ARLQLCC chapter 59

When Did You Start Liking Me?

Tears streamed down Chu Zhaoye’s face. Su Ji took out a handkerchief from his storage artifact and slapped it into his hand.

“Wipe it yourself!”

The tears that had been falling nonstop paused. Chu Zhaoye cried while unable to stop laughing. Holding the faintly fragrant handkerchief, he wiped away the tears hanging on his face in a few quick motions, the corners of his mouth almost reaching his ears.

His crying and laughing appearance looked extremely strange. Su Ji did not know whether to laugh or cry as he watched, helplessly scolding him, “So useless.”

After wiping his tears, Chu Zhaoye stuffed the handkerchief into his clothes, showing absolutely no intention of giving it back. Su Ji raised his brows when he saw this. “Stealing my things right in front of me?”

Chu Zhaoye moved closer and pinched his hand shamelessly. “You didn’t reject me. Can’t you even give me a handkerchief?”

Su Ji pushed away his eager face. “I didn’t agree to you either. Don’t flatter yourself.”

“Hehe.” Chu Zhaoye laughed foolishly. “I know, this is called playing hard to get.”

Pink bubbles practically started appearing all over him. Su Ji could not bear to look at it and narrowed his eyes as he asked, “Since when did this start? How long has it been?”

The smile on Chu Zhaoye’s face paused, and he secretly reached to grab his hand again. “N-not that long…”

Su Ji’s voice turned cold. “What I hate most is people lying to me.”

“……” Afraid he would get angry, Chu Zhaoye reflexively pulled him into his arms. Su Ji inexplicably ended up sitting on his thigh again.

“What are you doing?”

Chu Zhaoye muttered, “I’ll tell you, but you’re not allowed to get angry, and you’re not allowed to run away.”

“Mhm.” Su Ji agreed to him. “I won’t get angry, and I won’t run away.”

“J-just… j-just… it was during… during the time we were going to Yunxian Sect.”

Whenever he got nervous, he could not control his emotions. After stammering through a sentence, afraid that he would start crying again, he immediately shut his mouth and stayed as quiet as a chicken.

Su Ji opened his mouth, then slowly closed it again.

He truly hadn’t expected that Chu Zhaoye’s feelings toward him, his “old father,” had already started to change back when he was still just a cat.

Wasn’t this exactly like what was written in mortal storybooks: I treated you as a disciple/son/good brother, but you ended up wanting me instead?

Su Ji had never expected something like this to happen to him. It would have been one thing for his perfectly good cat son to suddenly turn into a tall man, but this man’s feelings toward him were vague and unclear. Worse still, before Su Ji had even realized it, he had already kissed him all over, inside and out.

Although it was because his heat cycle had controlled him and made him lose his rationality, judging from how Chu Zhaoye would rather endure his heat cycles himself than casually find someone to deal with it in previous years, Su Ji could tell that Chu Zhaoye was not the type to be controlled by bodily desires.

The fact that he could react this way toward Su Ji during his heat cycle meant there was only one possibility: deep inside, he already acknowledged the person before him as the partner he had chosen, a partner to whom he could reveal his weaknesses during his most vulnerable heat cycle.

Even though Chu Zhaoye’s liking and trust toward him softened his heart a little, the absurdity of this matter was second only to his own rebirth. Even if he had somewhat hurriedly accepted it just now, now that he knew the timeline, that feeling of absurdity and sudden realization began surging up again nonstop.

No wonder Chu Zhaoye became unhappy whenever Yan Shao and Yuan Chenxin showed goodwill toward him. No wonder he became gloomy when Su Ji mentioned that he might find a Dao companion in the future. Su Ji had only thought before that he had trauma related to this aspect. Who knew he was simply jealous.

It had been so long, yet he had been dull enough not to notice any clues. Every time Chu Zhaoye got jealous, not only did he fail to react, he even habitually coaxed him afterward, which was exactly why he had become so bold and unrestrained.

Su Ji took a deep breath. Seeing this, Chu Zhaoye became so nervous he did not even dare breathe loudly, afraid that if Su Ji got angry, he would never speak to him again.

The air stayed silent for a few seconds before Su Ji spoke in a complicated tone. “How could it have started so early? Weren’t you still a cat back then?”

Chu Zhaoye fell silent for a moment. Suddenly, a nostalgic expression appeared on his face as he complained resentfully, “I wonder who it was that hugged and kissed me all the time when I was still a cat, even slept in the same bed with me at night, called me ‘good boy’ right after meeting me, and even stuffed me into their chest while walking around. I haven’t been that close to anyone in thousands of years. It’s normal to fall for someone after spending so much time together.”

Su Ji: “……”

Su Ji said with difficulty, “Back then I didn’t know you had already transformed. I thought you were just a cat.”

Chu Zhaoye slowly leaned closer and whispered resentfully beside his ear, “Just because I was a little kitten, does that mean you could take advantage of me like that?”

He was extremely close. Su Ji raised a hand and covered his endlessly talking mouth. “You could clearly write when you were a cat, but you never told me your real identity either. If Tu Yan hadn’t come, how much longer were you planning to hide it from me?”

This time it was Chu Zhaoye’s turn to be speechless. Feeling slightly guilty, he leaned back slightly, only to see Su Ji slowly moving closer instead, refusing to let him off after gaining the upper hand.

