AITFYMIBP Chapter 82

The Little Rabbit and the Big Bad Wolf

TL: Hua

The hallway in the room was very narrow, only allowing one person to pass at a time.

Gao Zitai led the way; after taking just two steps with his back hunched, he nearly bumped into a suitcase on the floor.

Afraid of waking the sleeping people, he turned to the staff behind him and said, “I’ll go in first.”

He took the lead with the camera. The staff member carrying the heavy camera couldn’t move easily, so they stayed put, waiting for Gao Zitai to get into position before entering.

Gao Zitai moved forward with a grin. Just as he was thinking about how to film Lin Yanran, he was stunned by the sight before him.

His brother was sleeping with Gu Siye!!

No, no—they were hugging!!

No, that’s not it either—they were cuddling while asleep!!

Seeing this, Gao Zitai’s mind felt like it was exploding with fireworks.

His brother Yanran—who in his mind was invincible and could conquer heaven and earth—was currently leaning into Gu Siye’s embrace with a degree of docility he had never seen before. Meanwhile, the other man had his arm around Yanran’s shoulder…

Actually, there was nothing wrong with brothers cuddling while sleeping; he and Song Zixuan had done it plenty of times.

But… they weren’t hugging this ambiguously or this tightly…

The main thing was, damn it, Gu Siye’s lips were practically pressed against his brother’s face??

From his angle, it looked like they were about to kiss…

For some reason, as Gao Zitai watched this scene, his face turned bright red in an instant.

In the next second, before his brain could even react, he looked at the staff member about to enter, and his heart raced with anxiety.

If the production team caught this on camera and broadcast it, it would be a disaster!

Something clicked in Gao Zitai’s brain; he immediately jogged back and shoved out the staff member who was about to squeeze in.

Staff: ?

“What’s wrong, Zitai?”

The production team had lights, and as they shone on Gao Zitai, they saw his face was pale, wearing a look of sheer terror.

Holy crap, did he see some R-rated scene? Sleeping naked? Kissing? Or…

While the staff members were exchanging excited glances, they heard Gao Zitai say in a trembling voice, “Why didn’t you guys tell me Teacher Gu was sleeping in there too? I just saw him, and it scared the life out of me…”

Once the staff figured out the reason for his shock, they all looked like they’d just been cheated.

That’s it? That’s it?? He didn’t see anything “inappropriate”???

Seeing Gao Zitai lock the door after stepping out, a staff member said helplessly, “They were in the same room to begin with.”

Gao Zitai raised his voice slightly to emphasize, “I was groggy from sleep and forgot!”

Then he waved his hands frantically. “No way, I don’t dare film Teacher Gu. If you want to go, go yourselves.”

Gao Zitai’s words caused quite a commotion.

Gu Siye, who had only just fallen asleep, heard the noise immediately.

He had just opened his eyes when he felt the person in his arms move.

Lin Yanran had woken up too.

The expected blast of cold air didn’t happen; he felt warm all over, especially his exposed face, which didn’t have that icy sensation.

After his eyes adjusted to the darkness for a few seconds, he regained some clarity.

Then, he realized he was nestled entirely within a heat source.

To be precise, he was nestled in someone’s arms…

Once Lin Yanran’s brain processed who this person was, he was so frightened that he became completely sober.

He tried to move his hand, only to find it resting on Gu Siye’s waist. Through the thin pajama fabric, he could clearly feel the texture of the other man’s abs.

And what was even more fatal was his right leg—it was currently draped bare between the other man’s thighs.

This position was warm, sure, but if it were just a tiny bit higher…

Lin Yanran froze completely, his limbs suddenly having no idea where to go.

He suddenly remembered the dream he’d had last night. So, it wasn’t that he had found a body pillow; it was that he had treated Gu Siye like one and spent the night burrowing into his arms?

Realizing the sheer awkwardness of what he’d done, Lin Yanran’s face instantly began to burn.

Was I always this restless when I slept…

Did I cause Brother Gu a lot of trouble…?

He didn’t have time to dwell on it. His only goal now was to retract his arms and legs without waking Gu Siye.

At the door, Gao Zitai’s voice was getting louder.

