Chapter 16: Happiness
[Explosion! Save me!!]
[Is the retirement also because of the marriage?]
There was no need to hide this. Yu Qingtang said, “Yes.”
[Ahhh ahhh noooo!]
[Wuwuwu I can’t live without you!]
[How will I survive without you!]
Yu Qingtang: “Alright, darlings, calm down. I’ve mentioned it before.”
“I don’t want this to feel like a life-or-death separation. I hope to receive everyone’s blessings.”
[But we’re still so sad to see you go.]
[Master will finally be with someone.]
After the bullet comments gradually subsided, Nianjiang spoke. “Um, may I ask what kind of person Brother Qingfeng’s husband is?”
“He’s not in the industry, and he has nothing to do with this circle,” Yu Qingtang said. “But my husband is a very good person.”
“Wow, that’s great! Big Brother Qingfeng, may you be happy forever!”
Yu Qingtang: “Thank you, Niannian.”
[Wishing Master Qingfeng a happy marriage.]
[Though we hate to see you go, please be happy!]
[Master Qingfeng, be happy in the real world.]
[Don’t forget about us.]
“Thank you, everyone. The same goes to you. I wish you all happiness.”
Thanks to Yu Qingtang’s official announcement, the live stream’s popularity surged, and the PK battle ended with a value of sixty million.
After saying goodbye and ending the stream, Yu Qingtang remembered his earlier promise. He sent a private message to Nian Jiang, attaching his WeChat account number.
Not long after, an incoming friend request popped up on his phone.
[Brother Qingfeng, I’m Niannian.]
Yu Qingtang accepted the request and replied with a voice message, “Niannian, I was very happy today. It’s great to meet you.”
He habitually clicked into Moments. The other party did not seem to have set any privacy restrictions against him, and his personal homepage was filled with colorful daily life updates.
Yu Qingtang noticed that the landmark locations in the photos were almost all in Yangcheng.
In the Moments feed, there were high school notebooks, university library cards, Siamese and British Shorthair cats from a cat café, as well as iced grape juice and a round Duffy Bear water bottle, filled with various snippets of life.
Finally, Yu Qingtang stopped at a set of photos.
In the first one, Yu Nian was wearing a flowing costume, dancing gracefully on stage. In the second, he was wearing a clean T-shirt, holding a large bouquet of white roses, and flashing a peace sign.
The photos didn’t cover his face. When he smiled, his eyelashes clustered together, making him look like a doll displayed in a toy store that everyone who saw it would want to hug.
Yu Qingtang exited the photos and shook his head helplessly.
This child has no sense of security, letting netizens casually peek into his life.
A new message notification came through.
Niannian: [I’m also very happy! I’m so glad to meet Brother Qingfeng! /Little bear scattering flowers]
Yu Qingtang watched the animated image for a while. Even the emoji was so interesting and lively.
After exchanging a few simple greetings, Yu Qingtang sent a voice message: “Little brother, let’s chat another day. I have to go out this afternoon. Bye-bye.”
Niannian: [Okay, okay, Brother Qingfeng, bye-bye! /Little bear waving]
Immediately after, another message came in.
Niannian: [Um, Brother Qingfeng, can I ask one question? /Little bear with fingers together]
[Go ahead.]
[Are you going out with your husband? /Little bear sneaking a laugh]
Yu Qingtang smiled. Little gossipmonger.
He happily replied: [Yes.]

After finishing the study meeting, Xu Baizhang stayed in the lounge until mid-morning. The phone screen was black after the live stream ended, but the words he liked still echoed in his ears.
“I’m getting married.”
“I hope to receive everyone’s blessings.”
“My husband is a very good person.”
Husband.
My husband.
It took great effort for Xu Baizhang to completely suppress his smile. He took off his earphones and was about to make a call when he coincidentally saw the person he was looking for.
“Songsheng, are you busy?”
Liang Songsheng stopped and turned around. “I’m not busy.”
Xu Baizhang noticed his demeanor. “Are you in a bad mood?”
“I’m fine.” Liang Songsheng pinched the bridge of his nose. “What is it?”
“I want to ask for your advice. What should I prepare before getting the marriage certificate?”
Liang Songsheng: “Tomorrow?”
Xu Baizhang: “This afternoon.”
“Congratulations.” Liang Songsheng was happy for him, and his expression looked much better. “I thought you’d ask Zhong Yan.”
His ideas are always more numerous.
Xu Baizhang: “You have a fiancé, so you’re more experienced than him. He still has a long way to go.”
Liang Songsheng scoffed that his own situation was also far off, but he seriously considered the question. “If I were you, I’d prepare a bouquet of white roses.”

Yu Qingtang stood in front of the mirror tying his tie. His phone had a message from his parents urging him ten minutes ago.
He checked the time; it was still early.
His parents were always more anxious than him.
After straightening his shirt, he took out his suit jacket. The outfits had been discussed beforehand: the same custom-made style, with Xu Baizhang in black and him in white.
A message came through on his phone.
Xu Baizhang: [I’ve arrived, waiting for you downstairs.]
