MHWFYYTMDF Chapter16

Dinner

He Muyan seemed a bit surprised, subconsciously placing his hand on his waist, “Does your waist still hurt?”

Song Li knew he had misunderstood and slapped his hand away, “No, my waist stopped hurting a long time ago.”

He Muyan stroked his hair, “What are you angry about?”

So, you actually know I’m angry, Song Li wanted to laugh. Curling his lips, he said, “How would I dare.”

There seemed to be a trace of a coquettish pout in his tone.

He Muyan paused, letting out a soft laugh, “I’m also a bit angry.”

Song Li turned his head, questioning him with his eyes: What do you have to be angry about!

They couldn’t see each other’s expressions very clearly in the dark, but Song Li could distinctly feel a bit of awkwardness in He Muyan’s tone as he spoke.

“That friend of yours called you by a name that’s too intimate, I haven’t even called you that way before.”

Song Li was shocked. What did he mean? What did he mean? What did these words mean? Was he jealous?

“You, you, why do you care about this?”

“Can’t I?” He Muyan’s voice was muffled, “You haven’t properly called me by my name either.”

Ah, had he not?

Song Li blinked, speaking with uncertainty, “I have, right?”

He Muyan applied a bit of pressure to the hand used to pinch his face, “What you call me in bed doesn’t count.”

Song Li dithered, his face instantly turning red.

He Muyan sighed, leaning down to give him a kiss, “Don’t let others call you that way again in the future.”

Song Li asked blankly, “Call me by what?”

He Muyan kissed him, speaking indistinctly, “Lili…”

Song Li’s mind was completely dazed. Wait, no; tank tops were not allowed, and clothes with buttons were forbidden too. Then what exactly was he supposed to wear?

When he woke up early the next morning, he saw He Muyan changing clothes and adjusting his tie in front of the mirror. With his broad shoulders and slim waist, he looked unbelievably handsome.

“What time is it?”

The moment he spoke, Song Li froze. What was wrong with this raspy, broken voice? Was this his own voice?

He Muyan turned back to look at him, a rare touch of tenderness appearing on his handsome face, “You’re awake.”

Looking at his face, Song Li suddenly felt a bit embarrassed and pulled the quilt upward.

“It’s almost nine o’clock. How is your body feeling? If you’re still uncomfortable, don’t go to school for now.”

Song Li shook his head, “I have quite a lot of classes scheduled today.”

Ah, this raspy, broken voice. The moment anyone heard it, they’d know there was a story behind it. Going to lectures like this would absolutely make people let their imaginations run wild.

He Muyan probably thought of the same thing as him as he walked over to bend down and sit.

“Take a day off, your health comes first.”

So, you actually know health comes first! Then who was the one holding his legs, his waist, over and over last night, tossing and turning him around in all sorts of positions? Did he really think he was from a circus acrobat troupe!

Song Li looked at him resentfully, “No, I can get the perfect attendance award in two more days. I can’t give up at the final stretch.”

He Muyan: “How much is your monthly perfect attendance award.”

Song Li knew what he wanted to say and said helplessly, “This isn’t a question of money.”

He Muyan fell silent for a moment, reaching out to stroke his face, “Don’t force yourself. If you can’t hold out, come home.”

Song Li blinked. What was going on with He Muyan being so gentle at this moment?

Song Li was also caught off guard by this rare, harmonious, and warm atmosphere. He unexpectedly rubbed his face lightly against He Muyan’s palm, tilting his head with a faint smile as he replied, “Okay.”

He Muyan’s hand seemed to stiffen for a split second, and the look in his eyes changed slightly. Before Song Li could check more closely, he had already pulled his hand away and stood up.

Reaching out to straighten his lapels, he reverted to his usual ice-cold demeanor, “Don’t drive yourself like this. Have Li Xiu take you to school in a bit.”

Song Li hadn’t snapped out of that moment of tenderness yet, “Then what about you?”

He Muyan looked down at him, “I drive myself occasionally too.”

Song Li nodded.