“If you guys want to go in, go ahead. I’m not going back in.”

Hearing these snippets of conversation, the now-alert Lin Yanran understood what the production team was up to.

He hurriedly put some distance between himself and Gu Siye, gently pulling back the hand that had been resting on the other man’s chest and abdomen.

Just as he was worrying about how to retrieve his stray leg, he heard the bedroom door open again.

Lin Yanran, who never used foul language, now just wanted to scream a silent “Holy crap!”

Compared to waking Gu Siye, being caught on camera sleeping in this position felt far more humiliating…

Tensing his fingers, he was just about to yank his leg back when Gu Siye suddenly rolled over to the other side.

The space between them opened up naturally.

Phew…

Gu Siye, who had been pretending to sleep with his eyes closed, heard that soft sigh of relief. Suppressing the urge to smile, he put on his best just-woke-up act and asked, “Who’s at the door?”

The staff members, who had been trying to convince Gao Zitai to go back in, were stunned.

Teacher Gu was awake!

Gao Zitai, who had been stalling for time, felt the heavy stone in his heart finally drop.

“They seem to be awake…” He gave a relieved laugh and rubbed the back of his head. “Shall we just go in then?”

After Gao Zitai finished speaking, he went inside first.

The staff followed, looking at his back with expressions that said they were completely baffled.

Now that you’ve actually woken them up, you’re not scared anymore??

Because they hadn’t seen the earlier image of the two cuddling, they truly believed Gao Zitai’s nonsense about being intimidated by Gu Siye.

This time, the scene Gao Zitai walked into was perfectly harmonious.

Gu Siye was leaning against the wall, and Lin Yanran had sat up.

“Good morning, you two!”

Gao Zitai flipped on the light. As soon as he said it, he saw Gu Siye reach over to Lin Yanran’s waist. The blanket had slipped, barely covering his underwear, but Gu Siye pulled it up firmly to cover Lin Yanran’s shoulders, bundling him up tight.

In the past, Gao Zitai wouldn’t have thought twice about this.

In the past, Gao Zitai would not have thought there was anything wrong with this action; on the contrary, he would have thought that Teacher Gu was thoughtful.

But now, having heard Gu Siye call Yanran “Wife” and having witnessed them sleeping in such an intimate embrace, he felt like he was being force-fed dog food at every turn.

No way… are these two actually dating?!

Gao Zitai’s mind was a battlefield of suspicion, but he couldn’t say a word. He had to endure it.

And when he saw the camera coming, he felt obligated to cover up the whole thing for his brother.

He sat down right next to Lin Yanran, threw an arm around his shoulder, and pretended he was the one tucking him in. He shouted, “Keep covered, keep covered! It’s cold; don’t catch a cold!”

Lin Yanran winced slightly at the volume, giving Gao Zitai a questioning look.

Why are you being so loud?

The production team, who had come in hoping for a big reveal, found the scene of two fully awake men quite disappointing.

However, since they were there, the PD pulled out a wheel.

“Since both teachers are awake, please draw your first task of the day.”

The PD held the spinning wheel relatively close to Lin Yanran.

After speaking, the other party even tossed the spinning wheel towards him.

Lin Yanran was about to reach for the wheel when Gu Siye stood up.

As he reached for it, Gu Siye’s other hand gently pressed down on Lin Yanran’s leg, signaling him not to move.

Lin Yanran realized with a start that Gu Siye was subtly reminding him that he wasn’t wearing his thermal pants under the covers.

With so many cameras in the room, it would be easy to have a wardrobe malfunction from the wrong angle.

Although he had recently taken on quite a few variety show appearances, his experience was still far inferior to Gu Siye’s.

While Lin Yanran was distracted for a few seconds, the results of Gu Siye’s spinning wheel task also came out.

“Puppet Breakfast?”

Gu Siye looked at the staff. “What’s that?”

“We need the two of you to wear mascot suits and go out to buy breakfast for all the guests.”

This task doesn’t sound too difficult.

Lin Yanran, who hadn’t said much until now, finally got into character and asked, “Now? Are there any other requirements?”

“The two teachers need to buy breakfast before 8 o’clock. You cannot take off your headgear or talk to the shop assistants or other passersby.”

