AMBTICBPIB Chapter 55

From now on, you're not allowed to casually invite Chu Yi out...

Chu Yi had anticipated Shen Jin’s disapproval when he mentioned the hiking trip, but he hadn’t expected such an intense reaction.

Shen Jin’s chopsticks froze mid-air.

This hiking plan was even more serious than the crab incident.

Shen Jin stared at him with an uncharacteristic intensity, his eyes dark and piercing. Chu Yi felt that if he insisted on going hiking, Shen Jin might lock him in the house and forbid him from going anywhere.

To ensure he could continue attending classes smoothly and to reassure Shen Jin, Chu Yi quickly said, “I definitely won’t go.”

Only after Chu Yi repeatedly promised he wouldn’t go did Shen Jin finally relax, his tense posture visibly easing.

After dinner, Chu Yi began to feel drowsy.

With an hour and a half until class, he could rest for an hour.

This was Chu Yi’s first time in Shen Jin’s office. It was large and bright, and though the bed in the rest area wasn’t as big as the one at home, it was incredibly comfortable, carrying the scent of sunlight. With the curtains drawn, the room instantly darkened, creating a perfect environment for rest.

Chu Yi lay on the bed and patted the space beside him, asking Shen Jin, “Aren’t you going to sleep with me? This bed is quite big.”

In the dim light, Shen Jin’s eyes shone with amusement. “Alright, let’s sleep together.”

Shen Jin climbed onto the bed, and Chu Yi suddenly remembered, “I forgot to set an alarm.”

Shen Jin pulled him close, urging him to relax. “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re not late.”

Chu Yi looked up at Shen Jin. Even from this angle, Shen Jin was strikingly handsome—no matter how you looked at him, he was always handsome. The fact that someone as handsome, accomplished, and wonderful as Shen Jin loved him still thrilled Chu Yi, his heart racing uncontrollably whenever he thought about it.

Seized by a sudden impulse, Chu Yi leaned forward and kissed Shen Jin’s cheek before shyly burying himself in Shen Jin’s arms.

Shen Jin froze for a moment, then looked at Chu Yi with such overflowing tenderness that it seemed about to spill over.

Even though he had initiated the kiss, Chu Yi now hid shyly in Shen Jin’s arms, his ears flushed crimson. Chu Yi rarely took such initiative, and his bashful demeanor was so endearing that Shen Jin couldn’t resist. He gently tilted Chu Yi’s chin and kissed his eyes.

The eyes are among the most sensitive parts of the body, and Chu Yi’s were particularly delicate. His long lashes, like fluttering butterfly wings, brushed against Shen Jin’s cheek.

Chu Yi’s eyes were cool, while Shen Jin’s lips were warm. The contrast was comforting, and Chu Yi’s lashes fluttered faster.

Shen Jin lowered his head in surprise. “Chu Yi,” he murmured, “do you tear up just from a kiss on your eyes?”

Chu Yi pressed his lips together and gazed silently at Shen Jin. He hadn’t realized his eyes were so sensitive; no one had ever kissed them before.

Shen Jin kissed him again, and pearl-like tears welled up. “So sensitive,” Shen Jin murmured, his tone tinged with helplessness.

Chu Yi thought Shen Jin would only kiss his eyes, but then warm lips pressed against his mouth.

It was a tender yet tantalizing kiss. Shen Jin restrained himself, only tasting lightly before covering Chu Yi’s eyes with his hand and whispering, “Sleep now.”

Feeling comfortable beside Shen Jin, Chu Yi fell asleep in his arms after only a short while.

Once Chu Yi was asleep, Shen Jin gently kissed his forehead again, closed his eyes, and rested with him.

When Chu Yi woke up, his stomach churned with nausea. The familiar sick feeling surged back, and as he was about to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, Shen Jin was already holding a clean trash can in front of him.

Chu Yi vomited violently again.

Afterward, his eyes were red-rimmed. Shen Jin held him tightly, his brows furrowed with worry and heartache.

Chu Yi whimpered, “I feel a little sick.”

As he spoke, tears began to fall. He didn’t understand why his tears were even more uncontrollable than before, nor when this miserable state would end. It won’t be like this forever, will it?

Shen Jin wiped away his tears, knowing that no words could ease Chu Yi’s suffering. His own heart ached in sympathy.

“Then we won’t go to school this afternoon,” Shen Jin said. “Let’s go home.”

Hearing this, Chu Yi couldn’t help but laugh. Shen Jin always wanted him to rest properly.

“Feeling better?” Shen Jin asked.