He Muyan added, “I had Li Xiu bring breakfast over. You can freshen up and eat first before going to school.”

Song Li seemed to only know how to nod now, “Thank you.”

He Muyan glanced at him again, letting out what seemed to be a very faint sigh, before finally turning to leave.

After Song Li washed up and came downstairs, he indeed saw Li Xiu waiting there, standing upright in his suit like a bodyguard.

“Good morning, Mr. Song.”

Song Li nodded, “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

Li Xiu shook his head before pointing his hand toward the dining table nearby, “Mr. Song, please hurry and have breakfast, it won’t taste good once it gets cold.”

Song Li pulled out a chair and sat down before looking up to ask him, “Why don’t you sit down and eat together? There’s so much here, I can’t finish it all by myself.”

Li Xiu smiled, “I usually take care of my own breakfast before coming to pick the Boss up. Mr. Song, please enjoy it yourself.”

Song Li let out an “oh” and glanced at him again.

He hadn’t looked at him closely before, but Li Xiu was actually quite good-looking. He didn’t seem that old either, but just like He Muyan, his demeanor was far too mature.

Although he wasn’t as solemn as He Muyan, standing there with a cold face completely killed any desire anyone might have to approach him.

Like boss, like subordinate.

Song Li smiled faintly and quietly ate his breakfast.

By the time Li Xiu dropped him off at school, it was already almost ten o’clock. He had contacted the teachers in the office beforehand, and they had helped him clock in.

The moment he stepped into the office, he was immediately surrounded by the few teachers inside. Every single one of them had eyes gleaming with excitement, looking ready to force a confession out of him right away.

Only then did Song Li remember that he still owed them an explanation. He raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, “I’ll talk, I’ll tell you all everything. Just let me sit down first, alright? Don’t look at me like that, it’s a bit scary.”

Xu Shanshan dragged him over and pushed him down into his workstation, staring at him intently, “Teacher Song, you’re not getting away today. What do you mean by ‘you have a husband’? Didn’t you just say a few days ago that what you have plenty of are boyfriends? How did it turn into a husband in the blink of an eye!”

“Yeah, Teacher Song.” Tian Fu also egged it on from the side, “You’re really being unfair here. You didn’t even tell us about such an important matter. When that one from your house suddenly showed up the other night, he gave us all a fright.”

Song Li gave a forced laugh, trying to think of how to explain it without shocking them too much, “It’s like this. The one who picked me up that night was indeed my husband. We’ve registered our marriage. Because it happened so suddenly, I just hadn’t found the right chance to tell everyone. To show my apologies, I’ll treat you all to a big feast, alright?”

“How is a big feast enough?” Xu Shanshan snorted. As if remembering something, she leaned in excitedly again, “If anyone is treating, it has to be you together with your husband. What’s the fun in just you treating us? I heard from Teacher Tian that your husband is an absolutely stunning hunk. You have to bring a handsome guy like that out for all of us to admire. What’s the point of hiding him away just for yourself to look at?”

This young girl was always the one who loved stirring up trouble the most when things got lively. Song Li had a headache and could only give a perfunctory promise, “Right, right, right. When he’s free, I’ll definitely have him come over to eat with everyone.”

“What do you mean ‘when he’s free’? We’re free today.” As Xu Shanshan spoke, she turned around to ask, “Isn’t that right, fellow teachers?”

The other few people actually nodded along in agreement. By the looks of it, they didn’t plan on letting him escape today.

Flustered by these scorching gazes, Song Li had no choice but to pull out his phone and text He Muyan right in front of them.

“My colleagues said they want to have a meal with you. Are you free today?”

After sending the message, he actually felt a wave of relief. He knew what He Muyan was like, he was a busy man through and through. Normally, if someone wanted to see him, they probably had to make an appointment well in advance. How could it be possible to see him just because you said you wanted to?

Because he knew He Muyan would definitely decline, he wasn’t worried at all now. He picked up his phone and showed it to the people opposite him, indicating that he really had sent the message.