Upon hearing the rule, Gao Zitai couldn’t help but exclaim, “Does that mean they have to be mute?!”

After receiving the task, the production team gave them fifteen minutes to wash up.

Once everyone had left, Lin Yanran finally let out a soft sigh of relief.

Thank goodness they had woken up when they did. Otherwise, they probably wouldn’t be able to complete the task now.

After washing up, they went out to collect their suits: a rabbit and a grey wolf.

Once Lin Yanran got into his rabbit suit, he looked over at Gu Siye.

Even a bulky, clumsy mascot suit looked good on a man with a natural model’s physique; he looked like the most handsome wolf in the pack.

“Teacher Gu, you should update your Weibo.”

Gu Siye looked at Lin Yanran, puzzled.

Lin Yanran said, mimicking a camera shutter with his hands. “A nine-grid post.”

Yingying reminded him about the nine-grid photo collage yesterday.

While reminding him to post nine-grid photos to his fans from time to time, she also casually mentioned that Teacher Gu hadn’t updated his photos in a while.

Seeing him dressed as a mascot today, he suddenly recalled Yingying’s words.

Gu Siye understood the hint. He grabbed his phone and walked over to Lin Yanran.

“I can’t be the only one in the shot.”

He rested his hand lightly on Lin Yanran’s waist and held the phone up, snapping a photo of the two animal heads together. “Since we’re a team today, we’re taking it together.”

After taking the photos, Gu Siye didn’t post to Weibo. Instead, he and Lin Yanran pushed open the door and headed outside together.

It was only 6:30 AM, and it was still pitch black outside.

A biting morning wind gusted past, making the staff members behind them—wrapped in down jackets—shiver uncontrollably.

However, Lin Yanran, who was usually the most sensitive to the cold, felt quite comfortable.

The mascot suit acted as a shield against the wind and chill.

Not only that, but the headpiece protected his face perfectly; it was airtight and cozy.

Before leaving, Lin Yanran and Gu Siye had discussed their plan. They had a lot to buy, and if they bought the hot food first, it would be cold by the time they got back.

So, they decided to start by purchasing the milk everyone had requested.

They made finding a supermarket their first objective.

After stepping out of the homestay, Lin Yanran jogged ahead a short distance, only to realize Gu Siye hadn’t kept up.

He turned back and saw Gu Siye moving slowly, nearly walking straight into the homestay’s wooden door.

Sensing something was wrong, Lin Yanran hurried back. “What’s wrong, Teach Gu?”

The man’s voice, muffled by the costume, came from within. “It’s nothing.”

Lin Yanran didn’t say anything but intentionally stepped behind Gu Siye.

Then he noticed that the other person was having difficulty walking and hadn’t even seen a small stone block in front of him, almost bumping into it.

Lin Yanran immediately grabbed his arm. “Teach Gu, can you not see the road?”

The other man didn’t answer immediately. After a few seconds, he admitted, “Yeah. It’s a bit hard to see out of this costume.”

Lin Yanran hurried to the front of Gu Siye to inspect the eyeholes.

He discovered that the reason Gu Siye couldn’t see was… he was too tall! The eye slits for visibility were level with the bridge of his nose.

No wonder he was struggling.

“I guess being tall isn’t always a good thing…”

Gu Siye only gave a low, soft chuckle in response. Then, he urged Lin Yanran, “Let’s go; we’ll run out of time.”

“You can’t walk like this, though.”

Gu Siye leaned over and grabbed Lin Yanran’s short rabbit tail. “I can just hold onto your tail and walk.”

“Alright then.”

Lin Yanran slowed his pace and led the way, but he soon discovered the other man still bumped into a wall at a corner.

Hearing a loud thud, Lin Yanran stopped.

He pulled off his oversized mascot gloves and, in the freezing air, reached out his hand toward Gu Siye. “Teacher Gu, let me lead you by the hand.”

Inside the costume, the corners of the man’s mouth curled up slightly. Hiding the smile in his voice, he slowly agreed.

And so, in the production team’s cameras: A cute little white rabbit extended a friendly left hand to tightly grasp the right hand of a scheming big grey wolf. Side by side, they walked together into the night.
