Chapter 059 Sea King – “ “This is a true masterpiece!” ” (05/20)
Seven hours…?
Qiao Qimo was stunned.
He wasn’t in the Mecha Department. How could he possibly spend seven hours in the training room?
He’d challenged himself to five-hour sessions before, but seven hours? He’d never even considered it!
But…Shi Jingge had said it himself!
But looking at the other’s proud and confident face, how could Qiao Qimo bring himself to say no?
So, after a few seconds of silence, Qiao Qimo nodded. “Just seven hours? Piece of cake!”
Shi Jingge tilted his head and replied with a smile, “Seven hours is a piece of cake?”
“Absolutely,” Qiao Qimo said with great confidence. “Even eight hours would be no problem! ”
“Then let’s make it eight,” Qiu Yuanjiu quickly chimed in. “Senior Qiao, show us what you’ve got. We appreciate it.”
Qiao Qimo: “……”
How could he back down when he just said that he could, even if it wasn’t true?
However, Qiao Qimo made a point of giving Qiu Yuanjiu an extra glance and jotting him down in his little notebook.
Sooner or later, he’d settle the score with Qiu Yuanjiu!
So the three of them entered the training room, setting their sessions for three, five, and eight hours, respectively.
Shi Jingge set an alarm, then went about his business, even making a special trip back to the dorm to prepare some rose tea for Qiao Qimo.
Three hours later, Qiu Yuanjiu emerged and collapsed right onto Shi Jingge as soon as he stepped out; he truly didn’t even have the strength to stand up.
Shi Jingge handed Qiu Yuanjiu a thermos. “It’s fresh. I just made it.”
Qiu Yuanjiu tried to raise his hand to take it, but he had absolutely no strength left; he couldn’t even manage to say “thank you.”
His lips quivered for a while, but he couldn’t utter a single syllable.
Shi Jingge easily opened the lid, lifted the thermos, and steadily tipped it back, letting the rose tea flow into Qiu Yuanjiu’s mouth little by little.
Qiu Yuanjiu was so moved that tears welled up in his eyes.
How could Shi Jingge be so kind…? Waaah!
Today’s rose tea seemed a little different.
In addition to its refreshing fragrance, there was a hint of sweetness. As he sipped it, that subtle sweetness seemed to envelop his mind, allowing his taut mental energy to relax bit by bit.
Three hours in the training room had been nothing short of a life-or-death struggle for Qiu Yuanjiu.
He didn’t even know how he’d managed to crawl out of there.
But leaning against Shi Jingge and accepting the hand-fed rose tea from him, he felt it had all been worth it.
Shi Jingge was so gentle.
It was actually quite funny when he thought about it; the warmth of familial bonds he’d always dreamed of was something he ended up finding in Shi Jingge.
Qiu Yuanjiu couldn’t help but lean closer to Shi Jingge, taking a deep breath as he felt his strength gradually returning.
He just wanted to stay nestled against Shi Jingge; he didn’t want to move at all.
Shi Jingge was really perfect in every way.
If only Qiu Yuanjiu didn’t have such a big ego, it would be even better. Then he could indulge in his laziness with a clear conscience.
But he couldn’t.
Shi Jingge believed in him so much. How could he possibly let him down?
Even if it was just a few minutes of warmth, Qiu Yuanjiu couldn’t bear to let it go.
Shi Jingge walked Qiu Yuanjiu back to his dorm, and his roommates once again saw a sweat-drenched Qiu Yuanjiu return, accompanied by a delicate fragrance mingled with some sweetness.
The lid on the thermos in Qiu Yuanjiu’s hand wasn’t sealed tightly, and the scent wafted out of it.
The roommates all turned their gaze to Qiu Yuanjiu’s cup, their eyes burning with curiosity.
Qiu Yuanjiu instinctively straightened up, gave a haughty snort, and carried the thermos into his room.
The three roommates exchanged looks of regret. Even if they couldn’t drink it, just smelling it would have been nice.
That scent was even more fragrant and delightful!
Amid their disappointment, their eyes met, and for a moment, everyone froze.
Three seconds later, they all calmly changed the subject. But it didn’t take long before Ying Changyuan say, “Senior Shi must have made that. It feels like he’s tweaked the recipe; this scent is even better than yesterday’s.”
The other roommates froze for a moment. “Right—didn’t Qiu Yuanjiu say yesterday that he was going on a date with Senior Shi? He spent ages picking out clothes, and even though he ended up going to the study room, some students saw Senior Shi walk him home, so they must’ve been together then.”
“If Senior Shi came up with this, then it’s definitely top-notch!” Ying Changyuan was getting a little excited. “Senior Shi is awesome!”
“So do any of you have his contact info? We could buy some from him!”
“I actually don’t. What about you guys?”
“Nope.”
The three roommates exchanged glances and let out a pained groan.
Did that mean they’d have to ask Qiu Yuanjiu for Shi Jingge’s contact info?
They didn’t know if Qiu Yuanjiu would give it to them, but he’d definitely make fun of them. He absolutely would!
After Shi Jingge dropped off Qiu Yuanjiu, it was almost time for Mu Qingyun to return. Shi Jingge quickly turned back.
Mu Qingyun wasn’t in much better shape than Qiu Yuanjiu; he could barely manage to drink some tea on his own, and after finishing, he could only barely manage to say, “Thank you.”
However, compared to Qiu Yuanjiu, Mu Qingyun was in much better shape. As soon as he drank the rose tea, he felt much more at ease, especially in his spiritual sea.
It was as if a gentle force were constantly soothing it; even his spiritual energy seemed to be under some kind of spell, gradually relaxing bit by bit.
