Song Li had a terrible impression of Gao Ming to begin with, so he couldn’t bring himself to feel any interest in his speech either.
Xu Shanshan, on the other hand, was thoroughly enjoying herself, occasionally sneaking out her phone to snap a few pictures of the man onstage.
To be completely fair, Gao Ming was quite captivating when delivering a speech; after all, he was a man who genuinely possessed real capability. The only issue was that Song Li’s first impression of him was so poor that now everything about him felt awkward to look at.
Having endured nearly an hour sitting as if on pins and needles, with the speech showing no sign of ending, Song Li really couldn’t take it anymore. He leaned over to whisper to Xu Shanshan that he was going to the restroom, secretly planning to make a getaway.
Fortunately, he was sitting right by the aisle, so slipping out through the back row with light steps didn’t draw much attention. Keeping his head down, he jogged all the way outside. The moment he took a breath of the fresh air, he immediately felt much more at ease.
The bursts of applause inside the auditorium could still be heard from here. Song Li curled his lip, planning to pay a visit to the restroom first.
By the time he returned to the office, it was almost half-past five; school would end in just a bit. Sitting in his chair, Song Li stretched out his back. Having been away from work for so long, sitting in the office for this many hours all at once truly made him feel a bit tired.
Halfway through his stretch, the office door was suddenly pushed open from the outside. Their department head walked in with a hurried look, clearly thrilled upon seeing that he was still there, “Teacher Song, thank goodness you haven’t left yet! Come with me quickly, someone wants to see you!”
Song Li was puzzled, “Director, who wants to see me?”
“A big figure, specifically asked to see you by name! Don’t dawdle, come along, hurry, hurry!”
With his urging, Song Li got to his feet. But halfway to the door, a sudden sense of unease crept into his heart, “Director, the big figure you’re talking about… couldn’t be the one who came to our school today…”
Before he could finish his sentence, the department head walking ahead had already opened the conference room door, looking at the person inside with a flattering smile, “Mr. Gao, I’ve brought Teacher Song over.”
Song Li halted his tracks. Sure enough, whatever he feared most came right at him.
Seeing that the person behind hadn’t followed along, the department head looked back at him and waved him over, “Teacher Song, come over quickly!”
Song Li really didn’t want to go in, yet he couldn’t leave the director without a face. With a resigned sigh, he dragged his feet forward. The department head leaned closer and whispered to him, “This gentleman is our school’s biggest sponsor this year! For some reason, right after the speech ended, he suddenly asked to see you specifically. Be careful with what you say when you meet him, and whatever you do, don’t upset him, understand?”
Song Li gave a bitter smile, “I understand, Director.”
Once Song Li walked in, the department head closed the door behind him. In the vast conference room, only he and Gao Ming remained.
Gao Ming was standing opposite the honor wall, looking at the framed medals and awards. Even with his back turned to him, his tall figure still projected a strong, oppressive aura.
Song Li bit the bullet and called out to him, “Mr. Gao.”
Gao Ming turned around as if he had just realized Song Li had walked in with a hint of pleasant surprise on his face. “Xiao Song, it really is you.”
Song Li smiled faintly. “I work at this school.”
Gao Ming nodded. “Just now, I caught a glimpse of your name on the teacher check-in sheet by chance. I was thinking how there could be such a coincidence, but it really turns out to be one.”
Song Li couldn’t bring himself to smile properly. “It is quite a coincidence.”
Gao Ming looked at him for a moment, walked over to the adjacent sofa, and sat down. “Why are you standing so far away? I can barely hear you.”
As he spoke, he patted the empty spot beside him. “Come sit over here.”
Song Li glanced at the spot he patted, gave a slight smile, and asked, “Mr. Gao specifically asked the director to call me over. Is there something I can help you with?”
Seeing that he didn’t move, Gao Ming didn’t push further. He crossed his legs, leaned back against the sofa, and looked up at him. “Why call me Mr. Gao? Weren’t you calling me Brother Ming that night? Why are you being so distant after just a few days?”
Song Li suppressed the discomfort in his heart. “After all, we are at school right now. It’s more appropriate to call you Mr. Gao.”
