Crash!
The glass petal chandelier on the ceiling flickered to life, flooding the entire room with blinding brightness, and revealing every detail inside.
Yu Zhi glanced down to see the young man hurriedly pulling the blanket over himself, his face twisted in discomfort, perhaps from being kicked or falling.
Yu Zhi’s first reaction wasn’t to rush forward and inquire about his well-being but rather to furrow his brow and ask sternly, “What are you doing here?” And why aren’t you dressed?
A hint of coldness and sarcasm flickered in the young man’s eyes. In such a situation, there was no need for pretense.
Yet, he played along smoothly, saying, “You didn’t tell me where I should sleep.”
Yu Zhi sensed something was amiss but didn’t dwell on it. After all, according to the original plot, Yin Xu was not so compliant. Even when sent to that old man with peculiar tastes by Father Lin, he never yielded.
Turning away, Yu Zhi headed for the closet and tossed some clothes to the young man. “Get dressed. Find any guest room to rest. We’ll talk tomorrow.”
To Yin Xu’s ears, this translated to ‘You have a day’s reprieve. Tomorrow, we’ll deal with this.’
He wasn’t being dramatic. He reluctantly put on the man’s clothes, half-covered by the blanket, even though it made him feel nauseous, even though he wished he could immerse himself in disinfectant, he didn’t show it.
But one was a fully developed adult male, and the other was an adolescent boy not yet fully grown, which meant that when he put on the clothes, it looked like a child wearing adult clothes, comical and ridiculous.
Seeing this, Yu Zhi’s brows relaxed, his voice involuntarily softened. “Wear them for now. Tomorrow, I’ll have someone bring you clothes that fit.”
He was just a child, a minor matter, not worth fussing over.
Recalling the kick he delivered just now, he couldn’t help but worry. In the previous world, it wasn’t a time of peace, and his identity was special. He was on guard against assassination attempts every day, and encountering such a situation had almost become reflexive.
“Where did I kick you? Does it hurt?”
Yin Xu trembled all over, unable to see his expression as he lowered his head. He deliberately ignored the fiery pain in his buttocks but felt it must be bruised and swollen. His voice remained calm. “It’s fine. Doesn’t hurt.”
Yu Zhi knew the strength of his kick. How could he not know he was lying? But he also considered it a private area, difficult for the other party to talk about. “There’s medicine under the coffee table in the living room. If it hurts, apply it yourself.”
Glancing at the time, he added, “It’s too late. Go to bed.”
Yin Xu, enduring the pain in his buttocks, was ushered out of the room, hesitatingly glancing at the closed door.
After a moment, Yin Xu limped his way to the living room, kneeling on the ground and rummaging under the coffee table. His fingers paused when they touched a small box.
He took out the box and looked at the name on it. Although it was unopened, he felt as if he had touched something dirty. He quickly threw it aside, his chest heaving irregularly, a hint of mockery curling his lips. He gave up on finding the medicine, stood up, and went straight to the guest room, picking the room farthest from the master bedroom.
The morning sunlight had just spilled onto the bed when Yu Zhi, still half asleep, received a phone call.
“Hello, I’m… Wait a moment, I’ll be there soon.”
After hanging up the phone, Yu Zhi lost his drowsiness. He got up and dressed while calling his assistant.
“I’m not going to the office today. Come to the apartment if there’s anything.”
After hastily eating breakfast, Yu Zhi got into the car driven by his chauffeur and headed out.
Yin Xu slept until it was fully daylight. As he was about to get up, he hissed in pain, unable to help but furrow his brows. He went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, only to see that the area around his buttocks had turned from blue to purple. This made Yin Xu unable to resist complaining. Did that person practice Iron Sand Foot Techniques?
Since the clothes hadn’t arrived yet, he could only continue wearing the outfit the man had given him last night.
He wanted to go to the kitchen to find something to eat but bumped into a middle-aged woman as soon as he entered the living room.
“You’re Mr. Yu’s guest, right? Breakfast is on the table, or if you’d like, I can make something for you.” The woman smiled kindly, her face not showing any surprise, obviously having been briefed in advance.
However, she couldn’t help but mutter in her heart. Mr. Yu had never brought a boy home before, so why now? Looking at the clothes and the way the boy walked, the woman couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, thinking that wealthy people were different; they could change their preferences as they pleased.
Yu Zhi had never imagined that on his first day in this world, he would bring the mission target home, let alone that the next day he would be called to the school because of a fight involving his ‘son’.
After rushing to the school, Yu Zhi went straight to the classroom office, where many people were already gathered.
At first glance, Yu Zhi spotted his ‘adopted son’ in this world, mainly because the boy was so conspicuously chubby.
Xiao Pang 1 Xiao Pang = Little Chubby also saw him and ran overjoyed, “Dad!”
Seeing the boy about to hug him, Yu Zhi extended a finger to his forehead, keeping him at bay.
The boy was covered in dust and stains as if he had rolled around in a garbage dump.
