CFHE Chapter 89

Extra 3

As for how he managed to finish showering afterward, Fu Yuhan couldn’t quite remember.

It was probably through sheer willpower.

Both the bedroom and bathroom were a complete mess. He was tired and sleepy, yet still had to supervise Wen Yu cleaning the room—he really didn’t want to leave any traces for the housekeeper who came to clean, or anyone else, to see later.

“Just lie down, I’ll take care of it.” Wen Yu pressed him onto the bed with freshly changed sheets and pulled a clean air-conditioning blanket over him. “If you’re tired, sleep. I’ll check on you tomorrow morning, okay?”

“But you have to clean everything thoroughly…” Fu Yuhan struggled to keep his eyelids open.

“Mm.” Wen Yu lowered his head and planted a kiss on his forehead. “Sleep—do you want me to turn off the light?”

Fu Yuhan shook his head with his eyes closed.

A warm yellow bedside lamp illuminated his slightly gaunt sleeping face, his messy hair scattered on the pillow. Wen Yu took it all in, feeling nothing but calm inside.

Everyone develops all sorts of problems during the process of growing up. When young and bursting with energy, feeling superior to everyone else, nothing pleases the eye, everything needs to be rebelled against.

Fu Yuhan was probably his medicine.

Wen Yu sat by the bedside like this for a while, suddenly curving the corners of his lips. He found his phone, switched back to his original SIM card, then tossed the phone into the blankets.

Accumulated unread messages and missed call notifications flooded in like crazy. Without even looking, he hummed a tune and went to mop the bathroom floor.

Fu Yuhan dozed off in a daze for a while when he suddenly heard a familiar ringtone.

It seemed like… his phone ringtone?

He opened his eyes and fumbled to pick up his phone from the nightstand.

“Yang Fan? *Cough*, ” As soon as he answered, he belatedly realized his voice was very hoarse. He cleared his throat and said with difficulty, “Why are you calling me at this hour… What’s up?”

“Did you catch a cold or were you sleeping?” The lively voice on the other end carried surprise.

“…Sleeping.”

“It’s not even midnight yet. Since when did you start taking such good care of your health?”

Probably starting from today.

Fu Yuhan’s whole body ached. Not knowing how to answer this question, he could only change the subject: “Is there something you need?”

“I wanted to ask you about a gathering tomorrow. What’s up with you Third High people? I’ve been calling in the group chat forever, you’re not saying anything, Wen Yu’s not saying anything either.” Yang Fan paused. “Are you two secretly doing some activity behind our backs?”

Fu Yuhan: “…”

Technically, they did indeed engage in some “activity.”

For the first time, he lied to Yang Fan: “No.”

Wen Yu was probably still cleaning the bathroom at this point. Fu Yuhan glanced toward the door and vaguely saw weak light coming from the bathroom direction.

“What time tomorrow?” He tried to sit up, but as soon as his body moved, a wave of pain hit him, making him sharply inhale. “…Hiss.”

“…What’s wrong with you?”

“Nothing…” Fu Yuhan coughed twice and said with difficulty, “Pulled something.”

“…How old are you? You can pull something just lying in bed?”

“Talk about the important stuff, please, bro.” Fu Yuhan felt like if he kept going he might expose himself. He just wanted a quick resolution to hang up the phone. He managed to adjust himself to a half-reclined position against the headboard and said into the phone, “Time, place, people… I’ll help you invite Wen Yu in a bit.”

Usually when he said this, Yang Fan would readily tell him, but unexpectedly today he fell silent for three seconds and asked a question.

“You can get him to come, right?”

Fu Yuhan’s drowsiness suddenly vanished. He blinked and lightly hummed in acknowledgment.

“Let’s meet after lunch tomorrow. I’ll send you the location in a bit. Chu Lei said he wants to go play at that arcade place from last time.” Yang Fan said, “Then we’ll find somewhere nearby for dinner.”

“Okay.”

“Then I’ll hang up first. Continue sleeping, old man.”

“…Who are you calling an old man? Are you looking for trouble?”

“Someone who can pull something just lying in bed isn’t an old man?” Yang Fan laughed twice. “Alright, remember to help us invite Yu-ge!”

“Mm.”

He hung up and held his phone in a daze for a while.

After quite some time, he realized there was another phone ringing in the room. Fu Yuhan looked around and found a black iPhone tossed in the middle of bedding piled at the diagonal corner of the double bed’s footboard, vibrating frantically.

That was obviously Wen Yu’s phone.

Since changing numbers, Wen Yu’s phone hadn’t rung like this in a long time. Fu Yuhan originally wanted to check it for him, but as soon as he moved, his whole body ached.

Damn Wen Yu’s ancestors.

He took a deep breath: “Wen Yu!”

His roar came out hoarse, so the volume wasn’t as loud as he imagined. He had to raise his voice and shout again: “Wen Yu! *Cough cough, cough cough cough*…”

Great, now his voice cracked completely.

