ISWMQ – Chapter 123

Rong Guang’s hesitant gaze fell and met Chu Feiliang’s on the other side of the camera.

Rong Guang’s lips moved twice. Her fingers involuntarily picked at the white bedsheets as she whispered, “Nine yuan… is that what I think it is…?”

“What are you thinking of?” Chu Feiliang smiled slowly. Her voice, clear even through the screen, reached Rong Guang’s ears. She propped up her chin, coaxing the little kid, “Tell me, let’s see if we’re thinking of the same thing.”

Rong Guang pressed her lips together, bringing some color and life back to them. Her spirits also seemed to lift considerably. Her eyes flickered as she said, “It’s… that, the mar-marriage certificate…”

Chu Feiliang laughed out loud.

When her slightly hoarse, gentle laughter came from the phone, Rong Guang felt her entire body flush with heat.

“Correct.” Chu Feiliang laughed for a moment, her eyes curving as she said, “Too bad, there’s no prize.”

Lying on her stomach for so long was a bit tiring. Rong Guang shifted her arms, placed a throw pillow under her body, and changed her position. She didn’t forget to retort to Chu Feiliang, “There is a prize.”

“What prize?”

This time, Rong Guang couldn’t help but laugh along. No matter how you looked at it, it was a small, secret joy. “The marriage certificate is the best prize… I’ll pay the nine yuan. Sister, I’ll pay for it. I’m more than willing to pay.”

Chu Feiliang stared at Rong Guang for a while before realizing that just looking at her seemed to make one’s mood brighten.

She grumbled, a little annoyed, “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have let you go back…”

Rong Guang didn’t hear clearly. She blinked and moved closer, saying, “What?”

“Nothing.” Chu Feiliang frowned, one foot tapping restlessly on the floor.

She had Rong Guang’s upcoming schedule right beside her and knew that Rong Guang had really squeezed out time to come see her.

Normally, her coursework wasn’t too demanding for Rong Guang; she could even manage everything quite well. But that time was too fragmented. She could do small things, even watch a movie.

But to travel a long distance to see her… she could, but it would be too exhausting.

Her situation was similar to Rong Guang’s. The time she could squeeze out was also fragmented. Compared to the more than four-hour drive, the little time she could free up was almost negligible.

Chu Feiliang sighed, glanced at Rong Guang with a smile, and said, “Get some rest.”

Rong Guang nodded.

Before hanging up, she couldn’t resist asking one more thing, “Sister, you… did you mean what you just said?”

The curve of Chu Feiliang’s lips widened as she feigned ignorance, “What did I say?”

“The nine yuan.” Rong Guang knew when to be bold. Without mincing words, she said directly, “The marriage certificate—if I pay, will you go with me?”

“Of course.” Chu Feiliang nodded magnanimously. “I always mean what I say.”

This time, Rong Guang finally said goodbye to Chu Feiliang happily.

They were both very busy, and time slipped away unnoticed.

Once the New Year passed, B City, a city predominantly populated by migrant workers, began to return to its usual hustle and bustle. Cars streamed back and forth on the roads. Rong Guang drove carefully, taking Xu Mingli to begin her journey back to her hometown.

Chacha needed to go back to sweep the graves of her family’s elders, so she went with Xu Mingli this time.

Rong Guang saw them off at the station and then had to head back to school.

Although she was on winter break, the backlog of company courses seemed endless. Rong Guang was swamped every day. Finally, at the end of the year, she received news that the entire cast and crew of The Eldest Princess were about to wrap up filming completely.

That night, without a second thought, Rong Guang was already on her way to the film set.

That same evening, she arrived on set.

The main actors were always the last to wrap up. Several rounds of celebration banquets had already been held. Photos had been taken, things had been packed, and a festive atmosphere filled the entire crew.

Even though the New Year had passed, the one everyone spent on set was happy and fulfilling. Several hundred people had rented out an entire hot pot restaurant, which was quite a grand affair.

The weather at the end of February was still very cold. When Rong Guang finally stood shivering at Chu Feiliang’s door, even the tips of her hair were damp with dew that hadn’t dried.

The hotel’s heating was strong. Rong Guang warmed up for a moment before knocking on the door.

The sound of a door opening came quickly from inside. The person who opened it was Yan Congxue.

Rong Guang blinked and peeked into the room. Yan Congxue had already stepped aside to let her in, saying, “Come in. Xiao Chu is resting right now. Since you’re here, I’ll be leaving. I’ll leave her in your care.”

Rong Guang nodded, watching as Yan Congxue gathered her things and left.

The things in Chu Feiliang’s room hadn’t been put away or tidied up; it looked just as it had when Rong Guang last left.

Counting the days, aside from video calls, the two of them hadn’t truly seen each other in nearly two months…

A flicker of nervousness suddenly rose in Rong Guang.

She waited outside for a moment, then heard the bathroom door open. Chu Feiliang, enveloped in steam, stood at the doorway tidying her hair. When she saw Rong Guang, she paused for only a brief moment before walking towards her.

Rong Guang grew even more nervous and shot up from the sofa.

Chu Feiliang wrapped the towel around her hair, sat down on the sofa, poured a glass of water, and took a couple of sips before saying, “Just arrived? Why didn’t you call me first?”

Rong Guang answered truthfully, “I only got the news that filming was wrapping up early after my class ended this afternoon, so I came straight here… My phone is dead.”

