AMBTICBPIB Chapter 59

I'm a Little Scared

After learning he was pregnant, Chu Yi endured the severe morning sickness without missing a single class.

But today, he took a rare half-day off to go to the hospital for a checkup.

Before he knew it, Chu Yi was already three months pregnant.

He glanced down at his stomach. *Three months already?* Yet his belly remained flat, unchanged from before.

If he hadn’t known for certain he was pregnant, Chu Yi would never have guessed there was a tiny life growing inside him.

As Shen Jin entered the bathroom, he caught Chu Yi lifting his shirt to examine his stomach in the mirror. He turned this way and that, his expression utterly adorable.

Chu Yi’s lower abdomen was still flat, and his waist remained slender.

Noticing Shen Jin, he explained sheepishly, “I was just checking if my belly had changed.”

“Really? Let me feel,” Shen Jin said, walking over and crouching down. He placed his hand gently on Chu Yi’s stomach. His skin was soft and delicate, unlike Shen Jin’s own hard, eight-pack abs.

“It doesn’t seem to have changed much,” Shen Jin remarked.

At first, Chu Yi thought Shen Jin would just touch his stomach briefly and let go. But Shen Jin’s hand remained there, motionless. His palm was slightly warm and broad, with a hint of roughness. As he caressed Chu Yi’s stomach, a tingling sensation spread through him, and Chu Yi felt his ears growing hot again.

“Are you still not done touching?” Chu Yi asked softly.

Then, Shen Jin’s next move left Chu Yi even more astonished, his ears flushing deeper crimson.

Shen Jin leaned forward and pressed a kiss to Chu Yi’s stomach. Chu Yi bit his lip, his fingertips curling involuntarily.

Only then did Shen Jin lower Chu Yi’s shirt. “Be careful not to catch a cold.”

Even after Shen Jin stood up, Chu Yi could still feel the warmth lingering on his stomach.

Chu Yi was understandably nervous about his first check-up. Fortunately, Shen Jin stayed by his side throughout the examination, which was personally conducted by Dr. Meng.

The series of tests took nearly an hour to complete.

The results came back promptly. As Dr. Meng reviewed the reports, Chu Yi watched him anxiously.

Dr. Meng said, “Chu Yi’s health is excellent, and the baby is developing perfectly. Everything is normal.”

Chu Yi breathed a sigh of relief. He had been vomiting frequently lately and worried about the baby’s development. Hearing Dr. Meng confirm the baby’s healthy progress completely reassured him.

Chu Yi turned to Shen Jin and smiled, “Dr. Meng says the baby is developing perfectly.”

Shen Jin ruffled his hair, his heart aching for Chu Yi’s pregnancy discomfort.

Since the blood test required fasting, Chu Yi hadn’t eaten breakfast. After the examination, Shen Jin took him back to the car for breakfast.

Uncle Wen had personally prepared several types of breakfast, each packed in a separate container.

Chu Yi used to skip breakfast without a second thought, but since moving in with the Chu family, he had been eating regularly. Now that he was eating a bit later than usual, he was genuinely hungry.

Shen Jin took out the containers and arranged the warm breakfast before Chu Yi.

Shen Jin ate a few bites with him until he was full, then watched Chu Yi finish his meal.

Chu Yi’s appetite seemed to be improving; he was eating more than before. Seeing him enjoy his meal made Shen Jin feel happy.

After Chu Yi finished eating, Shen Jin wiped his mouth. “Should I take you home now, or do you want to come to work with me?”

Chu Yi had afternoon classes.

After considering it, Chu Yi thought spending time in Shen Jin’s office wasn’t bad, especially since it was close to school. “I’ll come to work with you.”

Shen Jin had been waiting for him to say that. “Come keep me company at work. It gets a bit boring working alone.”

Lately, Chu Yi had been resting in Shen Jin’s office during lunch breaks, and gradually, more of Chu Yi’s belongings had accumulated there.

As usual, Shen Jin worked while Chu Yi sat beside him, scrolling through his phone. Suddenly, Chu Yi sighed.

Shen Jin immediately looked up, concern in his eyes. “What’s wrong?”

Chu Yi hummed in surprise. *How could Shen Jin hear such a quiet sigh?*

“Aren’t you supposed to be reading documents?” Chu Yi asked. “How can you even pay attention to me?”

Shen Jin asked, “Are you bored? I can take you out to play.”

Chu Yi shook his head. “I’m not bored at all. Watching TV is perfectly fine.”

Shen Jin beckoned, and Chu Yi scampered over, naturally settling onto Shen Jin’s lap.

Shen Jin wrapped his arms around Chu Yi’s waist. “Why did you sigh earlier?” Chu Yi’s sigh had made Shen Jin’s heart tremble.

Chu Yi initially said it was nothing, but seeing the genuine concern in Shen Jin’s eyes, his heart softened.

Chu Yi pouted slightly. “Shen Jin, do you think giving birth will hurt a lot?”

Chu Yi was terrified of pain. Even minor bumps or scrapes would make his eyes water. Childbirth must be excruciatingly painful.

The thought had suddenly occurred to Chu Yi, making him anxious, hence the sigh.

Surprised by the reason, Shen Jin pulled Chu Yi into a tender embrace. His little one was so afraid of pain, and pregnancy wouldn’t be easy. This discomfort would last for ten long months, during which Chu Yi would suffer greatly.