[Okay, I’m coming now.]
Today was not only an auspicious day chosen by his mother but also a rare sunny day. As the golden elevator slowly opened, the man before him looked like a newly framed oil painting.
A dark suit with a tie, narrow-rimmed gold-framed glasses; it seemed no matter how long he looked, he wouldn’t tire of it. But appearance was always secondary; what mattered most was that their two hearts were stuck together.
It was a great day, and there was an endless stream of couples getting their marriage certificates. There were many staff members on duty, so they didn’t have to wait for too long. Filling out the form, taking the photo, stamping the certificate, and making the vows were all done in one go.
Yu Qingtang, sucking on the celebratory candy handed over by the registrar, looked through the marriage certificate the entire time, while Xu Baizhang opened the car door for him. While his gaze lingered on their photos in the certificate, Yu Qingtang reminisced about the entire process of obtaining their marriage certificate. People often say that the most emotional moment is during the vows and marriage registration, but for Yu Qingtang, it was during the photo shoot that his emotions were most intense.
At first, they sat far apart, and the photographer gestured at the camera. Before Yu Qingtang could react, his right waist was tightened by an external force, and the two were instantly pressed close together.
The hand wrapped around his waist only left once the photo shoot was over. It had been a tight embrace, the palm scorching hot, and he could feel the pressure of the knuckles.
Yu Qingtang looked at his own slightly reddened face, then at the composed and exceptionally handsome Xu Baizhang.
For the first time, he realized how easily he blushed.
He closed the certificate and touched the spot on his waist that had been held.
For such a commemorative day, a little flush was okay.
Yu Qingtang turned to the empty driver’s seat.
Strange, where was Baizhang?
Just as he was about to get out of the car, Xu Baizhang pulled the door open and sat in, bringing a large bouquet of fresh flowers with him.
Yu Qingtang was both surprised and delighted. “Why the sudden flowers?”
“We’re getting married, so there should be some ceremony.” Xu Baizhang placed the fragrant bouquet into his arms. “I consulted a friend, and he suggested I give you a bouquet of white roses.”
Yu Qingtang: “Doctor Zhong?”
Xu Baizhang: “No, it was Songsheng.”
“Oh, Doctor Liang is very romantic too.”
The language of white roses is purity, innocence, romance, and respect.
Yu Qingtang remembered that Yu Nian’s Moments also had white roses. He looked down at his own flowers. “But there doesn’t seem to be a white rose here…”
Suddenly realizing what was happening, Yu Qingtang’s heart pounded wildly. “Is this bouquet made from the flowers on the balcony?”
Xu Baizhang nodded. “Compared to the white roses from a flower shop, I prefer to personally arrange a bunch to give to you.”
Xu Baizhang’s home balcony was as vibrant and colorful as a flower shop.
He asked, “Do you like it?”
Yu Qingtang: “I love it very much.”
However many kinds of flowers bloomed on the balcony, that’s how many were in his arms. It was a very large bouquet, wrapped in brown-yellow kraft paper. Closer up, he could even smell a faint medicinal scent on the paper.
Xu Baizhang was captivated by his smile, wanting to hide him in a crystal box. “The house didn’t have pretty colored paper, and I felt this was very suitable.”
Yu Qingtang: “It is very suitable, better than colored paper.”
The flowers were in full bloom and didn’t need any superfluous packaging or embellishment. Yu Qingtang was proud and satisfied; he had cared for and watered these flowers, so he also had a share in this beauty.
Yu Qingtang brought his nose close to the cluster of flowers. “Although I like it, I feel a little regretful.”
They were originally growing in flowerpots.
“Even if they weren’t trimmed, the flowers would wilt in a few days. Perhaps they’d rather be in a vase in your bedroom,” Xu Baizhang said. “Of course, the life of a plant is an endless cycle, and the other flower buds will still bloom tomorrow.”
Yu Qingtang had the same idea: “We need to buy more vases later.”
To bring them home and place them on the coffee table, the bedside, and the sunny windowsill.
Xu Baizhang watched him struggle to hold the massive bouquet. “I didn’t expect so many would be blooming today. I should have cut fewer.”
“No, it’s perfect.” Yu Qingtang held the flowers tighter. “Thank you for blooming for us today.”
Yu Qingtang: “I really hope we can buy a house with a very large balcony to plant more flowers, different families, and different genera, so they can bloom in rotation all year round and keep the balcony bright every day.”
Xu Baizhang said, “The house I found a couple of days ago meets the requirements perfectly. Want to go take a look?”
Yu Qingtang couldn’t wait. “Sure, should we go now?”
“We can.” Xu Baizhang helped him fasten his seatbelt and was about to start the car. “Oh, right, I forgot to say something.”
Yu Qingtang wrapped his fingers around the cotton thread used to wrap the flowers. “What is it?”
“Qingtang, happy wedding day.”
The vibrant flowers contrasted beautifully with his clear, bright face, as if all the beauty in the world was right before his eyes.
“Happy wedding day, Mr. Xu.”
