AMBTICBPIB Chapter 73

"Your husband is so good at comforting children..."

Hello, angels! 💕✨

Your dear translator is finally back! 🥹🫶

I’m really sorry for disappearing for a while. Thank you so much for being patient with me and waiting for my return. ❤️

I also want to say how deeply touched I’ve been by those of you who privately reached out to me during my absence. 🥺💕 Knowing that you noticed my absence, checked in on me, and were waiting for my return honestly meant so much to me. I’m incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

I know I previously said that I would move my translations to another site, and I truly meant it at the time. But after giving it more thought, I realised just how much I genuinely love this site. I love how clean and comfortable it is, not only for translators, but for readers as well. There’s something about the way everything feels here that I haven’t quite found elsewhere.

So, I’m willing to take back what I said before and give this place—and us—another chance. 🥹💗

I’ll do my very best to bring you translations regularly again, and I truly hope you guys will continue to support me and the platform. Your support means more than you know and keeps me motivated to continue sharing these stories with you. 🫶📖

So… shall we get back to our stories? 👀✨

Thank you for staying with me, angels. I’m so, so grateful to have you all. 💕

When Jiang Xu and Zhou Huaixiao entered the hospital room, Chu Yi was leaning against Shen Jin’s chest, looking exhausted. As they approached, they could see Chu Yi’s eyes were slightly red.

Chu Yi brightened at the sight of them. “You’re here!” He hadn’t seen Jiang Xu in a while, and without their usual banter, Chu Yi had actually missed him.

Jiang Xu and Zhou Huaixiao handed their gifts to Uncle Wen. Jiang Xu stepped forward and asked, “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Could Chu Yi have been mistreated? But that seemed impossible.

Chu Yi pouted. “Waaah, Shen Jin insisted I get out of bed and walk around. It hurts!”

Earlier that day, the doctor had examined Chu Yi’s wound and declared it was healing well enough for him to start walking. For Chu Yi’s health and to speed up his recovery, Shen Jin had steeled his heart and gently helped Chu Yi walk slowly.

Chu Yi sobbed with each step. “Do I really have to walk? Do I really have to?”

Shen Jin coaxed him, “Just a little longer. You can rest soon.”

Chu Yi whined, “You said that earlier, Shen Jin! Can’t I rest yet?”

Shen Jin gritted his teeth, making one last stand. “Count to a hundred, and we’ll stop.”

Soon, the hospital room echoed with Chu Yi’s rapid counting, his voice sounding rather pitiful.

To an outsider, it might have seemed like Shen Jin was bullying Chu Yi, who was enduring unbearable hardship.

Uncle Wen and Nanny Yue watched them, smiling and encouraging Chu Yi. “Keep going, Chu Yi! You can do it!”

Finally, Chu Yi reached a hundred, as if all his strength had drained away. He collapsed against Shen Jin, refusing to take another step. “I can’t walk anymore. Not even one more step. Carry me back to bed.”

Shen Jin steadily lifted Chu Yi and gently placed him on the bed.

By the time Jiang Xu and Zhou Huaixiao arrived, Chu Yi had just finished his walk.

*So that’s how it is,* Jiang Xu thought. *I knew Shen Jin would never let Chu Yi suffer. He’s the kind of man who would buy an entire yogurt factory just because Chu Yi likes the brand.*

Jiang Xu couldn’t contain his excitement. “Where’s Little Lucky Star? I want to see him!”

Just as he spoke, Little Lucky Star’s loud cries filled the room. Jiang Xu froze. “Did I wake him up?”

Chu Yi, already experienced, replied, “He’s probably hungry or needs a diaper change.”

As he spoke, Nanny Yue glanced down and quickly changed Little Lucky Star’s diaper. The baby immediately stopped crying.

Chu Yi gazed expectantly at Shen Jin, who immediately understood his meaning. He propped Chu Yi up against the pillows and gently took Little Lucky Star into his arms.

Now awake and with a fresh diaper, Little Lucky Star was in high spirits. His large, dark eyes darted around, as if searching for familiar voices and scents.

