A gentleman must dress properly in front of others. Even if there was only Ji Yujin, he couldn’t be completely calm either.
He just felt… that he had never been so rude before.
The first few times he came to soak in the hot spring, it was mostly due to health reasons, so Ji Yujin never went into the water. He was always busy with official duties on the side and would come over to pull him out when the time was up.
The water in the hot spring was not deep, which was why Ji Yujin could rest assured that he could soak there alone. But now the shallowness of the water has become a big problem. Although he had hidden himself, but he could still see everything if he got closer.
At first he still had a glimmer of hope, thinking that at least Ji Yujin would not go into the water.
But when he heard footsteps, he was stunned as he looked up. Ji Yujin was not wearing clothes, and his black hair was smooth and casually fell in front of him. Unlike him, Ji Yujin’s skin color was darker than his, and there were scars of various sizes on his body, some of which were several inches long. His back was straight and broad, and his muscles were clear, tight, and strong—a standard inverted triangle.
Chu Fengqing glanced once before looking away, his lowered lashes partially hiding the emotions in his eyes.
Ji Yujin walked neither fast nor slow and every step seemed to be stepping on Chu Fengqing’s eardrum. He didn’t know what was wrong with him but every time he took a step closer, he felt his heartbeat quickening. In the end, he could only blame this abnormality on his own embarrassment.
When the sound of water rang in his ears, Chu Fengqing pursed his lips and dove down half an inch without making a sound, until the water reached his chin.
As Ji Yujin approached, he hadn’t noticed Chu Fengqing’s current state yet, his view blocked by his Chu Fengqing’s hair. He just said, “Is it more comfortable than at home?”
He was very close, and the two of them were facing each other. When Ji Yujin moved slightly, the water around them was also moved by him, and ripples appeared.
Chu Fengqing: “……”
“Not comfortable.” Chu Fengqing said softly, “You soak, I… will go out first.”
Even though he said that, but he didn’t move because he didn’t know how to get up. The pants he was wearing were summer pants, and if he got up…
Chu Fengqing frowned, feeling extremely embarrassed.
Ji Yujin only caught a few words: “Uncomfortable? Are you feeling unwell?”
As he spoke, he began to step forward to check. Chu Fengqing, unable to avoid him, panicked and instinctively stood up, taking a step back as he approached.
When he stood up, the water reached his thighs, and nothing could be hidden anymore.
……
“Splash”, Water splashed into Ji Yujin’s face, making him turn instinctively, but his hand shot out with precision, grabbing Chu Fengqing’s arm and stopping him from escaping.
In just a split second, Chu Fengqing missed the chance to escape and couldn’t leave. He met Ji Yujin’s fox-like eyes, which obviously shrank. It was obvious that they hadn’t expected such a scene to be hidden under the water. Both of them were speechless for a while.
The wet clothes stuck to his body outlining the curve of his waist. Chu Fengqing’s clear and shallow eyes seemed to be moistened by the warm steam with his black hair hung on his snow-white neck. His lips, usually paler than most, were now flushed red, contrasting with his white teeth, like a spring morning. He radiated elegance and an otherworldly air, a harmony of contradictions within him.
The further he looked down, Ji Yujin’s eyes became darker and darker. Chu Fengqing noticed his gaze, and his drooping eyelashes trembled slightly. He looked at him and gritted his teeth and said, “You–close your eyes.”
The word “close your eyes” reminded Ji Yujin of the word “presumptuous” when they first met. At that time, he really had the intention of teasing him, and he never expected that he would love him so much today.
Ji Yujin curled his lips and smiled, “What if I don’t close my eyes? I’m not wearing any clothes either, yet you are. You looked at me, yet won’t let me look at you.”
“Physician Chu, you are too stingy.”
Chu Fengqing was stunned for a moment as if he didn’t expect him to be so shameless.
The sound of water rang in his ears again. Ji Yujin moved closer to Chu Fengqing. He didn’t know how to face him. He lowered his eyes and saw his own clothes. The back of his snow-white neck suddenly turned red. What was the difference between this and not wearing anything?
Ji Yujin’s gaze burned as if it were alive. Chu Fengqing couldn’t bear it and said, “Ji Yujin, stop staring.”
Ji Yujin: “Beg me.”
Chu Fengqing hesitated for a moment before saying, “I’m begging you, don’t look.”
Even while pleading, he maintained his cool, cold expression, and his tone remained serious as he spoke. How could one beg people like this? But Ji Yujin felt that his way was much better than those clingy begging ways, and he didn’t know what to do.
