His hair was being combed by someone’s fingers.. The sensation woke him up.
With his consciousness still half-asleep, Minato gazed at the scene before him. On the small bookshelf were only the books he could never part with – the place where Minato felt most at ease in the room.
Thinking about work, he then remembered that today was his day off. After that, a sense of having forgotten something important began to nag at him.
“Huh…?” This time, the hair at the back of his head was stroked in a combing motion again. Drawn by it, Minato turned his head around and opened his eyes wide.
“Good morning. I think it’s about time you got hungry. Can you get up?” Propping his elbow on the pillow next to where Minato was lying, Ogiwara was smiling.
Minato was quite familiar with Ogiwara’s sardonic smiles or secretive ones, but his full, open smile was an extremely rare sight. Lying on his side and facing him, Minato was left speechless, simply staring in awe.
The fingers that had just been combing his hair now grasped a short lock and gave a light tug. Drawn by it, as soon as Minato turned his face that way, his breath was stolen by a soft kiss.
The playful kisses that came and went were tinged with heat, the tongue tip licking or teeth nipping in between, hinting at a deeper contact. Before he could feel unsatisfied, the fingers that had moved on their own pulled Ogiwara’s head closer, and his reward was the tongue tip parting Minato’s lips. After that, he was tossed about by the kisses that intertwined and pulled apart. He was sucked and bitten.
“Mmh, nh.”
The voice reaching his ears had a certain quality to it. Absently wondering whose it was, Minato responded to the warmth playing in his mouth, and as if dredged up from the deep, the sounds around him gradually returned. That’s when he realized he was lying on the bed, clinging to Ogiwara’s neck and begging for kisses.
Snapping back to his senses, his hands stilled. Bewildered by the retreating kisses and feeling slightly disappointed, he opened his eyes to find Ogiwara smiling happily at him.
“You’re awake? If it’s not enough, I can give you a stronger stimulus.”
“…No, it’s fine! That’s enough already!”
The startled voice he let out was unusually rough. Bolting upright, he realized from the feel of the sliding blanket that he was completely naked. As he hurriedly pulled the blanket around himself, a laugh came from right beside him, “You don’t have to hide your body.”
“I- I’ll go take a shower and get dressed!”
“Go ahead. Sorry for touching things around the house, but I picked out some clothes for you.”
Handed a set of a shirt, chinos, and underwear, held out almost reverently, Minato glanced up at Ogiwara, who was smiling delightedly.
“…Sorry, I’m gonna shower first before changing. And, um, I’m not wearing anything right now.”
“I’ve already wiped you down, so you can just put the clothes on. I also changed the sheets and did the laundry, so no need to worry.”
“Eh?” Reflexively, Minato looked down at his own body. Now that he thought about it, the blanket and sheets did feel fresh, and his skin didn’t feel unpleasant either.
“…You mean, you were the one who…?”
“There’s no one else here but me. Though even if there were, I definitely wouldn’t have let anyone else do it.”
He felt the point was off, but he didn’t have the composure to voice it. In other words, while Minato had been sleeping, Ogiwara had taken care of the aftermath – even though that had happened before, why did it bother him so much this morning?
Contrary to his mature age, his entire body flushed hotly. Burying his face in the knees he had pulled up under the blanket, he let out a groan, only to have his hair tugged at insistently from the side.
Ignoring it didn’t work, and with no choice left, he turned his face slightly. Meeting Ogiwara’s gaze peering closely at him.
“Minato-sensei, you’re incredibly cute in a different way last night.”
“…Hey, Ogiwara-kun, how old do you think I am?”
“In front of me, being cute is just fine. But don’t show it to anyone else, it’d be a waste.”
“That’s not the point! You shouldn’t tease people like that-“
This time, his voice trailed off not because he was at a loss for words, but because he was suddenly kissed at the corner of his eye. Nibbled at the eye, peppered with pecks around his face, and finally encased in an embrace with his lips sealed, Minato was left with nowhere to escape. After that, he ended up sitting on the bed, covered in the blanket, dressing himself while under Ogiwara’s unrelenting gaze.
It seemed Ogiwara had woken up quite early, and had bought veggie-packed bagel sandwiches from the nearby bakery. Along with the quickly made soup and coffee, they had their breakfast.
They were used to eating together, and yet Minato felt somewhat self-conscious and uneasy. Regrettably, it seemed he was the only one feeling that way, as Ogiwara kept fussing over and teasing him throughout the meal. Exasperated by how he kept blushing and paling, Minato let out a sigh.
“I’ve always thought, despite being the older one, I really lack any sense of dignity.”