Chu Yi finally realized Shen Jin was trying to cheer him up. He leaned against Shen Jin’s shoulder. “Still a little uncomfortable. Can you hold me for a while?”

As Shen Jin held Chu Yi, his phone vibrated several times.

“Your phone’s ringing,” Chu Yi reminded him.

“It’s nothing,” Shen Jin replied, not even glancing at the screen. For him, nothing was more important than Chu Yi.

After about fifteen minutes of cuddling, Chu Yi finally felt a bit better.

Just as he was about to put on his shoes, Shen Jin knelt down in front of him and helped him put them on.

Chu Yi stared at him, realizing this was the first time anyone had ever helped him with his shoes.

Once Chu Yi was ready, Shen Jin drove him to school.

After school, Shen Jin was there to pick him up right on time.

Chu Yi’s first day back at school went just like any other, which greatly relieved Shen Jin.

However, Chu Yi was already thinking about the future.

“I think I’ll take a leave of absence during summer vacation,” Chu Yi said.

By summer vacation, Chu Yi knew his pregnancy would be much more noticeable, making it difficult to attend classes.

“Whatever you want,” Shen Jin replied.

This already surprised Shen Jin greatly. He had assumed Chu Yi would insist on attending classes until the very end. However, with two months remaining in the semester, Shen Jin still had two months of worry ahead.

Uncle Wen prepared a light dinner. The table featured steamed grouper, a dish Chu Yi had always loved. The fish was tender and flavorful, and Chu Yi usually ate a generous portion.

When Chu Yi saw the fish, he frowned slightly. Shen Jin asked, “Does the smell bother you?”

The expression was identical to the one he had made when he saw the grilled lamb chops the other day.

Chu Yi nodded. “Mm-hmm.”

Shen Jin immediately had the fish removed.

The remaining dishes were all mild. Chu Yi felt a little guilty, knowing that Shen Jin and Uncle Wen were eating the same bland food as him.

They didn’t have to eat so blandly just to accommodate him, but Uncle Wen insisted, “A family should always eat together properly. Right now, there are three of us, but in a year, there will be four.”

Chu Yi enjoyed playing computer games, and Shen Jin saw no harm in him playing for a while each day. To make him more comfortable, Shen Jin had replaced the chair in Chu Yi’s room with a gaming chair, ensuring he wouldn’t experience back pain while sitting.

While Chu Yi played his game, Shen Jin sat beside him, working on his own tasks.

With a slight lift of his head, Shen Jin could see Chu Yi, headphones on, completely immersed in the game.

He genuinely loved those headphones, wearing them for music, TV, and gaming. Chu Yi didn’t notice his phone vibrating.

At first, Shen Jin didn’t pay attention either. But when he saw the sender’s name on the screen, his expression turned serious.

Shen Jin didn’t have many friends; Gu Jin and the others were among his few close companions.

These friends were all on good terms with Chu Yi, especially Gu Jin, who often invited Chu Yi to hang out.

Gu Jin had been anxiously awaiting news of Shen Jin’s confession to Chu Yi. Several days had passed, yet Shen Jin hadn’t mentioned anything about it. Gu Jin wondered what was happening: Had Shen Jin confessed or not? If he had, was it successful?

Considering Shen Jin’s reserved nature, Gu Jin suspected he still hadn’t confessed. The thought made Gu Jin anxious for his friend.

Deciding to help Shen Jin, Gu Jin planned to invite them both out, creating an opportunity for them. He first messaged Chu Yi.

When Shen Jin saw Gu Jin’s message inviting Chu Yi out, alarm bells immediately went off in his head. It wasn’t for any particular reason, but because Gu Jin had taken Chu Yi straight to the racing club on their first outing, had him race, and even let Chu Yi’s phone run out of battery, leaving him unreachable.

Given Gu Jin’s “questionable past,” Shen Jin grew anxious the moment he saw the invitation. Moreover, Gu Jin’s usual activities tended to be quite extreme.

Chu Yi had just finished a game when his phone vibrated again. He glanced at it.

As he checked his phone, Shen Jin had somehow moved closer, standing so close he could see the WeChat message on the screen.

Sure enough, Gu Jin was inviting Chu Yi out.

Chu Yi looked up and met Shen Jin’s gaze. “Gu Jin-ge wants to take me out,” he said. “He said he’s taking me white-water rafting.”

White-water rafting!

“Don’t worry about it,” Shen Jin said. “Leave it to me.”

Chu Yi hummed in acknowledgment and went back to his game.

Shen Jin picked up his phone and sent Gu Jin a message:

You’re not allowed to invite Chu Yi out anymore.

He’s pregnant.