She had come suddenly, right after finishing her work, without any time to pack.

Chu Feiliang nodded. After a few more sips of water, she seemed to feel a bit better. She propped her head on one hand and stared intently at Rong Guang for a while.

Rong Guang subconsciously stood a little straighter.

Chu Feiliang broke into a smile. “You right now, don’t you look just like you did when you first saw me?”

Back then, Rong Guang had also been tense, like a child being lectured by the dean, her face a mixture of anticipation and apprehension. Her entire being screamed the words ‘I am very nervous’.

But despite her nervousness, Rong Guang was still just as dazzling.

Rong Guang sat back down and said softly, “I… I don’t remember what I was like back then.”

At that time, her mind was completely filled with Chu Feiliang. How could she have paid any attention to herself? It was hard enough just to maintain her composure.

Chu Feiliang caught her underlying meaning and deliberately said, “Oh, so your mind was completely on me back then, was it?”

Rong Guang blushed but still nodded.

Chu Feiliang covered the lower half of her face with one hand, her fingers pinching her bottom lip with a bit of force, barely managing to hide the smile she could no longer contain.

She found this version of Rong Guang unbelievably cute.

She was clearly dying of embarrassment when teased like this, yet she didn’t hide anything. She answered whatever was asked, so honest… it made one want to keep teasing her forever.

Chu Feiliang couldn’t resist teasing her further, “And now? Is your mind still full of me?”

Rong Guang nodded again. She looked like she wanted to say something but didn’t. Finally, she mumbled a few words softly, “Don’t you already know…”

It had only been two months.

And look how shy she’s become.

Chu Feiliang found it incredibly precious. Rong Guang was just too cute.

She finally opened her arms, leaning back on the sofa, her eyes curving as she said, “Then hurry up and give me a hug—did you think you were the only one with unrequited feelings? I missed you too—” Rong Guang had already stood up from the sofa after hearing the first half of the sentence.

By the second half, she was already snuggling with Chu Feiliang on the sofa.

They hugged each other. Rong Guang was like a puppy reunited with its owner after a long time, her head constantly nuzzling against Chu Feiliang’s neck.

Chu Feiliang let her nuzzle. When it tickled, she would nuzzle Rong Guang back to scratch the itch. After a while, she kissed Rong Guang’s forehead, held her tighter, feeling that warm, soft, and delicate touch. One hand unconsciously stroked Rong Guang’s waist as she said with a smile, “We can leave tomorrow. After we get back to B City, you can rest well for a while.”

Rong Guang bobbed her head up and down and said, “Okay.”

In reality, Chu Feiliang wouldn’t be able to rest for more than a few days.

The Lover was scheduled to start filming in April, but most of the actors—especially the leads—had to join the crew more than ten days in advance to prepare.

Modern dramas weren’t as complicated as historical or xianxia dramas, but when it came to the main characters’ professions, Rong Guang was fine, being used to the role of a student. However, Chu Feiliang would probably need to communicate more with the director in advance about how to portray a complex character who was a cold, domineering CEO on the surface but actually a bewitching bar owner.

Moreover, The Lover was a movie, a modern arthouse film, so the shooting schedule wasn’t long. Plus, The Lover didn’t have many post-production special effects, and the crew had already started setting up the scenes several months in advance.

With a cash cow like Big Dipper, there was no need to worry about problems with the sets.

Rong Guang was very confident in the film The Lover.

Chu Feiliang held her for a while, then suddenly asked, “How is Zaixiang now?”

Rong Guang answered instinctively, “He’s at home—I prepared three days’ worth of dog food and water on the little platform, so don’t worry.”

Chu Feiliang chuckled softly. “Speaking of which…”

Rong Guang looked up at her. She saw Chu Feiliang lower her head, kiss her, and then say slowly, “You’ve already moved in, haven’t you?”

Rong Guang belatedly nodded, a blush rising on her face. She said, “Mmm… after I saw Grandma off, I checked out of my place…”

“How’s the house looking?” Chu Feiliang teased her.

Rong Guang thought for a moment and picked out the key points. “I didn’t change much, just tidied up some of the soft furnishings… the sofa cover and things like that. You used to use a minimalist color scheme, all black, white, and gray. It looked too depressing.”

“I’ll listen to you.” Chu Feiliang imagined what it looked like after Rong Guang had decorated it, smiled, and said, “I was originally going to tidy it up myself, but then I thought my tastes might not be to your liking…”

Rong Guang hesitated. Thinking of Chu Feiliang’s closet full of mostly pink clothes, where even the sizes made it obvious who they were for, she fell silent.

She felt that Chu Feiliang’s tastes had become a bit strange.

And she was always thinking about dressing her up. After dressing her up, she always liked to kiss, hug, and touch her.

Chu Feiliang didn’t know what Rong Guang was thinking. She just said with a hint of regret, “I wonder if you saw that closet of clothes I prepared for you…”

Rong Guang paused and chose to remain silent.

After a moment, she mustered her courage and said, “I… I didn’t see it.”

“If you didn’t see it, then forget it.” Chu Feiliang sounded a little regretful, then, seeing Rong Guang’s obvious look of relief, she said cheerfully, “Anyway, when The Lover starts filming, I’ll have plenty of time to dress you up. All your props in the movie were bought with my own money. You’ll have to try on a few more outfits then, you hear?”

Rong Guang: “…”