Gao Ming raised an eyebrow. “I took a tour around your school today. The school is well designed, with pleasant surroundings, and its teaching staff ranks among the best in the city. However, its facilities and infrastructure still have room for improvement. My visit today is just to get a sense of the situation. If appropriate, I might donate a swimming pool or something to the school or perhaps upgrade and renovate the gymnasium. College students nowadays live in environments that are too comfortable; everything is great, except they lack physical exercise. Xiao Song, what do you think?”
Looking at the smile on his face, Song Li recalled what the department director had instructed him earlier. He clenched his fists, endured it, and replied with a smile, “Brother Ming is right.”
Gao Ming seemed satisfied. Resting his arm on the back of the couch, his gaze unreservedly landed on Song Li’s face and body.
“Xiao Song, you’ve been married to Mu Yan for a while now, so you probably understand his personality. My brother has plenty of good qualities, but he’s just too cold. He barely ever smiles, and I doubt he knows the first thing about romance or how to be considerate, either. You’re so shy and gentle, Xiao Song. Being with someone like him, you must have had to put up with a lot.”
Song Li’s expression remained unchanged. “The two of us get along very well. Thank you for your concern, Brother Ming.”
Gao Ming smiled, his gaze shifting downward to Song Li’s hanging hands, raising an eyebrow playfully. “What did I tell you? Muyan really is a blockhead. You two are already legally married, yet he hasn’t even bought you a wedding ring? I know you’re both men, Xiao Song, but marriage is still a major milestone. There should at least be some sense of ceremony. You don’t even have a ring, how is that acceptable?”
Song Li was stunned by his words for a few seconds. He looked down at his own hands; all ten fingers were completely bare, showing no sign of ever having worn a ring.
If Gao Ming hadn’t suddenly brought it up, he probably wouldn’t have even realized it.
Gao Ming looked at his expression and smiled again, saying, “It’s just a ring, how much could it cost anyway? I’ll bring it up to Muyan later and tell him to make it up to you right away.”
Song Li glanced at him, his smile somewhat unnatural. “There’s no need. Thank you, Brother Ming.”
Gao Ming stood up, walked over, and patted his shoulder. “It’s not really my place to meddle in the affairs of you two husbands. I just feel bad for you. Muyan doesn’t know how to treasure someone, it really is a pity for you to be with him.”
It wasn’t that Song Li was overthinking it, but these words sounded genuinely ambiguous and inappropriate. Frowning slightly, he stepped aside to avoid his hand.
Gao Ming didn’t mind either. He pulled his hand back with a chuckle and said, “I have a dinner party tonight, and Muyan will be going too. If he comes home dead drunk tonight, don’t get mad at him.”
Song Li pulled at the corner of his lips. “I won’t.”
After the two of them stepped out of the conference room, the department director, who had been waiting nearby, immediately came up to greet them. He was beyond attentive to Gao Ming, terrified that the slightest lapse in hospitality might cause this god of wealth to fly away.
Song Li wasn’t in the mood to listen to what they were saying and went back to his office alone. The other teachers had already left after work. Thinking about Gao Ming mentioning that He Muyan was attending a dinner party tonight, Song Li suddenly didn’t want to go home either. He sat in his chair and dazed out for a while before pulling out his phone to send a message to Xue Sang.
Xue Sang was currently living with Ye Yi. After moving in together, he had given up his small, rented apartment. Now that someone took care of all his meals and drinks every day, and he could come home to hugs and kisses that wash away the exhaustion of an entire day’s work, it was practically a life fit for an immortal.
Song Li drove over to Ye Yi’s place, buying two bags of fruit at the fruit shop downstairs along the way.
Standing at the door, he rang the doorbell. The person who opened the door was Ye Yi, who was still wearing an apron and clearly in the middle of cooking.
“You’re here! Xiao Sang is inside waiting for you, come on in.”
Song Li looked at his sun-warm smile filled with the gentle, settled charm of a mature man. He suddenly wondered how wonderful it would be if He Muyan could smile at him like this every day.
Carrying the fruit, he walked inside. The living room was filled with the noisy sound of the television. Xue Sang was crouching barefoot on the sofa watching TV. His hair had grown quite a bit, enough to tie into a small little bun, and looked rather cute from behind.
As Ye Yi passed by the sofa, he bent down to give him a kiss, his tone a mix of helplessness and doting affection, “Eat fewer raisins, or you won’t be able to finish dinner in a bit.”
Xue Sang hummed an “oh” in response, opened his mouth to let Ye Yi lick his tongue, and squinted his eyes, asking with a smile, “Is it sweet?”
