AITFYMIBP Chapter 81

Temperature

TL: Hua

The room suddenly fell silent. Lin Yanran felt a buzzing in his ears, momentarily unsure of how to respond.

Gu Siye looked down at Lin Yanran, who was lying there obediently, wrapped tightly in his own blanket like a cocoon.

Seeing him shrinking his neck and chin into the covers from the cold, Gu Siye knelt down, unfolded his own blanket, and carefully layered it over the younger man.

After checking for any gaps where a draft might get in, Gu Siye leaned over and tucked the edges of the blankets firmly around Lin Yanran’s shoulders.

With the second blanket added, that leaky, breezy feeling from before vanished instantly. Feeling the heavy, solid weight of the two layers, Lin Yanran didn’t warm up immediately, but psychologically, the chill seemed to retreat.

“Is that better?”

Gu Siye kept his hands near Lin Yanran’s ears, holding the blankets in place. As he leaned down to speak, the distance between them was barely twenty centimeters.

“Better.”

Lin Yanran’s fair neck and the tip of his chin were hidden by the blankets, leaving only his soft, red lips slightly parted as he spoke.

At such a close distance, they looked incredibly… kissable.

Gu Siye steadied his breathing and immediately climbed into the bed.

There had been another pillow laid out next to Lin Yanran’s.

Gu Siye nudged it aside, leaving a gap of nearly ten centimeters between their pillows before lifting a corner of the blankets and slowly sliding in.

His movements were very careful, trying his best not to let the cold air rush in.

Although the blankets provided by the production team weren’t very thick, they were fortunately wide enough. With the two of them lying side-by-side, no one was left uncovered.

However, the room was exceptionally narrow.

After the two lay down, Gu Siye deliberately left a safe distance between them, so his body was already pressed against the wall.

Gu Siye didn’t say anything or move; he just lay there quietly.

With no other sounds in the room, it was eerily still, leaving only the sound of their mutual breathing.

Lin Yanran watched the faint starlight filtering through the window and smelled the fresh scent of body wash coming from beside him. He had been sleepy before, but now he found himself wide awake.

Even though their bodies weren’t touching, he could clearly feel the heat radiating from the man next to him, even across the gap.

Restraining his natural instinct to move toward the heat source, Lin Yanran stared at the ceiling for a while until his eyes finally adjusted to the darkness.

He quietly turned his head and saw the silhouette of Gu Siye’s profile.

He realized the other man wasn’t sleeping either.

“Still cold?”

The moment Lin Yanran moved, a very gentle voice sounded in his ear.

Gu Siye turned his head to face him. “You seem to be shivering.”

Lin Yanran’s body hadn’t warmed up yet, so he was indeed still a bit cold.

Hearing Gu Siye say this, he worried his movements were disturbing the other man’s sleep, so he quickly tried to uncurl and stretch out. “I’m okay; I’m not cold anymore. I’ll warm up once I’ve slept for a bit.”

He then added apologetically, “Brother Gu, am I bothering you?”

“No.” Gu Siye denied it instantly.

Although Gu Siye said that, Lin Yanran still felt that he was actually affecting Gu Siye’s sleep.

To take care of him, Gu Siye had not only given him most of the blankets but had also left that gap in the middle to prevent cold air from slipping in when they turned over.

Because of that space, the man was practically squashed against the wall.

Fearing Gu Siye was uncomfortable, Lin Yanran shifted over a bit to make room. “Brother Gu, is there no space on your side? Do you want to move closer this way?”

Gu Siye closed his eyes, suppressing the urge to agree immediately. After a few seconds, he asked, “It’s fine; I’m perfectly comfortable here.”

After saying that, he saw Lin Yanran deliberately keeping his distance from him and asked somewhat unwillingly, “Are you… not used to us like this?”

This time, Gu Siye didn’t speak with his usual slow, leisurely pace; he spoke a bit quickly.

However, Lin Yanran heard him clearly.

After realizing the other person was asking if he was uncomfortable sharing a bed, he laughed softly. “I’m used to it. In the past, I often slept with my brothers.”

Lin Yanran said “often,” but in reality, it had only happened once.

It was a past camping trip where he had shared a tent with Brother Ye.

However, the space back then was quite wide, and they had slept separately, nowhere near this close.

After Lin Yanran finished speaking, he only heard a lackluster “mm” from Gu Siye, who didn’t follow up with another word.

Assuming Gu Siye was tired, Lin Yanran closed his eyes as well.

Eventually, his biological clock won out, and he fell asleep.

However, he didn’t sleep well.

The space was cramped and not warm enough.

