MHWFYYTMDF Chapter36

I'll Miss You

Having known Xue Sang for so long, the two of them rarely spoke such heart-to-heart, overly sentimental words. After all, neither of them was particularly adept at expressing feelings; if something could be resolved through actions, they never wasted words on excess talk.

So, after Xue Sang finished saying those words just now, his expression was visibly a bit unnatural as well, turning his head toward Ye Yi’s side.

Song Li, on the other hand, was already moved beyond words, his eyes reddening slightly. If Ye Yi hadn’t been sitting right beside them, he would have pounced on him long ago.

“Stop being so damn cheesy here.”

In the end, it was Xue Sang who broke first under the heavy atmosphere, pushing the little cake in front of him over to Song Li, “It’s a new product. Conveniently, you can help me test the flavor to see if there’s anything that needs improvement.”

Looking at the exquisitely cute mini cake, Song Li didn’t start eating right away. Instead, he took out his phone to snap a photo first. Being in such a great mood, he casually posted it to his Moments.

The caption read: Plenty of strawberries, awesome friendship!

Then, putting his phone to the side, he picked up his fork and dug it in.

He could practically be considered a half-fledged expert on traditional desserts himself, so after finishing it, he offered Xue Sang several thoughtful suggestions, feeling both satisfied and pleased.

Taking mental note of the points he mentioned, Xue Sang immediately ran off to the back kitchen.

It so happened that Ye Yi’s one hour was almost up as well. Seeing Xue Sang grow busy again, he stood up and bade them goodbye.

In the blink of an eye, Song Li was once again the only one sitting there. He started browsing his phone again, and upon opening WeChat, he instantly received a flurry of unread notification messages.

They were all comments under the Moments update he had posted just moments ago.

He Muyan was surprisingly the very first one.

President He: You’re not at home?

Following him were Xu Shanshan, Teacher Tian Fu, his mom, and many others who liked and left comments for him.

Song Li wasn’t in the mood to care about the others’ messages, because after commenting, He Muyan had immediately sent him private messages several in a row.

President He: Where are you right now?

President He: Reply to my message when you see this.

Song Li broke into a cold sweat. In his excitement earlier, he had posted the update directly without remembering to block anyone. When He Muyan left the house today, he had specifically instructed him not to go out casually if there was no reason to, and if he really had to go out, to remember to tell him beforehand.

In his rush of excitement when stepping out the door, how could Song Li have possibly remembered any of that?

After hesitating for a moment, he replied to his message after all.

Song Pear: I’m out taking a breath of fresh air. [Sticking Out Tongue.jpg]

He Muyan seemed to have been waiting for his reply the entire time, replying almost instantly.

President He: Where are you?

Song Pear: In the store Xiao Sang opened. The environment here is pretty good, much more comfortable than staying at home.

President He: I’ll be done with my meeting in a little bit. I’ll pick you up.

Song Pear: No need, you go ahead with your work.

President He: Send me the location.

This guy doesn’t listen to what people say at all.

Song Li let out a sigh. Realizing he had nothing left to do here anyway, he sent the address over.

Song Pear: I drove here myself by the way.

President He: Okay.

President He: I’ll have someone come over to drive your car back.

Song Li put his phone down and took another sip of milk.

When He Muyan arrived, it caused quite a stir in the shop. It was already afternoon when He Muyan pushed open the door, the cheerful chime of the wind chimes ringing overhead. His tall figure was bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun. With his strikingly handsome features, for a trance-like moment, he almost gave people the illusion of a heavenly mortal descending to earth.

The remaining young girls in the shop whispered among themselves, the gazes they cast toward He Muyan flashing with an almost ravenous light.

He Muyan swept his eyes across the shop, then his gaze landed on Song Li in the corner. Stepping forward, he walked straight over to him.

Song Li felt all the eyes that had been fixed on He Muyan instantly shift onto him, and he couldn’t help but puff out his chest.

Look all you want, even if you keep looking, this heavenly man won’t be yours either. He’s already stamped as mine.

While he was still celebrating secretly in his heart, He Muyan had already reached his side. Glancing at the cup in front of him, he didn’t even sit down opposite him directly saying, “Let’s go.”

“Huh?” Song Li froze. “Since you’re already here, aren’t you going to sit for a bit?”

He Muyan raised his wrist to check the time, “Auntie Chen has already gone home to make dinner. Going back now will be just right.”

Song Li let out an “oh” and dawdled as he got to his feet.