Ye Yi nodded. “Baby is so sweet.”
Standing behind them, Song Li felt intensely awkward. He averted his gaze and let out a light cough.
Ye Yi reached out to pat Xue Sang’s hair. “I’ll go cook dinner.”
With that, he turned and headed back to the kitchen.
Song Li placed the fruit on the coffee table. Seeing Xue Sang still staring toward the kitchen with a face full of sweetness, his teeth practically ached from the sourness of envy. “Alright, that’s enough. Are you deliberately showing off in front of me?”
Xue Sang rested his chin on the back of the sofa, blinking his large eyes as he looked at him. “You have a husband too. How could you possibly be affected by my showing off?”
Song Li pinched a raisin, feeling a bit gloomy. “We are not the same.”
Xue Sang took a look at his expression and kicked him lightly with his foot. “Don’t tell me you two are fighting again.”
“No.” Song Li shook his head hurriedly, terrified that he would misunderstand again. “We didn’t fight, don’t worry.”
Xue Sang snorted softly. “Even if you did, I wouldn’t care anymore. You ungrateful little thing, putting love before friendship.”
Knowing he was in the wrong, Song Li gave him a flattering smile.
Ye Yi’s dinner was sumptuous and delicious. Song Li unexpectedly managed an extra bowl of rice; if He Muyan knew about this, he would definitely give him a reward.
Song Li felt he was truly beyond saving. How could he think of He Muyan no matter what time it was? Couldn’t he have a bit of backbone and stop thinking about him for just a few hours?
After dinner, Ye Yi cut a fruit platter for the two of them and then went to the study by himself, leaving them their own time and space.
Song Li turned his head to look at the tightly closed door of the study and said enviously, “Ye Yi is really so thoughtful.”
Xue Sang speared a piece of cantaloupe with a toothpick. “Of course! Look whose husband he is.”
Song Li realized that Xue Sang truly seized every opportunity to praise and brag about Ye Yi. If Ye Yi were an idol star, Xue Sang would be his fanatical super-fan; the kind who, even if Ye Yi had body odor, would blindly praise it as male pheromones.
Thinking about it, it was quite miraculous; Song Li had never seen Xue Sang act like this with any of his previous boyfriends.
Love really blinds people.
Xue Sang speared another piece of apple shaped like a rabbit and handed it to him. “Look at this little rabbit, isn’t it adorable? My husband is just too skillful.”
Song Li looked at the vivid rabbit-shaped apple, opened his mouth, and bit it whole in one go.
Xue Sang blew his top on the spot, “Song Li! You bastard, that was the only little rabbit my husband carved for me! Spit it out right now!”
Song Li was shaken by the neck as Xue Sang choked him, so he opened his mouth to show him, “I haven’t chewed it yet, I’m giving it back to you.”
With a face full of disgust, Xue Sang let go of him and sat back down, “Gross! Just eat it, eat it. I’ll have my husband carve another one for me later.”
Only then did Song Li chew and swallow the little rabbit. Hearing him refer to “my husband” with every other word, he suddenly asked, “Xiao Sang, you and Ye Yi have such a good relationship, you must be serious this time, right? Have you ever thought about settling down and marrying him?”
“Shh, shh, shh!” The moment he finished speaking, Xue Sang turned around and winked at him frantically, glancing toward the study from time to time to make sure the person inside wasn’t coming out. Only after confirming it did he relax, letting out a sigh as he looked at Song Li, “Keep your voice down, don’t just say things like that so casually. Ye Yi has been pestering me about this lately. Don’t be fooled by his huge size, his emotions are delicate and sensitive as hell. If I just say I’ll think about it, he gets so depressed that he can’t eat properly for two days.”
Song Li found it a bit funny, “That’s an exaggeration.”
“Who knows.” Xue Sang shrugged, “He’s as stubborn as an old bull, and ridiculously hard to coax.”
Song Li couldn’t help asking him, “You don’t want to marry him?”
Xue Sang asked back, “Is marriage really that great?”
Song Li looked into his clear eyes and said nothing.
Xue Sang patted his shoulder, “Don’t overthink it. Everyone chooses a different way of life, and there are many ways for two people to be together. Marriage isn’t necessarily the ultimate destination.”
Though he felt a little sorry for Ye Yi, Song Li suddenly found that Xue Sang’s words made a lot of sense.