“Mr. Yu, hello. Here’s the situation: your young master had a conflict with a few classmates and one of them, Student Xu, got injured. We had to call you today to address the matter.” The teacher spoke to him with a smile, her tone flattering and conciliatory, and she also went out of her way to protect Xiao Pang in her words.
Not only her, but even the parent of the classmate who had fought with Xiao Pang wore a smile, displaying a friendly attitude and showing no intention of pursuing the matter, simply saying, “Kids will be kids, it’s just a small matter.”
“No fight, no acquaintance. I believe my son and yours will surely become good friends in the future.” The implication was clear.
The boy who had fought with Xiao Pang felt aggrieved and looked suppressed when he saw his father’s attitude. He didn’t dare to demand an apology anymore and instead cowered behind his father like a quail.
Seeing Xiao Pang’s self-righteous appearance, Yu Zhi couldn’t help but laugh in exasperation.
No wonder in the original owner’s impression, his son was just a bit mischievous and ignorant. It turned out that many matters were being blown out of proportion or trivialized.
From the conversations of these people, Yu Zhi easily deduced what had happened.
Xiao Pang liked a girl, but she liked the boy standing in front of him instead. Feeling angry and humiliated, Xiao Pang gathered a few friends and beat up the boy. Unfortunately, a passing teacher witnessed it, and now the boy wanted to call his parents.
Grabbing Xiao Pang by the back of his shirt collar, Yu Zhi threw him in front of the boy named Xu and said in a low voice, “Apologize.”
Xiao Pang was extremely unwilling. “Why?!”
“Because you did something wrong,” Yu Zhi said coldly. “Who taught you to gang up and bully others?”
Xiao Pang shouted loudly, “Because he stole my girlfriend!”
Is your hair long enough to have a girlfriend again?
Mr. Xu also spoke kindly, “It’s just a small misunderstanding. My son doesn’t like that little girl at all and won’t compete with your son.”
Only then did Xiao Pang puff out his chest proudly. “That’s more like it.”
Yu Zhi glanced at the teacher and the other boy’s parent, who had identical expressions, and then at Xu, who dared to be angry but not speak up. His brows furrowed slightly.
“When you’re wrong, you’re wrong. I apologize to Mr. Xu on his behalf, and I’ll fully compensate for the medical expenses he incurred,” Yu Zhi said, addressing the handling of the matter. Then, he turned to the teacher, his tone calm but unwavering. “I’m sorry, but I think I need to discuss the matter of having my son transferred to another school.”
The teacher was stunned. “Wh-why would he need to transfer? Mr. Yu, I can assure you that such incidents won’t happen again…”
“I’m sorry, but I insist,” Yu Zhi said firmly, leaving no room for refusal.
In the afternoon, Yin Xu heard the sound of the door opening and saw the man returning, accompanied by Xiao Pang.
As soon as Xiao Pang entered the house, he threw his backpack violently onto the sofa, as if about to explode in anger. But then he suddenly caught sight of Yin Xu.
“Who is he? And why is he wearing your clothes?” Xiao Pang’s questioning voice echoed throughout the living room, and for a moment, Yin Xu felt as if he were not wearing any clothes at all, overwhelmed by shame.
Xiao Pang glanced at Yu Zhi and then at Yin Xu, his eyes darting around, suddenly realizing something. “He’s your lover too, isn’t he? Not only do you want to find me a stepmother, but you also want to find me a stepfather?”
Yin Xu lowered his gaze, his fists clenched in his palms. Exactly.
Yu Zhi shot him a sidelong glance. “Nonsense!”
“Go clean yourself up,” he ordered.
Xiao Pang erupted, “I won’t! What can you do to me if I don’t wash up?!”
Yu Zhi gave him a casual glance and then turned to the maid in the kitchen. “Only prepare dinner for two tonight, don’t bother with him.” He pointed at Xiao Pang.
Xiao Pang widened his eyes. “You tyrant! Fascist!” He stomped his foot in anger. “I don’t care about your dinner!”
With that, he dashed back to his room and slammed the door shut.
Hmph! If he doesn’t want to eat, he doesn’t have to. He still has snacks.
Yu Zhi glanced at Yin Xu, noticing he was still wearing the same clothes. He then remembered he forgot to ask someone to send clothes over and dialed his assistant.
“Come to the study, let’s talk,” he said before turning to leave.
Yin Xu glanced at his departing figure and then looked at the messages on his phone:
【Yin Xu: When will you help me change my household registration?】
【Scumbag: How is Mr. Yu treating you?】
Yin Xu didn’t ask further, knowing the other party wouldn’t easily let go of someone still useful.
So, the only one who could help him now was that man.
He steadied his mind, took a deep breath, and mentally prepared himself before pushing open the door to the study.
“As for your household registration and schooling issues, I can help with both,” Yu Zhi replied, sitting in his swivel chair and replying to work emails without looking up.
Yin Xu felt a sense of certainty, believing he understood the underlying meaning behind Yu Zhi’s words.
The other party had already made their offer, and now it was his turn to offer his compensation.
With a bitter smile in his heart, he thought about burning bridges.
His hand trembled as it reached for the buttons on his clothes.