Only after several minutes did Song Li’s phone finally buzz twice.

Xu Shanshan whipped her head around instantly like a tough guy, “It’s a reply from your husband, right! Hurry and look!”

Without any rush, Song Li unlocked the screen and clicked into WeChat to check.

President He: I have time after seven o’clock. Will that work?

Song Li: ……

Wait, President He, what happened to that overwhelming, domineering aura of yours? Where did the cold, arrogant, and untouchable persona you were supposed to have gone? You’re not even sticking to the character profile written clearly in the textbook; so why have you suddenly become so approachable and down-to-earth?

Looking at his expression, Xu Shanshan asked curiously, “How is it, Teacher Song? Is your husband free tonight?”

Song Li took a breath, trying his best to keep his smile from cracking, “He said… yes.”

“That’s great!” Xu Shanshan clapped her hands and let out a humph with a cold laugh, “Tonight, let me, the Iron Lady, meet him properly. I want to see exactly what kind of extraordinary figure managed to abduct our Teacher Song.”

Song Li left her to go crazy on her own and looked down at the next message He Muyan sent over.

President He: How many people are there? I’ll have Li Xiu book the restaurant.

As expected of President He, thoughtful in every detail.

Song Pear: Not many. Five in total, including you.

President He: Okay.

President He: See you tonight.

Song Li put his phone down. Opposite him, Xu Shanshan was already discussing strategies with the other teachers on how to test He Muyan tonight, talking until her face was flushed red. He really didn’t know why she got so energized over this kind of thing.

He just hoped everything would be peaceful tonight.

When it was almost time to get off work, He Muyan sent him another message, which was a map navigation link to a restaurant.

Song Li forwarded this message into the teachers’ group chat.

Xu Shanshan was the first to see it and let out a “wow”, “Hey, I know this restaurant! It became hugely popular after a TV drama featured it some time ago, turning it into an internet-famous hotspot overnight. Not only is it extremely difficult to get a reservation, but the prices are also ridiculously expensive.”

After speaking, she turned her head and blinked at Song Li, “Not bad, Teacher Song! Your husband really knows how things work.”

Song Li didn’t understand these things. It was just a restaurant. No matter how hard it was to book or how much it cost, it certainly didn’t amount to anything for He Muyan.

The group followed the navigation and arrived at the destination. Perhaps because He Muyan had tipped off the front desk in advance, the waiter actively approached them the moment he saw them and led them to the private room.

Xu Shanshan clicked her tongue in wonder all the way there. If she hadn’t been afraid of embarrassing herself, she would have wanted to pull out her phone to take pictures and post them to her Moments several times already.

“We are here. I wish you all a pleasant dining experience.”

The waiter pushed the door open, bowing and smiling to signal them to enter. The service attitude was extremely comforting.

The group filed in one after another, only to see He Muyan get up and walk toward them.

The lighting in the private room wasn’t very strong. He Muyan had already removed his suit jacket, leaving him in only a dress shirt with his tie slightly loosened. Yet, those few simple steps somehow carried the imposing presence and elegance of an international male model.

He stopped in front of Song Li with one hand naturally taking the coat draped over Song Li’s arm while the other hand patted the top of his head, “Are you hungry? There were quite a lot of things to handle today, so I’m a bit late.”

Song Li shook his head and looked up at him. “This time is actually right around dinner time; it’s not late.”

The height difference between the two of them was just right. He Muyan really liked the way Song Li looked up at him every time, his deer-like eyes were completely clean and incredibly well-behaved.

He Muyan let out an “en”, “Order more of what you like to eat in a bit.”

The two of them conversed as if no one else were around, their intimacy leaving absolutely no crack for anyone to wedge themselves into.

Standing behind them, Xu Shanshan felt like she was about to pass out. She frantically tugged on Tian Fu’s sleeve, her mouth opening and closing repeatedly, yet she couldn’t utter a single word.

Tian Fu patted her hand and smiled calmly, “Handsome, right? He already belongs to Teacher Song.”
