PA chapter 13

I Miss You

Yan Leyan didn’t find out Lin Sheng was already with Qu Baiyuan until he returned to the city center. He wanted to smash his head against the ground and shouted, “Lin Sweetie! No! Dad doesn’t allow it!”

Lin Sheng sat cross-legged on the sofa, “He’s the one who helped me with my homework. Don’t copy from him.”

Yan Leyan copied the homework quickly, saying, “Really, I feel like Bai Ji and him aren’t good people.”

“You’re biased,” Lin Sheng recalled Qu Baiyuan’s words about bias and repeated, “It’s a… lack of objective basis, a prejudiced view.”

Yan Leyan was very disdainful, “Tsk, you’re even starting to talk like him. You’re beyond help.”

Lin Sheng completely ignored his sarcasm and happily chatted with Qu Baiyuan on his phone. Hatton school opened a few days earlier than theirs. Qu Baiyuan had already gone to school that day.

Early in the morning, Qu Baiyuan crossed half the city to bring him breakfast and lingered with him in the car for a while before leaving. Just as he arrived at school, he sent a message saying he was going to the auditorium to prepare for the freshman welcome ceremony.

Lin Sheng thought that they would soon start school too, and they might not be able to meet frequently in the future, which made him a little unhappy.

Since his visit to the hospital due to his acute heat reaction, Qu Baiyuan seemed to have obtained some kind of permission. He gave Lin Sheng ample pheromones and affection every day. Lin Sheng had never been so satisfied and happy before.

Lin Sheng replied to him, “I’ve already started thinking about you for the five hundredth time.”

Qu Baiyuan: “Five hundred and first.”

Lin Sheng: “Five hundred and twentieth.”

Qu Baiyuan: “Five hundred and twenty-first.”

Yan Leyan saw him laughing like a fool with his phone, pounced over, and pushed him onto the sofa fiercely.

Lin Sheng was pinned down beneath him, unable to stop laughing. “Get off!”

Yan Leyan sat up. “I regret it now, very much! If only I hadn’t let you stay at the Yan residence with me back then.”

Lin Sheng lay back on the couch, using his foot to push at him. “Why do you have such animosity towards my Alpha?”

“I’ve been raising cabbages for years, and now they’re being rooted by a pig. Can’t I have some hostility towards the pig?” Yan Leyan lamented, “What did he drug you with? His pheromones are that good?”

Lin Sheng knelt up, nodding solemnly. “They’re really good. When I’m with him, it’s like all the pores on my body are comfortable. I don’t have to do anything to feel great.”

Yan Leyan covered his ears and yelled, “What nonsense is this! I don’t want to hear it!”

After teasing him for a while, Lin Sheng’s mood turned low again. He sighed, “So annoying, school is starting.”

“If you don’t want to go to school, then don’t. Your grandfather doesn’t like you going to school anyway,” Yan Leyan climbed back to the coffee table to do his homework. “In your circle, Omegas are so rare. Isn’t making millions a year from professional boxing better than studying?”

This struck a chord with Lin Sheng’s concerns. He said, “I probably won’t be able to compete for the next year.”

“Why?”

“I told you last time I had an acute heat reaction and went to the hospital, right? The doctor said I can’t use suppressants for a year.”

“Why don’t you just let your Alpha mark you?” Yan Leyan suggested.

“Qu Baiyuan looked up information and said that if I encounter a high-level Alpha’s pheromone suppression, temporary marking won’t resist it, which could be very dangerous.”

Yan Leyan looked up from his workbook, his expression serious. “You won’t compete for a year. Have you told your grandfather?”

“Not yet…”

Lin Dingnian was more concerned about Lin Sheng’s competition results than anyone else, and Yan Leyan knew it better than anyone else. Their relationship relied on Lin Sheng’s relentless hard training. It was more like that of a master and disciple than grandfather and grandson. When Lin Sheng was young, Lin Dingnian could forbid him from eating or sleeping if he didn’t meet training standards, or even kick him out of the house. Yan Leyan’s mother didn’t know how many times she had sheltered Lin Sheng.

Thinking of this, Yan Leyan also worried about him. “What will you do? Don’t you have a competition next month?”

Lin Sheng bit his lip, frowning. “I don’t know, maybe… I’ll just have to grit my teeth and go.”

Yan Leyan widened his eyes, raising his voice, “How do you grit your teeth on this? It’s not a joke if you’re driven into a heat by your opponent!”

Lin Sheng tentatively said in a low voice, “Then… let Qu Baiyuan give me the final marking?”

“Are you crazy?” Yan Leyan exclaimed, horrified. “You’re still underage!”

“I know, I know, I’m just kidding. Don’t get worked up,” Lin Sheng waved his hand.

Yan Leyan threw down his pen, furrowing his brows as he thought for a moment. “I think you should have a frank conversation with your grandfather. After all, he’s your grandfather. It’s unreasonable to force you if your health doesn’t allow it.”

Lin Sheng actually had no confidence in this matter at all. He never dared to mention not competing. Even if the competition coincided with his heat period, he would still take triple doses of suppressants and go. He knew that his grandfather looked down on gays, so he had to prove himself no matter what.

He had seriously considered letting Qu Baiyuan complete the final marking, but this request was not only difficult to mention but also somewhat despicable. He felt it was unfair to Qu Baiyuan.