He chuckled and placed a kiss on Chu Fengqing’s neck while putting his arms around his waist. Noticing the person in his arms trembling slightly, he paused and said in a hoarse voice, “I haven’t finished what I’m saying yet. What I want to say is that even if you beg me, I won’t give in either.”
Chu Fengqing frowned, trying to break free but failing, and only said, “You did it on purpose.”
He deliberately breathed so heavily when speaking.
Ji Yujin did not deny it and said, “This is not called doing on purpose, this is called flirting.”
Chu Fengqing was rendered speechless by his two words, and a thin layer of red appeared on his delicate face, like ice and snow just melting.
Chu Fengqing was pulled towards him and fell into his arms. His hands subconsciously rested on Ji Yujin’s shoulders. He was not wearing any clothes, and when his palms touched his skin, it seemed to be burned. Just when he was about to lift them up, his lips were kissed again. He no longer had the energy to care about anything else.
After the kiss, both of them breathed faster. Chu Fengqing could only feel his heartbeat hitting his eardrums so violently and fast that he could hardly bear it.
Ji Yujin leaned his forehead against his and smiled, “The heart is beating so fast.”
Chu Fengqing felt a little embarrassed, but Ji Yujin shook his head. “I was talking about myself.”
He guided Chu Fengqing’s hand to his chest over and over again, both forcefully and quickly. Chu Fengqing pursed his lips, it turned out that he was not the only one who felt this way.
Ji Yujin held his hand and did not let go, he continued to move it downwards until his hand touched a hard object.
Chu Fengqing’s pupils shrank and it felt as if something heavy had landed beside his ears. A crack appeared on his usually calm expression. “You… you are not a eunuch!”
It’s not that he didn’t notice any clues after living together for so long but he had never thought about it in that direction. The Governor of the Xichang was not a eunuch, it was the crime of deceiving the emperor. If it was revealed, he would be guilty of a capital crime and punishable by death.
Ji Yujin curled his lips and said, “No, I originally wanted my father… wanted that man to have no children or grandchildren, but he refused and used every possible means to save my **. At that time, I was not as powerful as him, so this was what happened.”
“I didn’t think much of it before, but now I want to thank him. After all, I was young and ignorant back then.” When he said this, his eyes were always fixed on Chu Fengqing.
Chu Fengqing was jealous of him.
This was not the time for a long speech, so Ji Yujin explained it clearly in two sentences and said no more.
Chu Fengqing’s fingers recoiled. As he felt the object shift, a burning sensation spread through him. His eyelashes trembled slightly, and he wanted to withdraw his hand. “You, you let go first.”
Ji Yujin’s eyes turned red as he kissed his neck gently and chuckled, “We are both hot-blooded men, how can I let go at this time?”
As he spoke, he also put his other hand in an irregular place. Chu Fengqing’s eyes widened as he shouted, “Ji, Ji Yujin, you…”
“Let go.”
“Ah Jin, call me Ah Jin.”
At that moment, all nicknames, eunuch, and major matters were instantly forgotten.
……
Ji Yujin held Chu Fengqing, who was wrapped tightly in fox fur, in his arms after a long time. In the end, no substantial relationship happened between the two. The trip to the hot spring was not fully prepared and the hot spring was not a good place either. He was afraid of hurting Chu Fengqing.
After going down the mountain, Ji Yujin poured a cup of warm tea for Chu Fengqing. Chu Fengqing’s hands holding the cup felt sore. With a cold glance at Ji Yujin, he set the tea on the table, turned, and walked to the bedside without looking at him again.
Ji Yujin choked for a rare moment, drank the tea he had poured for Chu Fengqing and said in a half-flattering tone, “Physician Chu, don’t be angry, I didn’t mean to lie to you.”
“I wanted to tell you earlier, but I couldn’t find the right time. Then I learned that you were sick, how can I have the heart to think about it?”
The situation in the court was shifting rapidly and remained uncertain. Any action could trigger chaos, making this matter completely taboo and unmentionable.
Chu Fengqing gritted his teeth. He was not only angry at Ji Yujin for lying to him but also had a headache when he thought about the fact that he once wanted to learn some knowledge to satisfy Ji Yujin. He wondered why he would do such a stupid thing.
Ji Yujin came close to him and said, “It is true that I was not honest in this matter. I did not think it through.” So he told Chu Fengqing everything that happened at that time bit by bit. Chu Fengqing was actually no longer angry, but he did not know how to face Ji Yujin. Now, hearing about the suffering he had endured in those years, he was left with only heartache. The so-called overwhelming power was nothing more than a young man who had just come of age stepping on the edge of a knife and walking out a bloody path bit by bit.
If you are a man, who can tolerate being pointed at and called a damn eunuch?