“What’s wrong?” Fortunately, Wen Yu heard him this time and rushed in from outside. “Didn’t I tell you to sleep?”

“Your phone is ringing.” Fu Yuhan looked at him.

The guy still had sweat on his forehead—looked like he’d been working continuously.

“Ah,” Wen Yu glanced at the offending phone, “Don’t worry about it. I switched back to my old number. I’ll check it after I finish cleaning.”

Fu Yuhan froze: “You switched back?”

“Mm.” Wen Yu didn’t know how to tell him that after being “well-fed and satisfied,” he’d suddenly gained some kind of courage. He thought about it, lowered his head and rubbed his nose, saying embarrassedly, “Anyway, don’t worry about it. You sleep.”

Fu Yuhan looked at him suspiciously.

“Yang Fan just called me and said there’s a gathering tomorrow.” Fu Yuhan glanced at the new message that just came in on his phone and said in a low voice, “Meet at 1 PM at that mall from last time.”

“Yang Fan just called you?” Wen Yu frowned. “Why is he calling you after 11 PM?”

Fu Yuhan: “…”

Fu Yuhan: “Is that the point?”

Wen Yu pursed his lips.

“He’s called me at night before. It’s not late if it’s before midnight.” Fu Yuhan looked at him speechlessly. “Or should I forward his calls to you from now on? Yu-ge, let me remind you—you used to like him too.”

“That was—”

Fu Yuhan stared at him.

“Never mind.” Wen Yu sighed. “I was wrong. I’ll control myself.”

“Come here.” Fu Yuhan suddenly reached out.

Wen Yu walked to the bedside and was suddenly pulled into Fu Yuhan’s embrace.

“…I haven’t showered yet,” Wen Yu tried to pull back, “I’m covered in sweat.”

“It’s fine.” Fu Yuhan asked softly, “Are you done cleaning?”

“Almost.” Wen Yu paused. “But I still need to shower.”

“Tomorrow, let’s… come out to them?”

“Huh?”

“Give our friends a heads up, so you don’t keep feeling so insecure.” Fu Yuhan nuzzled his shoulder and yawned.

Wen Yu lowered his eyelids.

“Actually… when we went to West Mountain last time, I already told Yang Fan I was going to pursue you.”

“…”

This news was like a bolt from the blue.

Fu Yuhan was stunned for quite a while before he managed to struggle out of that struck-by-lightning confusion. He frowned and let him go: “…And then you threw a tantrum with me last time?”

If Yang Fan hadn’t notified Wen Yu in the end, he might not have been able to see Wen Yu one last time before the exam.

Oh, no wonder Yang Fan went to notify Wen Yu.

He was wondering how it could be such a coincidence.

“You’re really something, Wen Yu.” Fu Yuhan looked at him incredulously.

Wen Yu touched his nose: “…I was wrong. From now on, I’ll tell you everything, okay?”

“You better keep your word.” Fu Yuhan shot him a sidelong glance.

“I will. What time and where tomorrow? Actually, let me see Yang Fan’s message.” Wen Yu frowned and reached for his phone. “Your voice is this hoarse—stop talking.”

“I’ll still have to talk at dinner tomorrow.”

“I’ll talk for you, okay? Just shut up.” Wen Yu scrolled the WeChat interface to Yang Fan’s chat and glanced at it, his left hand casually reaching up to ruffle the hair on Fu Yuhan’s head.

Fu Yuhan dodged slightly and squinted at him: “Well, my whole body hurts too. Do you want to… *cough cough*, walk for me?”

“I’ll find some Yunnan Baiyao to massage you with in a bit. Let me shower first.” Wen Yu leaned down and kissed him, squinting with a smile. “How about I carry you out tomorrow?”

“…If you’re not embarrassed, I am!”

Fu Yuhan made as if to hit him, but who knew that twisting his waist would cause a piercing pain—he nearly fell off the bed.

Wen Yu quickly steadied him: “Don’t move! But your body really can’t handle it. Your waist hurts this much from just this little exercise…”

“Are you asking for a beating?” Fu Yuhan grimaced in pain, his expression fierce as he glared at him.

“I’m sincerely suggesting you—”

“What?”

“Go to the gym with me from now on.”

“…Huh?”

Fu Yuhan thought he was joking, because in all the time he’d known Wen Yu, he’d never seen him go to a gym.

He chased Wen Yu off to shower, and the two of them got into bed together.

Wen Yu had taken Fu Yuhan in to stay over very early on. At first, the two had clear boundaries on the double bed—after sleeping, there’d still be a chasm between them. After getting together, they slept closer. Sometimes Wen Yu would throw an arm across. But this morning, probably due to humans instinctively drawing close after “unity of body and soul,” when Fu Yuhan opened his eyes, he found his nose tip poking right at Wen Yu’s collarbone.

What rushed into his nostrils was the other’s warmth and that woody fragrance that seemed marinated into him.