The environment at Xue Sang’s shop was so lovely that Song Li actually really wanted to sit here with He Muyan for a while, even if they did nothing at all, just chatting and listening to music.

The sunset outside was so beautiful. If they just sat here watching the setting sun, occasionally exchanging a glance with each other, that kind of picture felt romantic just thinking about it.

If it were Ye Yi, even if Xue Sang didn’t say a word, he would definitely do so.

But He Muyan wouldn’t.

Song Li let out a sigh, feeling a touch of sorrow in his heart.

Before leaving, Song Li sent Xue Sang a message. Xue Sang was probably busy in the back and didn’t reply to him.

Song Li followed He Muyan out while looking at his tall, broad back from behind. Though the two of them were clearly so close, it felt as if a mountain stood between them; he always felt like he couldn’t quite reach He Muyan.

Only on the way home did he have time to reply to the comments under his Moments update one by one. Just as he finished replying to Xu Shanshan, that girl’s private chat popped up immediately.

[Shining Pretty Girl]: TEACH! ER! SONG!!!!!

Song Li mimicked her tone: HERE! I! AM!!!!!

Sparkling Pretty Girl: You’ve finally shown up! I thought you evaporated off the earth!

Song Pear: Didn’t I request leave? [Naively Laughing.jpg]

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Don’t even mention your leave! Who on earth requested a whole month of leave out of nowhere when everything was fine? How is your body really doing? Are you okay?

Song Pear: I’m fine now, just an old ailment. I’m restoring my health at home.

Sparkling Pretty Girl: It’s good as long as you’re okay. [About to Cry.gif]

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Then when are you coming back to school? I miss you so much!

Sparkling Pretty Girl: The office is full of married, greasy uncles. I’m in urgent need of Teacher Song’s refreshing good looks to cleanse my eyes right now, ahhhh!

Song Pear: I’m married too, you know.

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Oh, right!

Sparkling Pretty Girl: How do I always forget such an important thing!

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Teacher Song! I’ll come visit you another day~

Song Pear: I think your intentions lie elsewhere.

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Don’t expose me like that~ [Yamete.gif]

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Isn’t it just that I crave your husband’s face, your husband’s legs, and your husband’s body?

Song Pear: What a coincidence; I also crave my husband’s face, my husband’s legs, and my husband’s body as well.

Song Pear: Tonight, I can finally prprpr1So, “prprpr” is playfully implying that Song Li is so attracted to He Muyan that he wants to drool over every part of him. It’s deliberately silly and exaggerated rather than a precise literal action. at his face, his legs, and his whole body.

Sparkling Pretty Girl: TEA! CHER! SONG!

Sparkling Pretty Girl: Single shaming is illegal! You’ve gone too far. [Too Much.gif]

Song Li couldn’t help but laugh. Setting his phone down, he looked up only to nearly bump into the face of the person beside him.

Startled half to death, Song Li clutched his chest and turned his head to look at him, “Why aren’t you driving properly? What are you suddenly getting so close to me for?”

He Muyan pointed out the window, “We’re home.”

Song Li glanced outside, and sure enough, he saw the familiar gates of the villa.

They had arrived so quickly, had he really been chatting with Xu Shanshan for that long?

Reaching out to unbuckle his seatbelt, he then heard He Muyan ask faintly from the side: “What does ‘prpr’ mean? How are you going to ‘prprpr’ me?”

Song Li: ……

Song Li: “You peeked at my messages!”

He Muyan looked innocent, “I originally wanted to call you to get out of the car, but you were chatting so intently that I subconsciously took a glance.”

Song Li squeezed his seatbelt tight, “Then… then what else did you see besides that sentence?”

He Muyan: “I saw you say you craved my face, my legs, and my body.”

Song Li: ……

So, he had seen everything!

What was he supposed to do? He desperately wanted to travel back in time a few minutes ago and strangle the self who sent those messages.

Burning with intense shame, Song Li pressed the seatbelt release, opened the door, and bolted.

As long as he ran fast enough, social death wouldn’t catch up to him!

Social death couldn’t catch up to him, but He Muyan could.

Not only could he catch up, but he could also pin him against the door so he couldn’t run any further.

“Teacher Song.” Holding his waist with a large hand, He Muyan stared into his eyes and asked him, “You haven’t answered my question about what that sentence meant just now.”

Song Li’s face was burning so hot it was practically about to explode. President He, sometimes people don’t need to be that eager for knowledge, understand?