Lin Sheng propped his chin and said weakly, “Hmm, I’ll find a chance to talk to my grandfather about it.”

Yan Leyan was afraid of him getting beaten up and suggested, “Why don’t you start boarding next semester? This way, you won’t have to come home every day, and you can avoid some trouble.”

Lin Sheng sighed and propped his chin with his hand, “Let me think about it.”

If he moved to the dormitory because of this, it might completely fall out with his grandfather. Lin Sheng didn’t want to lose the last family member in the world.

In the afternoon, Lin Sheng went to the martial arts gym to find Qin Tai. He didn’t dare to tell his grandfather directly about this matter, so he wanted Qin Tai to go and sound him out first.

Qin Tai patted his shoulder, “This sport is indeed unfriendly to Omegas. It’s already very difficult for you to persist all these years. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to your grandfather. Don’t worry.”

“Uncle Tai,” Lin Sheng hesitated a bit, “I just won’t compete for a year, but I can still help with things at the gym…”

Qin Tai said, “Alright, I know. You start school the day after tomorrow, right? Focus on your studies, everything will be fine.”

Lin Sheng didn’t know how Qin Tai talked to Lin Dingnian. Lin Dingnian came home in the evening without saying a word, as if Lin Sheng didn’t exist in the house. Lin Sheng talked to him, but he ignored him.

Lin Sheng felt that he might have done something wrong again.

The only thing his grandfather had done for so many years was to nurture and train him, and he had put in a lot of effort. But he gave up so easily. Was he really as useless as his grandfather said? He wanted to admit his mistakes to his grandfather, like he used to, and say that he still wanted to compete.

At that moment, his phone rang. It was Chu Liang calling, and as soon as he picked up, Chu Liang said urgently, “Something happened! Today, my master had a big fight with your grandfather.”

Lin Sheng walked into the room and closed the door, “A big fight? Why?”

“I was just about to ask you! They were arguing in the office, and I didn’t dare to go in. I listened outside, and it seemed like they were talking about you.”

“Oh,” Lin Sheng told Chu Liang about not being able to compete for a year, “It’s probably because of this.”

“Ah,” Chu Liang sighed, “There’s nothing you can do about it. Your health comes first, and you’re still so young.”

Lin Sheng didn’t say anything. Chu Liang continued, “Just not competing for a year, or will you never compete again in the future?”

“In the future… I might compete again.”

“Are you doing it for your grandfather, or for yourself?”

“I…” Lin Sheng couldn’t continue.

For this matter, he had no enthusiasm. He had never had the right to choose since he was young; everything he did was what Lin Dingnian told him to do.

If he could choose, would he still choose this path?

Probably not.

After hanging up the phone, he hugged his knees and sat on the bed, full of conflicting emotions. If he compromised this time, what about next time? What if one day his body gave out?

Lin Sheng knew that he was rejecting both physically and mentally. He wouldn’t be able to achieve any results if he went on stage like this. In the end, he would disappoint his grandfather.

Resentment was one thing, but more than that, he was worried that his grandfather would never like him again.

After sitting alone for a while, he looked at his phone to estimate the time. Qu Baiyuan was probably almost done with his work, so he called him.

The call was quickly answered, and Qu Baiyuan’s voice came through the phone, “Wait for me, it’s a bit noisy here.”

He walked to a quiet place and said apologetically, “I’ve been busy today. Did you miss me?”

“Yeah,” Lin Sheng said, “I miss you a lot.”

Qu Baiyuan paused for a moment, then said, “I’ll come over to see you.”

“No need, it’s too far.”

“For you, no distance is too far,” Qu Baiyuan’s voice was very low and gentle, “And I miss you too.”

Lin Sheng closed his eyes and pressed his face against the phone. Qu Baiyuan’s voice sounded as if they were talking face to face. Suddenly, a sense of grievance surged up in his heart, and with a nasal tone, he said, “Qu Baiyuan, I really miss you.”

“Alright,” Qu Baiyuan said from the other end, “I’ll be there in an hour.”

Hatton Academy was far from the city center, but Qu Baiyuan was willing to drive two hours just to see him.

When he arrived, Lin Sheng had already taken a shower and changed into sportswear, standing by the roadside waiting for him.

The car stopped in front of Lin Sheng, and Qu Baiyuan rolled down the window, saying, “hey beautiful, where are you going? Need a ride?”

Lin Sheng chuckled at his teasing, opened the car door, and got in. “Have you been infected by Bai Ji?” he joked.

Qu Baiyuan raised an eyebrow. “How could you compare me to someone like Bai Ji?”

Lin Sheng smiled but didn’t say anything. Qu Baiyuan looked at him carefully. “Are you unhappy?”

“I’m not unhappy. I’m happy to see you.”

“Shall I take you for supper?”

Lin Sheng frowned. “Why do you always want to take me out to eat whenever you see me?”

Qu Baiyuan leaned closer, lowering his voice. “Because you always look hungry every time I see you.”

Lin Sheng looked down at his lips, slowly leaning in, their lips touching. “I’m not hungry at all,” he whispered.

“I am,” Qu Baiyuan said.

His kissing technique had improved greatly; it was no longer as clumsy as the first time they kissed. His kisses were soft, carrying the scent of red tea, and a kind of enchanting power that made Lin Sheng surrender.