In his dreams, Lin Yanran felt drafts of cold air blowing against his face one after another. He curled into a ball, but it didn’t help much.

Compared to curling up, the only heat source nearby was far more attractive.

Unconsciously, his body began to gravitate toward Gu Siye.

Gu Siye, who was still lost in thought, suddenly felt a warm object roll into his side.

He looked down and found that the sleeping Lin Yanran had rested both hands on his chest. His face, half-tucked into the blanket, nuzzled gently against his shoulder.

The whole person was like a well-behaved, adorable puppy.

Gu Siye hesitated for a moment, but when the other man nudged even closer into his arms, he finally couldn’t hold back.

He cautiously turned on his side and reached out an arm to pull the other man into his embrace, wanting him to sleep more comfortably and warmly.

In his sleep, Lin Yanran immediately caught a scent of fresh lemon. He thought it smelled wonderful and discovered that the scent brought warmth to his body.

So, he instinctively let his body press even closer to this heat source.

As if with a mind of its own, his face buried itself into the crook of the man’s neck, and his chest pressed tightly against the other’s, trying to soak up as much warmth as possible.

Lin Yanran dreamed he had been thrown into a room made of ice and snow. Just as he felt he was about to freeze to death, he accidentally found a warm, soft body pillow.

He hugged this life-saving pillow tightly, wishing he could press his entire frozen body against it. So he lifted his foot, and his smooth, white leg unknowingly rested on Gu Siye’s leg.

Lin Yanran found the temperature very comfortable. He adjusted his calf to the coziest position and stopped moving.

The sound of heavy breathing filled the air.

Gu Siye felt the delicate, smooth skin of the other man rubbing against his pajama pants, making his heart feel as though a thousand tiny insects were crawling over it.

His entire body went stiff for a long time, not daring to move an inch.

Only after the person in his arms was completely and deeply asleep did he dare to lower his gaze and look at that face once more.

The other lay obediently in his arms, like a well-behaved little rabbit at someone’s mercy.

Gu Siye’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down repeatedly; he wanted to take another shower, yet feared waking the person in his arms.

Ultimately, he could only close his eyes and take a deep breath of the freezing air.

The cold air stung his lungs, allowing Gu Siye to barely regain some clarity of mind.

Tonight was destined to be a sleepless one.

In the latter half of the night, having secured a heat source, Lin Yanran drifted into another dream.

He dreamed of that high school camping trip.

In the dream, when Brother Ye slept in the same tent with him, he gently held his shoulders and comforted him, promising to help him find his Ultraman.

“Brother Ye…”

Gu Siye, who had stayed in the same position without sleeping, heard this and thought Lin Yanran had woken up.

He looked down, only to find the person in his arms sleeping soundly and sweetly.

The other’s palm had shifted; no longer resting on his chest, it now gripped the collar of the thermal undershirt Gu Siye was wearing.

Even in his sleep, he seemed afraid of the wind blowing in.

Gu Siye chuckled softly.

“Why the change in address again?”

Lin Yanran didn’t answer.

In the dream, Brother Ye’s face merged once again with Gu Siye’s. Lin Yanran didn’t know why he felt a bit happy, so he murmured, “Mm, Brother Gu.”

6:00 AM.

Gao Zitai was nudged awake by a staff member.

His young master’s temper flared up, but just as he was about to snap, he saw the PD making a shushing gesture and handing him a camera.

The groggy Gao Zitai then remembered that when they chose team uniforms during the day, there had been a blank task card.

The PD had told him before bed last night that he’d be given a secret task this morning: take a camera and perform a surprise raid to film the guests while they were sleeping.

Gao Zitai rubbed his eyes and got out of bed, fighting back sleepiness.

At first, his brain was still in a state of malfunction, not yet activated.

But once he actually had the camera in hand, his sleepiness vanished, replaced by excitement.

He first quietly aimed the lens at Song Zixuan, who was sharing his room.

“Look at this sleeping posture, everyone; doesn’t he look like a toad?”

Gao Zitai showed his old classmate zero mercy, snapping away at Song Zixuan, who was forced to sleep on his hands and knees due to the cramped space.

After recording his friend’s embarrassing state to his heart’s content, Gao Zitai covered his mouth and left the room, satisfied.

“Who’s next?” Gao Zitai asked his PD. “I don’t really dare film the girls. How about we go film Yanran?”

With that, Gao Zitai led the PD toward Lin Yanran’s room with great delight.

At the door, he pointed at the room with a grin and began the intro: “This is where Yanran is sleeping. Now, we’re going to do a surprise raid and see what Teacher Yanran looks like when he’s asleep.”

Then, Gao Zitai opened the door and tiptoed inside.
