“What are you doing?”
Yu Zhi casually raised his head and saw Yin Xu already unbuttoning his third button, raising an eyebrow in inquiry.
Yin Xu inwardly smirked, resenting his hypocrisy but still had to take steps forward, walking up to the man. “I’m… thanking you for your help.”
Yu Zhi held down his hand unbuttoning and spoke calmly but coldly, “Your clothes haven’t arrived yet. Go to your room to change.”
With the two of them so close, Yu Zhi could easily hear and feel the rapid beating of Yin Xu’s heart, particularly clear in this quiet space.
The fair and delicate skin beneath the shirt was within arm’s reach, faintly carrying a fragrance reminiscent of shower gel but mixed with a unique scent of body odor.
Yin Xu took a couple of breaths and moved his lips, “You don’t…”
Yu Zhi didn’t wait for him to finish, his voice low as he rebuked, “Go back!”
Yin Xu trembled in fear, looking at Yu Zhi’s expressionless face. After a moment, he stumbled out of the study. Watching his retreating figure, it seemed to carry a sense of fleeing in panic.
Bang!
The door slammed shut.
Yu Zhi remained silent for a moment, rubbing his temples with a slight headache.
He understood Yin Xu’s actions just now but chose not to address them directly.
On one hand, he found it amusing, but upon further thought, he felt a bit sorry for the kid, fearing his embarrassment.
Recalling last night, Yu Zhi suddenly realized that Yin Xu hadn’t entered the wrong room; he had willingly offered himself.
He pursed his lips and got up, heading to the cheap son’s room.
“Who let you in? Get out, get out!” The door suddenly swung open, and Xiao Pang’s hand hastily hid under the covers, panic evident on his face.
Yu Zhi didn’t bother talking to him, simply opening the closet and confiscating the snacks stored inside.
As he watched Yu Zhi ruthlessly take away his stash of snacks, Xiao Pang was stunned. After a moment, he jumped off the bed and tried to snatch them back.
“You villain! You big villain!”
Yu Zhi effortlessly lifted the snacks to a height out of Xiao Pang’s reach and said calmly, “Since you’re not hungry, there’s no need for these snacks. Get some rest; you have to go to the new school tomorrow.”
With that, he turned and left the room.
Xiao Pang looked at the half-eaten bag of chips hidden under his covers and cried.
His old man was going through a midlife crisis; why did he have to be so unlucky?
Walking down the corridor with the snack bag in hand, Yu Zhi paused when he passed a door. After a moment’s thought, he raised his hand and knocked. Hearing no response, he simply opened the door and walked in.
“These are the snacks confiscated from Xiao Pang’s room. Here, take them. Don’t let him have any…”
His words trailed off abruptly as he saw the scene inside the room.
Yin Xu, with his pants hastily pulled up, stood by the bed with a slightly pained expression.
Yu Zhi hadn’t forgotten the sight of the swollen buttocks he had seen earlier, likely from his kick last night. He didn’t know what to say; saying too much would only make things more awkward. Smelling the medicinal scent in the room, he assumed Yin Xu had applied some ointment. He decided to leave the snacks at the foot of the bed.
“Just stay here for now. I’ll help you,” Yu Zhi said, fearing Yin Xu might overthink. Adding as he left, “You don’t need to do anything.”
Yin Xu didn’t believe it. He looked at the man about to leave and suddenly spoke up, “I’m already eighteen.”
There was no need to worry about him being a minor.
Yu Zhi paused in his steps, turned to look at him, and chuckled, “Just eighteen, still young.”
At the same time, he began to rethink his plans for Yin Xu. The school he had been accepted to wasn’t that good; there was no need for him to attend.
Yin Xu watched the man leave and recalled his words, saying he was still young at eighteen.
The implication was, was he being raised like a pet until he was mature enough to be devoured?
The feeling of having one’s fate controlled wasn’t pleasant, but for now, he could only rely on the man’s whims to survive.
Despite feeling disgusted with himself, he had no right to refuse. As long as there was a glimmer of hope, he would grit his teeth and endure.
Anyway… anyway, even though this man was a bit older and had many lovers, everything else seemed… fine?
Thunk!
Yin Xu was startled, thinking, could the man be having second thoughts? But could he refuse?
“Please…” Before he could finish, a small figure slipped in sneakily.
Xiao Pang looked left and right, his eyes finally gleaming as they landed on the snack bag on the bed. He immediately rushed forward to grab it, but just as he was about to get his hands on it, Yin Xu picked up the snack bag.
Xiao Pang wasn’t pleased, hands on hips, demanding, “That’s mine, give it back to me now!”
Ignoring him, Yin Xu remembered what the man had said when he came in, “He… your dad said you can’t have it.”
Since he was living here, he knew he should listen to whoever would make his life easier.
Xiao Pang was furious, “Aren’t you my dad’s lover? I’m my dad’s only real son. If you please me, you’re pleasing my dad. Believe me, I can tell him how much I dislike you and get him to dump you!”
Yin Xu heard the words ‘dump you’ clearly, his heart skipped a beat. After hesitating for a moment, he hesitantly asked, “…Does your dad enjoy dumping people?”
Xiao Pang puffed out his chest without hesitation, “Of course he does. There have been no less than two-digit numbers of women around my dad, each for no more than a month. My dad’s true love is still me, his son. Those women try to please me, but I never give them any good treatment.”
His chubby face practically screamed, ‘I’m willing to give you a chance to please me, so you better seize it and be grateful to me’, in bold letters.
