Lu Chi squirmed a bit, the kiss tickling him. He instinctively turned his head to avoid it, but Liang Jiashu, like a man possessed, immediately climbed over from the back seat, pressing him down, and forcing a deep, messy kiss, with fingers locked tightly together and refusing to let him dodge.
The taste of candied hawthorn still lingered in Lu Chi’s mouth, and Liang Jiashu sucked at it until the sweetness numbed his tongue, licking him over and over like a wild animal desperate to scrub away any trace of a stranger’s scent.
Lu Chi let him for a bit, tongue lightly curling back against his. After a moment, though, he forcibly pulled that ghost of a man away from his mouth, saying: “That’s enough.”
The air in the cramped driver’s seat was stiflingly hot.
Lu Chi took a few breaths to steady himself, glanced down at Liang Jiashu’s phone screen where the explicit video was still playing, and almost laughed.
“I thought you were jealous of the cameras? Why are you watching this now?”
He was paranoid while doing it, but when it came to rewatching, he suddenly didn’t care if there was anyone else in the audience?!
Liang Jiashu still had one earphone in. At Lu Chi’s teasing, he only lowered his head, bit gently at Lu Chi’s lower lip, and murmured in a low, hoarse voice, “Your voice sounds good.”
The look on your face is good, too.
The video had just reached its end. Liang Jiashu hit pause and zoomed in on Lu Chi’s face, the flushed, sinful face from that night, his black eyes fixed on it intently. Something beneath his thin pants was already very much awake, brushing against Lu Chi’s own half-roused heat.
Both of them stilled for a heartbeat.
Summer clothes were thin and breathable, which only made that kind of contact more electrifying than skin-to-skin.
In the tight space of the driver’s seat, Liang Jiashu straddled him, not rushing to tear at the buttons this time. His aim was far better than before as he sat down just right, his breath hot against Lu Chi’s skin.
As he kissed him again, slow but hard, his voice dropped even lower, saying: “Don’t you think you look… really sexy when you’re like that?”
Lu Chi’s body and face were both unfairly perfect.
When he lost control, he looked like something straight out of an R18 illustration: the arch of his eyes sharp and seductive, pale skin flushed to the point of fever, beads of sweat sliding down the bridge of his nose and landing on his soft red lips before rolling down the tense lines of his throat.
He would usually stick his tongue out a little, just a little, to lick away the sweat from the corner of his mouth.
And sometimes, he’d reach up on his own, touching Liang Jiashu’s hair, looking right at him with a half-lidded, teasing smile, and refusing to let him move. When things got intense, he’d grab him by the neck, his voice rough and playful, murmuring from above:
“Brother Liang, it feels so good.”
Liang Jiashu really didn’t want to be the guy who lost control too quickly. But Lu Chi was truly and utterly debauched.
Once you lit him up, he burned.
Every single time, Liang Jiashu just wanted to fuse them together, body and soul, so Lu Chi could only moan for him, only look at him like that.
Lu Chi raised an eyebrow at his words, rubbing against him as if idly testing his patience, his breathing uneven but amused.
“Do I?”
Liang Jiashu’s breathing quickened. He turned off the Bluetooth, and the audio switched to the phone speakers, suddenly clear inside the cramped space. From the video came the sound of Lu Chi’s breathy voice, soft and shameless, whispering things against his skin. Out of the corner of his eye, Lu Chi caught the way Liang Jiashu froze, tensing all over, and couldn’t help but laugh, muffling it against his shoulder as his body shook.
He listened to it openly, unbothered. But the moment Liang Jiashu’s paranoia kicked back in, he abruptly stopped the video, his expression turning dark as he stared out the car window, as if afraid Gu Yanyan might still be nearby, hiding and listening in.
Seeing him like that, Lu Chi actually burst out laughing. It took him a while to calm down enough to nod, still shaking with laughter as he said between breaths, “Mm… yeah. I guess it is pretty sexy.”
Sexy enough to make any man lose his mind.
Liang Jiashu pocketed the phone, still half kissing, half grinding against him. Even through the fabric, the heat and friction were enough to make the entire car rock slightly. From the outside, it probably looked scandalous.
But soon enough, Lu Chi pressed a hand to his neck, smirking as he warned, “Enough. Don’t get carried away. This is the campus parking lot.”
There were cameras everywhere, not to mention that someone could come down at any time.
