Heeyeon's Time

Jung Heeyeon was no longer an omega trapped inside the walls, clueless about the world. He still didn’t know all the details of what was going on, but he felt it was time to face things directly.

As he stepped onto the container floor, the hollow, the metallic echo unique to such places rang through the space. It didn’t resonate too loudly due to the packed cargo, but the sharp, tinny sounds were still enough to grate on the nerves. Jung Heeyeon scrunched his nose at the acrid smell of rusted metal. He started to slightly regret refusing Director Yeon’s offer to carry him.

’Do you want me to carry you?’

‘Pardon? Why?’

‘You’re still having a hard time walking, right?’

‘I can walk by myself.’

‘Hmm. You can walk by yourself?’

‘Yes. And the team leaders are outside, too.’

Noticing that Jung Heeyeon was self-conscious about being seen by others, Director Yeon let out a soft chuckle.

‘No one would talk behind our backs if I carried you.’

‘It’s not that… It’s just that I’m an adult. I’m not drunk or just awake from sleep, so I shouldn’t be carried around outdoors.’

At Jung Heeyeon’s firm tone, Director Yeon relented and stepped out of the car. Thanks to his support on the waist, walking wasn’t difficult. But once inside the container, Jung Heeyeon started to feel a little uneasy. If he’d let himself be held, maybe the comforting scent of the director’s pheromones would’ve helped dull the discomfort.

“Come here.”

Sensing his hesitation, Director Yeon pulled the omega to his side. The small frame was completely enveloped by the alpha’s broad chest. From behind, Jung Heeyeon’s small build was entirely hidden by Director Yeon. Finally, Jung Heeyeon could let out a slow breath. Once fully in his arms, the dense scent of Director Yeon’s pheromones grew stronger. It was always a scent that calmed him. The metallic stench was gone in an instant.

The container was packed with large crates. Jung Heeyeon only relaxed after confirming that the space he stood in was not a hutch. As he looked around slowly, he noticed some of the crates were open. Inside, black-colored guns were neatly arranged.

If it hadn’t been for Nam Soohyun’s interference, these were items Director Yeon should’ve acquired long ago.

“Were these the items which originally should have arrived to you, instead of me?”

Jung Heeyeon glanced up at the man holding his waist and asked. Director Yeon, who had been inspecting a crate, immediately looked down. Though the lowered gaze made the atmosphere all the colder, it wasn’t a frightening expression to Jung Heeyeon.

“Our Heeyeon must be remembering the first time we met, huh?”

Director Yeon pulled the omega, practically bound in his arms, even closer as a faint smile crept onto his lips. The container’s nerve-wracking metallic scent was slowly being masked by Jung Heeyeon’s pheromones. This was the first time the man had entered a container without feeling on edge.

“Yeah, if things had gone as planned. Seeing them in person now, does it amaze you?”

“Yes.”

Director Yeon extended a hand toward Shim Soocheon. Understanding the silent request, Shim Soocheon handed over one of the guns with respectful precision.

Though he didn’t show it, Shim Soocheon was having a hard time enduring the overpowering scent of Director Yeon’s pheromones filling the container. Normally restrained to perfection, the alpha’s scent now saturated the space, likely because of the omega in his arms.

Kim Jiwon had said Jung Heeyeon still couldn’t manage his pheromones well, but at this rate, no one else on the team would have to worry about being affected. Director Yeon’s presence didn’t allow the omega’s pheromones to linger.

Shim Soocheon held his breath as he observed the alpha, and the omega he so obviously adored.

“Try holding it.”

Fully aware that the Jiwoo alphas were struggling with his pheromones, Director Yeon shamelessly held out the gun in front of Jung Heeyeon.

“Isn’t this dangerous?”

“It’s safe, there’s no magazine.”

After a moment of hesitation, Jung Heeyeon accepted the gun. It was lighter than he expected, but also colder. As he fiddled with it out of curiosity, Director Yeon asked softly.

“Do you want one?”

Jung Heeyeon blinked in surprise at the sudden question. He’d never once thought about wanting a gun.

“A gun? But you need a license to own one… And I don’t have one.”

“Making one isn’t hard.”

It was a risky-sounding comment, said as if regulations didn’t matter.