“Xiao Sang.”
“What is it?”
“How do you actually view marriage?”
Xue Sang thought for a moment, “It’s a kind of restriction, maybe?”
Song Li felt asking him was useless anyway; after all, the two of them held completely different values when it came to marriage.
He extended his right hand and looked up at it, light falling through the gaps between his fingers, piercing his eyes with a faint ache.
“Xiao Sang.”
“What now?”
“How do you view wedding rings then?”
“Why wear a ring? So sissified…” Xue Sang suddenly turned around to look at him, “What do you mean by that? Did He Muyan not buy you a wedding ring?”
Terrified that he would blow up again, Song Li quickly waved his hands to soothe him. “No, no, don’t get worked up. Weren’t we just talking about this? I was just asking offhandedly.”
Xue Sang glanced at him. “You’d better not be lying to me. Even though I don’t like wearing rings, a wedding ring is different; it represents a pledge, a contract, and carries a really significant meaning.”
Song Li looked at him with a trace of bitterness in his mouth. “Is that so?”
“Of course.” Having said that, Xue Sang wiped his mouth and leaned in with a face full of gossip. “Hey, He Muyan is so rich, the ring he bought must be outrageously expensive, right? Is it one of those brands where only a select few people worldwide are qualified to order custom pieces? Just thinking about it sounds ridiculously fancy. Show me, quick, show me! Let a country bumpkin like me broaden his horizons.”
Song Li pushed away his big face, which was almost glued to him, a little distance back. “Like you said, wearing rings is uncomfortable. I don’t like wearing them either, and I’m afraid of losing it, so I’ve just kept it at home all this time.”
“Tch, so boring.” Xue Sang wrinkled his nose. “I wanted to see what makes a ring bought by a rich guy so special.”
Song Li smiled awkwardly and didn’t speak.
Having lingered there for another two hours, it was almost ten o’clock at night. Song Li was still curled up on the sofa with no intention of leaving, looking as if he was about to fall asleep any second.
After finishing drawing tomorrow’s sign menu for his shop, Xue Sang shuffled over in his slippers and asked him, “How much longer do you plan to stay at my place? It’s so late, isn’t your husband looking for you?”
“He has a dinner party and business social today; he might not be home yet.” Song Li lifted his eyelids slightly. “Xiao Sang, can I sleep over at your place tonight?”
Xue Sang put his hands on his hips. “You can, but Ye Yi has tomorrow off, so we might pull an all-nighter today. Do you want to listen to a live broadcast in the next room?”
It took Song Li a moment to realize what he meant by “all-nighter” and “live broadcast.” He looked at him speechlessly. “It wasn’t easy for me to come over to your place for once. Can’t you endure it just for the sake of your best friend?”
Xue Sang shook his head. “Nope.”
Furious, Song Li glared at him, threw down the throw pillow in his arms, and stood up. “I’m leaving right now.”
Xue Sang walked him to the doorway, watching as he bent down at the entryway to change his shoes. Between his movements, he had habitually and unconsciously used his hand to shield his lower abdomen.
“Lili.”
Song Li raised his head to look at him. “Hmm?”
Xue Sang suddenly reached out to pat the top of his head. “That belly of yours; you can hide it for a while, but you can’t hide it forever. You’d better figure out how to tell your parents sooner rather than later. They are experienced adults after all, far more reliable than two grown men blindly groping in the dark.”
Song Li pursed his lips and, after a long moment, nodded gently. “Alright.”
He had actually considered what Xue Sang was talking about; it wasn’t that he wanted to keep his family in the dark forever. It was just that he always felt the time wasn’t right yet, and he didn’t know how to bring it up to them, so he could only drag it out day by day like this.
Song Li went out and hailed a cab, thinking that since it was already so late, He Muyan’s dinner party should have ended, and he would be back home by now.
Yet, what awaited him upon returning home was still a cold, pitch-black darkness. Song Li sighed, pulled out his phone, and sent a message to He Muyan.
Song Pear: I’m going to sleep first.
Song Li slept extremely restlessly that night. When he suddenly woke up from a nightmare in the middle of the night, he sensed the sound of someone breathing beside him. Startled, he was immediately pulled into a tight embrace.
He Muyan reeked heavily of alcohol as he lifted Song Li’s chin and kissed him wildly.