The people he knew best were Shen Jin and Chu Yi.

As Shen Jin held him, Little Lucky Star grinned, his eyes fixed on Shen Jin. The sight melted Shen Jin’s heart, and he began playfully teasing the baby like a child himself.

Gu Jin and the others walked in just then and froze at the sight of Shen Jin acting so uncharacteristically. *Is this really Shen Jin?* they wondered. *Shen Jin, acting like a fool while playing with a baby?*

If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, Gu Jin and the others would never have believed it.

Yesterday, after learning that Shen Jin had become a father, they had celebrated for hours. Now, they were eager to visit Chu Yi and see the baby.

The sudden influx of visitors filled the hospital room with warmth and chatter. Fortunately, the room was spacious enough that even with the crowd, it didn’t feel cramped.

Chu Yi introduced Jiang Xu and Zhou Huaixiao to Gu Jin and the others, and then introduced Gu Jin and the others to his friends Jiang Xu and Zhou Huaixiao.

After exchanging greetings, everyone’s attention turned to Little Lucky Star.

Jiang Xu leaned in for a closer look. “Wow, Chu Yi, Little Lucky Star is so adorable! Those big eyes are just like yours, and his nose looks exactly like your husband’s!”

Chu Yi beamed with pride. “Right? Right? I think his nose looks just like Shen Jin’s too! Hehe.”

Zhou Huaixiao couldn’t help but add, “What a beautiful baby.”

“Little Lucky Star is such a lovely name,” Gu Jin remarked. “Chu Yi must have come up with it. Shen Jin would never think of something so cute.”

He Zhuo chimed in, “Eyes like Chu Yi, nose like Shen Jin—he’s inherited all the best features from both of you!”

Looking at the beautiful Little Lucky Star, Gu Jin sighed wistfully, “Seeing your baby makes me so envious. I want a little one too.”

Li Cheng teased him, “Then get married and have your own!”

Gu Jin shook his head. “Nah, I can’t even guarantee I’ll find someone I’ll love forever. I’m not Shen Jin, after all.”

As the group chatted, Little Lucky Star’s tiny mouth puckered, and he burst into tears, his clear cries filling the room. His face flushed red from crying.

Jiang Xu immediately asked Chu Yi, “Why is Little Lucky Star crying? Does he need a diaper change again?”

Chu Yi looked equally puzzled. “I don’t know. We just changed his diaper. Shen Jin, why is he crying?”

Shen Jin, standing nearby, replied, “Little Lucky Star is hungry.”

Nanny Yue handed Shen Jin a freshly prepared bottle. He tested the temperature on the back of his hand—just right—before offering it to Little Lucky Star. The baby latched onto the nipple with perfect precision, his little mouth sucking rhythmically.

He was eating with gusto, a trait he clearly inherited from Chu Yi.

The uncles in the room watched Little Lucky Star drink his milk with rapt attention, their faces beaming with joy. If Little Lucky Star could talk, he would surely wonder why these strange uncles were staring at him so intently. *It’s just milk! Why are they smiling like that? Have these weird uncles never had milk before?*

Observing Shen Jin’s practiced movements, Jiang Xu voiced what everyone was thinking: “Your husband is so good at soothing babies.”

Chu Yi still looked a bit dazed, but Shen Jin was different. He cared for Little Lucky Star with methodical precision, able to discern from the baby’s cries whether he was hungry or uncomfortable.

Chu Yi smiled. It was true. Though Uncle Wen and Nanny Yue were present, Shen Jin insisted on handling many tasks himself. He carefully observed how Nanny Yue cared for Little Lucky Star, asking her questions whenever he was unsure.

Shen Jin quickly learned how to care for a newborn.

In addition to caring for Chu Yi, Shen Jin often looked after Little Lucky Star, seemingly tireless and brimming with energy.

The group watched as Shen Jin fed Little Lucky Star, then gently patted the baby’s back.

Jiang Xu whispered to Chu Yi, “What’s he doing?”

“Burping Little Lucky Star,” Chu Yi replied. “It helps relieve gas and prevent spit-up.”

