ISWMQ – Chapter 125

Chacha didn’t have much luggage.

Rong Guang had specifically driven there, but after they finished moving, not counting the two thick winter mattresses for now, all of Chacha’s belongings surprisingly fit into a single small suitcase.

She didn’t have many miscellaneous items. Her toiletries were the most basic set, as simple as a camp bed.

Rong Guang watched for a long time, unable to connect this Chacha with the little hamster from before who loved to hide things in her bed.

In the car, she couldn’t help but ask.

Chacha thought for a moment and said matter-of-factly, “That place isn’t home. A lot of people live together, and good things you hide will get lost. I don’t hide my things outside.”

“Then where did you put all your things?” Rong Guang couldn’t help but laugh.

Chacha didn’t have many treasures, but she had a bit of everything.

Even something as small as a sticker someone gave her for her birthday could be her treasure.

Chacha’s eyes glinted slightly. She shared her secret with Rong Guang without any reservations, saying, “In the abandoned old campus. I hid them in a classroom on the top floor with a broken lock—that’s my secret base now.”

Rong Guang then patted her head and said with a smile, “Then you can slowly move all your treasures back to our home. Your Sister Chu is helping you tidy up your room. She’s decorated it in blue for you. You’ll like it.”

“The kind of blue like Doraemon?” Chacha tilted her head.

“A little lighter than that,” Rong Guang thought for a moment. “But the bed is the same color.”

Chacha was very satisfied with that.

She nodded, shaking her head contentedly, and said, “Okay.”

Rong Guang drove back home.

Before she left, Chu Feiliang had actually almost gone with her. She said it was a great opportunity to show her face, so that all the kids at Chacha’s school would know her identity.

But Rong Guang managed to hold her back with much persuasion.

So, Chu Feiliang, whose wish hadn’t been granted, channeled her disappointment into energy and started tidying up Chacha’s room. As Rong Guang thought about Chu Feiliang’s enthusiastic appearance, she glanced at Chacha again while getting out of the car.

The bright red lipstick and monkey-butt blush her grandma had applied to Chacha were still fresh in her mind… Rong Guang took a deep breath, gave Chacha a smile that was both sympathetic and gentle, and said, “Come on, this is our home from now on.”

Like a little puppy, Chacha went off to inspect her new home as usual.

Rong Guang had long known about Chacha’s habit. Every time she arrived at a new place, Chacha would first wander around, and then wander around several more times, not stopping until she was sure she had seen every spot and completely understood it.

Chu Feiliang saw that Chacha hadn’t come upstairs and didn’t mind, asking, “Why the sudden decision to transfer Chacha to a new school?”

For the time being, Rong Guang couldn’t tell Chu Feiliang too much about the reasons behind it—she didn’t know where to start, as it had been too long ago.

After thinking for a moment, Rong Guang revealed a part of it, only mentioning her stepfather. She said, “My stepfather’s niece goes to that school. I don’t want him to have too much contact with Chacha… He knows Chacha.”

Even if Li Mingming hadn’t mentioned Chacha’s existence for the time being, they were, after all, in the same class and even the same dorm room.

This was something Rong Guang had only discovered when she went to pack Chacha’s things today.

This made the situation even more dangerous.

Even though men couldn’t enter the girls’ dormitory building, it was still a school dorm, and the management wasn’t as strict as one might imagine. If it was a student’s parent, they could still go in as long as the student led them.

The school had no right to interfere with students bringing their parents in.

This was also why Rong Guang had immediately moved Chacha out of the dorm as soon as the weekend arrived.

Chu Feiliang paused, then slowly responded, “I understand.”

Rong Guang looked at her, leaned closer, and said, “Actually, ‘stepfather’ is just a title—he and my mom aren’t legally married. I just call him that to distinguish him from others. In reality, he’s a stranger to me. You don’t need to pay him much mind.”

Chu Feiliang chuckled. “Mm, I know.”

However, the hand she had propped on the table didn’t match the relaxed expression on her face.

Chu Feiliang’s thumb rubbed against the tablecloth, the look in her eyes flickering, but her gaze passed through the first-floor French window and landed on Chacha, who was playing with water by the small swimming pool outside.

She suddenly asked, “How old is Chacha this year?”

Rong Guang said, “She’s already fifteen. After her birthday next year, she’ll be sixteen… a young adult.”

Unconsciously, Chacha was already turning sixteen.

Rong Guang belatedly began to feel a bit worried. Although sixteen wasn’t a particularly significant age milestone, Chacha’s current behavior was still like that of a child.

She was smart, but her ways of dealing with the world and interacting with people were still stuck in her childhood.

It was fine for now, but what about when Chacha was in her twenties, or even her thirties?

Seeing Rong Guang’s slightly worried expression, Chu Feiliang suddenly said, “Chacha might be better suited for a laboratory.”

Rong Guang said, “What?”

“Nothing—I was just saying it offhandedly.” Chu Feiliang said with a smile, “It’s just that, given Chacha’s current situation, have you had her tested? I’m just guessing, of course. After all, the probability of savant syndrome is too small; it’s hard to find many examples in the whole world. But Chacha is very smart. She hasn’t had any systematic schooling, yet she can learn the entire high school curriculum just by following online courses at home. Even if she’s heavily skewed towards certain subjects, this kind of talent is already remarkable among ordinary people.”