If not for the tinted windows, Lu Chi would never have allowed him to act that recklessly.
Liang Jiashu glanced at the windows, immediately growing tense at the thought of anyone else seeing Lu Chi like that. He forced his breathing down and spoke with grim focus, “Switch seats. I’ll drive. We’re leaving here right now.”
He said it like they were escaping planet Earth!
Lu Chi couldn’t help laughing at his paranoia, but humored him anyway, switching to the passenger seat.
The afternoon sun was warm when they drove out of the campus, spilling across the dashboard. Lu Chi reclined the seat, calmed his body, and closed his eyes to bask in the sunshine.
Not long after, the car stopped at a red light.
As they were near the sea, red lights here lasted longer, and street vendors often darted through traffic selling flower garlands and coconuts to tourists.
A sweet floral scent wafted in, and Lu Chi opened his eyes just in time to see Liang Jiashu rolling the window back up and handing him a freshly cracked coconut.
“Want some?” Liang Jiashu asked while sticking a straw in it. “It’s cold.”
Lu Chi took a lazy sip and nodded in approval. “Thanks.” Then, politely, he lifted it toward Liang Jiashu’s mouth to offer him some too.
Liang Jiashu tilted his head, glanced down, and teased, “no thanks. It’s iced, might cool you off. I guess you need it.” The sunlight lit up Lu Chi’s face, translucent and bright, the soft fluff on his cheeks visible like the sheen on a piece of candy.
Liang Jiashu looked at him and melted.
A few seconds later, he smiled faintly, the dark mood in him clearing away. Earlier, he also got a small flower garland, slipping it over Lu Chi’s wrist. The vivid red against that pale, elegant skin was striking.
“You’re beautiful,” he murmured. “Everywhere. Always.”
Lu Chi gave a nonchalant hum, then sighed, frowning slightly.
“I know. It’s honestly such a burden.”
Not that he meant a word of it.
The light turned green.
Lu Chi took a long, noisy sip of the cold coconut water, then flopped back into the seat with a look of mock melancholy.
Liang Jiashu glanced at him, a faint smile flickering in his eyes as he pressed the accelerator and asked casually, “You still haven’t answered me. Why did you say yes to Gu Yanyan?”
Without even lifting his head, Lu Chi replied lazily, “Because I wanted to.”
Come to think of it, it had been a while since he’d gone to FOM to play.
He grew interested in the thought, soon pulling out his phone to browse for temporary hair dyes. Lu Chi’d just found one he liked when he realized Liang Jiashu hadn’t said a word for a long time.
The car rolled into the villa’s garage. Pulled along by Liang Jiashu’s silence, Lu Chi followed him upstairs.
The blast of air-conditioning hit them as soon as they stepped inside.
Still, Liang Jiashu said nothing.
He went straight to the kitchen, his expression unreadable, opened the fridge, and began taking out ingredients. After living together for a while, Liang Jiashu had taught himself to cook most of Lu Chi’s favorite dishes.
Lu Chi leaned against the island counter, his wrist still circled with the bright red flower garland, propping his chin lazily on his hand as he watched the man’s back.
Today, Liang Jiashu was wearing a short-sleeved top for once. With his broad shoulders and well-defined muscles, the black fabric only emphasized the solid lines of his frame, the very picture of a classic male lead build.
Lu Chi was mid-sip when he heard Liang Jiashu’s low, even voice: “Lu Chi, do you prefer little chick-type guys?”
Lu Chi nearly choked on his coconut. “What?!”
Without looking up from the cutting board, Liang Jiashu clarified, concise as ever, “Gu Yanyan.”
The frail, soft kind who looks like one punch would break him.
“…”
Lu Chi had to bite the inside of his cheek not to laugh. After a long moment, he said sincerely, “Liang Jiashu, I just like going clubbing.”
Liang Jiashu paused and looked over at him, not denying that statement, but not confirming it either. He didn’t say it out loud, but when they’d been in the parking lot, when Gu Yanyan had nervously invited Lu Chi to dinner, Liang Jiashu had seen it. The tiny flicker of softness that had passed over Lu Chi’s face.
A person who can be moved by sincerity must be kind.
But his kindness was edged, sharp, and bound by principle. Even when he felt that faint tug of compassion, it never stopped him from smiling as he said no.