President He didn’t understand. Like an overly curious kid chasing an adult with a hundred thousand whys, he pestered and badgered him, insisting on forcing that answer out of him. Song Li almost began to suspect whether he was doing it on purpose.

In the end, under his “threats and enticements,” Song Li endured the shame and gave him his answer.

He then watched as the light gradually burst forth in President He’s pitch-black pupils upon hearing that answer. The large hand clamped around his waist tightened its grip, and lowering his head against his ear, he said word for word, “Then let’s try it tonight.”

Song Li let out a mental howl, he couldn’t take this!

That evening, they really did try it. Before Song Li could “prpr” for very long, President He couldn’t take it anymore, pushing him straight down, lifting his legs, and getting to work.

However, fearing that Song Li wouldn’t be able to bear it, he didn’t dare go too far. When he carried him off to take a bath, Song Li was still quite spirited.

The two sat together in the bathtub with Song Li leaning back against He Muyan’s chest and stretching out his legs, letting out a comfortable sigh.

Whenever he found himself in a moment like this, he couldn’t help thinking that having money really was wonderful, you could have a house this spacious and a bathtub this enormous. If it were back in his own little apartment, it would be impossible for the two of them to take a bath together so comfortably like this.

He Muyan massaged his waist from behind, “Are you tired?”

Song Li half-closed his eyes and shook his head, “I’m not tired.”

After saying that, as if remembering something, he whispered with a blushing face, “You didn’t even put much force into it.”

He Muyan heard him and reached out, his large hand gently resting against Song Li’s smooth lower abdomen. “I’m afraid of hurting the baby.”

Song Li nodded, splashing water onto his face, “Let’s not soak anymore, my head is starting to feel dizzy.”

He Muyan then carried him out of the bathtub, pulling a bath towel over to wrap him up. With the bathroom filled with swirling steam, Song Li couldn’t see He Muyan’s face very clearly. Looking down at his current look, he felt like laughing.

He Muyan asked him, “What are you laughing at?”

Song Li held back, “Wrapping me up like this, don’t I look a bit like an imperial concubine wrapped up to be carried by the Imperial Household Department to serve the emperor in a court drama?”

He Muyan visualized it following his words, frowning, “Then am I the eunuch from the Imperial Household Department?”

Song Li was stunned. What kind of mental leap is that? Me saying that was to let you step into the role of the supreme Emperor. Why are you assigning yourself the wrong role?

He Muyan seemed to have completely immersed himself in the persona he made up, even deliberately scooping Song Li up onto his shoulder, “Then, Your Highness, we shall set off. Your Highness washed yourself so fragrance-filled today that His Majesty will surely not even want to attend early morning court tomorrow.”

Song Li covered his face in shame. He was wrong, what possessed him to crack this kind of joke with He Muyan?

Just how on earth did President He manage to recite such ridiculously humiliating lines so expressionlessly and without a single ripple of emotion at all?

Being carried over and set onto the bed, Song Li immediately wriggled his way into the quilt. He Muyan sat at the edge of the bed drying his hair, the muscle lines on his arms shifting and rising slightly with his movements, handsome without lacking a sense of power.

Looking at him made Song Li want to prprpr all over again.

Once his hair was half-dry, He Muyan turned and got onto the bed, casually switching off the lamp.

The two lay side by side with a distance of roughly a fist between them. Later, neither of them knew who had moved first, but their shoulders brushed against each other; a tiny, almost imperceptible gesture that nevertheless carried a subtle sense of intimacy.

Just like every previous night, it started with touching shoulders, then arms, and finally their hands pressed together. He Muyan would then catch his hand and gently pull him over.

Song Li rolled into his chest, resting his head on his arm. It was very firm, but he had grown used to sleeping on it lately; if there ever came a day without this arm for him to rest on, he might genuinely suffer from insomnia.

Placing a hand on his waist, He Muyan kissed his forehead, “Go to sleep.”

Song Li was actually still quite energetic and couldn’t fall asleep. His mind kept drifting back to his chat with Xu Shanshan during the day. After holding himself back for a long while, he finally reached out and gave He Muyan’s collar a gentle tug.

“He Muyan.”

He Muyan let out an “en,” sounding as if he was on the verge of falling asleep.

Song Li was determined to say it, scooting his body upward so his lips were pressed right beside his ear.

“He Muyan, I want to go back to school to work.”

He Muyan didn’t seem to expect him to bring this up, opening his eyes and looking down at him.