He kissed Chu Yi’s hair. Chu Yi suddenly smiled. “You’ll be there with me then, right?”

“I will,” Shen Jin replied.

Chu Yi nestled closer in Shen Jin’s arms. “You wouldn’t have let me suffer so much back then, would you?”

“No,” Shen Jin replied.

Chu Yi nuzzled against him. “I knew you wouldn’t. That’s why I’m not so scared anymore.”

Chu Yi’s complete trust in him was deeply touching. Shen Jin asked softly, “You really trust me that much?”

“Of course I do,” Chu Yi said, tilting his head to look up at him. He paused, suddenly forgetting what he wanted to say. From this angle, sitting on Shen Jin’s lap, Shen Jin looked particularly handsome.

Shen Jin was different when he worked, radiating an intense aura. Even just sitting there, he exuded a striking presence.

Shen Jin raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”

Chu Yi blurted out, “You’re so handsome!”

Shen Jin froze for a moment, then his deep, joyful laughter filled the office. “Chu Yi, you’re the first person to ever say that to me.”

His laughter was low and resonant, exceptionally pleasing to the ear.

Chu Yi scoffed. “Impossible.” With Shen Jin’s striking looks, someone must have said that to him before.

“It’s true,” Shen Jin insisted. “Everyone’s afraid of me. No one’s ever said that to me before.”

Chu Yi paused, realizing it was true. Before meeting Shen Jin, he too had been afraid of him. Everyone said Shen Jin was ruthless and violent. Having endured so much hardship from a young age, Shen Jin had developed a deep, guarded nature, rarely showing his true emotions. As he grew older, the aura of unapproachability around him only intensified, making others even more hesitant to approach him.

In high school, three tall, burly white classmates tried to bully Shen Jin. Shen Jin single-handedly beat them so badly they cried, begged for mercy, and apologized. To them, this yellow-skinned classmate seemed impervious to pain, fighting with reckless abandon.

After that, no one dared to bully Shen Jin again. Even the classmates who secretly admired him were too afraid to confess their feelings or even compliment his looks, fearing they’d end up on the receiving end of his fists.

Shen Jin’s friends, like Gu Jin, would never suddenly blurt out, “You’re so handsome!”

So, Shen Jin had genuinely never heard anyone praise his looks. His perception of his own appearance was on a completely different level from Chu Yi’s.

He saw himself as having an ordinary face, but in Chu Yi’s eyes, he was the most handsome man in the world.

The thought made Chu Yi’s nose tingle with emotion. He wrapped his arms around Shen Jin’s neck, looked him in the eyes, and said earnestly, “Shen Jin, you’re really, really handsome. The first time I saw you, I thought, ‘How can anyone be so handsome?’ Later, the reason I wasn’t so afraid of you anymore was precisely because you were so handsome.”

“How come I remember someone ducking back into their room the moment I turned around that day?” Shen Jin asked.

“So you knew I was secretly watching you that day,” Chu Yi replied.

Shen Jin smiled. Of course he knew. Lacking the sense of pain, his other senses were heightened. How could he not notice Chu Yi secretly watching him from behind? When he had turned around that day, he had seen a fluffy head retreating into the room.

“Your eyebrows are so handsome,” Chu Yi said. “Your eyes are so handsome, your nose is so handsome, your mouth is so handsome, your Adam’s apple is so handsome, and your abs are so handsome too. You’re just the most handsome, most handsome person ever!”

Hearing Chu Yi’s effusive praise, Shen Jin couldn’t suppress his smile. How could his little one be so endearing? He was so earnest and adorable when complimenting others.

*So this is how highly Chu Yi thinks of me,* Shen Jin thought.

He wanted Chu Yi to stay with him even more. “Were you watching TV just now?”

“Mm-hmm,” Chu Yi replied.

Shen Jin opened a video app and selected a drama. “Sit here and watch TV with me,” he said.

Chu Yi’s eyes widened. “How did you know I was watching this drama?”

Shen Jin’s computer screen was divided into two halves: one half displayed his work interface, while the other, larger half showed Chu Yi’s TV-watching interface. The two interfaces operated independently, creating an unexpectedly harmonious arrangement.

This was the scene Secretary Li witnessed when she entered the office.

Having worked by Shen Jin’s side for over two years, Secretary Li had seen her share of grand occasions, but the sight before her still left her momentarily stunned.

President Shen was reviewing documents while his partner sat in his lap, monopolizing the computer to watch dramas. The video’s volume was quite loud, yet President Shen seemed completely unfazed.

Most astonishingly, even with Chu Yi in his arms, President Shen would occasionally turn to look at him with an utterly tender gaze.

*President Shen really dotes on his husband,* Secretary Li thought.

“President Shen, I’m here to collect the documents,” Secretary Li said.

Shen Jin glanced at the desk as Secretary Li took the signed documents. “President Shen, there’s a meeting at 3 PM this afternoon.”

Shen Jin nodded to acknowledge.

Chu Yi said, “You have a meeting this afternoon? Then I’ll just go to school myself.”

“I’ll take you. There’s plenty of time,” Shen Jin replied. “Are you tired? If so, take a nap first.”

“Mm, I’m sleepy.” Chu Yi yawned and leaned against Shen Jin’s shoulder. “I’ll sleep here.”