Fu Yuhan jerked back abruptly, eyes wide—

“Mm?” Wen Yu moved, squinting his eyes, his voice carrying the unique low hoarseness of morning. “You’re awake?”

“Why am I…” Fu Yuhan froze, not daring to move. “No, why are you… sleeping while holding me?”

Early in the morning, boys had certain unique physiological reactions that were impossible to hide at this intimate distance.

“You crawled into my arms in the middle of the night yourself,” Wen Yu laughed, saying groggily, “You don’t remember? You crawled over and kept calling ‘Yu-ge, I hurt’… Would I be human if I didn’t hold you?”

Fu Yuhan didn’t believe it one bit: “…There’s no way I’d do that.”

“Next time I’ll set up a night vision camera by the bed and film it so you can’t deny it.” Wen Yu closed his eyes. “The alarm hasn’t gone off yet. Sleep a bit more.”

“You sleep. I can’t really fall back asleep.”

Fu Yuhan carefully rolled over, avoiding Wen Yu’s body, and found his phone to check the time—past 10 o’clock, not that early.

“I’ll go make breakfast. You can eat when you get up?”

“Okay,” Wen Yu laughed softly twice. “Wifey is so virtuous.”

“Say one more word and I’ll come in right now with a cleaver and chop you up.”

“So heartless and ungrateful… Wasn’t it you who called me hubby for those exam questions?” Wen Yu opened his eyes, watching Fu Yuhan crawl out of the blankets bit by bit, asking lazily, “Does it still hurt? Don’t move around.”

“After sleeping, it’s much better.” Fu Yuhan licked his lips, suddenly turning back to glance at him. “If you’d be gentler next time, there wouldn’t be so many problems!”

“Oh, so there is a next time.” Wen Yu smiled. “I thought you wouldn’t let me touch you anymore—why are you avoiding me? Didn’t I just rub against you a couple times?”

Fu Yuhan: “…”

So he was aware.

“You start a fire and want me to put it out?” Fu Yuhan flicked his forehead. “In your dreams!”

With that, he got out of bed and limped to the bathroom.

At this moment, the bathroom was a place that was very difficult for him to face calmly. Fu Yuhan stood at the door in a daze for a while, steadying himself before walking in.

After entering, he first inspected everything, confirming that Wen Yu had cleaned thoroughly last night, before going to wash up.

When sounds of cooking came from the kitchen, Wen Yu reopened his eyes.

When Fu Yuhan went out, he hadn’t closed the door all the way, and the breeze passing through had pushed it open a bit. Light spilled in from outside.

He was someone who couldn’t sleep well once there was light. After spacing out for a while, he sat up and found his phone.

After half a night of vibrating, the poor phone had been shaken until it died. He plugged it in to charge and turned it on, then began processing the ignored messages one by one.

Wen Ziming had called him a bunch of times, along with his secretary, assistant, driver… countless people.

Naturally, there was also a pile of messages looking for him on WeChat. Wen Yu didn’t read any of them, scrolling directly to the newest one. After reading it, he froze.

It was sent by Wen Ziming’s secretary, sent at past 8 PM on June 6th—the night before the college entrance exam started.

“The Chairman said if you can achieve good results in tomorrow’s college entrance exam, he can overlook your insolence and agree to let you continue living where you want. In exchange, you need to return to the old estate with him once after the scores are announced.”

“Yu-ge, eat…” Fu Yuhan pushed the door open and froze. “You’re up?”

“I just discovered something hilarious.” Wen Yu waved his phone at him and smiled. “You’d never guess—for the sake of his pride, Wen Ziming actually lowered his head to me.”

Fu Yuhan raised an eyebrow: “Hm?”

“Fu-ge,” Wen Yu tossed aside his phone and opened his arms, waiting for him to walk over for a hug. “Turns out I really had nothing to be afraid of. The old me seemed too foolish.”

“I don’t know about other things, but you are indeed pretty foolish.” Fu Yuhan walked over and hugged him. “There’s nothing to be afraid of. We’re together.”

“Mm.” He nuzzled him. “Can I eat now?”

“Yes, get up. I finished making it.” Fu Yuhan said, “But what did Wen Ziming say to you?”

“He said he could overlook me not coming home, as long as I agree to cooperate with him in performing ‘loving father and filial son’ in front of Grandpa, Grandma, and the uncles.” Wen Yu borrowed some strength from Fu Yuhan’s body and got out of bed, snorting derisively. “I scoff at that.”

“You don’t want to go?”

“Depends on my mood,” Wen Yu raised an eyebrow and said arrogantly. “Isn’t the initiative in my hands for this kind of thing?”

After all, mid-performance, the actor had the right to sabotage the show at any time—

“Whatever, don’t worry about him. Let’s eat first.” Wen Yu said as he walked out. “Then we’ll go find Yang Fan…”

“And make an announcement.” Fu Yuhan gently finished his sentence.
