MHWFYYTMDF Chapter12

I'll Do It

Song Li was practically a half-disabled person at the moment. He could move his legs and arms, but his torso simply couldn’t bend; even the slightest twist still caused unbearable pain.

He half-reclined in bed to eat his lunch, and as soon as he finished, He Muyan had Auntie Chen come up to clear everything away.

This Auntie Chen’s cooking skills were excellent, and he had eaten to his heart’s content. There was only one downside, He Muyan had been present the entire time he was eating.

Granted, the man wasn’t so bored as to stare at him constantly, but his presence was simply too strong. Just by standing there, his aura completely filled the air, making it a truly high-pressure meal for Song Li.

Consequently, he hurriedly stuffed his stomach full, unable to care about minor details like potentially getting indigestion later at all.

To be honest, curling up in bed right after eating a full meal wasn’t very comfortable. For instance, he really wanted to let loose right now and let out a little burp, but he didn’t dare.

Because He Muyan was still lingering by the side, having never left.

He didn’t know why He Muyan wasn’t leaving either. Wasn’t his work supposed to be very busy? So how did he still have the mindset to stand here watching someone eat, and for the entire duration at that as well? Could it be that in his eyes, he was like a monkey at the zoo, and the scene of him feeding was highly ornamental?

He amused himself with his own imagination, and with that amusement, he failed to hold it in and suddenly let out a burp.

The incredibly loud kind.

Glancing subconsciously toward He Muyan beside him, the heat in his face suddenly rose rapidly.

He Muyan crossed his arms and asked him, “Do you need to go?”

Song Li blinked, “Go where?”

He Muyan tilted his head slightly, “You’ve slept for five hours since this morning without getting up once in between. Just now, you ate a bowl of rice, drank two bowls of soup, and had a bottle of carbonated soda. According to the normal physical metabolism rate of an adult male, you need to visit the restroom now.”

Listening to him explain the whole breakdown, Song Li’s expression gradually turned into utter shock.

What did he just hear? He Muyan had said so many words by rambling on about a whole bunch of things just to remind him that it was time to relieve himself.

He hadn’t misheard, right?!

He Muyan’s expression told him that he hadn’t misheard.

Song Li accepted reality and suppressed the shock in his heart, “I think… I don’t really feel like going right now.”

He Muyan looked at him, “I’ve said it before, you don’t have to be so formal with me.”

“I’m not being formal with you, I really…”

Song Li only managed to say half of his sentence because just at that moment, he suddenly felt his bladder send him an instruction.

He was mortified. Did this He Muyan know magic? He could actually predict other people’s physiological responses.

He Muyan had already walked over, bending down and making a gesture to help him up.

Since the man had already gone to such lengths, it would be ungrateful of him to refuse any further. Besides, whether it was because he ate too fast earlier or not, he really did need to use the restroom now.

Song Li was not a fussy person, and taking care of the call of nature was a matter of great importance. He stopped hesitating and reached up to wrap his arms around He Muyan’s neck. He Muyan placed an arm around his lower back, applied a little force, and lifted him up with ease.

It was a proper carry. Knowing that Song Li couldn’t use any strength in his waist, He Muyan supported his entire body weight by keeping one hand securely behind his lower back and the other scooped underneath his bottom.

He carried him wedged against his side just like a three-year-old toddler.

Song Li buried his face in He Muyan’s shoulder, so thoroughly ashamed he wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

For as long as he could remember, he had never been carried in such an embarrassing posture.

He Muyan brought him into the restroom. When he was set down, Song Li still felt a wave of aching pain in his waist.

Using one hand against the wall for support, he turned his head and said, “I can manage the rest myself.”

He Muyan looked at his awkward posture, “Don’t force yourself, I can…”

“I’m not forcing myself.” Terrified that the man might utter something along the lines of wanting to help him pull down his pants, Song Li scrambled to declare his stance, “I really can manage.”

Meeting his gaze, He Muyan nodded, “I’ll wait for you outside. Call me if it’s inconvenient.”

With that, he turned and walked out, even considerately bringing the door shut behind him as well.

Song Li let out a long sigh of relief and slowly sat down on the toilet.

His whole body felt like a rigid wooden plank, stiff and straight; the slightest exertion brought a sharp sting of pain.

Damn it, this is killing me.

Fortunately, his digestion was good, so even with the difficulty, it didn’t take too long. When he supported his waist and walked out, He Muyan was indeed still waiting outside.

Song Li offered him a smile, his face somewhat pale.

He Muyan frowned slightly before stepping forward to support him.

Song Li was carried right back to bed. He lay down obediently, not wanting to move even an inch further.

He Muyan glanced at the time, “Rest well, I’m heading downstairs.”

Song Li nodded, “I’ve troubled you for too long. Go on and get back to your work. I’m fine, I’ll be good after lying down for a while.”

He Muyan seemed a bit displeased, “You don’t need to be so formal with me like this.”

Song Li let out an “uh.” It was just a habit of his, and it wasn’t something he could change overnight.

After all, the two of them really weren’t that familiar with each other yet.

In order to prevent He Muyan from staying unhappy, Song Li had no choice but to offer a pleasing smile, “Okay, okay, I’ll keep that in mind from now on.”

He Muyan wasn’t particularly satisfied with his perfunctory response, but he didn’t say anything more.

Only when he had truly gone downstairs and Song Li was left all alone in the room did he finally dare to slowly let his guard down.

