Fengtian Hall – Hall of Heavenly Purity : Emperor’s court

Hall of Supreme Harmony/Qianqing Palace – Emperor palace

Qin De Hall :-was the residence of the crown prince and crown princess during their stay in the summer palace.

Changhe Garden :- where Chu jinyao will be staying.



IMPORTANT TERMS:

  1. Consort :- It is either a concubine or wife depending upon the usage of the word. Ex:- Prince Consort, it means Prince’s main wife. While Consort Li means concubine Li.
  2. Noble Consort :- Typically daughters of prominent officials in court i.e. the prime minister’s daughter or a general’s daughter that enter as a concubine to the emperor.
  3. Momo :- Elder maids were called (momo)or (mama): Sometimes they were nursemaids of princes and princesses
  4. Eunuchs:- Castrated male servants in the Imperial Palace. The Emperor was the only fertile male allowed in the Inner Palace but they still needed to hire help. They could amass quite a bit of wealth in their lifetimes. Unlike maids, they were allowed (with permission) to exit the palace to run errands and were generally given higher positions as well. gonggong:The respectful form of address for a eunuch
  5. Grand Secretariat :- Starting in the Ming Dynasty, the government adopted the Yuan Dynasty’s model having only one department instead of three. It was called the Grand Secretariat, which was responsible for overseeing the six ministries.
  6. Eastern Palace:– It is the place where Crown prince lives and when referring to him or his servants they collectively say Eastern Palace. Eastern Palace is also called as Ciqing Palace.