Song Li pushed him forcefully in discomfort, but He Muyan possessed immense, brute strength while drunk. Song Li’s hands pressed against his body couldn’t budge him in the slightest.
He Muyan kissed his neck incessantly. Terrified, Song Li reached out to protect his stomach, closed his eyes, and shouted loudly, “He Muyan, He Muyan!”
He Muyan seemed to be snapped awake by these few shouts. A flicker of clarity flashed through his eyes. Leaning over him, he breathed heavily, and only after a long pause did he finally call out in a hoarse voice, “Lili?”
Seeing that he seemed to have returned to normal, Song Li fumbled to turn on the lamp. Looking at his half-dazed, half-sober appearance, he reached out with trembling hands and grabbed his shoulders. “It’s me. Get up first, you’re pressing against my belly, it hurts.”
Hearing this, He Muyan immediately got off him. He bent down to press his face against Song Li’s belly, kissing it a few times with deep distress. “I’m sorry, I drank too much. I thought I was in a dream just now.”
Song Li had already calmed down. He reached out to stroke his hair. “What time is it? Did you just get back?”
He Muyan hugged his waist and shook his head gently. “I don’t know. Li Xiu sent me back.”
Judging by his voice, he sounded like he was about to fall asleep at any second; he must have consumed a lot of alcohol tonight. Song Li patted him. “Go take a shower before you sleep. You reek of alcohol.”
He Muyan let out another “en,” slowly sitting up with a dazed expression. He even swayed twice when getting up, so much so that Song Li felt tempted to help him inside.
The few pieces of clothes lying on the floor were likely taken off and tossed aside by He Muyan when he walked into the room earlier. Reeking too strongly of alcohol, Song Li got out of bed, picked up all the clothes, threw them into a corner, and scurried back under the covers to lie down.
The sound of rushing water echoed from the bathroom. Now completely wide awake, Song Li kept his eyes open, waiting for He Muyan to come out.
Just as his heavy eyelids were about to drop again, He Muyan finally emerged wrapped in a bathrobe, enveloped in a cloud of steaming heat.
Seeing that Song Li still had his eyes open, he leaned down and kissed him. “Why aren’t you asleep yet?”
Noticing his exposed chest as he bent over, Song Li pulled the blanket up to cover his face. “You woke me up, so I couldn’t fall back asleep. You took so long in the shower.”
He Muyan chuckled softly. “The smell of alcohol was too strong. I washed a bit longer, fearing you’d find it foul.”
Song Li nodded. “It’s so cold, hurry up and get in.”
He Muyan sat by the bedside to wipe his hair until it was half-dry before lifting the quilt and slipping inside.
Song Li tried to scoot over to make room for him, but He Muyan grabbed him by the arm.
Song Li looked up at him in confusion. He Muyan’s eyes and brows seemed as though they were still damp with moisture; the way he looked at him was practically dripping with tenderness.
Song Li’s heart went thump, thump. Blushing, he allowed himself to be pulled into He Muyan’s chest.
“Lili.” He Muyan called his name in a low, tender, and affectionate voice.
Song Li also tried reaching out to wrap his arms around He Muyan’s back, resting his cheek against his chest where he could clearly hear the steady, powerful thuds of his heartbeat.
It felt so good.
Early the next morning, Li Xiu came over to pick up He Muyan. By the looks of it, they were about to get busy again.
Yawning, Song Li walked downstairs. Seeing Li Xiu waiting in the living room, he greeted him with a smile.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning, Mr. Song.”
Song Li let out a few more yawns in a row.
Li Xiu took a look at his complexion. “Did you not get enough rest last night, Mr. Song?”
Song Li pulled out a chair and sat down, nodding. “I’ve been dreaming a lot lately, waking up several times a night.”
Li Xiu thought for a moment and said with a smile, “I read some materials before that some people are prone to insomnia and frequent dreams during pregnancy. You can try listening to sleep-aid music every night, Mr. Song, and drink a glass of warm milk before going to bed.”
Although Li Xiu was one of the few people who knew about his pregnancy, discussing this topic between two grown men still made Song Li feel a bit awkward, so he flashed him an embarrassed smile.
He turned his head to look around. “Where’s He Muyan?”
“The boss went to the study to answer a phone call.”
Song Li nodded, wondering what kind of phone call required him to specifically avoid them and go to the study to take it.
