A shooting star streaked across the sky, and everything became strange.

Lin Jia realized that the people around him seemed to have lost the ability to speak.
All they could say was “yes” or “no.”

One night, during a blackout, there was a knock at the door.
Through the peephole, he saw the family of five from next door huddled outside.
From time to time, the sound of rumbling stomachs echoed in the darkness.

Lin Jia asked, “Did something happen?”
They answered: “No.”
Lin Jia asked, “Did you come here for me on purpose?”
They answered, “Yes.”
Lin Jia asked, “…Are you here to eat me?”

Even Lin Jia’s cat started acting strangely, always watching him silently in the dark.
When the family of five knocked on the door, the cat leaped onto his shoulder and gave a low warning.
“They’re coming in—”

P.S. The cat won’t stay a cat forever. Later, it turns into a person and never turns back. Since the outline was rewritten, the cat form now makes up about 4/5 of the whole story.

Warnings: Both MC and ML are flawed characters.

Inspiration: The story is inspired by Lateral Thinking Puzzles (also known as “Turtle Soup”).
The rules: The questioner describes a strange, confusing event. Players can ask any kind of question to narrow down the truth, but the questioner can only answer with “Yes,” “No,” or “Irrelevant.”