When Jung Heeyeon didn’t respond and just fidgeted with his fingers, Director Yeon laughed softly, brushing it off as nothing.

“I told you, you can do anything. If there’s something you want, you should have it.”

Jung Heeyeon looked down at the gun in his hands. Until he was nineteen, the phrase he’d heard most often was ’Don’t do it.’. He hadn’t expected that in just a few months, he’d grow more familiar with being told to do what he wanted. Something about it made his chest tingle, and he fidgeted with his fingers again.

“I didn’t mean I want it. And I wouldn’t have a reason to use it, so it’s okay.”

“True. Our Heeyeon is not so good with his hands.”

Director Yeon took the gun from the pale hands and handed it back to Shim Soocheon. He’d been ready to give it if Jung Heeyeon wanted it, but perhaps a gun was too much. The omega was naturally gentle by temperament, so there was little risk of trouble from mistreatment—but being clumsy with his hands, accidents might still happen. Director Yeon didn’t mind if Jung Heeyeon caused accidents, but with a gun, the risk of the omega himself getting hurt was too high, it was better not to let him use it.

“Do you know how to shoot, Director?”

Watching Shim Soocheon clean the gun, Jung Heeyeon asked curiously. Director Yeon hesitated for a moment, then gave a crooked smile.

“I’m not that good of a person, Heeyeon.”

“That’s just how other people choose to see you, Director.”

His voice sounded almost as if he were insisting the man was a good person.

The man wasn’t sure about that. With a lazy smile, the man’s eyes turned narrow and sly. Even by his own standards, Director Yeon didn’t consider himself a particularly good person. Instead of answering, he just gave a crooked smile. The omega who had been nestled in his arms squirmed and turned to face him.

“To me, you’re a good person, Director.”

Jung Heeyeon spoke with quiet firmness. It didn’t matter to him what anyone else thought of Director Yeon.

“And I’ve been thinking… Director, I want you to be a good person only to me. Don’t be sweet to anyone else.”

“Hmm, I can’t be sweet to anyone else?”

“Yes.”

As the omega demanded it like it was only natural, Director Yeon gently tapped his cheek and tilted his head.

“Heeyeon. Even if you didn’t say that…”

His large hand moved slowly from the boy’s cheek to the nape of his neck.

“I‘ve already been only sweet to you.”

His fingers lingered on the soft, pale skin, stroking it along his jaw. Only after the careful touch withdrew did Jung Heeyeon open his mouth again.

“Yes. And you have to keep doing that in the future.”

It was a surprisingly bold request for someone with such a gentle, harmless face—yet it was so unmistakably Jung Heeyeon. Director Yeon smiled as he always did and placed a soft kiss on Jung Heeyeon’s cheek. He could feel the subtle awkwardness from the alphas inside the container, averting their gazes away. However, he wasn’t the type to care what his subordinates thought.

Director Yeon pulled Jung Heeyeon’s small frame back into his arms. While part of it was because he knew the omega was less nervous when surrounded by his pheromones, in truth, it stemmed from a far more selfish desire. The yearning to wrap that soft, warm body in his embrace and breathe in that scent as much as he pleased.

He extended his free hand, and Sim Soocheon, who had been waiting nearby, handed him another gun. different from the one earlier. Director Yeon gripped it with practiced ease and gave his wrist a light twist, as if checking something.

“What about the rest?”

“Everything is accounted for. The container was moved in its entirety. It seems nothing inside was tampered with.”

While the two exchanged words, Jung Heeyeon silently stared at the gun in Director Yeon’s hand. It wasn’t that he suddenly wanted one. It was just that the sleek black-colored gun barrel looked strangely fitting in the man’s large hand, and he couldn’t take his eyes off it.

It was a dangerous item, but it suited him. That thought might’ve been inappropriate, but it was Jung Heeyeon’s honest impression. The way those long fingers and protruding knuckles held the heavy, streamlined design of the gun, it was seamless.

As he looked down, he saw the metallic glint of a silver watch and a white shirt sleeve peeking out from under the black suit, resting loosely on the man’s wrist. For some reason, the glimpse of that wrist felt oddly intimate, prompting Jung Heeyeon to fidget with his own. A memory surfaced in his mind, when he wasn’t able to wrap his hand around Director Yeon’s wrist during sex.