The other men nodded, their faces lighting up with understanding.

Gu Jin and the others stared at Little Lucky Star, a tiny, soft bundle they didn’t dare touch, fearing they might hurt him. Holding him was out of the question, despite their longing, lest they accidentally injure the precious infant. After all, Little Lucky Star was now Shen Jin’s most cherished treasure.

Watching Shen Jin hold Little Lucky Star so skillfully and even pat his back to burp him, it was hard to believe he had only become a father the day before.

Shen Jin’s hands were large, yet his movements were remarkably gentle and tender. Little Lucky Star seemed perfectly comfortable being patted.

The group watched as Shen Jin soothed Little Lucky Star to sleep.

Gu Jin deeply admired Shen Jin’s patience and tenderness. He could easily have left these tasks to Nanny Yue, but Shen Jin insisted on doing everything himself.

After placing Little Lucky Star in the crib, Shen Jin turned his attention to Chu Yi.

Having been without his phone for almost a day, Chu Yi asked, “Shen Jin, can I use my phone for a bit?”

Shen Jin handed it over with a condition: “Half an hour.”

“Okay,” Chu Yi agreed.

“Wait, Chu Yi, you just do whatever Shen Jin says?” Gu Jin protested.

Chu Yi smiled without answering, Gu Jin didn’t understand.

Jiang Xu, Zhou Huaixiao, Gu Jin, and the others chatted with Chu Yi for a while. Before they knew it, an hour had passed. They stood up to leave, knowing Chu Yi needed plenty of rest and their presence was preventing him from resting properly.

It was time for Chu Yi to get out of bed and walk around again. He looked at Shen Jin with a pitiful expression. “Do I really have to walk? Can’t I just stay here?”

Shen Jin supported him. “Walking will help you recover faster.” If he could, Shen Jin would have let Chu Yi stay in bed, but he knew that wasn’t an option.

Chu Yi whined softly.

After taking a few steps, Chu Yi leaned against Shen Jin, trying to stall by talking.

“I just watched a video,” he said. “To encourage boys to exercise, they put a hundred yuan on the ground for every step they took. Look at us—there’s nothing here.”

Shen Jin immediately replied, “I’ll have Chen Ye bring some money over right away. We’ll put ten thousand yuan on the ground for every step you take.”

Chu Yi giggled. “I could walk you into bankruptcy.”

Shen Jin was supremely confident. “That’s absolutely impossible.”

As Shen Jin reached for his phone to call Chen Ye, Chu Yi quickly stopped him. “You’re actually going to do that? I was just joking!”

Shen Jin realized that might be a bit impractical. “How about this? I’ll keep track of your steps, and each one is worth ten thousand yuan.”

Chu Yi: “Really?”

Shen Jin: “Really.”

Chu Yi rolled up his sleeves. “I’m going to walk.”

Supported by Shen Jin, Chu Yi took each step carefully, still whimpering occasionally, but unlike earlier that morning, he didn’t give up after just a few steps.

Eventually, Chu Yi leaned heavily against Shen Jin. “Shen Jin, can we stop now? I feel like I’ve walked so many steps.”

Shen Jin scooped him up in his arms. “You did great this time, Chu Yi.”

Lying in bed a while later, Chu Yi noticed a transfer notification on his phone.

Shen Jin had transferred two million yuan to him.

“I was just joking about the money,” Chu Yi said, surprised. “You actually transferred it?”

Shen Jin smiled at him without replying.

Chu Yi gazed at him with admiration. “Shen Jin, you’re so cool! I’ll definitely walk even more steps tomorrow.”

During his pregnancy, Chu Yi had been very careful with his diet and hadn’t had any milk tea or similar treats in a long time.

“Shen Jin, can I have milk tea now? I really want some.” Even just a few sips would be enough.

Knowing how much his little one had been craving it, Shen Jin replied, “What flavors do you want? I’ll get you one of each.”

Finally, Chu Yi got to enjoy the warm, comforting milk tea he had been longing for.

Leaning back against the pillows, he closed his eyes in contentment.