Softness, to him, was just that. Softness.
Even if he agreed later, it was only because he wanted to.
Liang Jiashu finished slicing the tomatoes without a word. When he turned around, he saw that Lu Chi had already finished his coconut water and wandered, swaying a little, into the kitchen. The beautiful man tilted his head, leaning lazily against the doorframe, and after a pause, smiled lightly as he asked: “Why aren’t you talking?”
See? He probably didn’t even realize how gentle he could be.
A little silence, a bit of quiet sulking was all it took for Lu Chi to come over, tilt his head like an older brother teasing a child, and smile as he asked, What’s wrong?
That kind of warmth.
That kind of dangerous tenderness.
Liang Jiashu stared at him, face unreadable, then finally stepped forward.
Their bodies knew each other better than their minds did.
The moment Liang Jiashu leaned in, Lu Chi closed his eyes automatically, coconut still in hand. Their lips met in a soft, wet kiss in the middle of the kitchen.
By the end, the kitchen door was closed.
Lu Chi found himself pressed halfway onto the counter, one arm looped around Liang Jiashu’s neck. Between them, their fingers were interlaced, slow, deliberate, and rough.
Because dinner was still waiting, there was no time to go all the way. And Liang Jiashu still hadn’t said a word. Instead, his black eyes were fixed on Lu Chi, palms burning hot.
Lu Chi understood that look. He laughed softly and breathlessly as he leaned on his shoulder, his lashes trembling with amusement. And yet, Liang Jiashu did nothing more. His movements stayed slow and patient, dragging until the air itself felt heavy.
Lu Chi’s eyes reddened at the corners, and his breath hitched with a smirk. “Liang Jiashu,” he complained, “what the hell are you doing now?”
Liang Jiashu didn’t answer. He just looked at him and kissed him again, quiet as a mute. Lu Chi smiled against the kiss, but his hand on the boy’s neck slid down, shifting to close around Liang Jiashu’s throat.
His fingers sank deep into the skin, tightening until the lack of air burned.
They were like two beautiful monsters; the more twisted their intimacy, the sharper their pleasure. Liang Jiashu’s pupils shrank, his body trembling from the pain and thrill, his grip on Lu Chi’s waist only tightening further.
He was going insane.
The older man was only slightly taller but so much stronger than him, refusing to let go. Their mismatched bodies tangled, the friction dizzying, too good, too… wrong. The air grew hotter with every breath, the tension thickening until it blurred.
But right before Lu Chi came, Liang Jiashu suddenly grabbed his wrist, forcing a halt.
Under the man’s half-lidded eyes, he rasped out hoarsely, “Call me Brother.”
He didn’t want to be the fleeting moment of softness that tugged at Lu Chi’s heart. He wanted to be the one thing Lu Chi could lean on. The one and only, the permanent, the anchor.
Because I love you.
And instead of making you feel pity, I want to be the one you trust, the one you turn to first.
Okay?
Their eyes locked.
Lu Chi, sharp as ever, understood immediately. He paused, then smiled faintly and brushed a kiss against Liang Jiashu’s mouth.
“Brother Liang.”
The words trembled with heat.
Their lips met again, sticky and close. Liang Jiashu held him like he wanted to fold him into his bones. Lu Chi’s back hurt from the pressure, his breathing uneven.
But the only thing he could do was sigh softly, half laughing as he whispered,
“Brother…”
………………
The next day, sunlight poured through the classroom’s floor-to-ceiling windows.
Lu Chi lifted his cup for a drink and found Gu Yanyan looking at him expectantly, sporting a new haircut, new outfit, and even a bright orange luxury shopping bag in hand that looked hella expensive.
Clearly a gift.
If that had been before, Lu Chi would’ve just seen it as another cliché scene of a lovesick Protagonist chasing affection.
But now, he remembered the description from the original story.
How the Protagonist had lived so frugally. How every purchase was carefully planned. How, since arriving at A University, he’d eaten only the cheapest cafeteria meals, saving every yuan, even taking a part-time job cleaning tables in the volatile setting of a nightclub.
So Lu Chi lowered his gaze, silent for a moment… And then called out in his mind: [System.]
A cheerful voice popped up instantly.
[Baby, I’m here! What’s wrong?]
But the next second, Lu Chi flipped the pages of his teaching plan and asked calmly: [Tell me… is this world… even real?]