Even the pain near his temples gradually subsided.
“…Three-Star Flower nectar?” Mu Qingyun asked instinctively.
“Yes.” Shi Jingge nodded. “Have you had it before?”
“I’ve tasted a tiny bit; my thesis is on it, after all,” Mu Qingyun said with an embarrassed smile. “But the nectar doesn’t contain any energy. No formula requires it, which is why the Three-Star Flower is considered the most useless of the low-tier spirit flowers; after all, if even the nectar lacks energy, what about the petals, leaves, roots, and stems? But here… I seem to sense that… the Three-Star Flower’s nectar does contain energy!
“Is this a discovery you made yourself, Brother Shi?” Mu Qingyun looked at Shi Jingge with intense eyes. “Did Brother Shi figure out the nectar’s properties on your own? No wonder you were so quick to find the materials for me this afternoon. Have you also studied the Three-Star Flower, Brother Shi? Could it be that you—”
Before Mu Qingyun could finish, Shi Jingge interrupted him sheepishly, “Actually, it’s because the Three-Star Flower’s nectar is relatively inexpensive.”
The excitement on Mu Qingyun’s face froze instantly. “Huh?”
Inexpensive?
Would someone like Shi Jingge actually consider price?
“Right,” Shi Jingge confirmed. “I just thought adding a touch of sweetness would make the flavor better. All the other nectars are too expensive. Only the Three-Star Flower’s nectar has a relatively mild flavor and a reasonable price, so I just added a little.”
Mu Qingyun was silent for quite a while. “It’s fine. Even though it was an accidental discovery, Brother Shi still uncovered something unique about the Three-Star Flower’s nectar and figured out how to process it!”
A fire lit up in Mu Qingyun’s eyes. “Brother Shi discovered all of this! He’s opened up a whole new understanding of the Three-Star Flower in the pharmaceutical world! Mentor Lin has been paying close attention to it all these years and has been researching it, but the path of research has been quite difficult. Mentor Lin is definitely going to be thrilled by Brother Shi’s discovery!”
Mu Qingyun’s voice grew increasingly impassioned. In that moment, he forgot the agony of those five hours in the training room and how unsteady he’d been when he crawled out. He simply felt an endless surge of energy coursing through his entire body!
He was about to witness Shi Jingge set sail and become a rising star in the alchemy world!
Shi Jingge walked him all the way back. Even when they reached Mu Qingyun’s dorm, Mu Qingyun didn’t stop his excited rambling until Shi Jingge waved goodbye, and only then did he finally stop.
Back in his dorm, Mu Qingyun couldn’t resist sending a message to Professor Lin: [Professor Lin, the nectar of the Three-Star Flower contains energy. It just requires a different method to extract it. I have a friend who knows how to do it!]
In less than three seconds, Mu Qingyun received a response: [Where are you?]
Professor Lin, whose full name was Lin Yiwen, was a highly-respected professor at Kalandi College and a renowned high-level alchemist in the Federation. Originally, he had little interest in these low-level materials, but later, when an alchemist from a neighboring school discovered the unique properties of the “Wood Sprite Flower,” he became interested in other low-level spiritual flowers and herbs.
After examining each plant one by one, he discovered that the Three-Star Flower’s energy composition was quite intriguing. While a complete, living Three-Star Flower emitted a rich spiritual energy, once any part of it, especially its nectar, was extracted for potion-making, that energy became almost imperceptible.
Lin Yiwen was truly intrigued by this. Yet, despite working day and night on his research, he could only confirm that the Three-Star Flower’s energy was abundant. He was certain his research findings were sound, but he hadn’t managed to uncover a single meaningful result!
Now that someone had told him there was a way to extract the energy from the Three-Star Flower’s nectar, how could he not be thrilled?
He was absolutely ecstatic!
Lin Yiwen quickly put everything aside and rushed to Mu Qingyun’s dorm. The moment he saw Lin Yiwen, Mu Qingyun’s roommates were all stunned.
“P—Professor Lin!”
Mu Qingyun quickly handed him the rose tea that Shi Jingge had brewed for him. Lin Yiwen lowered his head to take a whiff; a glimmer of light suddenly flashed in his eyes. He took a sip, and his eyes grew even brighter, then he downed nearly half the cup in one gulp!
The delicate fragrance of roses, mingled with subtle sweetness, suddenly stirred a deep sense of happiness within him. The throbbing in his temples, which had been building up over several days, seemed to find ample relief, and even his mental energy no longer felt so strained.
This soothing power was practically a budget version of a calming potion!
When Mu Qingyun added more water after he finished, Lin Yiwen was even more astonished. He looked down and took another sip; the taste hadn’t changed much at all!
Not only that, but the effects hadn’t changed much either!
This—This wasn’t inferior quality at all!
If all it took was adding water, this would definitely be a godsend for the general public!
“Who developed this?” Lin Yiwen asked, his voice hoarse and his eyes brimming with awe. “This is truly the work of a genius! Whoever developed this is definitely a true genius! A genius! They’re bound to revolutionize the world of medicine!
“My team is missing one person. They’re the one I’ve been waiting for all along! What are the so-called geniuses at Siming Teji compared to them?”
Author’s Note:
Wen Xusheng: Thank you, thank you! So grateful—sending you a heart!
Wen Xusheng: I’ll make sure to lighten Mu Qingyun’s training load a bit.
Wen Xusheng: After all, it’s because of him that I was able to meet Xiao Ge. I guess that’s the pain of attending the school next door, hhhhhhhhh
Mu Qingyun: ……………………