Hearing this, Rong Guang fell into deep thought.

She looked at Chacha outside, who was playing with the water but had suddenly stopped moving. Startled, she opened the door, walked out, and called from a distance, “Chacha?”

Chacha turned her head, extended her hand with a somewhat dazed expression, and said, “Sister Guangguang, my hand hurts.”

Rong Guang didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

The weather in March wasn’t cold anymore, but it definitely couldn’t be called hot either.

The water in this small pool outside had been collected after Chu Feiliang had someone clean the swimming pool in the last two days. It couldn’t be considered dirty, but it definitely wasn’t clean. But playing with water in this weather would indeed make one’s hands cold.

She touched Chacha’s hand and said, “Playing with water in this weather will make your hands cold.”

Listening to this sound, Chacha slowly said “oh,” and then, “Why does that sound so familiar… Sister Guangguang, I feel a little dizzy.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Chacha took a deep breath, lunged out of Rong Guang’s arms, and, with a ‘wah’ sound, leaned against a tree in the yard and threw up.

Rong Guang was immediately thrown into a flurry. However, after drinking a few sips of water, Chacha seemed to feel much better, and her eyes regained their clarity.

She looked at Rong Guang, blinked, and said, “I’m not dizzy anymore. I remember now. It seems like when I was little, my mom told me not to play with water in the winter—she also said I almost fell into the bathtub and drowned in winter, and I had a very high fever after being pulled out.”

Rong Guang was taken aback and said hesitantly, “…Okay, you should sleep some more.”

So Chacha hugged the Doraemon Rong Guang had placed by her pillow and fell into a fragrant sleep. Her sleeping face was serene, full of innocence and childishness.

Rong Guang and Chu Feiliang left the bedroom.

Seeing Rong Guang’s somewhat pensive look, Chu Feiliang poured her a glass of warm water and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Rong Guang’s brows were furrowed. She said, “Chacha’s parents passed away a long time ago. I’ve never seen them for as long as I can remember… It was always Chacha’s grandfather who raised her. The Li family’s living conditions were very poor, even going to school was difficult. How could they have had a bathtub…”

“Maybe she remembered it wrong,” Chu Feiliang said, also a bit uncertain.

Chacha could be wrong about anything, but not her memory.

However, thinking about these things was useless right now, and meaningless.

Rong Guang shook her head and said, “Let’s not worry about this for now—Sister, I have to go out for a couple of days to take care of something. You…”

Chu Feiliang looked at her quietly.

Rong Guang’s face was a little red. She looked at the connected rooms here on the second floor and said, “I… I put all my things in the room next to yours.”

Chu Feiliang crossed her arms, waiting for what Rong Guang would say next.

Rong Guang fidgeted with her fingers and said, a little embarrassed, “I often get home very late. You finally have a month to rest, and I don’t want to disturb your sleep.”

Chu Feiliang said, “So you have the heart to leave me alone in an empty room?”

Rong Guang’s face turned even redder.

Chu Feiliang stroked her chin and said, “I wasn’t planning on things progressing so quickly—after all, we just made it official. I was thinking of taking it slow, to avoid scaring you if things got heated. Turns out you’re this impatient yourself? You want to live with me so badly you can’t even wait a month?”

Rong Guang stood there dumbfounded, her mouth agape, unable to speak for a long time.

After a while, she finally said, “That’s not what I meant…”

Chu Feiliang finally nodded reluctantly and muttered to herself, “I get it. Since you’re worried about disturbing my rest, you don’t want to sleep with me—what about our daily kisses then? Should I climb into your bed to kiss you? Do you lock your door when you sleep at night? Leave me a key? It would be bad if Chacha heard me knocking on your door at night.”

In the end, Rong Guang was so flustered by Chu Feiliang’s words that she could only stammer, “I don’t have a key…”

“Oh, I forgot.” Chu Feiliang patted her head as if she’d had an epiphany, then grinned at Rong Guang. “I have a key.”

Rong Guang looked at her with watery eyes.

Chu Feiliang looked at those eyes, couldn’t resist giving her a kiss, then pinned Rong Guang against the wall, wrapped an arm around her waist, and said softly, “Then you’d better be careful at night. I don’t know when my ‘illness’ will act up and I’ll have to launch a night raid on you.”

The proximity between them, so close she could feel her own breath, made it hard for Rong Guang to breathe. Her throat instantly became a little dry and hoarse. She said, “I… when I sleep…”

“You’re a heavy sleeper,” Chu Feiliang chuckled softly. “I know.”

However, Chu Feiliang slowly placed a kiss on the corner of Rong Guang’s lips and said, “That’s why I’m telling you to be careful when you sleep at night, baby.”

The word “baby” made Rong Guang’s heart race. Before she could even react, she had already gripped Chu Feiliang’s sleeve tightly.

Rong Guang looked up at the towering Chu Feiliang, bit her lip, and her gaze fell on Chu Feiliang’s rosy lips. She couldn’t help but swallow before mustering up the courage to say, “I… I’ll be waiting for you then.”