Song Li continued, “I’m serious. My physical condition has basically stabilized now, and Dr. Fang said it’s fine too. Besides, staying at home for the past half-month or so has been way too boring, and it delays your work as well. Thinking it over, it just doesn’t feel right no matter what; it’d be better if I went back to school and resumed work.”

Song Li spoke earnestly and urgently, the sparkling points of light in his eyes visible even in the dark. He Muyan fell silent for a moment before saying softly, “I’m not at ease with you going out alone right now.”

“I went out alone today too, didn’t I? Look, did anything happen?”

“Today is different.”

“What makes it different?” Song Li tried painstakingly to advocate for himself, “You said so yourself before, the people and environment around me are very simple, and the school is even simpler and safer than society. You’ve met all my colleagues; which one of them looks like a dangerous person? So going back to work definitely won’t pose any problem.”

He Muyan looked at him for a while longer, ultimately compromising with a helpless sigh, “When does Lili want to go back?”

“If possible, tomorrow works.”

He Muyan paused, letting out a sigh after a good long while, “Then I’ll drive you to school tomorrow.”

This meant he had agreed. Song Li felt quite happy, almost wrapping his arms around him to plant a big kiss on him.

Fortunately, he held back with restraint, burying his face in the nook of He Muyan’s neck and nuzzling contentedly.

Having been cooped up for so long, to finally be able to return to work made Song Li’s heart feel so joyful it was practically soaring. Fearing that He Muyan might regret it, he confirmed it with him as soon as he opened his eyes the next morning.

He Muyan pinched his cheek, saying a gentleman’s word cannot be withdrawn.

Song Li was elated, drinking an extra bowl of porridge for breakfast.

So, He Muyan rewarded him with a kiss.

After finishing breakfast, He Muyan drove him to school. Having been away for nearly half a month, to be honest, Song Li was still a bit nervous. So many things had happened over the past month, bringing many changes to his mindset; looking at the familiar flowers and plants in the school, he couldn’t help but feel somewhat emotional.

Seeing him staring blankly out the window, He Muyan caught the hand resting on his lap.

Coming back to his senses, Song Li turned his head and flashed him a smile.

He Muyan knitted his brows; he didn’t like Song Li smiling like that.

And so, turning his face over, he kissed him. Song Li was left slightly dazed by the kiss, yet he instinctively responded. He Muyan kissed him with such force that when their lips finally parted, a faint “mwah” could be heard.

Song Li’s face flushed completely red. Raising his hand to wipe the moisture off his lips, he looked at him with a mix of embarrassment and annoyance, “This is a school, what are you doing?”

He Muyan looked at the back of his bright red ears and the large patch of flush spreading down his neck. When Song Li looked at him, his eyes were misty with tears, giving him a look that was both aggrieved and full of life. He Muyan liked seeing Song Li look at him this way.

“I won’t be able to see you or the baby all day today, so let me kiss you more.”

Song Li couldn’t help asking him, “Will you miss me-miss us?”

He Muyan gave an “en,” before bending down to kiss his belly through his clothes, “I will miss you. Baby, be good and don’t make trouble for your dad.”

Song Li looked at him with a smile, “He’s still so small; he won’t make trouble.”

“Training him in advance is never wrong.”

These words were very much in President He’s style.

They lingered in the car for a while longer, and if Li Xiu hadn’t called to check on them, they might have wasted even more time.

Fearing that he would delay his work, Song Li hurriedly got out of the car, bending down to wave at him, “Hurry up and go, I can go to the office by myself.”

He Muyan rolled down the car window, “I’ll come pick you up for lunch at noon.”

Song Li quickly shook his head, “Your company is so far from here; don’t bother going through the hassle, I can manage on my own.”

He Muyan looked at him for a moment longer, nodding seemingly with great reluctance, “I’m off then. I’ll pick you up in the evening.”

Song Li nodded, standing straight and stepping back.

The car quickly disappeared from view. Song Li withdrew his gaze, shivering as the cold wind blew past; the weather seemed to be getting colder and colder.

Song Li was actually still on leave right now, and the teachers in the office didn’t know he would be coming today. Seeing him suddenly walk into the office, Xu Shanshan nearly lost her mind. She pulled him over to inspect him from head to toe, then even rushed to the doorway to look outside, glancing back and forth as though expecting someone else to appear.

Placing his bag on the desk, Song Li asked her curiously, “What are you looking at?”