The two leaned against each other. Chu Fengqing reached out and held Ji Yujin’s hand as the moonlight poured in through the window. They looked at each other, and Chu Fengqing pursed his lips and said, “It’s all in the past . From now on, just live your life as you please.”
Ji Yujin responded with a smile, turned around, and hugged the person in his arms.
Time passed quietly and the person in his arms began to breathe evenly. Ji Yujin placed a kiss on his forehead and whispered, “Why are you so soft-hearted? I’ll have to keep an eye on you from now on.”
Chu Fengqing always believed he concealed it well, but his eyes could never lie, and he had never truly been cold-hearted.
The moon was high in the sky with the two of them sleeping in each other’s arms.
A few more days passed after that day.
Chu Fengqing woke up earlier than Ji Yujin that day. Yesterday, he turned over in his sleep at some point and had his back to Ji Yujin.
Ji Yujin put his hands on his waist and still held him in his arms.
Chu Fengqing stirred in his sleep, trying to slip out of his arms, but before he could move, the hand on his waist tightened, pulling him closer.
Ji Yujin: “Be good, sleep a little longer.”
Chu Fengqing glanced outside and saw that the sky was bright. He said softly, “It’s already dawn…”
Before he could finish his words, his expression changed. That hard object behind him was very obvious. He had thought it was a jade pendant before, but he would no longer misunderstand it now.
Because for the past few days, this was the view he sees every morning when he wakes up.
However, no matter how many times he faced it, Chu Fengqing was still at a loss and even a little panicked.
“Ji Yujin, you…”
Ji Yujin pulled the quilt over their heads, and only a voice came from inside, “I am in prime and full of vigor and vitality.”
As the bedding rubbed, the scent gradually changed. Chu Fengqing’s eyes turned slightly red, perhaps even he himself had not noticed that there was a hint of pleading in his voice, “Like usual, alright?”
Ji Yujin took out a bottle of cream from somewhere, obviously prepared for it. He propped up his hands and rolled up his sleeves to reveal half of his arms. His arm muscles were smooth, tight, and strong. He said, “Shall we try something different today?”
Chu Fengqing stared at the bottle in his hand. The bottle was small and exquisite, with a red plum painted on it. No matter how stupid he was, he knew what that thing was and the corners of his eyes became even redder.
It’s not that he didn’t want to, but there was still a barrier. He had previously thought that Ji Yujin was a eunuch, so this barrier never exists. If he was an ordinary man…
Chu Fengqing put his hands on Ji Yujin’s shoulders, looked up into Ji Yujin’s eyes, and his voice was only slightly softer than usual. “Ji Yujin, I’m not a woman. I’m a man, a real man.”
He stared at Ji Yujin’s eyes. If there was any awkwardness or discomfort in his eyes, he would push him away immediately.
But there wasn’t.
Ji Yujin’s red lips curled slightly, his voice was hoarse but his tone was as frivolous as ever. “What a coincidence, I’m not a eunuch either, I’m a real man.”
He said as he placed another kiss on the side of his neck, his preferred spot.
“We really are a match made in heaven.”
Chu Fengqing lowered his eyes as they slowly softened and he hooked his hands around Ji Yujin’s neck the next moment.
Ji Yujin was stunned for a moment and then he became ecstatic.
The frost outside hadn’t yet melted, and as the spring sun rose, the rooftops were white, and even the grass was coated in frost.
Chu Fengqing whispered, “Stop.”
Ji Yujin: “Then beg me again, and I will listen to you.”
Chu Fengqing looked at him with wet eyes, the corners of his eyes were already red, he seemed a little doubtful but finally compromised. He thought about the power of the “Gege” he had called him a few days ago, thought for a while, and uttered a word with his red lips slightly opened: “Fujun1It means husband, but I think Fujun sounds better than husband when calling xD.”
Ji Yujin’s heart skipped a beat, his eyes reddening. His fox-like gaze narrowed slightly, and his black hair brushed against Chu Fengqing’s collarbone as he shifted. He smiled softly and said with his lips against his collarbone, “Silly Qing’er, at this time, this is not called begging for mercy, but flirting.”
“Liar…”
The sound is no longer sound, and the tune no longer tunes.
The temperature in the room was getting higher and higher as the whole room was filled with the scent of red plum blossoms. The red plum blossoms slowly bloomed in the snow, and the snow finally melted.
The sun shone all day long and quietly set in the evening. Chu Fengqing sat on Ji Yujin’s lap, his wet hair indicating that it had just been washed. The two of them sat at the table while Ji Yujin fed him hot porridge.
Chu Fengqing frowned, looking very uncomfortable sitting like this. In contrast, Ji Yujin’s eyes were full of satisfaction.