“And you clearly knew you had improper intentions, yet you still slept in the same bed with me every night. I think you were enjoying it the whole time, weren’t you?”

The hand covering Chu Zhaoye’s mouth had already lowered. Su Ji did not notice how close they were at this moment, nor how ambiguous his position sitting on the other man’s thigh was. He noticed even less that Chu Zhaoye’s gaze had gradually become deep and dark.

The warm breath Su Ji exhaled while speaking seemed to carry a faint sweetness, like overripe wild fruit split open in the demon race forest, overflowing with sweet-and-sour juice, waiting for passersby to pick them.

The rationality that had just recovered seemed to once again be suppressed by instinct. Chu Zhaoye stared at the constantly fluttering eyelashes before him and those slightly swollen red lips as the clarity in his eyes was gradually swallowed by desire.

That large hand covered in a thin layer of sweat suddenly reached out, forcefully gripping the young man’s delicate chin without giving him any chance to refuse.

His lips were seized. Su Ji’s mouth had still been open mid-sentence, and as the other man’s tongue forcefully pushed in, the words that had not yet left his mouth turned into meaningless muffled sounds.

The tip of his tongue was sucked hard. The hand Su Ji had raised to push him away suddenly softened, and his whole body fell into the man’s burning embrace, completely losing the ability to resist.

Held in his arms, he was repeatedly kneaded and deeply kissed. Their breaths intertwined, his pleas for mercy swallowed beneath wave after wave of heat. Inside the bedchamber, only the wet sounds remained.

No one knew how much time had passed before the sudden kissing attack driven by Chu Zhaoye’s beastly instincts finally ended once his rationality returned.

At that moment, Su Ji was burying his face in his chest while panting. Sensing that his rationality had returned, he raised his head. His eyes shimmered with watery light, and his lips were red and swollen beyond compare. From this angle, Chu Zhaoye felt that his face was only the size of a palm. His lips were slightly parted, revealing the tip of a little pink tongue, as if inviting him for another kiss.

Chu Zhaoye, who had only regained consciousness for a second almost lost control again because of Su Ji’s expression. Spiritual energy surged into his hand as he fiercely pinched himself.

The pain from the side of his leg made him clear-headed again. He secretly tucked away those dangerous thoughts, but he still took out the medicine for reducing swelling once more.

The medicine on Su Ji’s lips had already been licked clean by him. Looking now, they seemed even more swollen than before. Chu Zhaoye’s hands trembled as he cupped his face. Su Ji had no strength left and did not resist, allowing him to apply the medicine.

After applying the medicine for the second time, Chu Zhaoye’s guilty feeling had reached the peak of the night. He had thoroughly enjoyed kissing him just now, both body and mind fully satisfied, but that did not stop him from being afraid that Su Ji was angry.

Tu Yan had once said that if one wanted a stable and lasting Dao companion life, one had to learn how to kneel properly and apologize.

Chu Zhaoye recalled the shameless way Tu Yan begged his Dao companion for forgiveness, and instantly became enlightened.

“Ah Ji, are you angry?”

He asked carefully. Su Ji was exhausted and did not want to speak, so he rolled his eyes to indicate that yes, he was angry.

Chu Zhaoye understood and hurriedly said, “Sorry, I was controlled by my heat cycle again just now. I didn’t do it on purpose.”

“You were too close to me just now, and when you talked you even puffed your cheeks. I thought you were too cute, so I couldn’t hold back. I’m such a beast. Are you tired? How about you go sleep instead? Don’t go cook for me anymore. I won’t starve to death!”

Su Ji was so angry from his string of excuses that he laughed instead. His chin was held in a palm with thin calluses as he lowered his eyelids and weakly scolded, “So now it’s my fault?”

Chu Zhaoye responded with an “Mm,” muttering quietly, “It’s all because you got too close to me. You clearly knew my self-control wasn’t very good…”

Before he could finish speaking, Su Ji slapped him.

But the slap carried no strength at all, landing on his face like a tickle.

Chu Zhaoye looked at him eagerly. “Are you hungry? I’ll have the kitchen make food for you, so don’t go yourself.”

Su Ji really was a little hungry. Not only had it already been quite a while past mealtime, but Chu Zhaoye had also pinned him down and kissed him over and over until all his strength was drained and his stomach was growling with hunger.

He weakly nodded. Receiving the order, Chu Zhaoye formed a hand seal. Crimson demon power wrapped around a secret command, passed through the tightly shut doors of the bedchamber, and flew all the way to the demon race kitchen that had long since stopped cooking.

After a while, the originally silent palace instantly became noisy because of the arrival of this secret command.

The news that the Demon King had emerged from seclusion spread from the kitchen from one person to ten, from ten to a hundred. In less than a short moment, it had spread throughout the entire palace. Probably within less than an hour, all the demon race citizens would know about it.

Even through the door, Su Ji could clearly hear the chaotic commotion outside.

Crap. With something like this suddenly happening, wouldn’t the entire demon race know he was inside Chu Zhaoye’s bedchamber now?

In his current state, he looked exactly like a weak scholar whose essence had been drained after doing something unspeakable. How could he face anyone like this!

Su Ji angrily slapped him again.
