Qu Moyu asked Lao Wu and Aunt Lan to accompany Shen Dai home to pick up the child.
Along the way, both Lao Wu and Aunt Lan tried to talk to Shen Dai. But Shen Dai seemed to be taken out of time, with his head against the car window. He didn’t respond for a long time.
When the car stopped downstairs, Shen Dai looked at the familiar unit door, thinking that the old woman and child he wanted to protect were all here. He suddenly came back to his senses. He grabbed Aunt Lan’s hand and begged: “Aunt Lan, can you help me contact Madam Qu and ask her to help me?”
Aunt Lan looked at Shen Dai sympathetically and said helplessly, “Madam can’t help you now. When the young master was emotionally overwhelmed, he had a big quarrel with the old man at the company the day before yesterday. He would listen to no one now.”
Shen Dai looked at Aunt Lan with pleading eyes.
“Ah Dai, it’s not that I don’t want to help you. The young master’s temper is very scary. Now is not the time. I can only help you by coming back to stay with you.”
“……Coming back?”
“I was just called back from my hometown by the young master.” Aunt Lan sighed, “Last year, I quietly called Madam to come and the young master was very angry with me. Although he didn’t drive me away, I was embarrassed so I retired. In fact, I miss the young master very much. After all, he was brought up by me. That day, the young master asked me to come back to take care of your child. So I came back right away.”
Shen Dai couldn’t open his mouth to beg her anymore. He whispered, “I’m sorry, I’ve troubled you.”
“Don’t say that. I don’t regret it at all.” Aunt Lan held Shen Dai’s hand and clapped, “I didn’t do it just for you. I did it for the young master and Madam as well. I don’t want the young master to regret it later. Madam actually needs such an opportunity to. Hmm… how to say? At least for Madam, being able to save this child is a redemption for her.”
Shen Dai said in a trembling voice, “But I don’t want to have anything to do with him. Let alone let Qiuqiu get close to him.”
Aunt Lan sighed again and murmured, “Why is this happening?”
Lao Wu also cast a complicated look through the rearview mirror.
Shen Dai resigned and got out of the car. He stood there for several minutes before adjusting his expression and going upstairs to pick up Qiuqiu.
His grandmother and the nanny had been with Qiuqiu for a long time. Qiuqiu had already cried twice because he couldn’t see Shen Dai. Almost as soon as he entered the house, he heard Qiuqiu’s excited and urgent screams. The little nose was really good at smelling.
The nanny sent Qiuqiu into Shen Dai’s arms. Qiuqiu held onto Shen Dai’s shirt and arched it back and forth, rubbing his saliva on his sleeve, as if expressing his dissatisfaction.
Shen Dai reluctantly pretended to be fine and made up a reason why he went out in the morning and came back in the afternoon. He also made up the reason for why the moving truck for the things that he had packed all day yesterday would not come for the time being.
His grandmother was already exhausted by Qiuqiu, so she didn’t ask too many questions. Shen Dai followed his grandmother into her bedroom and watched her lay down to sleep. The two chatted for a while, before he took Qiuqiu’s daily necessities and left.
Aunt Lan, who saw Qiuqiu for the first time, was also very fond of him.
Shen Dai always felt that Qiuqiu seemed to be able to distinguish his own preferences and then decide whether he liked that person or not based on his own father’s preferences. This is always the case every time he sees a stranger. Is alpha naturally so sensitive? If this is the case, Qiuqiu will always resist Qu Moyu. How can he let Qiuqiu live in an environment he doesn’t like?
Shen Dai looked down at Qiuqiu. His innocent eyes were full of curiosity and ignorance about this world. Qiuqiu might never know what he went through from conception to birth and he almost couldn’t be given birth. That opportunity is now used as a bargaining chip to blackmail him. He bit his lower lip secretly. No one is allowed to take his child away. No one.
When they returned to Qu’s house, it was already dark. But the whole villa was brightly lit, as if waiting to welcome some important guests.
Shen Dai didn’t get out of the car. From here, he could only see Uncle Heng and others waiting by the door, but he knew that Qu Moyu would definitely be in the living room. Even if he knew that he stepped into this house, it would be impossible to avoid that person, but his whole will was resisting against him. He whispered to Aunt Lan: “Aunt Lan, there are so many people. Qiuqiu will be afraid.”
“Oh, then let’s go to the underground garage and take the elevator directly upstairs. The room is already tidied up.”
Lao Wu turned his head and drove down the garage slope on the other side of the garden.
Shen Dai carried Qiuqiu upstairs. As soon as the elevator door opened, he saw the familiar guest room at the end of the corridor. Back then, when he was ‘staying’ at Qu’s house, it was this guest room that he had stayed in. He seemed to have made a big circle and returned to the starting point. But everything had changed.
When he walked into the room, there was a small bed next to the bed he once slept on. There were also many baby products in the room. There were several brands of baby milk powder and diapers. There were even some child’s necessities that were not for a small baby such as Qiuqiu. This was obviously a mess purchased in a tight time where they think that it is better to buy more than to have a shortage of stuff.
Aunt Lan explained: “We still don’t know what Qiuqiu usually eats and uses, so we prepared some in advance. Oh, you have all the things you used to use before here too. The young master has hired two childcare nannies and a special nutritionist for you. They will be on duty tomorrow. In the past few days, there were also some renovations done at home for it to be suitable for young children. You can tell Aunt Lan what you and Qiuqiu need and what you want me to do for you.”
Shen Dai stood by the door and looked at all this with a dull expression. It was as if everything had nothing to do with him but tightly bound his limbs to the place. He was trapped and so was his child.
There was a sound of footsteps behind him and Shen Dai suddenly felt a chill down his back. He didn’t even want to turn back.