But to his surprise, Yin Xu, who had been hesitant about giving him some snacks, completely folded them away without even looking at Xiao Pang.
“Your dad said you can’t have it.” Yin Xu smiled lightly for the first time since he arrived, “I listen to your dad.”
He figured the man wouldn’t be stingy with some sort of breakup fee before dumping him, like… helping him sort out his household registration and school records.
Xiao Pang: “???”
The next day, Yu Zhi lifted the gloomy Xiao Pang out of bed and stuffed him and his school bag into the car.
He dropped off the despairing Xiao Pang at the new school.
The new school emphasized discipline and academic performance. While it couldn’t compare to private schools in terms of a broad curriculum and holistic student development, its strict disciplinary measures alone were enough to convince Yu Zhi to enroll Xiao Pang there.
He also tightened control over Xiao Pang’s pocket money. Without ample allowance, Xiao Pang couldn’t recruit lackeys and couldn’t act like a tyrant at school anymore.
Seeing his father, so cruel and heartless, Xiao Pang couldn’t contain his anger and shouted loudly at Yu Zhi’s departing figure, “Tyrant! Bastard! I curse you won’t find a wife!”
Yu Zhi paid no heed, as he didn’t need a wife in the first place.
Once in the car, he called his assistant to inquire about the collaboration project with the Lin family. Learning that the project contract hadn’t been signed yet, he decided to handle the matter personally.
“Arrange a meeting with Lin Youde for me, and make sure he prepares what I need.”
With the assistant’s efficient handling, Lin Youde didn’t dare delay. They agreed to meet in the reception room of Yu’s.
Upon seeing him, Lin Youde immediately adopted a flattering demeanor. “Director Yu, I wonder if my son behaves himself in your presence. If necessary, I can always assist in his education.”
If he had his way, Lin Youde wouldn’t let go of Yin Xu, who still had utility. Seeing Yu Zhi showing interest in the kid, it was better to keep him under control.
Yu Zhi sensed Mr. Lin’s reluctance to release Yin Xu and closed the contract he had prepared. His tone turned cold. “Mr. Lin, business relies on integrity. A fair deal involves give and take. If you intend to deceive, be wary of becoming the prey yourself.”
Yu Zhi lowered his head to sip his coffee, not even glancing at Lin Youde, but his voice carried a light, airy tone as if casually chatting. “What do you think?”
Lin Youde wiped the sweat off his forehead, nervously agreeing, “Yes… Yes! Mr. Yu is wise! Please take care of my son!”
Only then did Yu Zhi sign the contract.
After Mr. Lin left, his assistant came in. “Sir, the Lin family is known for cutting corners and delivering subpar products. They’re not good partners. Why choose to work with them?”
With his capabilities, obtaining what he wanted through other means would be easy, yet he chose to cooperate. The assistant felt puzzled.
“It’s just a contract. There are plenty of ways to terminate it,” Yu Zhi hinted.
“But don’t you think this is a good opportunity?” Yu Zhi said meaningfully.
“What opportunity?” the assistant asked.
Of course, it was an opportunity to swallow up the Lin family.
Yu Zhi was no philanthropist, nor was he interested in helping a… no, a group of scum reach the pinnacle of life.
In the evening, Yin Xu, wearing new clothes, received his household registration book, ID card, and school records from the man. His hands trembled uncontrollably, and he seemed to be in a daze, unable to believe that something he had tried so hard for was effortlessly handed to him by this man.
“Th-Thank you…” his voice trailed off, realizing with a hint of choked emotion in his throat, surprising even himself. He felt embarrassed in front of the man, his cheeks flushing as he cast his eyes downward.
Yu Zhi sighed inwardly at how moved Yin Xu was by such a small gesture, indicating he had endured much hardship.
“It’s nothing,” he said casually, setting down the lukewarm tea and pushing a document toward Yin Xu. “You used to work and study part-time, and the school you got into isn’t great. I’ve decided to let you retake the exam and arranged for you to attend a new school for review. I’ll help you prepare for the college entrance exam over the next year. Here are the details of the new school. Take a look. I’ll take you to register in a couple of days.”
Yin Xu took the documents but didn’t open them.
He couldn’t understand why the man was doing so much for him. If it was just payment for sleeping with him, it didn’t require all of this.
Strange, he had previously been relieved not to have to sleep with him temporarily, but now he felt that if it meant sleeping with this man, he wasn’t so unwilling after all.
He had received benefits, and this was the price he should pay.
Yu Zhi poured himself another cup of hot tea, noticing Yin Xu still standing in front of him.
“If there’s nothing else, you can go back to your room to rest or review your studies. The entrance exam will assess your level of knowledge. I’ll provide you with everything you need for school…”
“I’m willing…”
Yu Zhi’s voice trailed off.
Yin Xu raised his head solemnly, looking at him earnestly. “Mr. Yu, if you want to sleep with me, you don’t need to pick a time, or gauge my mood, and you certainly don’t need to play the role of a virtuous gentleman in some kind of strategy game.”
“To accompany you to bed, I’m willing.”
Yu Zhi: “…”
Yin Xu chuckled lightly, though it was unclear at whom the laughter was directed. It seemed almost ugly, like crying. “Take advantage while I’m still young and taste good. I’ve heard it’s not as good when I grow up…”
Yu Zhi remained silent for a while, then suddenly reached out towards him. Yin Xu instinctively wanted to step back but held his ground.
He put down the documents, waiting to be consumed and devoured.
