ITF Chapter47

For a few seconds, Luo Congye couldn’t hear any sound at all. He stood there like an utterly clueless lad, letting Bai Heting cup his face and suck on his stiff, numb tongue.

By the time he came to his senses, the beautiful sound of Bai Heting’s panting was filling his ears; and by the time he came to his senses again, he had already pushed Bai Heting against the wall.

He hadn’t controlled his strength well with that movement, and Bai Heting’s back hit the brick wall with a heavy, muffled thud. Luo Congye quickly slipped his hand behind his back, kneading his shoulder blade as he asked in a panicked tone, “Did that hurt?”

Bai Heting kissed his mouth again.

It was like moving from one extreme to another; the person who had been doing his utmost to endure just moments ago was now roughly and aggressively sweeping through his mouth. Luo Congye’s tongue grew numb from the suction. Cupping him with both hands, he lifted him up and pinned him against the wall.

“You kissed me,” he said seriously while looking up. “You have to take responsibility for me.”

The pitch-black night cut off his vision, but at a distance where they could hear each other breathe, the breathing of the person in front of him gradually slowed down, and the arms wrapped around his neck loosened their grip.

Kissing was something you only did with someone you liked.

Luo Congye let out a soft laugh.

“I’m joking.”

He leaned in to find Bai Heting’s lips, and Bai Heting tightened his hold around his neck once more.

The general was right.

No one could get closer to the general than him.

“You’re so hot.” He lowered his head, forcefully sucking and kissing Bai Heting’s shoulder. This body was like a piece of fully ripened fruit, smelling sweet and easily yielding its juices under pressure.

“And you smell so good.” He sighed.

Bai Heting’s body kept sliding downward to the point where he could barely hold onto his neck. Only then did Luo Congye sluggishly notice something amiss.

He stopped his movements and touched Bai Heting’s face.

His hand came away covered in sweat.

Since it had only been half a month since the last heat, Luo Congye’s tone carried a hint of hesitation, “You… you’re in heat.”

Hanging off him in a state of near-exhaustion, Bai Heting slowly nodded.

Luo Congye hurriedly carried him onto his narrow bed.

He helped Bai Heting pull his open shirt back together, saying in a low voice, “I’m sending you back to your quarters.”

Bai Heting pressed his hand down over his.

“No one will see us.” Luo Congye pulled his hand away and began feeling around in the dark for the trousers that had been hastily dropped on the floor earlier. His attitude was resolute. “Not here. It won’t do.”

Bai Heting’s head was dizzy and heavy, and his voice was faint when he spoke, “Do you think that people with status are all naturally noble, refined, and delicate?”

Luo Congye explained helplessly, “I didn’t mean it like that.”

“A bed.” Bai Heting curled his fingers and tapped the bedboard beneath him twice with his fingertips. “When I was a child, I never even slept on something like this.”

Luo Congye froze for a moment and looked toward the bed.

But he couldn’t make out anything at all.

“Come here.” Bai Heting’s mind was drifting on the edge of delirium. He raised his hand and swiped at the empty air while murmuring a call to him, “Come here and hold me.”

The dark, cramped environment reminded Luo Congye of that rainy night during the autumn hunt.

Bai Heting, however, thought of white waves.

One wave would crash just as another rose, surging high and low, never ceasing.

He was swept up and down by these churning, relentless white waves, thinking in a dazed blur—

He hadn’t,

take this kid,

to see the sea yet.

……

“Today, you seem like you’re made of water.” Luo Congye sighed softly.

“You’ve dropped the honorifics again.” With every distinct beat of their hearts vibrating against his eardrums, Bai Heting said with his eyes closed, “No manners.”

Luo Congye shut his mouth, but in the end, he couldn’t hold back anymore and blurted out the question he had been keeping bottled up all night, “Do you also dislike my name?”

Bai Heting asked lazily, “Why would you think that?”

“You’ve barely ever called me by my name.” Luo Congye’s tone, however, was very serious.

Bai Heting hadn’t thought about this question deeply before, but thinking about it now, it indeed seemed to be the case.

He hadn’t really addressed Luo Congye by his full name much.

Ultimately, the three characters of “Luo Congye” were his own original name, and he had even let others call him “Ah Ye” for a period of time.

Calling someone else by his own name always felt somewhat bizarre, and when the two of them were alone, they were usually in bed, making it even harder to say out loud.

As he remained silent, Luo Congye could only continue giving voice to the conjectures he had been harboring for days, “Could it be that you just gave me a name on a whim, but you actually dislike it yoursel—”

“No.” Bai Heting interrupted his wild imagination.

“Luo, is…” He went quiet for a few seconds, weighing his words before saying, “my mother’s surname.”

