Chapter 68.3: 告白

[Confession]

Gu Lang looked at Chen Xing who looked at himself just like that, dumbfounded. Without much expression, Gu Lang continued, “Although I possess nothing except bare necessities and now I only have this useless status of Juren (a successful candidate in the imperial provincial examination) as well as this dilapidated house.”

Saying this, Gu Lang seemed to feel embarrassed himself, and his face showed a few not-so-nice awkward expressions to come, as if he was bracing himself to say, “But, I promise to be good to you.”

If someone else said these kinds of words, they would probably be treated as an emotional liar who had nothing but empty words. However, when Gu Lang said these words, Chen Xing only felt as if his heart was about to burst through his chest immediately, leaving him at a loss as to how to conduct himself.

Gu Lang looked at Chen Xing’s lack of response for half a day. His face gradually revealed an expression of loss as he looked at Chen Xing and said with a little bit of embarrassment, “If you find it difficult, then just take it as if I hadn’t said these words today. After all, you’re so good that it won’t be difficult to find a husband several times better than me in the future.”

Chen Xing’s heart instantly ached at the sight of that fragile look on Gu Lang’s face, as if he was about to cry right away. Who could stand by helplessly and watch a beauty be sad? He couldn’t do it anyway.

At this moment, looking at Gu Lang’s sad departure’s appearance, Chen Xing was even more unable to hold back his heart, and when he was about to turn around, he instantly tugged (grasp firmly) on his sleeve and said loudly, “I promise you.”

By the time Chen Xing had finished saying this, a few seconds of embarrassment surfaced on his face, as if he felt that he had said it too quickly and too loudly.

Gu Lang, who had already turned around, at that moment, there was nothing fragile on his face, it was clearly an expression of having his way.

Moreover the look on Gu Lang’s face had long since thrown off its original fragility, changing back to its original appearance, looking at the person in his embrace with a few more points of determination to win.