“A handsome guy!” Xu Shanshan replied without turning her head, “From what I’ve seen before, whenever someone returns to work after taking a long leave, their husband is practically guaranteed to have driven them here. So, where’s your husband, Teacher Song?”

Song Li was speechlessly amused. Where did a young girl who hadn’t even dated much get such a messy, made-up experience from?

“You’re too late. He left a long time ago.”

Xu Shanshan let out an “Ah!”, turning around to look at him, “Teacher Song, that’s not cool of you! Don’t you know I urgently need handsome guys to extend my life right now?!”

“Shanshan, I don’t quite like hearing those words of yours,” Tian Fu off to the side tapped on the desk and said, “Aren’t having two hunk types like me and Teacher Jia enough for you to look at every day?”

“Teacher Tian, please don’t even get me started,” Xu Shanshan said with an insincere smile, “I don’t want to be hunted down by my two sisters-in-law.”

“Stop messing around, you guys,” Song Li said with a laugh, interrupting them as he distributed the paper bags in his hand to each of them one by one. “I brought you all gifts, take a look and see if you like them.”

“Wow!” Xu Shanshan’s eyes sparkled. “Teacher Song, you are so thoughtful! Love you!”

“Teacher Song, you’re being far too formal. You were sick and we didn’t even go visit you, yet here you are bringing us gifts when you’re back.” Tian Fu took the gift bag and patted his forehead, feeling a bit bashful.

“It’s fine. It was just my old ailment flaring up this time, no need to trouble you all to make a trip over.”

Song Li thought to himself that it was a good thing they hadn’t actually come over; otherwise, given his body’s condition, there would have been no way to explain what kind of illness he actually had.

After the few of them chatted for a while longer, Tian Fu picked up his lesson plans and headed out to teach his class. Xu Shanshan was typing up materials at her computer when she suddenly remembered something, turning back to look at Song Li, “Oh right, Teacher Song, your timing is pretty coincidental. I heard a big investor is coming to the school today to give a speech, and the dean requested all teachers from our department to attend. You should come too!”

Song Li had just turned on his computer and used a system utility to clear out the desktop junk. Hearing her words, he looked up and asked, “What big investor?”

“No idea. I heard he’s a huge mogul. Hey, Teacher Song, do you think he might be a handsome guy?”

Song Li closed out the cleaner software and looked at her with amusement, “You’re setting your sights on this too? How did things go with that blind date of yours?”

Xu Shanshan wagged her finger up and down, “Shh, we’re not bringing up the past! What’s done is done, best to keep looking ahead.”

“Then we won’t mention it.” Song Li glanced at the time, “When is the speech?”

“Three in the afternoon.”

Song Li nodded, “I have a class at two. Help me save a seat.”

“Sure thing!”

By the time class ended in the afternoon, it was already two-fifty. Song Li timed it closely as he headed toward the grand auditorium behind the library. The school seemed to place quite a bit of importance on this speech; the front row of the auditorium was lined with numerous school leaders, and all the designated attendees were packed in tightly.

Before he arrived, Xu Shanshan had texted him the exact row and seat location. Song Li stooped low and carefully found his way over. Just as he sat down, he heard the microphone at the front ring out; it looked like the speech was about to begin.

“He’s here, he’s here! The big boss is coming out!” Xu Shanshan shook his arm excitedly from the side, even pressing her hands together in prayer while muttering, “Handsome guy, handsome guy…”

Under the eager anticipation of the crowd, the big mogul finally took the stage, walking with long strides and an imposing air. Seeing his face, Xu Shanshan nearly swooned, clutching Song Li’s sleeve while gasping softly, “So handsome! Teacher Song, although he can’t compare to your heavenly husband, he’s full of masculine charm; he’s totally my type!”

Unlike her unabashed fangirling, Song Li was anything but composed. He stared in astonishment at the cold-faced man standing on the stage. “How is it him…?”

Hearing his voice, Xu Shanshan turned her head to ask, “Teacher Song, do you know this big boss?”

Song Li gave an awkward smile, thinking to himself that this was way too much of a coincidence: “I’ve seen him before, but we’re not really familiar.”

“Oh,” Xu Shanshan nodded. “Then you probably saw him on some financial news coverage or something. People like him have a lot of prestige.”

Song Li wasn’t in the mood to say anything more to her, an indescribable sense of strangeness washing over his heart. Why on earth would Gao Ming suddenly come to their school to give a lecture?