Ji Yujin stretched out his hand and massaged his waist while Chu Fengqing felt relaxed and just let him do it.
Then Ji Yujin dried his wet hair with a charcoal basin and then let him return to the bed. The bedsheets were replaced with a new set. Chu Fengqing’s eyes were still adorned with red. When he returned to the bed and thought of this absurd day, a thin layer of red slowly spread over his snow-white neck.
At the same time, he was also very tired. He had just forced himself to be alert when drinking the porridge and now his eyes were almost closed again. The instigator glanced at the bed, and then walked over with something in his hand.
Ji Yujin was wearing a red robe and his black hair and red robe made him look very flamboyant. He held Chu Fengqing’s foot, which he was about to withdraw and rubbed his snow-white ankle with his fingers. “Why don’t you wear socks? If you catch a cold later, I won’t be able to live anymore.”
He let Chu Fengqing step on his knees and gently helped him put on his socks. Chu Fengqing frowned slightly but did not break free from his hand at all. He did not look at Ji Yujin and just slightly tilted his head, yet his earlobe was quietly flushed red.
As spring turned to summer, after Ji Yujin submitted his memorial for the 36th time, the new emperor finally sent someone to take over Yancheng.
Li Yu was sitting on a maroon horse along with Zhao Li and Qing Niao. They were all looking at Ji Yujin and Chu Fengqing who were standing not far away.
Li Yu: “Dog Ji, remember to bring Brother Chu to the capital to see us. It doesn’t matter if you come or not, but Brother Chu must come.”
Ji Yujin “tsk” and said, “You wish. Is it that the scenery beyond the Great Wall is lacking or the wine from south of the Yangtze is inferior? What’s the point of seeing you lot?”
Li Yu: “You don’t have any sense of loyalty at all!”
The two argued fiercely. Li Yu couldn’t match Ji Yujin and was about to leap from his horse as their quarrel escalated from words to action.
Fortunately, Chu Fengqing spoke up at this time. “The journey is long, so you guys should set off early. We will definitely go to the capital.”
Li Yu finally let go as he sat on the horse and everyone suddenly fell silent. The horse had been staying in the same place for too long and couldn’t stand it anymore so it snorted.
Ji Yujin reached out and patted the horse, “Go.”
Qing Niao and Zhao Li bowed to the two of them while on horseback, and Li Yu glanced at them as he said, “Goodbye.”
The few of them left in such a hurry, they didn’t drink together or talk all night long and just said “goodbye” in a plain manner.
Chu Fengqing looked at their backs and said softly, “If Li Yu doesn’t like the official career, why does he want to join the government?”
Ji Yujin: “Now the glory of the entire Li family is on him. He has a heavy burden on his shoulders and can no longer care about his hobbies. But there is no need to worry too much either. He just has a bit of a childish temperament, but he is not an easy person. He has ambitions and will always have a career. Qing Niao and Zhao Li’s assistance can also make him feel a lot more relaxed.”
Chu Fengqing glanced at him and asked, “What about you? Do you still want to return to the court?”
Ji Yujin shook his head. “I’m tired of it. At least not now. Who can predict the future?”
He reached out and took Chu Fengqing’s hand and said calmly, “Now I just want to go west with you to see the desert smoke, and go south to see the setting sun and the lonely wild birds.”
Chu Fengqing curved his eyes and said, “It sounds really wonderful. I want to set off right away.”
Ji Yujin raised his eyebrows and looked at the carriage in the yard. That was the carriage that had been given to Chu Fengqing before. The windows of the carriage were made of a whole piece of colored glaze.
He smiled and said in a lazy and carefree tone, “Then let’s go. The sun hasn’t set, the summer is still warm, and our pockets are full. We’re young, so why not?”
Chu Fengqing looked at him, and they smiled at each other. Chu Fengqing then said, “Alright, let’s go then.”
The author has something to say:

I’m really wondering… all that time that Ji Yujin was stabbed and comatose… was he just left to stew in his own bodily waste? As I recall, it said that Chu Fengqing never left him during that time, and since he’s supposed to be a doctor he should be familiar with cleaning a patient who isn’t able to take care of himself. Pretty sure there’s no way to NOT notice rather obvious body parts being present that an eunuch wouldn’t have, if he were properly caring for the invalid. If Chu wasn’t cleaning him up and taking care of him… then who was? I suppose necessary bodily functions, and the fact that when you’re in a coma you’re incontinent, isn’t supposed to exist in fiction.
Thank you very much for translating this wonderful story. Really missed theirs lovey dovey ways. Poor Li Yu.Hipe he finds hus sweet romance too. Thank you
