing at the study door not far away.
Sure enough, a split second later, the Duke’s low voice drifted from inside: “Xiao Zhong, open the door.”
Zhong Ming obediently lowered his head and stepped forward to open the heavy, massive study door.
In the next instant, two octopus-like tentacles reached out and dragged the dazed college student inside. A moment later, the sound of bone-chilling chewing echoed from within the room.
Zhong Ming stood at the doorway with his head bowed. He waited for the Duke to finish his meal before carrying the tray into the study. Amidst a scene of fresh blood and human remains, he gently placed the tray of black tea and biscuits onto the desk.
From behind the massive solid wood chair, a tentacle still stained with blood reached out and pressed against his chin.
A deep, hoarse male voice came from behind the chair: “Xiao Zhong, haven’t I told you not to let others touch you as they please?”