Qu Moyu walked in and watched Shen Dai lowered his head with his back to him. A long and fair neck was exposed from the collar. The flesh-colored pheromone sticker was pasted on the back of the neck. He stared at Shen Dai’s neck, opened his mouth and said: “If you need anything else, Uncle Heng will prepare it for you in the shortest possible time.”
Uncle Heng nodded and stared at Qiuqiu.
Qu Moyu took a deep breath, walked in front of Shen Dai, and tentatively looked at Qiuqiu.
Qiuqiu rolled his two big black eyes and looked left and right, curious about the new environment. When he met Qu Moyu’s eyes, he was stunned. His saliva overflowed from the corner of his mouth and the room was silent for like ten years. After a few seconds, Qiuqiu’s humming sound came, as if he was hesitating whether to cry or not.
Shen Dai hugged Qiuqiu and walked to the window, away from Qu Moyu. It was almost the farthest position on the diagonal. He whispered, “You guys go out first.”
Qu Moyu wanted to approach but he didn’t dare. He glanced at Shen Dai’s nanny bag and couldn’t help but say, “You take Bai…” In front of other people, he really didn’t have the face to mention another alpha’s name. So he asked, “You also brought the substitute pheromone?”
Shen Dai didn’t look at him directly: “Go out.”
Qu Moyu said to Uncle Heng, “You guys go out first.”
Uncle Heng and Aunt Lan had to withdraw themselves.
When there were only two people left in the room, Qu Moyu said warmly, “Ah Dai, when Qiuqiu was sick last time, he had already accepted my pheromone. Give us some time. He will definitely remember that I am his alpha father.” As he said that, he walked over.
“Don’t come here.” Shen Dai raised his head and stared at Qu Moyu with both hatred and fear in his eyes.
Qu Moyu looked at his omega and his child huddled in the corner. Shen Dai’s eyes were like a knife piercing through his heart. They were a family and should live happily under the same roof. But his wife and child were so resistant towards him. He doesn’t even have the qualifications to approach now?! He took a deep breath to relieve the tightness in his chest and he whispered, “Qiuqiu should adapt to me. He doesn’t need a substitute pheromone.”
“He never needed you.” Shen Dai raised his elbow slightly and turned the back of Qiuqiu’s head to him, preventing him from looking at Qu Moyu, “Go out.”
Seeing that Shen Dai’s spirit was stretched to the limit, Qu Moyu didn’t dare to say anything more. He watched the two of them silently for a while and only left a sentence “rest early” towards him. He then opened the door and left.
Shen Dai sat down on the sofa as if he was exhausted. He sat there for a long time before burying his face into Qiuqiu’s small chest and silently shed tears.

A lot more chapters to go… The final chapter is Chapter 132.
I’m sorry, I hope it’s okay to ask here, is this tl actually an MTL? I tried reading through the first chapters but coudn’t help but notice the poor tl and I had to stop reading eventually…. that’s why I really would like to know if “Winner Takes All” is an MTL also, as I haven’t read it yet. Thank you
PS. No rush please, it’s better to get a long awaited good tl than a poorly done rushed one :”)
Interesting that’s your perspective, I think it flows well. I like TL to keep the rythmn and phrasing of the original language.
It’s stuff like Gender being missed such as she said instead of he said when someone is speaking critical dialogue which absolutely drives me up the wall. I don’t find that in this story.
For Chinese idioms in particular, it makes me really sad when they are replaced with English European versions. The Chinese direct translations are often included in a translator note and they would work fine in the text mostly as they give such a sense of place and insight to another culture.
Yeah. I’d like to stay true to that too. It’s the culture of the language. It’s difficult sometime for people to comprehend. But I’ve already tried my best to explain in author’s notes and all. But it’s okay though. Not everyone will have the same taste in things. Life is colorful like that.
I’m sorry if my translation does not go well with you. I tried to simplify things in my translation. English is also not my first language and I admit some tenses are mixed up in my translation. There is another translation for this story as well so if you find their translation fits you better, you may go ahead and read them. My translation is edited MTL. I think I have to jump off a building if I have to translate from scratch. I’m not that excellent. Hahaha. I’m trying my best to meet up my own dateline for my own translation. Some people might not liked it as it feels rushed but as a reader myself of other translation, I prefer to read the ones that are fast rather than slow. This is after all done for free and only at my own free time so for me, I don’t mind if it’s not excellent. And I’m okay with your criticism as well. Thank you. ‘Winner Takes All’ is also edited MTL by me. You may read that if you want but if you don’t want to, it’s fine also. It’s your choice.
Caught up finally!!!
I wanna kick him in the nuts for what he did. This is beyond being cheap!!! I know some peeps who had done the same thing just so they can get what they want and the way author made it is putting it lightly.
Glad that Ah Dai got physical but it’s not enough. Will the Bastard get beaten in future chaps tho? I wanna see him bleed….and in deep wretched state..*hides inner demon*
Oh yeah he will bleed….teehehehehe
Huge pet peeve… when the author keeps talking about how intelligent a character is, yet actions and behavior clearly display the character as being incredibly stupid. Shen Dai has no brain, not to mention incredibly poor instinctive judgement.
Are you serious? Or trolling? I also don’t think you understand ABO dynamics and internal instincts that mess with the human brain. The author describes it all the time how it affects both characters and affects how parents even raise children. If this wasn’t ABO I still think people are usually stupid when it comes to love, it usually clouds judgement in even normal average people.
Also have you ever heard of “book smarts” and “street smarts”? Some people can be incredibly intelligent people but stupid naive ignorant when it comes to dealing with real life stuff and people.
With all that said I don’t even understand why you think Shen Dai has no brain.
This is probably the most cried I ever did reading 188 novels lol. Shen Dai is so pitiful, poor baby.