Hearing this, Luo Congye was stunned, and he lowered his head to look over again.

Although the domestic servants in the mansion had privately whispered some speculations regarding the general’s biological father, he had never heard a single word about the general’s mother.

“What kind of person was your mother?” he asked curiously.

“He…” Bai Heting’s mouth opened and closed. In the end, he sorted through his memories and picked out the only positive adjective, “He was very beautiful.”

That was only natural, Luo Congye thought.

With the general possessing such a perfect face, his mother must have been a devastating beauty as well.

Bai Heting could no longer remember every single detail of his time with Luo Wanyin. After thinking for a moment, he found another description that wasn’t exactly positive, but couldn’t be considered too negative either, “He was also very afraid of the dark.”

The room was pitch-black at the moment. Luo Congye raised his hand to hold his shoulders and asked softly, “Are you afraid of the dark?”

Bai Heting said candidly, “No.”

Luo Congye’s hand paused as he caressed his shoulder.

Right.

This was the all-powerful Bai Heting, who could still calmly slaughter nine fully armed Alphas with his own hands even while his body was in an extremely weak condition.

Bai Heting wouldn’t harbor an emotion like fear.

Luo Congye then thought of his own mother, who had been innocently caught up and died a violent death, and his mood sank as well.

“Do you miss her?” He asked.

The question caught Bai Heting off guard for a moment.

It is very difficult for a person to understand anything they have never experienced themselves.

Just as he couldn’t understand why Luo Congye would shed tears over his mother’s death, Luo Congye probably couldn’t understand his complex emotions toward Luo Wanyin either.

He likely felt no love for Luo Wanyin.

But it didn’t seem quite like hate either.

After all, compared to those abandoned infants who were cast aside at whim, he was already considered a lucky one among illegitimate children.

Within his emotions toward Luo Wanyin, there was, more than anything, confusion.

Luo Wanyin had clearly cursed him to die yet had still chosen to provide him with food to eat.

His breathing turned heavy. Annoyed with himself for spoiling the general’s mood, Luo Congye proactively changed the subject, “I am really happy today.”

Bai Heting let out a silent laugh.

It was rare, this kid who usually wore a perpetually bleak expression was actually admitting, for once, that he was happy.

The warm breath tickled Luo Congye’s chest, making it itch. “Because you came to find me.”

Bai Heting’s breath grew even hotter.

But this was a mistake.

He shouldn’t have come.

Starting from tonight, everyone in the entire mansion would know that the two of them shared this kind of unspeakable, hidden relationship.

But the receding heat returned with a vengeance. He bit Luo Congye once as if in punishment, urging unendurably, “I’m so hot… stop talking nonsense.”

At dawn, Qiu Chen stood alone inside the completely vacant servants’ quarters. About fifteen minutes later, Luo Congye finally came to answer the door.

His upper body was bare, and hot sweat was sliding down his defined muscles. Even though Qiu Chen couldn’t smell the oppressive Alpha pheromones, he couldn’t help but take a large step back on his own accord.

Maintaining a safe distance from Luo Congye, he cleared his throat and asked euphemistically, “Is the General’s body feeling any better?”

Luo Congye shook his head.

“It’s already the fourth day.” Qiu Chen’s gaze moved past him, settling on the tightly shut bedroom door, anxiety once again surfacing on his face. “This won’t do. Give the General a shot of suppressor. I have an urgent matter to report.”

“What matters?” Luo Congye blocked the doorway, his body not moving an inch. “You know suppressors are useless.”

Just as Qiu Chen was about to say something more, the two of them looked toward the door panel at the same time.

A low, raspy “Let him in” drifted out from inside the room.

Luo Congye glanced at Qiu Chen, turned around to walk into the room, and only opened the door for him again after fifteen minutes had passed.

“What matters?”

Bai Heting was already fully and neatly dressed. He sat by the edge of the bed with his back leaning against the wall at the headboard. Although there was a flush on his face, his demeanor had already returned to how it usually was.

Qiu Chen didn’t dare to cast a single glance inside the room.

“General,” the restrained adjutant kept his gaze lowered, his footsteps halting strictly outside the room, “His Majesty is hosting a court banquet at the Colosseum today. Yesterday, all the princes, dukes, and nobles within the capital received banquet invitations, including you.”

“A banquet?” Today was not a festival, nor was it the birthday of any royal family member. Bai Heting’s voice carried a weariness he couldn’t conceal. “For what reason is the banquet being held?”

Qiu Chen kept his head bowing and said, “To bestow rewards upon the young General Shao.”

“Shao Yixiao?” Bai Heting furrowed his brows, sitting up a bit straighter. “Why the reward?”

“He…” Qiu Chen answered succinctly and clearly, “captured the commander of the Urdan rebel army.”