Li Xiu had already prepared breakfast, including Song Li’s favorite crystal shrimp dumplings. Song Li poked one with a fork, raised his head to look at Li Xiu, and said, “You should sit down and eat too.”
As usual, Li Xiu smiled and shook his head. “I already ate before coming here.”
Knowing how strictly he adhered to rules, Song Li didn’t press him further. He ate while resting his chin in his hand, dazing out in boredom.
“Sidetracked even while eating?” A deep voice suddenly sounded from above, immediately followed by a wave of warmth surrounding his back. Unbeknownst to him, He Muyan had come out of the study and was now standing behind him while leaning his arms on the tabletop as he bent down to completely envelop him in an embrace.
This posture was far too intimate and ambiguous, especially with Li Xiu still watching from the side. Song Li nudged him with his elbow and whispered shyly, “Your seat is across from me.”
He Muyan pressed his chin against Song Li’s soft hair and nuzzled it. “Lili, I want to eat shrimp dumplings.”
Song Li turned his head to look at him. “Then go over there and eat.”
“I want to be fed by Lili.”
This man was absolutely doing this on purpose.
Overcome with embarrassment, Song Li instinctively glanced at Li Xiu nearby. The battle-tested Li Xiu had already raised his head, gazing intently at the ceiling as if exchanging affectionate looks with it.
Having no choice, Song Li had to poke another dumpling and feed it to his mouth.
He Muyan opened his mouth and bit into it, only then sitting up satisfied to walk over and take a seat opposite him. “Are you still going to school today?”
Song Li took a sip of porridge and nodded. “Yes.”
He Muyan looked at him. “Li Xiu and I need to go to the company for a meeting. I’ll have Xiao Chen drive you over in a bit.”
Xiao Chen was another driver who had been with He Muyan for a long time.
Song Li nodded. “That works.”
He Muyan stretched out his arm to stroke his face. “Good boy, Lili.”
After a rushed breakfast, He Muyan and Li Xiu departed first. Sitting in the back seat, He Muyan took another phone call. His voice was cold and deep; without a doubt, this was the cold-faced King of Hell version of He Muyan that everyone knew at the company.
After hanging up the phone, He Muyan’s expression was noticeably dark. He raised his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, surrounded by an aura like a storm brewing.
Even though the air conditioning wasn’t running in the car, Li Xiu felt a chill run down his spine for no apparent reason. He cast a glance at the person in the back through the rearview mirror. “Boss, the decision you’re about to make might impact the company’s entire strategic direction for the second half of the year. Those old fogies at today’s shareholders’ meeting are bound to cause trouble for you.”
“If I were afraid of them causing trouble, I wouldn’t have chosen to do this in the first place.”
Li Xiu nodded. Their boss had always been swift and decisive in his actions, never hesitating or looking back; this was a key reason why he had successfully reached where he was today. “It’s just that for so many years; Boss Gao has been the bellwether of this industry. If we offend such a prominent figure over this, the company’s future path might become somewhat difficult to navigate.”
He Muyan’s fingers tapped lightly against the car window frame. Hearing this, he let out a cold laugh. “Li Xiu, having followed me for all these years, do you still think I’m the same He Muyan from back then who could only seek shelter under Gao Ming’s wing?”
Seeing the look in He Muyan’s eyes in the rearview mirror, Li Xiu realized he had misspoken and immediately changed the subject nervously. “You’re doing all this for Mr. Song, right, Boss? If Mr. Song finds out, he’ll definitely be very happy.”
“Why should he know?” He Muyan asked back, seeming somewhat puzzled. “I’m doing this simply because I want to. I dislike others harboring designs on what belongs to me, it’s unacceptable even if it’s just an extra glance. Gao Ming went too far this time.”
Li Xiu was somewhat surprised. “Boss, you’re not doing this for Mr. Song?”
He Muyan raised his head to look at him.
Taking a breath, Li Xiu let out a dry laugh. “I thought you loved Mr. Song so much, Boss, which was why you got so angry after finding out about this and didn’t hesitate to make such a grand gesture.”
He Muyan’s tapping fingers paused. A flash of confusion flickered across his eyes, and only after a long silence did he speak in a low, quiet voice, “What is love?”
This time, Li Xiu didn’t dare to answer, only sighing silently in his heart.
The author has something to say:
“What is Love?”