And yet, the age difference was something that bothered him. Sighing, as Ogiwara placed the post-meal coffee in front of Minato, he said, “That’s not true. When push comes to shove, Minato-sensei is actually quite scary. Probably someone like me wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“…In what way?”
“It’s a secret. It’s the perk of being your lover.”
“Lover.”
Parroting the word, Minato’s voice trailed off. Frozen with the cup raised to his lips, Ogiwara furrowed his brows.
“You’re not going to say it’s not true, are you? If you don’t remember what happened last night, I can remind you.”
“No, it’s fine, I remember. I see, so a lover…”
Though he nodded repeatedly, Ogiwara’s expression remained half-convinced. Realizing this was getting awkward, Minato tried to steer the conversation elsewhere. Ah, that’s right, he brought up something that had been bothering him last night.
“Ogiwara-kun, are you moving to Nakamori-san’s place?”
“That’s just something she’s been telling me unilaterally. It seems troublesome to dispose of the furniture, so she’s trying to push it on me as an opportunity.”
“So you’re not moving then?”
“I’m still considering it. There are various things to think about.”
At the slightly evasive tone, Minato looked up. After hesitating a bit, he spoke.
“Is it because of work? I mean, if it’s okay, can I ask where you’re living now?”
“It’s about a two-hour drive from here. Since it’s a rental, as long as the location isn’t too far, I can secure accommodations for jobs like this one, so moving won’t be an issue. Though, it would be a problem if it’s too far away.”
Ogiwara, who is answering, seems somewhat pleased. Minato, puzzled by this, stares at him. Ogiwara smiles and says, “This is the first time since we reunited that you’ve asked me about my personal life.”
“Is that so?”
“Although you’ve asked me about the schedule and things like that, about daily matters, you never asked where I lived, what I was doing, or what I’ve been up to from ten years ago until now. Honestly, I thought you weren’t interested.”
“…I thought you didn’t want to tell me or didn’t think it was necessary.”
Minato answers honestly, and Ogiwara laughs as if he understands.
“We were thinking the same thing, and we both kept quiet about it.”
“Yeah. From now on, I’ll ask you more. By the way, what are you going to do about moving?”
“I’ll settle on the conditions and start looking seriously. But no, I’m not going to take Yuki’s place. If I’m going to move, I’d rather live somewhere closer to here.”
“I see.”
Minato smiles in return, and he’s keenly aware of how his feelings have softened.
There are so many things he wants to ask Ogiwara, so many things he wants to say. Even though he can’t do it all at once, he’ll start asking bit by bit. As he thinks this, he places his coffee cup down, only for Ogiwara to gently hold his hand with the cup still in it.
When Minato looks up, their eyes meet. It seems like Ogiwara was waiting for that, as he opens his mouth.
“I have one request before anything. …From now on, can I call you Minato-san instead of Minato-sensei?”
His voice is almost pleading, and to Minato’s ears, it sounds sweet.

*Translator’s Note: Yeah. ‘Minato-san’ and then, just ‘Minato’, right? I bet he would also later ask him to call him ‘Koushi’ instead of ‘Ogiwara-kun’. Meh. Ogiwara always wanna move his status up bit by bit. Hahahaha. Okay, guys, that’s the end. Phew! Thanks for reading! See you in my next translation. Currently, I’m working on ‘We Best Love: No. 1 for You’. -K

*Author’s Postscript: Thank you for your continued support. I’m Shiizaki You, and recently, I’ve been painfully reminded of just how bad I am with technology.
It’s a common occurrence for me to realize, after finishing my work, that it’s like “a lid for a broken pot,” but it’s actually very rare for me to think that way while I’m in the middle of writing… This is something I’ve only just noticed for the first time this time around.
So, that’s what this is. In terms of content, it’s probably exactly what the title suggests, so let’s go with that. …I wonder why it’s especially hard to comment this time, though.
By the way, the title was made by my editor. …Of course, I thought about it too, but well. Every time I come up with a title, I realize the direction my thought process takes, and I still feel like I need to work on improving it in various ways…
First of all, I’d like to thank the talented Oyamada Ami for the illustrations. The rough character sketches were unexpectedly fitting in a way that was just perfect, and I had the experience of feeling like it really suited the work. I really loved the mood of the cover, which was roughly sketched for me to see. So I’m really looking forward to seeing how the finished book will turn out. Truly, thank you so much.
And as always, I’m deeply grateful to my editor for handling all sorts of things for me. …I’m really sorry every time for the bother. I’m sincerely reflecting on it…
Lastly, to everyone who stuck with me until the end: Thank you very much. I hope you were able to enjoy it, even just a little.