It wasn’t that he was a coward, but He Muyan’s aura was simply too powerful, and his demeanor was so old-fashioned and serious that it was truly difficult for anyone to relax when he was around.

To think he was actually five years older than the man… utterly useless.

However, his behavior today still caught Song Li quite by surprise. He had been too nervous just now to think much about it, but now that he was alone and quiet, skimming through everything that had happened, he realized that He Muyan was actually quite a detailed and considerate person.

From giving him quiet space to rest after finding out he had sprained his waist in the morning, to having Auntie Chen come up to look after his lunch at noon, and then, because of the boundaries between men and women, intentionally coming up in person to help him get dressed and take care of his restroom needs.

When he savored it like this, He Muyan really seemed to treat him quite well.

It was plain to see that he was genuinely putting effort into maintaining this marriage.

His husband was a good husband; he was just unfamiliar with him.

Song Li let out a sigh. Could he and He Muyan really go the distance together?

Having stayed in bed for an entire day, it wasn’t until evening approached that he felt a slight improvement.

At the very least, using the restroom by himself and walking around after getting out of bed was no longer an issue.

He had been cooped up in the room all day, feeling incredibly stifled. Furthermore, since that meal at noon, he hadn’t seen He Muyan a single time. The entire house was dead silent, and he didn’t even know if the man was still at home or not.

Supporting his waist, Song Li headed downstairs and took a loop around the living room but didn’t see anyone.

Bored, he walked into the kitchen, grabbed a drink from the fridge, and thought about whether he should just head back upstairs to continue sleeping, when he suddenly heard a faint sound coming from a nearby room.

His heart stirred slightly, and he carefully walked over while supporting his waist.

On his first night arriving at this residence, He Muyan had given him a detailed introduction to the rooms and layout here. He remembered that this room seemed to be the study.

There was someone in the study; could it be He Muyan working inside?

What ? So, he hadn’t gone out after all.

Song Li felt a tiny surge of joy in his heart as he slowly walked up to the door of the study.

The door here wasn’t closed, leaving a small crack open through which light filtered out.

Song Li very carefully pushed the door open a bit wider and knocked on it.

He Muyan was sitting at the desk, typing away at the computer, looking as though he was very busy at work.

Song Li instantly shrank back, feeling as if he had broken into some forbidden territory, terrified of disturbing his work.

Yet, He Muyan seemed to have noticed his presence outside from the very beginning. Without even raising his head, he said in a deep voice, “Come in.”

Song Li swallowed his saliva before boldly pushing the door open and stepping inside with light, quiet steps.

The study was huge. On the wall behind He Muyan was a massive bookcase filled to the brim with all kinds of books. Even for someone like Song Li, a schoolteacher who spent every day surrounded by books, it was still somewhat dazzling to look at.

He hadn’t expected that He Muyan was actually someone who liked to read.

Just as he was staring dazed at this entire wall of books, he suddenly heard He Muyan speak, “Is your waist any better?”

“Huh?” Song Li snapped out of it and saw that He Muyan had already set down his work. Propping his arms on the desk surface, he was pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers with his brows slightly furrowed.

Song Li felt that this man truly pushed himself too hard when it came to work, laboring so tirelessly even on weekends. No wonder he suffered from migraines.

He’s so young, yet he really didn’t cherish his own body.

“I’m much better. It’s just that I still can’t make any major movements yet.”

He Muyan gave an “en,” glanced at him, and let out a soft breath.

Song Li walked a bit closer, “You’ve been working the entire day. You should take a break first; you need to combine work with rest.”

He Muyan lowered his hand from the bridge of his nose, leaned back against the chair, and looked up at him.

Being stared at by him like this made Song Li quite uncomfortable. Clutching the milk bottle in his hand, he asked, “W-What’s wrong?”

He Muyan looked toward the item in his hand and smiled faintly, “You like drinking milk?”

Song Li also glanced down, his face turning red, “No, I was just thirsty. I just grabbed it randomly from the kitchen a moment ago.”

In fact, he really liked drinking milk, but for some reason, when He Muyan asked, he suddenly didn’t dare to admit it. After all, he was already a man in his early thirties; drinking milk still felt somewhat lacking in manliness.

He Muyan didn’t pay much mind to his response and kept staring at him in that same faint manner. Just as Song Li was becoming entirely at a loss from the gaze and even wanted to turn around and leave, the man spoke up again, softly and slowly, “You look very nice wearing it like this.”

Song Li glanced down at himself, only then remembering that he was still wearing He Muyan’s pajamas.

He had rolled up the sleeves and trouser legs several times; it was so ill-fitting, how could it possibly look nice?

Yet He Muyan insisted it looked nice, and as if saying once wasn’t enough, he repeated it, “It looks very nice. Wear it like this from now on.”

Song Li had been perfectly fine at first, but after the man repeated it twice in succession, his face suddenly flushed hot.

Clutching the milk bottle tightly in his hand, he wondered if this He Muyan was doing it on purpose.

He is taking advantage of his thin skin and inability to handle compliments, right!

Do it again if you have the nerve. Compliment me again, just do it, and I’ll perform spontaneous combustion right here on the spot for you to see!

He Muyan didn’t continue with the compliments. He stood up and walked over, “You must be hungry. Let’s just order takeout for dinner. Do you have any dietary restrictions?”

Seeing him take out his phone to make a call, Song Li subconsciously reached out his hand to stop him, “Why order takeout? What’s so good about takeout? I can cook.”
